Fighting for Cassidy

Rate this book
She embodies his deepest insecurities.

Cassidy Caddel's whole life has centered around her high IQ. When the mole at Prey almost blows her up she becomes fixated on solving clues to find the locations of six more bombs. But she didn't count on the man who saved her life deciding he was going to play bodyguard, or the way her body responds to him even though she knows nothing will happen between them since he seems to hate her. How can she balance her sense of duty with her own growing needs?

Navy SEAL Luis Aguilar knows that he and Cassie come from two very different worlds. But despite his best efforts not to fall for her he can't seem to help himself. After failing once before he doesn't want anyone else in his life to become a responsibility, but bombs have been set and Cassie is determined to be the one to find them, and he'll have to do whatever it takes to keep her alive. Even if that means opening himself up to the possibility of falling in love.

Whoa, this ongoing storyline from Book 1 up to now is soooo suspenseful and crafty! You may THINK you know how it’s going to pan out, but you really get fooled by Ms. Blythe’s craftiness. I really love that the author gives you a recap of the previous character’s storylines without it seeming like a bullet point presentation. It just flows within the current storyline and boy does it help to jog your memory if you’re not binge reading the series. Now Cassidy, who is a freaking amazing genius, is a bit socially awkward and honestly socially disabled. Before hoping up with Athena Team she never (and I mean NEVER) had a friend. She was literally created to be super smart and as such she was never allowed to join any group activities like dance or sports. She was only allowed to study and achieve academic success. She wasn’t even allowed to explore her creative side, such as art or music, because that’s not what her parents wanted for her - or more like for them as she was a reflection of them. So, she just never had the opportunity to develop simple skills of talking to people casually, make friends, etc. Regardless of that, though, I really like Cassidy and was sympathetic to her throughout the book because she not only recognized her shortcomings but tried to overcome them to some degree. Luis, to me, kinda comes across as a douche. Very shallow, no goals of any type of relationships beyond knocking boots with a woman as often as he can. He didn’t discriminate either, so long as the woman was willing and knew the score going in that their time together was even less than casual. Obviously he has some hang up’s about himself that he needs to work on and get over but he still just rubbed me the wrong way early on, though he does redeem himself not too much later in the book. The overarching storyline, bad guys trying to steal the Reactivator and who the frigging mole is at Prey, gets even more interesting and feels like we’re gonna need at least two more books after this one rather than the one. But I know our sneaky author will do us justice in the next and last book (cannot wait!). Cassidy was the actual and literal brains behind the creation of the Reactivator and whoever is trying to get their hands on it is proving to do whatever and harm whoever they need to in order to get it. Our Cassidy has already suffered through a non-loving childhood, which to me is a form of abuse and torture, and now she’s subject to more torture all in the name of getting the Reactivator. Luis, even though he starts out as a douche, also starts out as highly protective and takes his job seriously. He’s immediately on point to take care of Cassidy, even though he really can’t stand her and thinks she’s high maintenance as a potential lover regardless of how casual of a relationship they could/may have. From the start he’s willing to risk his very life to save her. He gets her through this whole ordeal and in the end we get our HEA but darn it we still don’t really know who the mole is nor who really wants the Reactivator and their true intentions. This book can be read as a standalone, despite the ongoing storyline, as it gives you a quick synopsis of the storyline as well as each of the previous team members’ storyline. However, you’ll get a much richer experience if you read each of the books in the series in order.

Holy cow, this author has done it again! This is such an exciting and entertaining story. The mole at Prey Security is still at large and out to hurt the members of the Athena Team. This third story in the Athena Team series continues from where book two finished. However, the excitement starts immediately.

Cassidy Caddel is a genius, and with her extremely high IQ, it’s not surprising she was the member of the team who’d initially come up with the idea of the Reactivator drug. Feeling guilty because it was her idea, she tried to solve the puzzle of the mole’s identity, leading her into all sorts of exploding situations. I really liked Cass; she was portrayed as age-appropriate, even though she is a genius. I found her endearing and wanted to comfort her quite a few times.

Luis Aguilar, a Navy SEAL, was assigned to protect her. He wasn’t sure about her, but mainly because he had assumptions about her personality rather than facts. The old ‘assume’ saying was accurate in this instance. Still, once we got to know Luis I liked him and realised he, too, had his reasons for not trusting people easily.

As a slow-burn romance, I found it so sweet because although their situation was intense, they took some time to get to know each other. Their chemistry was supercharged, and their feelings towards each other gained more depth as the story evolved.

This mole was another story altogether, though. I have had an idea about who it was from book one, and in this story, their gender was revealed. So far, it fits with what I thought, but I will admit I’m having second thoughts because of how much knowledge this mole has about many things like plane engines, bomb construction, and much more. Lots of emotions were involved throughout the book, including nail-biting anxiety.

