Falling Slowly is part of the Cozy Creek Collection of small-town standalones. It is a steamy, full-length romantic comedy.
Enni Amanda is a graphic designer moonlighting as a rom-com author, or maybe it's the other way around. In 2006, she and her husband moved from Finland to New Zealand and fell in love with the gorgeous islands and their laid-back people. They spent eight years traveling between the two rather inconveniently located countries, studying filmmaking and running a film festival. Through all the filmmaking, Enni discovered a passion for screenwriting, which eventually led to writing books (a slippery slope). Her heart-warming, funny stories explore real-life issues like identity, found family, and the housing crisis. These days, she lives in the Waikato, close to the rolling hills of the Shire, raising two cute, rambunctious boys while writing away and ignoring housework.
Idk why I finished this when I wasn't invested in the story. I knew when I hit the 60% mark, I should've quit, but there are times when I decide to stick it out to see if something's going to happen. Unfortunately, nothing grand did, and in the end, it was just an underwhelming book for me.
I also didn't like the fact that Bess was full of prejudice, anger, and judgment against Charlie just because he's wealthy. Sure, he can be out of touch with some things, but he's interested in learning and becoming more understanding of other people and their situations. And yet, up until the 58%, her judgment didn't waver, and she's still hellbent on not giving him any chance.
Then there's the lying by omission of Charlie. I don't like deception in my books, so this part really frustrates me. I can't stand lying, and he had numerous chances to come clean but didn't do so.
Anyway, it didn't work for me, might work for others, though.
Thank you for taking a chance on my little (okay, rather thick) autumn read! I loved writing in this shared world and working with such a talented bunch of authors. It's been a dream come true!

Sending you all the autumn/fall vibes!!! From my imagination, mind you. I live in New Zealand where, at the time of this release, it's wet and wild early spring.
This is the first book I’ve read by Enni Amanda and I enjoyed it so much. A great story in this fun and cozy collection.
So many amazing tropes - workplace romance, forced proximity, small town and single mom.
Bess and Charlie are so fun, quirky and have amazing personalities. They get into some fun adventures when they are sent on a work trip.
Although they are a bit opposite, they really bring out the best in one another. I love how she taught him so much about his own company due to her own financial struggles. Both are a bit vulnerable and skittish of relationships but the more time they spend together they gained each other’s trust.
The hot tub/ swim suit scene is probably my favorite and I was laughing out loud…so amazing!!
Widowed, destitute single mother Bess is the low paid production talent and clean up artist behind the scenes at a prestigious but poorly managed family owned advertising agency. She feels that her immediate superior is flaky, wasteful, a spendthrift, and a bachelor with a revolving door of women, yet brilliant. She also may have a bit of crush on the blonde hunk.
Charlie has been attracted to Bess since she began working on his team, but his status as heir to the CEO precludes him from acting upon it. When he finds out that his ruthless father has callously and unilaterally decided to fire the majority of workers and replace them with AI. Bess of course is one of the first on the chopping block. Struck with an idea to keep her on by elevating her status, and with the help of his grandmother/office manager, he arranges for Bess to attend a weeklong artistic workshop in the idyllic mountain town of Cozy Creek.
Forced proximity and only one cabin lead to physical intimacy, and Charlie’s feelings are solidified: he’s all in with Bess and her daughter. Bess however, requires convincing, and as she’s been burned terribly by fate before, she’s reluctant to even entertain the notion that what they’ve found could be anything more than a brief sexual relationship, terminating at the end of their stay in Cozy Creek. Charlie aims for a more permanent arrangement, and his machinations to that end are quite entertaining, if a bit presumptuous.
This was a very good read. I knew Enni Amanda was a very talented book cover artist, having created the art for many of my favorite writers, so I’m very impressed by this unexpected talent as a writer as well. She created Bess as a devoted mother, daughter, and employee who’s had a very rough go of it but is never bitter. I appreciate the author exploring the stark financial, class, and privilege contrasts between Bess and Charlie. It’s informative and realistic but not preachy.
I was very fortunate to have received an advance reader copy from the author and bookfunnel, and I’m pleased to share my honest review.
