“In my family, when someone is born, another will die.”

A symbiotic curse has plagued the Arrowood and Everhart households for generations. When a new baby is born, a member of the ancient clans die. Only a truce between the warring families can break the deadly hex once and for all.

Upon hearing her cousin is in labour, Maeve Arrowood hurries home to find out which one of them will be next. But the loss of her uncle is the least of her worries when a young man is found dead in the sea under suspicious circumstances. Called in by the police, Maeve has no option but to reprise her role as a scuba diving police consultant to retrieve the body.

Unwittingly drawn into the investigation, Maeve is forced to work with the odiously handsome Ben Everhart. Obliged to put aside their differences, Maeve and Ben soon discover that a far deadlier danger has descended on the island of Dusk.

One that could destroy both families forever.

Book 1:
This series is brilliant! Loved it so much! There is a strong plot that only a master weaver could have produced, flawless in every way, a treasure to hold in one's hand. This treasure has quite a bit going on, in the most engaging way, you'll want to, you'll need to know what is next. Maeve, a witch ,comes back home to Dusk, an island where supernaturals reside, not willingly at all, but a new member of their family was about to be born. Lovely right? Well nooooo. There's a curse. There's this feud between the Arrowwoods and Everharts, no one knows exactly but they loathe one another. Heck she escaped to London to try put it all behind her. But then there's a murder... So what's a girl supposed to do? Find the killer is what, although that means joining forces with her arch enemy, Ben Everhart. These scenes were both very entertaining, amusing as well as intense.
Maeve's two best friends, Kira and Allison, bamboozle her into going to a dating agency, an agency that promises anonymity and comparability, and a magic mask... and when the mask is uncovered, welllllllll, let's go with blinding shock almost stopped Maeve's heart! The author took me on the most wonderful journey, one where I was jumping with joy by the ending, got every fibre in me completely vested in the characters, well especially Ben and Maeve....the comic relief from Kira and Allison has me snorting out loud, just loved them. The plot, the pacing, this fab world, the twists, the banter, the romance, all of it, made the most charming and enchanting read.
Book 2:
You like action? You got it! You like forbidden romance? You got it! You like friends that have your back? You got it! You like humour? You got it! You like disfunctional families? You got it! Feuds, curses and passion abound! You've even got a Phoenix! Yep, this book got it all! In fact, I don't think there's anything that will leave you wanting in this book! From the superbly crafted plot, to the breathtaking moments, both emotionally and physically, THIS book will wrap itself around all your senses and leave you with a burning desire for the next book! Which, thankfully, isn't far away! This book is packed to the brim in awesomeness! The author had me glued from word one, I couldn't, WOULDN'T let go until I'd read it to the end. And golly gee, don't expect anything expected in this book, the unexpected bursts through time and time again, ensnaring me even further! From discovering explosive revelations, discovering you're a mermaid sure counts as explosive, to trying to keep a burgeoning romance from being found out, to feuding families and a mystery that needs solving, to betrayals of the worst kind, things get very messy for Maeve. I adore Maeve, the situations she gets herself into are so comical, she's incredibly relatable and likeable, I'd love to be her friend too! Love the ease of this author's writing, her knack for taking me to new heights, on an adventure she laid out so perfectly, that I cannot wait to jump on board the next one she sends me on! Excitement from start to finish!
Book 3:
As I embark on book 3 in this fabulous series, I can't help but wonder, could things get any worse for Maeve and Ben? Well, yes... Not only are they still locked under a barrier the phoenix erected, the food supplies are diminishing all to quickly, the curse is still in full force, and both Arrowood's and Everhart's are falling prey to a disease from where there is no return. The despair she and her friends feel has taken on even more urgency now than many are falling to the illness. Oh glory, the hopelessness is so palpable, even my stomach has dropped! Especially when....no, can't tell you but GEEZ did my heart stop for a few seconds! In fact, I swear I could hear my heart in my ears throughout this book! The pounding abating slightly in beautiful tender moments and picking up like a galloping horse the rest of the time! SO much drama and tension! I ABSOLUTELY loved how fully I sunk into the story, how much these characters drew out of me! Yeah, you'll only understand once you've read it....
When a sassy MC decided to throw caution to the wind, you're GUARANTEED a read that will have you going through hoops with her! Or portals... yeah, a VERY daring plan to take but with EVERYTHING on the line, heck, I was yelling, GO MAEVE!!! A Phoenix, a curse or two, a forbidden love, secrets unveiled, fabulous action, are a few of thrilling events that unfolded! All the characters resonate with me as they propelled me on a whirlwind of a journey, fighting pirates, rehashing the past, heck, fighting to make things right! I simply adore the characters and the plot, nevermind the storytelling which is outstanding! Kira and Allison are the most loyal, best of friends a gal could wish for and oh glory, the banter! THAT was fantabulous!!! Add in the dreamy but forbidden love interest, Ben, and you are hooked!
loved the pacing and the world Ms Wylor-Owen concocts, a different universe to sink myself in, so many exceptionally humourous moments and so many excellent twists. I was cheering them on, I was literally sitting at the edge of my seat at times, I was si engrossed the world I was in disappeared..... I entered a world of sheer magic and I didn't want to let go! This author took me places so exciting I truly was heartbroken to have reached the end of this series, VERY satisfying but sad...I couldn't imagine a more fitting ending than this! Superb!

