Silly, Cyn. You should have known better than to run from your husband. And Then There Were None meets Harper's Island meets 90s classic Scream in this new slasher dark romance that's perfect for Halloween...
Five years after her husband's tragic death, Cynthia Preston is doing her best to move on.
That might have been a mistake...
(full description coming soon!)
* My Wife is a single-POV dark romance that relies heavily on the slasher horror genre, includes open-door sex scenes, profanity, on-page death, and a HEA that is perfect for the characters... well, the ones that survive, that is.
This book is all but safe... It's continuous cheating lol. I never thought I'd say it but I kinda enjoyed it? I dunno, I'm still confused about how I feel.
SPOILERS: there are basically two Heroes in this story: two best friends who are both in love with the heroine. When they're young, she's with Tommy but then falls in love with Clay (and she cheats on Tommy), her and Clay get married later on. Long story short, Clay disappears for 5 years and she gets back with her ex Tommy (while her husband is still alive, unbeknownst to her). Some time later, at the end of the story, we find out Tommy was cheating during the relationship, with a lame ass excuse. It's just a whole mess

There’s a part in the book where the main character, Cyn, says she feels like she’s in “a B-rated slasher film with an ending that makes no fucking sense”. That’s exactly what this book feels like.
Thoughts: I really wanted to give this book 5 🌟 but it said Cheating was only cause she thought her husband was dead… well rip my heart out Carin Hart, that wasn’t entirely true, depending on how you look at it!!! Clay is obsessed with Cyn (Cynthia). From the moment he saw her he plotted to make her his. Clay is constantly saying MY WIFE!! I loved the depth and loyalty they had to each other.
***spoilers - whole story*** The book sometimes does a quick flash back so this is told in chronological order. Cyn and Tommy dated in high school and really loved each other. Cyn’s mother drowned at Halo Island when she was a senior. The police said it was suicide. Cyn never believed it. Tommy wanted Cyn to move in with him to finish high school but she couldn’t when his family were always around and she needed privacy and quiet. So Clay, Tommy’s BFF offered her to move in with him. His parents were never there and he was an only child. Over time Clay and Cyn grew close and she ended up cheating on Tommy, confessed and started dating Clay full time. (Not the cheating issue I had, just fyi… it’ll come later) After high school, Clay and Cyn moved away. Cyn wanted to get away from the rumors that she killed her mom and the fact that she was easy and trying to get with everyone. At a party in high school, Chase, another friend, tried to force her to give him a BJ and then told everyone she came onto him. Summer and Maddison told Violet (Vee) to tell Chase (while he was drunk) that she wanted him and start rumors about her being a slut. 5 years later, Clay goes missing. No trace, whatsoever and liters of blood all over his abandoned car. Making it clear that with the amount of blood, Clay was dead, just no body found. Cyn is a shell of herself. She loved Tommy but Clay was her soul, her world. She couldn’t move on, with anything. She has a funeral for Clay and Tommy shows, she hadn’t seen him in a few years. Tommy tries to be there for Cyn but she is very resistant at first. But she keeps hearing Clays voice saying “If anything happens to me, lean on Tommy”. So Cyn sells their house and moves back to her hometown. Tommy is still friends with the high school group. Clay and Cyn were the only ones to get out of town. Cyn feels less than around the group, especially with Summer and Maddison. Vee and Cyn’s relationship seems to be better, like Vee matured out of high school. Clearly Summer and Maddison didn’t. Over the years, Tommy tries to start a relationship with Cyn again but she is clear with him that she could never remarry as that was a hard line for her. Tommy is always understanding and kind, caring and anticipating her needs. He is late getting home and secretive lately. When he reveals he was planning a week getaway to help get her to relax around Clay’s 5 yr death anniversary, she is relieved. Even though she cheated in high school, they put the past behind them. Tommy genuinely loves Cyn and would do anything for her. The get away is at Halo Island, with all the old friend group. Cyn really doesn’t want to go but is making an effort to be better for Tommy. They go and Summer is constantly all over Tommy. He tries