2.5 ⭐'s Alright. Well, honestly, I don't know what to say. This was okay. Bess was a relatable and likable fmc in most aspects, but then she had that really weird thing about the morning after pill. It was to the point of almost obsession. And also the hammock scene. I was absolutely not a fan of that. Mostly because it's not fucking possible. Just google winter hammocks because that's the closest thing to this space-hammock-nightmare Charlie bought (ignore the cover because they didn't have one). It's not possible. I typically let a lot of things slide in books, like whatever man it's the authors vibe - but this was so outlandish to me I was just like there is not fuckin way. I've spent my fair share of time in hammocks bro, and that ish is dicey without all the extra activities. So, yeah, that really took me away from enjoying the story. Charlie was of course, another great mmc. It's pretty easy to get them right when you make them a golden retriever in person form. The only thing I will say it's things worked out too well. I have really bad conflict avoidance (#WeLoveTrauma) so I love the occasional book where things don't blow up super huge - but this. Yeah... Lu and Noah take me home and wrap this up with at least a four star please.
I was quickly invested in this great story by Enni Amanda. Charlie the boss’s son and Bess a single mum to Celia have worked together for two years. In this time she’s seen his philandering ways, what she doesn’t see is his almighty crush…on her. He’s crushed from afar , not acting upon it because of her being a widow. She has secretly desired her boss from afar unbeknown to him…but she thinks he’s an entitled hasn’t a clue , him do a jot of work ? He leaves it all for her to do…the jerk. Well this is the stuff that dreams are made of … Charlie takes a stance and begins a secret plan , to save Bess’s job , and become her man anyway he can , when his SOB dad decides to be a cad and replace his staff with AI ..oh man! He hatches a plot and gets his office manager mum onside , to send Bess away to a retreat to reside. She thinks she’s a winner of an all expenses paid , what she fails to realise it’s all a charade. It’s all he can think of to help save her from losing her position in the workplace. To her it’s a leisurely pace , to him a frantic save her job race. She can’t believe her darn luck when she sees her cabin for one but she has a surprise when Charlie turns up the schmuck. This is truly a masterpiece by an excellent artist who knows her craft so swell and from telling the story she doesn’t desist. This all plays out so marvellously well. The close proximity where they both gel to their getting to know and their cute interactions , you can just tell . He falls first and first to go but she’s soon playing catch up ,I’ll have you know. Deciding with glee they’re a perfect match up ..whoopee! There’s much to this epic tale but I’ll not bore you with them all , just know it’s good,, sexy and true to life fun and laugh you will and it’ll give you a thrill. Bravo Enni Amanda your marvellous storytelling couldn’t be grander. No airs no graces delusions of grandeur, an honest to goodness experience to read . The characters are all very different in trait, all superbly crafted and descriptive and great . Superb interactions and physical attractions , kept ME up all night thanks for distracting me from my bed now I’m off to sleep and that’s enough said. Bravo! I’m leaving my review voluntarily in my own musings.
Enni Amanda has a way of taking a potentially unloveable hero and turning him into the most amazing guy on earth. She finds the right words to turn him from a villain or nuisance into the man of your dreams.
Charlie is the boss's son and therefore has the privilege of having money to buy anything he wants, he also can't be fired (hence the nickname Broken Arrow) but needs to turn the latest campaign around to avoid company layoffs. On the other hand, Bess is barely making ends meet trying to support her daughter singlehandedly, is in massive debt and is about to be fired (although she doesn't know the last bit yet) but is incredibly creative. Charlie therefore arranges a week at an artists retreat disguised as a company bonus for Bess and conveniently turns up at the same retreat. One problem, there are no rooms left for Charlie and they end up sharing.
I loved Charlie's vulnerability, he didn't like what his father was doing to the company and the people who worked for him but he had no real pull in the company, despite what other people there thought. He's been trying to control his feelings for Bess for a long time, she works for him so he didn't want to ruin that but he admitted his feelings for her long before she reciprocated. Beth has been hurt in the past and wants to keep her heart safe, not to mention her precarious financial situation, something she knows Charlie knows nothing about so she can't risk her heart on someone who always appears to be bouncing from one thing to another with no commitment.