Book 1

Maeve Arrowood returns home after years away, due to the curse on her family. A strong female lead, with a natural affinity with water, whose work as a scuba diver leads her to be involved in investigating a suspicious death. She has to work alongside a member of the family who are also part of the curse, which isn’t easy when the families have hated each other for generations and trust doesn’t come easy!

Maeve’s friendship with Kira and Allison is an important part of the story, and provides lots of fun moments, as well as encouraging Maeve to look for romance, at the same time as investigating the death and trying to get her family to think about how the curse might be dealt with differently.
The various strands of the story weave together well and set the series off on good foundations.

Book 2

This second book in the series feels as if we’re now fully invested in Maeve and Ben’s relationship and the need to break the curse that threatens both of their families.

Maeve is becoming more aware of her inherent abilities, (although she still has a way to go with understanding exactly what she is capable of) and how she can use them. She longs to know more about her mother and what happened to her. She also realises how much Ben means to her and how important it is to break the curse, not only for her family’s sake, but also for any hopes for their future. The repercussions of the curse are much wider than first realised, as events lead Maeve and Ben to investigate more into the activities of those selling dark magic potion ingredients, which we learned about in book one.

I’ve really enjoyed getting to know the characters better, becoming more invested in them. The bonds between Maeve and her friends are an important part of the story and are very strong. Maeve’s family are complex and haven’t yet fully realised how strong she is and how much they need to trust her if they want a better future.

There are some big developments and lots of excitement in this book and I am really looking forward to discovering how things unfold, (as there is a real sense of much more to come) and to finding out if/how Maeve and Ben can bring their relationship out into the open and bring their families together.

Book 3

I’d eagerly anticipated this third instalment of Maeve and Ben’s story, waiting to find out if/how they would break the curse on their families, and how they can save their island and all who live on it. Well I was certainly not left disappointed by the nail biting events!

At the start of this book, we already know that the island is under the curse of the Phoenix. The gang do their best, but cannot find a way to break the curse, until there is news of a pirate ship that might provide a way to travel in time. There is so much resting on Maeve, Ben and their friends shoulders. Bravery, trust, understanding and magical talents combine in an action packed race to save the island…and maybe their families too.

This book answers many questions from the previous two and leaves you with a great sense of satisfaction…even if you may’ve bitten your fingernails down along the way!

As someone who adores books blending humor with magical and fantastical elements, Rosie Wylor-Owen's "The Moonlight Mermaid Complete Series" felt like a treasure trove waiting to be discovered. This series weaves together family curses, deep-sea mysteries, and a reluctant yet irresistible romance in a way that kept me hooked from start to finish.

Maeve Arrowood, the heroine, immediately captured my interest. Her life is anything but ordinary, especially with a generational curse hanging over her head. The curse that ties the fates of the Arrowood and Everhart families adds an element of tension and inevitability to the story that had me eagerly turning pages. When Maeve learns her cousin is in labor, the urgency and anxiety she feels is palpable—knowing that a birth heralds a death within their families.

The plot thickens when Maeve, a scuba diving police consultant, is drawn into investigating a suspicious death in the sea. This twist brought an unexpected blend of procedural drama and supernatural intrigue. The dynamic between Maeve and Ben Everhart, her begrudging partner from the rival family, was another highlight for me. Their initial friction and the gradual shift towards cooperation and mutual respect were both entertaining and heartwarming. Ben’s odious charm and Maeve’s resilient spirit made for a delightful pairing, adding depth to their interactions beyond just the professional.