I can’t wait for the final story, Fighting For Ella, especially given that teaser of an ending in this book!

Seven days, seven life altering days make up this suspenseful, dramatic and danger filled romance. If very two people were opposites, they would be Cassidy and Luis. What's the old saying. Opposites attract. She was raised in academia by parents who were more car givers than a loving mom and dad. She Finished high school at nine; started college at ten and acquired almost a dozen degrees in the math and science fields. He, along with his younger brother, were basically abandoned by his birth parents. He changed his brother's diapers and stole food so they didn't starve when he was little more than a toddler. He did poorly in school, barely passing each grade until he and his brother were fostered by two former military people. Her sheltered existence and his life experience coupled wih his SEAL career have them clashing and making false assumptions about one another. Yet, there is an undeniable attraction between Cass and Luis. He's charged with protecting her as they embark on a crazy sort of scavenger hunt in search of bombs hidden throughout the city. She can be head strong and disregards her safety. He tries to rein he in and keep her safe. The chemistry between them builds to a fever pitch which makes resisting her nearly impossible. Giving in is inevitable making it last, the goal.

Really good storyline.

Cassidy Caddel is super smart, and with her high IQ, it makes sense that she came up with the idea for the Reactivator medicine. She felt guilty about her idea, so she tried to figure out who the mole was, which got her into some crazy situations. I really liked Cass; she felt relatable for her age even though she's a genius. I found her charming and wanted to give her a hug a few times.

Luis Aguilar, a Navy SEAL, was there to keep her safe. At first, he wasn’t sure about her because he was making assumptions rather than knowing her well. You know what they say about assumptions! But as we learned more about Luis, I grew to like him too; he had his own reasons for being cautious.

Their romance was such a slow-burn, and I found it realistic, Even though things were tense, they took the time to understand each other. The chemistry between them was electric, and their feelings deepened as the story went on.

Now, the mole was a whole different story! I thought I  had an idea of who it was since the second book, and in this one, we found out their gender, but I’m starting to doubt it because this mole knows a ton about everything—from airplane engines to how to make bombs. The book was full of emotions, and I felt super anxious reading it!

Fight the darkness

Cass and Luis both had unusual, yet different upbringings that were difficult and have left shadows and scars that make them doubt their worth and question the motives of others. This gives them a rocky start as they both let their own prejudices and fears affect every interaction and conversation. This plays into the Mole's games as Cassidy becomes the target, but whoever the Mole is they know Cassidy well and know the best way to mess with her is not to target her directly....but to threaten others...innocents.
Your heart breaks as you listen to Cass trying to convince Luis that she has to work constantly to not 'waste' her gift. Equally the pain and guilt that Luis carries is so sad and I am glad that Miguel finally confronts him and points out some home truths - so heartwarming to see Luis through the eyes of his younger brother.
We don't catch the Mole here but they do narrow down the suspects, Ella is the final member of the team and the last target, we don't get her book until November, but will everyone remember just how Scarlett was targeted and framed or will they all make the same mistake again and jump to the wrong conclusion about Ella too.....
I read this on Kindle Unlimited.

Cassie and Luis both have insecurities, they both hold gilt and the feeling of not belonging, something they both need to work on. When Luis is tasked with protecting Cassie, he doesn't want any part of it. He already had a perceived notion of who she was and boy he couldn’t have been more wrong. Cassie the people pleaser always making sure everyone was taken care of, did what she was asked to do and still never quite fit it in anywhere. Being a genius wasn’t easy. Luis doesn’t think highly of himself, guilt from letting his brother down and perception of what he thinks people think of him, that he’s less than, which couldn’t be farther from the truth. These two working closely together started to stir things up for Cassie that she didn’t understand completely, but she knew he felt the same way. The mole is still out there trying to hurt the team and they are still no closer to finding out who it is, except for a clue she was given while being held that they now know it’s a woman who is the mole, but who? Who and why would they do this? I guess we’ll have to wait for the next and final book in the series.

One of the four genius female scientists on Prey’s Athena team being targeted by a mole whose sold their in-progress drug designed to heal soldier’s faster, Cassidy ‘Cassie’ Caddell was looking for clues on the plane, that went down with one of her teammates when a bomb, the mole likely planted, went off.

Instead of being in the hanger watching over Cassie or preventing the blast, Luis Aguliar was outside because Cassie was his least favorite of the quartet and he was keeping his distance. Luis was sure Cassie was a whiny princess, not the kind of woman who’d be satisfied with a night, breakfast and him disappearing. But if she was in there hurt, it was his fault and he had to do the best he could for now.

