Read this wholes series while I was in college. Re-bought them all for the Kindle to catch up to the newest books. Sure the prose can be somewhat lyrical or a bit over romanticized at some points but this series is defiantly in my top 10 list.
The world building is neat and I love the dynamic between Grunthor, Achmed, and Rhapsody the most. Ashe is alright but really I live for the snarky family setup established in the first book. In the process of re-reading everything to get ready for the Merchant King. These characters are multi-faceted and that's what keeps me reading.
The Symphony of Ages is a wonderful world of varied characters, lands, history unique to her world, and intricate layered plots. Haydon has built a full fledged world with deep characters. Her heroes and villains are both found in the expected and the unexpected peoples in her books. The farm girl who becomes a queen a d so much more, the most feared assassin in the world becomes a king, and the broken draconic prince ascends to the highest title of the allied lands.
This is a set of books that will catch you up in the story and engage your emotions as well as your intellect. This is a must read for all fantasy book lovers.