The setting of the island of Dusk is beautifully crafted, providing a mystical and atmospheric backdrop to the unfolding drama. The secrets and ancient magic hidden within its waters and shores are woven seamlessly into the narrative, making the island itself feel like a character in the story. As someone who enjoys rich, immersive worlds, this aspect of the series was particularly appealing.

Wylor-Owen excels at balancing the dark, suspenseful elements of the curse and the investigation with moments of humor and lightheartedness. The witty banter between characters, especially Maeve and Ben, brought a smile to my face even during tense moments. This blend of tones kept the story engaging and dynamic.

The overarching theme of reconciliation and unity in the face of ancient enmity resonated deeply. Watching Maeve and Ben confront not just external dangers but also their own prejudices and familial legacies was inspiring. It’s a story about breaking cycles and finding strength in unexpected alliances, which added a layer of depth to the fantastical elements.

For readers like me who cherish a mix of humor, magic, and heartfelt storytelling, "The Moonlight Mermaid Complete Series" is a gem. Maeve Arrowood’s journey through the mysteries of her cursed lineage and the dangerous waters of Dusk is an adventure I won't soon forget. Rosie Wylor-Owen has created a series that is both enchanting and thought-provoking, perfect for those who believe in the magic of second chances and the power of breaking curses.

Midnight Waters:

The Arrowood and Everhart families have been feuding for as long as anyone on Dusk can remember. The sacred items gifted to the witch families were used in malice to harm each other and in turn caused a curse. Every time a new family member is born to a family, one must die. The cause of the feud that brought the bloodshed has been lost over time and no one knows how to break the curse.

Arcane Waters:

New things are happening for Maeve. Not only are her mermaid powers evolving but the curse has evolved as well. The arrow that is in the center of this dueling family curse is screaming in the middle of the night after laying still for centuries. A curse breaker is hired to look over the arrow and gives some shocking revelations that Maeve is more than happy to spearhead if it means resolving this curse forever. Armed with this knowledge, she teams up with Ben Everhart, her boyfriend and family member of the other half of this feud. The idea that they can finally not hide their relationship is a hope they both want. However, things are never simple and the magical black market is making issues for everyone on the island.

Forbidden Waters:

Curses just suck. After the events of the last book things are looking bleak. The island is locked, there is disease spreading, and everyone (and I mean everyone) is pissed with the feuding families. Maeve and her friends are desperate to fix the mess that was created. They try so many things but every idea just seems to come up short. However, one final desperate attempt is made after her cousin gives a cryptic clue. Now it's a race against time to break the curses that have bound them.

All the books in one place so I never have to stop reading and absolute lose a night of sleep. I enjoyed almost every character in this series from Celeste's life altering secrets and how she handles herself despite her family raging around her to Kira's snarky antics to Adrian's overprotectiveness of his brother. I always find myself laughing while reading Rosie's stories and these are characters I can really understand the motives. I loved the meshing of magic in everyday life and truly wished life could be that magical at times. I'm hoping to see these characters again.

Book 1: One part, two feuding families because of a curse. One part whodunit in a small community. Both wrapped in an enemies to lovers story with a little open door spice. Finished with something that makes me excited for the next books in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book so much that I was finished within a day.

Book 2: A great continuation of the story started in the first book of the series. The budding relationship between the enemies turned lovers is continuing to mature.

How will Maeve’s dad and family react to finding out she’s a mermaid? About her relationship with Ben? Will both families all get out of the curse alive?

Book 3: I was lucky enough to be allowed to read this whole series before each official release and each one certainly had my undivided attention and couldn’t wait to read each one. With this being the final one in the series, I was definitely not disappointed and read it all in one sitting. I highly recommend the entire series.

Reviews for all 3 books in the trilogy.

1. Midnight Waters: The perfect blend of cozy mystery, urban fantasy and paranormal romance. The mystery was well-plotted and logical, with enough red herrings to make it a surprising reveal. The slightly less cozy, more adult scenes brought in the urban fantasy feel without it feeling too gritty. And the steamy times were, phew, sooooo hot! A favorite and unique part was the dating agency where the first three dates were anonymous as both participants wore magical masks that gave them a glamour to have different features (hair color, height, etc). Very well-crafted book and I look forward to reading the rest of the trilogy.