This outing was ok for a CR but this reader expected suspenseful situations and got more will they, won’t they find love, romance and satisfying sex with each other. The trafficker trying for the formula makes his appearance but to my taste, it’s too little, too late with a couple I wasn’t invested in to entertain me until the main event.

Another exciting instalment in this great series! This time the turn of Cassidy the former child genus with a high IQ and Luis the navy seal whose job is to protect her. The two seem to be an extremely unlikely couple but in the capable hands of Jane Blythe the two of them manage to work through their differences and overcome their difficult pasts.
As we have come to expect from this talented author the story moves at a fast and exciting pace with plenty of twists and turns along the way. This is a book filled with romance, suspense and thrills. I cannot recommend this author highly enough and this book certainly does not disappoint. Although the story could be read as a standalone, there is an overarching theme that carries on through the series and I have been left desperate to read the next instalment Fighting For Ella.

Outside their comfort

Cassie and Luis. So different, but so similar. I loved the courage it took for both to face their insecurities and understanding of it. The love and friendship they shared as they worked to solve the danger and to build a relationship was detailed and full of action, danger, humor, and love. The other members of Athena were there as was Rocco’s seal team and their spouses for parts of this story. The bad guy shared some details on the mole and I think it is a certain someone mentioned in the first two books with gossip, but she wasn’t in this story so I don’t know. The ending with this couple was sweet and perfect for them. The cliffhanger was shorter, but just as impactful as the others and has me ready for the next story!

I really enjoyed this book and getting to know the backgrounds of both Cassidy and Luis. They had both had damaged childhoods, but in completely different ways and both needed to love and appreciate themselves first. I loved the slow build up between them and how they both sensed they were meant to be.

This had slightly less action than the previous book, although still plenty of drama. Cassidy and Luis became favourite characters for me, I loved their vulnerability.

Once again Jane finished then book with a WTF moment!! We need Ella’s book now! I can’t wait to see if Raul gets his comeuppance- I really hope so!

This story felt like it went by so fast, I just vegged on the couch and dove in.
Cassie is a scientist, a young woman with a high IQ who has missed so much normality in her life.
Caught up in an explosion she earned herself a bodyguard in Luis. He's invaded her privacy and yet uncomfortable wasn't really what she was feeling. Totally innocent she's wrapped up in all these new feelings. There is a mole in the company and Cassie is in danger trying to work out who it is and also following clues to defuse bombs.
Action packed to the end as she fights for her life.
The ending, oh this author is wicked. Gimme the next book fast :)

All I can say about this book is that it was action packed and just as amazing as the other two that we have read in this series. Cassidy was sweet, innocent and totally vulnerable but she proved to be a very strong and capable woman. Luis is damaged and has very jaded opinions about relationships but when he encounters Cassidy that all changes. When Cassidy is in danger he will do all he can to get her back and protect her. Jane Blythe once again delivers a very exciting book with a really wonderful and fulfilling story and I was hooked but that ending proves just how twisted Jane Blythe’s mind can be. So excited for the next book in this series.

Fighting for Cassidy was a well written book. So much danger, mystery, putting clues together, and romance. Cassidy is a very smart young lady, but Luis thinks she is a spoiled princess, but she is far from that. She is just a lonely woman that has no friends. Her parents wanted her to be very smart so she had tutors, so no school except college and she was to young to make friends. Luis was a Navy SEAL and he was helping a friend to keep an eye on Cassidy. Luis started out not liking Cassidy thinking she was better then him, but then he got to know her better. Can't wait for the next one in the series, so good. Highly recommend

Fighting for Cassidy

Wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Jane! This story is about Cassidy and Luis. It starts out with Cassidy being buried in her lab. What a way to start the story. It's amazing that Cassidy survives but she doesn't stop working to find the bombs that the mole planted. The story has us love this couple as they come to terms that their past needs to stay there. Cassidy goes through a lot but is very resilient when it comes to saving other people. Glad these two finally see they can be a couple. The last sentence was a total shock. FANTASTIC job Jane! I would highly recommend this book! Can't wait for Ella's book!

Once you start this series you literally can’t stop. Same for Cassidy’s story. You read and read and read and suddenly it’s over. The book is at the and with the last cliffhanger we have to wait for the last book. Still trying to figure out who the mole is while going through the journey of Cassidy and Luis. Two souls who think they ate worlds apart but in reality are close, and of course fighting for their lives and future while fighting the bad guys. Just another day in the office - no definetly not!

Be warned this is book 3 in a series and there is an ongoing plot even though it's a different couple. Jane weaves another great story of love blooming in the mist of danger. Cassidy is super smart but has not been given much love growing up. Luis is big on protection and not letting feeling emotions get involved. These two are thrown together after a bomb goes off, literally. What follow is journey of HEA or will it be ? There are more bombs and the mole has not be identified. If your up to date gobble this up if not get caught up.