I loved the dynamic between Bess and Charlie, the flirty banter when Bess let her guard down. Charlie was honest about his feeling for Bess although not about his plans which didn't earn him brownie points.
This was a great introduction to Cozy Creek for me.
I absolutely adored this small-town romance. The wealth gap between the characters was handled so well, and I loved how they slowly grew attached to each other. The heroine, a struggling single mom who lost her husband, was such a relatable and strong character. Her little girl added so much warmth to the story, and I felt every bit of her struggle with the weight of her past and present debts.
The hero was addicted to Kickstarter, but he was also such a heartwarming person. He felt the connection first, and their chemistry was just wonderful. There was so much laughter and joy between them, and it was clear they brought out the best in each other.
The way their work situation forced them to pretend to be a couple for a week led to some hilarious and heartfelt moments. Watching their relationship evolve from coworkers to something much deeper was incredibly satisfying. This book is a must-read for anyone looking for a cozy, autumn romance filled with warmth, humor, and real-life challenges. I couldn’t put it down!
He is a dreamer with privilege who needs to revive his creative inspiration. She is a single mom who feels like the world is on her shoulders.
Charlie is addicted to throwing money into Kickstarter ideas. His impulsive nature has him buying the latest gadgets and inventions with no plans of actually using them. His creative mind has made his father money in their agency, but lately, Charlie has been stuck. And his father just informed him that he is going to do a massive firing in their office to make way for the future of AI. A massive layoff that would include the beautiful woman, Bess, that Charlie has a crush on. In the last minute of panic, Charlie decides to take Bess with him on the creative retreat his father is forcing him to attend.
Bess has been living in survival mode for close to two years. After her husband's death she was left with immense debt as a single mom. Her part time job at the agency has been just enough to keep her afloat but little extra. Bess doesn't like this un-fun and anxious version of herself which is why she hides herself in plain sight. She is the order to her boss Charlie's chaos and no one other than he knows it. So when Bess gets an invite to a creative retreat in nearby Cozy Creek she doesn't understand why she was picked.
When Bess shows up at the resort she sees Charlie and learns he is here for the retreat too. Unfortunately, they only have one reservation in a cabin with only one bed. Bess's self defeatist attitude knew this was too good to be true. But when Charlie tries to talk her out of her negative thoughts she wishes for a world where she doesn't have the burdens she carries.
Charlie had one week to convince Bess to give him a chance. He has manipulated this whole situation to get her attention, all the while keeping the news of the imminent loss of job from her. He knows this has the possibility of ending horribly, but is willing to do almost anything to give it a try.
Dual POV, single mom, fake relationship, open door love scenes.
I really struggled with the story. So many red flags.
Spoilers ahead.
Here we go: Bess is her own worst enemy. Yes, her situation was difficult and unfortunate. But her overall negative attitude and woe-is-me disposition was hard to read. I understand characters need to be imperfect to grow but she was like a dark rain cloud everywhere she went. Charlie is definitely a Peter Pan figure of immaturity and the innocence of wealthy privilege. Both were toxic but mostly to themselves, not to each other. On paper, this couple should not work. His head is too far in the clouds for a real relationship with real world consequences. She is stuck in the selfish indulgence of her own downward spiral. The oppressive feeling of knowing Charlie's lies upon lies are coming for him was tough to read. The couple lacked chemistry and even joked about Stockholm syndrome and kidnapping to make their insta-love relationship work. A potential pregnancy was discussed and super messy. Ultimately, Charlie is a charming man that helps Bess make a better life for herself. Once out of that survival mode, Bess can focus on who she wants to be without debt dominating all her choices. This was not the cozy Autumnal, soft core read I was expecting. That's my fault. There is a nice HEA and awkward Epilogue. There is a bonus Epilogue but I chose not to read it.

Oh, gosh this story was beautiful and I adored it from the beginning. Falling Slowly part of the Cozy Creek Collection features Charlie and Bess. Bess with her struggles definitely tugged at your emotions and Charlie just deserved to be loved. This work place, forced proximity one cabin romance was just a dream to read. The connection between the characters, Bess trying to do her best for her daughter and all set in Fall in a magical small town was perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and would highly recommend it! I received a complementary copy from Booksirens.