2. Arcane Waters: Another amazing book in this trilogy of cozy mystery mixed with urban fantasy and some spicy paranormal romance! The mystery was again very well-thought-out and I was both heartbroken and surprised with the reveal. Maeve and Ben's romance continues to be spicy, spicy, and wow... in the library!?!? Hot!! The feuding families seemed like they might be open to a conversation, and I wonder how that will progress in the final book of the trilogy. With the explosive ending of this book, there are a lot of plot threads that we will need to see resolved in the next one as well. I can't wait to pick it up!

3. Forbidden Waters: A wonderful finale to this trilogy that combines cozy mystery, urban fantasy and paranormal romance flawlessly. Also, pirates, because why not pirates? This book seemed a bit more fast paced and action packed than the previous ones, but did not lack in storytelling at all as a result. I was sad when it ended as I really want to read more in this world.

Book 1: Midnight Waters

The Hatfield's and McCoy's turn into Romeo and Juliet, with magic, but will it end the same? That's the question.
The story grabs your attention from the start. Learning about a curse that's been plaguing two fueding families for many generations. Throw in a mind boggling murder mystery that throws a member of each family together to try to solve and it makes for a fascinating, page turning read.
It has drama, mystery, and spice. All in the right places.
It has many moving parts that Rosie fits together perfectly for a plot that flows well. The characters are well developed and the world she created is divine.

Book 2: Arcane Waters

Rosie sure does know her craft. Get ready for a read that sucks you instantly into a different world. The world that is DUSK.
This is one heck of a rollercoaster installment. The twists, turns and me saying out loud, "no way, never saw that coming," along with my laughter, had my head reeling. In a fantastic way.
From one page to the next, with the evilness, stubbornness, romance and trying to hide secrets, I couldn’t put it down I was so engrossed. It's a winner.

Book 3: Forbidden Waters

Geez, what a dramatic, heart pounding, edge of your seat (sadly) series ending.
It's got a curse that needs broken, a dome that needs dispelled, death and forbidden love. How does it all end?? With twists and turns you never see coming.
From page one, you want stop reading until you're done with the whole book. It's that well written.

Midnight Waters
Two families on a magical island have feuded like the Hatfields and the McCoys for generations. So much so that a curse was placed on both families. When one member of the family is born, another one instantly dies. The curse could be broken if they could only call of the feud, but they won't. One girl from a family and a boy from the other gets together to solve a murder. They find that they could actually get on very well - if they would let themselves.
Arcane Waters
Maeve and Ben are from feuding families and are still secretly seeing each other. It has been discovered that if the two families make peace the duel curse will be lifted. They nearly managed to get a written truce when it was interrupted by a mythical creature who was extremely angry. The two lovers work together to solve the problem, but people they thought they could trust proved otherwise.
Forbidden Waters
The Arrowood/Everheart curse has now effected the entire island, because the phoenix enclosed the entire island with no way off or on. No supplies - nothing. Food etc was getting scarce and everyone has turned against the two families.

The two lovebirds (Maeve Arrowood and Ben Everheart) realise that they were the ones to break this recent curse - probably by breaking the family curse. With the help of the colony of mermaids, they find a way to time travel and hopefully fix things. They encounter past family members, pirates and even former versions of themselves.

This is a fantastic twisted and exciting tale.

MIDNIGHT WATERS – 5 stars
Murder Mystery and Magical Dating

A shared curse between feuding families should bond them together but unfortunately this has always been impossible. However, when a murder mystery comes to town as the curse is activated again Maeve Atwood and Ben Everhart must work together to solve the case. This was an intriguing story especially when she is coerced by her friends to find a date via magical means while investigating a murder. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the next one in the series.

ARCANE WATERS – 5 stars
Secrets All Around
Maeve and Ben continue to get hot and heavy as their secret relationship heats up. However, a mystery needs to be solved and they are determined to find out what is going on and stop it. This second book of the series was beautifully written and contained wonderful characters, both new and old. I am eagerly awaiting the next one to find out more about their family's curse.

FORBIDDEN WATERS – 5 stars
Phoenix Egg

With the conclusion to Maeve and Ben's journey to break the curse on their families and the town, danger awaits as well as a pirate ship full of hope. The phoenix and her egg are an important task that must be accomplished at any cost, as a magical sickness is plaguing those important to them. This plot was suspenseful, adventurous and a wonderful read.

**ARC READER REVIEW, ALL STATEMENTS AND OPINIONS ARE MY OWN**

The island of Dusk has been quite the magical hot spot lately. Situated “somewhere” in the UK, it’s a place where the magical is commonplace and people can embrace their powers. Mermaid covens patrol the waters, dryads protect nature, witches produce potions, and faeries live in magical trees. For generations, the only real trouble a resident needed to look out for was being caught in the crossfire between the Arrowwoods and the Everharts, and for the majority of the island’s history, that was the case.