Amazing book! She did it again!

When Cassidy gets almost blown up, agent Luis steps up as her bodyguard.

So well written. I love this author's writing style as it's so easy to read. A book that is loaded with action, suspense and full of romance.

Luis doesn't want to want her but the attraction is very strong and not able to be stopped. Their chemistry is vital to the story and makes the story impossible to put down.

I am so loving this series and I can't wait for more. It's really a must read book. Great book!

Cassidy is a genius. Born that way, raised. that way and now works for Prey as a chemist.

Cassidy and her team have developed a new wonder drug that is in its resting stage. Now someone is after the formula. Two of the ladies on the team have been attacked and now someone is after Cassidy. Special forces have taken on the duty of protection of the team. Nomad-is her guard and is very upset because just as he starts his job someone tries to blow up the lab and the woman. He saves her this time but the enemykeep coming after her.

Fighting for Cassidy is the third exciting book in the Athena Team series
Jane Blythe keeps you on the edge of your seat with her action packed stories that are full of suspense, mystery and romance.
Cassidy is a genius and is trying to figure out who the mole inside Prey is.
Luis is a Navy Seal that doesn't get close to anyone but he can't help but feel drawn to Cassidy.
This was such an exciting read and I cannot wait for Fighting for Ella!

This is the third book in this series and let me tell the author did not disappoint with this book. Cassidy is the one that created the drug that they are being targeted for. They will do anything to get their hands on it and I mean anything. Cassidy is the genius amongst the group and doesn't have the skills the other girls have so when she is being targeted Eagle Oswald founder of Prey security asked Luis to look after her to keep her safe. This is the last thing he wants to do since he doesn't like her. Cassidy is quiet and reserved and likes her space and doesn't want anyone in her space so when Luis has to move in with her it makes her very guarded. But he has a job to do and he is bound and determined to see it through whether he likes it or not. These two definitely have chemistry and when there is smoke there is always fire. So when Cassidy's life is in danger again he has more at stake if he loses her so he will move heaven and earth to get her back. I loved this book. If you like angst, action, heartbreak and steam and of course love then this book is for you. I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series. Loved them all.

This is the third book for the Prey Athena team and just like the previous 2 it was filled with action, suspense and romance.

Cassidy and Luis both have what they believe as insurmountable insecurities from their childhood. These two were wonderful to watch as they overcome their pasts.
Still fighting with the Athena team to find the Mole at Prey can’t wait for Ella’s story to bring it all together.
I have loved absolutely everything in this series!! Jane has done amazingly once again!!

As usual Jane Blythe kept me on the edge of my seat and up late at night. So far Cassie and Luis are my favorite! I think I shared Cassie's anxiety through the whole book. Not knowing who the mole is yet or where the other bombs are would be so stressful but Cassie had Luis by her side. Luis' worry for Cassie before they even recognized they liked each other was so precious. You can't deny an attraction like that. This book was an amazing, hold your breath read.

You can feel the pressure Cassidy is under as you dive into this book. Your heart goes out to her and makes you want to wrap her up. Luis displaying his venerability makes you respect him despite his own demons. The sweet yet steamy romance between them was enjoyable. The Seal team & their role in the rescue & support was an added bonus. Suspense & romance done brilliantly. Honest review.

This is my favourite of the series so far! Cassie and Luis’s story is a highly emotional rollercoaster of nonstop action and chemistry off the charts! I may have groaned in frustration at times but only because I needed to know RIGHT NOW what was going to happen! This book does not disappoint and it’s definitely at the scene for an explosive ending to the series! Can’t wait for the next one!!

Bravo Jane Blythe, another amazing story. Cassidy is a genius and she created the formula that the bad guys have been trying to get their hands on. Luis is the Navy Seal that becomes her bodyguard and they soon start a relationship that no one saw coming, especially Cassidy and Luis. This is a story filled with suspense, mystery, and of course romance.

i agree with one of the reader's review that it's getting rather repetitive. i think i need to take a break from this author's books because the inconsistency in execution is giving me an eyeroll, my eyes are not gonna roll back to the original spot soon.

both MCs are not likeable at all, and their inner monologue was annoying as hell. additionally, the villian and bombing thingy felt like an afterthought because it was so focused on creating drama between the MCs. overall, i don't like this book...

Cassidy is a genius. I felt so bad for the way her parents treated her as a child. Luis and Cassidy are complete opposites, but they are perfect for each other. There a lot of angst. The book is a roller coaster of suspense. It definitely had me turning the pages.

Luis & Cassidy's story didn't disappoint. They're perfect for each other. Cassidy is a sweet innocent genius and Luis is a rough around the edges Navy SEAL. They work through the lasting effects of childhood trauma. I'm looking forward to Ella's book, which is the final book in the series.
