On a wild night out at the Fox Club, the hottest girls on the Sunset Strip meet the cutest up-and-coming band in town, and sparks fly. As The Moon Show celebrate getting signed to legendary Asmodeus Records, they share a magical night, a night that nobody wants to end.
Beautiful illustrations of beautiful people, but the story is a confusing mess. Groupies pursue band members...some kind of demon worship is happening???
this graphic novel was way too short. i spent most of the time confused and, by the time i finally understood what the story was about, it ended. it follows these groupies and a band but there's also some demonic worship involved? i wish there was some more focus on this but, it was only around 20 pages and part one of a series. i'm not sure if i'll continue with the series; i'm a little curious to see what is going on but at the same time, i'm not that attached to the story/characters. the artwork was stunning though.
my rating - 3.5 stars . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. was Very grateful to receive an arc on NetGalley- i was very intrigued by the title and the cover art. i have never heard of the author before so i want into in blind and tried not to have to high of expectations. was the story good? yes and no. did i finish it in an hour?yes. the idea of the plot is very interesting and could be very good if executed right. You follow a group of women who are in the rock and roll scene, they hook up with men from a rock band called 'Everybody'(at least i think its their name- its really confusing) and the plot follows them and ''explores'' what usually happens on tours. There's a element of horror crime I wanna say not too sure since the story jumps from one womans pov to another, its a little messy and hard to follow, i do want to say that with a little polish it can be a great story as some points are definitely interesting, and I would like to explore them further which i'm guessing will happen later on in the series (it's a 3 part series if i'm not mistaken) i do want to note that the art style is absolutely gorgeous and captivating and it's one of the reasons i gave it a 3.5 star rating! you could really feel the way the emotions were conveyed at each scene as well as feel the atmosphere changes! would i still give it a go and read the rest of the series? Probably yes- simply since the art style is too good to pass on and i have hopes it will get better. . ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁.. ݁₊ ⊹ . ݁ ⟡ ݁ . ⊹ ₊ ݁. i would rather give a book/series another chance then give up on it entirely.
Too early to rate this, but love the dreamy artwork by Tula Lotay!
If I had to sum up the essence of Groupies based on the first issue alone—blood, gore, and demons collide with the world of ‘love, sex, rock n’ roll.’ Lisa Storm is the primary protagonist in this edition: a young, beautiful woman in love with a hot musician named Si.
Lisa is part of a clique, who love to party and live it up with hot musicians. But something sinister is lurking in the shadows, a demonic entity that seeks human sacrifice... And these girls could be the next victims.
Groupies is very retro Hollywood meets gothic horror for now.
Omg while this was super colourful, it was pure topsy turvy like wtf am I reading here?! I mean the characters were just dog💩 nasty to each other in every page, Satan might as well be a peeping Tom since he’s getting more screen time in nearly every chapter and the amount of sex scenes without us getting to know each character properly. Again it is pure colourful but bloody hell, it was pointless chaos tbh…..
A very unusual start to the story and the action both on and off music is fast. This is quite clearly for adults commensurate with its topic and the evolution of the groupie culture. Rock and roll on stage with lots happening off it and in your, during programs, all depicted here. There is also a chilling undercurrent that is malevolent and is slowly manifesting itself. The what takes us to the next story.
This book is very interesting. I thought that the art was very cool and colorful! It was very different from anything I had seen before. Although, I have no idea what was happening with the book. I could see the rock and roll and the drugs and sex but what was the whole demonic energy for? Thank you NetGalley for giving me an advance copy.
Loved the art first and foremost. Unique and beautiful. The story seemed interesting as well but in this first issue things are still getting set up so we'll have to wait and see how it evolves. Very enjoyable though
Seems to be an interesting story, although it was too explicit for me. My first thought was that it seemed to be a Wattpad story made comic, but it seems to be going on a different path.
Loved it, so cool, so interesting, the art work is great I am just bummed that I caught it when it only had 2 comic in publication. I will have to wait awhile to get the but when it is done it will be fabulous read
Okay… so this one was a trip. Still not sure how I feel about it, which is probably a review in itself. Cool art, messy vibes, and something underneath it all that felt like a hangover from a night I didn’t remember signing up for. Not bad — just weird.