Maeve Atwood had been living in London for the past few years working with a scuba diving agency that helps police recover dead bodies from in and around waterways. Having left Dusk to get away from the feud, she’d never wanted it to define her the way it does all of her relatives. But when a new baby came, the curse once again reared its ugly head and had brought Maeve back into the fold. Now Maeve’s working with her dad at the scuba shop, helping the police from time to time, and generally trying to enjoy being back home.

“The Moonlight Mermaid Trilogy” is the full collection of all three books in Rosie Wylor-Owen’s Moonlight Mermaid Trilogy and is absolutely flooded with adventure! In every book, the reader is drawn in with the action, well-developed characters, unique settings, and original take on the classic lore. The books are spicy, in all the right ways, and just keep getting spicier, with a kickass female protagonist who’s tougher than she looks and has secrets she needs to be kept, but at what cost?! I genuinely enjoyed reading these books from start to finish and highly recommend them to anyone who’s a fan of urban fantasy, enemies-to-lovers themes, and/or a spicy murder mystery. Enjoy! Personally, I’m really wishing there was another book on the way!

Each book in the series could be read as a stand along. I had read books 2 & 3, but reading book 1 really helped to give a full understanding of the Arrowoods and the Everharts feud. Two prominent witch families living in a small town where magical beings all live and work together. These two families have a curse that any new life in one family will cause a death in the other family. Maeve, a witch had left the community and is returning because a new child is coming into her family and she is worried that she may be next to die. Her coming back will bring her path to Ben, the son of the opposite feuding family. A death, a murder, secrets in each of their families made this a great book to read. I loved it. This author should continue writing more about magical beings and the adventures they find themselves in.

This trilogy is soooo good!! I could barely tear myself away as I inhaled it. I love the world-building, want to personally befriend the protagonist, and was absolutely captured by the tale it tells. It has fantasy, mystery, romance, and the consequences of blind loyalty. The fantasy has elements of both high & urban, entwined effortlessly. Everyone has so many secrets and lies, so much blind prejudice, such vindictive hatred for each other, that it seems Maeve's efforts to end the curse killing the families by forging a truce between them will never be accomplished. This plot took me places I never would have expected and comes to an excellent conclusion. Very well done, absolutely recommend it to any fan of fantasy!

I really enjoyed this series that shows what could happen when you annoy a witch too much and your decedents pay the price. It is the story of the Arrowood and Everhart families with the typical boy and girl from these opposing families meet and start working together on the sly. But it made for a great series to read as I laughed and groaned through most of the story when not shaking my head at the trouble these two find. But Maeve and Ben end up solving mysteries and causing all matter of interesting trouble. Drama, danger, and surprises kept me glued to the end to figure out what was really going on and if these two would find a way to defeat their family 's curse. So much fun to read. Add in some secrets and intrigue to the mix too as there is magic, drama and mermaids too.

A fantastic trilogy that follows Maeve and her family of witches. An old curse that affects two feuding families has it that when a baby is born, a family member dies. Maeve is a diver and loves the ocean.

Book 1 introduces Maeve and her friends, and there is a mystery to solve. Also, a forbidden romance.

Book 2 is about Maeve and her secret boyfriend trying to figure out who is supplying forbidden potions.

Book 3 culminates in ending curses, with pirates and fun.

An amazing trilogy with great world building, romance, and humor.

This was my first reading of Ms. Wylor-Owen's books and it will not be my last! The world-building, characters, and dialogue were all fabulous and fresh, even with nods to the usual mermaid tropes. It was lovely to see how Maeve and Ben matured and overcome their families' history, the curses, and their own insecurities to reach their HEA. I would love to read more books in this universe!.

There was so much information in these books. I love that it was a complete series, that way i didn’t have to wait for the next one, because i devoured those books. I love mermaids and anything to do with the ocean and i was so excited to read these and they met all my expectations.

Mermaid with a twist

Two feuding families, a chance to stop the curse and love that just might be the answer. Dusk looks like your typical tourist town but it has dark issues coming to light and teenage sleuths that need to find the culprits.

Loves that break the rules surrounding an ongoing feud might be the only things that could save and island of supernaturals and some of its leading families.

Savage and powerful.