The story shows us that true love can appear from nowhere and that we should risk it all and fall in love. We must accept that it's not only about two of you but actually more.
The beginning of the book wasn't exactly for me. I don't live like FMC, with the life of a widow, piles of bills and a child. I can't relate to that. MMC I loved already because his identity is close to me. He loves creating things, making a mess and having a nice reliable face to clean his mess. He appreciates this, because he's not a bad person at all. He's just messy.
They go to Cozy Creek, where everything begins, to save FMC's job. The story is full of romance and love, as well as guilt.
I am becoming a fan of the first spicy scenes in the books. You can't imagine how emotional I was at the time of reading. It's not just about olala; it's more than that. Emotional intimacy. That's just gorgeous.
I love this man's ideas: “If Google One ever extended their services to preserving sexual memories, I’d sign up for life.“
I don't have a child, so I can't fully comprehend FMC's hesitations. You have an absolutely perfect man who is loving and caring. Despite this, you're willing to… (Iwillnotputspoileraecebdontask). In any case, don't do this in real life. Fall in love and risk it all!
After all, I applaud this author for choosing not to follow the well-trodden path of clichés. I was initially daunted by the prospect of a predictable conclusion, but I was pleasantly surprised by the author's bold choice.
This book is fantastic. The man is perfect, and it's a joy to read. What more could you want from a book?
This is my first book by Enni Amanda and I was NOT disappointed. Her writing creates believable characters and beautiful worlds.
This book is set in Cozy Creek, Colorado at an art retreat in a beautiful resort town. With picturesque mountains and stunning fall scenery. Our couple works together but are both crushing without the other one knowing. She knows they can't be together, not only because they are colleagues but because he's the bosses son. She's been through so much and has a young daughter to think of. Struggling to make ends meet and taking on extra hours. She knows he can provide for her and her daughter but can she risk her heart again? The story is filled with fun banter and great spice. And of course, a fall setting we all wish was in our back yard.
Thank you Enni for the ARC of this book. This review is being left voluntarily.
i jsut did not enjoy it i just wanted to finish it it probably doesnt count as a proper read i was starting to skim it was difficult i dont enjoy it it wasn't good imo idk i dont even have good reason i just didnt like it it was long man
This was cute- I don’t usually love the single parent trope but the kid was adorable- the MFc was a little annoying but it was still a cute cosy fall read.
I wonder if I'm reading the same book as the people rating this 5 stars? This was so dry and boring that I had to skim the last 10 chapters.
Bess was prejudice the whole time about wealthy people and the life she "assumed" they had which was mansions, a garage full of cars and money to throw around like candy but when she gets to know Charlie, who she has worked with directly for two years, she starts to think there might be more to him.
That doesn't mean she is a interesting character though. If she was not being prejudice toward Charlie, she was being self deprecating toward herself, always being pessimistic toward her financial situation and being dry toward a man who is openly expressing his feelings toward her and trying to understand her on a personal level.
Bess was also really dumb - who is incredibly financially tight but is working part time at a company instead of looking for full time she she can be guaranteed 40 hours in a week and health insurance? This is also the same woman that is freaking out for 8 pages about the morning after pill and after Charlie gets one of his employees to drive 2 hours to bring it to them (because he can't leave Bess for two seconds with her broken foot) she drops it while she takes it on the patio and is still looking for it the next morning ! That scene was so absurd that it was my go ahead to skim the rest.
By far the most annoying person was Theresa. I'm glad she was only in 5 chapters because I wanted her thrown out the window asap. it look a 60 year old grandmother to calm her down and her antics because of course Bess was a doornail.
Of course, the end was anti climatic with betrayal and heartbreak from Charlie not being honest. blah blah blah. I don't even want to get into the whole thing about her maybe or not being pregnant for a good 7 chapters. I don't even know why that was added into the book.
This might be the last one I read from this fall series because so far, #2 has been the only good one.
Love Hallmark Channel Movies? Then you'll LOVE Falling Slowly by @enniauthor. This book paints a picture perfect visual of a cozy Hallmark town. Will all the vibes of friendly coworkers to lovers you fall for Charlie and Bess' relationship the way they fell for each other. Throw in a night spent together in a hammock because you went off path during a nature hike to see some elk get it on 😏😏😏 and you've got some good comedy too!

@enniauthor thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC. I apologize for it being posted late. I started back at work as a full time preschool teacher and this first week was tiresome 😂
⚠️ I was given the e-arc in exchange for my honest review. ⚠️
This installment in the Cozy Creek series was one of my favorites. In this one, we follow Bess, a single mom who attends a week-long luxury art retreat with her boss’s very hot son, who’s secretly been pining for her for two years. To keep away the overly flirty attendees, Bess agrees to pretend to be his girlfriend, and of course, things don’t stay pretend for long.
Nothing about this story particularly stood out as amazing, but it was still an enjoyable and easy read. I appreciated that, while it used the single-parent trope, her daughter wasn’t present for the entire story, it allowed the romance to develop more naturally.
A quick, feel-good small-town romance with a light dose of fake dating and just enough charm to keep you turning the pages.
Great cozy read. I don't always like books in which the couple start out tricking/lying to each other but in this case Charlie is trying to do a nice thing for Bess even though he doesn't understand much about her.
Charlie is the classic rich, boss' son with no clue how most of his colleagues are treated or what they have to do to survive. But he's willing to learn and is truly there for Bess rather than simply trying to throw money at her problems as he learns more about her situation. He certainly still made mistakes but that's to be expected.
Lots of twists kept me turning the e-pages. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
My Review: Each book each done by a different authors but based around the cutest town, what’s more to love !
I fell in love with Charlie in this one. He’s cute tad but immature but completely miss understood ! Bess starts to realise that and love is in the air between work colleagues !!!
I really enjoyed this series BUT book 3 (Fall at Once) & book 5 (Fall Me Maybe) has been my favourite books out of the series
Read this for:
🍁 Romantic Comedy 🍁 Boss to lovers 🍁 He falls first 🐕🦺 Golden Retriever 🌶️ Spice

So first off I noticed there really wasn’t a lot of focus on cozy creek like in the other books. I also didn’t like how immature both of them acted and it also felt like he wanted her to get pregnant so she’d be forced to stay with him.
Also the name of the book is falling slowly but the literally “fell in love” in less than 6 days and within 2 months they were a family and starting a company and nothing felt more out of place than the title of the book.

Bess and Charlie’s romance starts off a bit slow, and I found myself reading just a couple of pages at a time. It took a while to fully immerse myself in their story, but once they arrived at the retreat—sharing a cabin and forced proximity—the narrative finally grabbed my attention.
What makes their relationship compelling is how different they are. Bess comes from a working-class background, while Charlie is wealthy, creating an intriguing dynamic. Their obliviousness to each other’s feelings adds both humor and frustration to the story. I found myself internally yelling at them to just acknowledge their feelings already!
One aspect that really bothered me was Charlie’s dishonesty about Bess’ job situation. I could understand his intentions to protect Bess, but the prolonged lie left me feeling frustrated—something that would have made me furious if I were in Bess’s shoes.
While the first part of the book was enjoyable, the last 15% felt unnecessarily drawn out. It started to drag, making the final stretch a bit of a struggle to get through. I wish it had been trimmed down for a tighter, more engaging ending.
Overall, it was a cute read with its fair share of charm. I’d rate it 3.5 stars, but since half-star ratings aren’t allowed, I’ll round it up to 4. The spice level was a mild 2/5.
As an ARC reader, I’m glad I had the chance to dive into Bess and Charlie’s world and I’d call this an overall pleasant read.
This book got me. At first I honestly didn’t think I was going to like it. I didn’t care for Charlie he seemed like such a flake and she really didn’t appeal to me too much either. Then, I kept reading and his sweetness really shined through and she made a lot more sense once you got her full story. It was a sweet story that had me “Falling Slowly” for them.
I really honestly struggled to finish this one. It was sweet in a lot of ways and their relationship unique in comparison to the other ones in this series but I just had a hard time feeling motivated to finish it.
3.5 stars. Not my favourite of the series but still a good cozy read. I liked the characters a lot and the plot I just felt it was very rushed at the end which kind of ruined it a bit for me