to curb her touches but Summer is a bitch. They are skinny dipping in the lake and Vee swears she sees someone in the woods. They can’t find anyone. The next morning, Vee is dead. She fell down a ravine. Cyn is seeing someone else in the shadows too. Then Tyler, Summer’s husband, stabbed. The killer reveals himself and it’s Clay… HER HUSBAND!!! Then Maddison and Summer. Maddison was put on display, and Summer has her throat cut and tongue ripped out. Chase is hot and left for dead. Clay helps Cyn finish off Clay. Clay tells Cyn why all this happened. Basically when he caught CYN DROWNING HER MOTHER in high school, he blackmailed Cyn away from Tommy. Cyn’s mom told her she had to move out so her boyfriend could move in. She raised Cyn to 18 and it was her time to focus on herself. Cyn flipped a switch and killed her. And Cyn really did fall for Clay. But Cyn would say “you don’t know what it’s like to take a life”. So now Clay does. Tommy shows up and Cyn is afraid Clay will hurt him. Tommy reveals he is in on it. After Clay stole Cyn, Tommy demanded her back. They both decided that Tommy had her for 4 years, Clay would get her for 5, and then Tommy had a chance again to make Cyn love him. Then they’d both get her together. But in order for Tommy to truly have a chance, Clay had to die. Then Clay reveals why each of the group had to die. Aaron and Tyler were collateral. Vee because she helped start rumors and help convince Chase to SA her. Chase because of the SA. Maddison because she was a hoe and Summer’s lackey. And Summer, because she was a constant bitch but mainly (and this is why I was mad about the cheating) because Summer was blackmailing Tommy to sleep with her or Summer would tell Cyn Clay was alive. They never found out how she knew. But they couldn’t risk it so for a few weeks before they left for Halo Island, Tommy was sleeping with Summer. This tares Cyn up. Tommy swore it was only so Summer didn’t ruin their plan and he always wore protection. Cyn can’t get over this. She tries and they all do a group activity by doing DP!! But ultimately… Cyn turns out to be just as psychotic as Clay and forces them to choose. Who loves her the most, who would kill their best friend to be with her. Clay doesn’t even hesitate. Bye bye Tommy. Rip my heart out Carin Hart!!!! Clay and Cyn fake her death so they can be free. HEA

Yall need to read this 😫 though slightly predictable as all slasher “movies” are, this is one of the best slasher/smut books I have ever read. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. This whole book had me on the edge of my seat and the twists and turns made it that much better! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5.
I seriously almost DNF’d this book with all of 3 chapters left to read but I pushed through. Booktok failed me with this recommendation. Not only was the story rushed at the ending. Various part made 0 sense and there were so many grammatical errors my elementary school ELA teacher would’ve given it an F. I shouldn’t have to edit mistakes in my head while I’m reading. This was a finished novel not a first draft, not that I could tell the difference either way.
Mind blown!! Beyond the obvious plot twist, there were a few extra plot twists that were absolutely delicious! This read was dark, dirty, and dramatic. I ate this book up, and processed to purchase more books by Carin.
I had a great time listening/readind this book. I really did have all the feelings of one of my favorite horror favorites “Scream”. Cyn in this book is definitely Sidney Prescott but instead of unaliving Billy and Stu she ends up with Billy. Our FMC is Cyn Preston and she lost her husband to a car accident five years prior to the events of the book. Our MMC is Clay Rivers, Cyn’s “dead” husband who is pretty upset with Cyn for moving on. If you were a fan of sl*sher horror movies growing up especially Scream then this is definitely a book you need to sit down and read/listen too. This audiobook is told through diet narration by the wonderful Maeve York and Walker Williams. The spice in this book this great too. We go not really get any spice scenes until Clay comes back into the story but when he does it’s definitely a good time. I would give this a 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5 for spice.
A bit predictable but still had one shocking factor I didn’t see coming. I wish the book summary didn’t already spoil so much of what was to happen in this book. But it was still an entertaining read. 🔪
A very dark, slasher romance. You’d think the MMC ends up being the most fucked up out of the characters, but someone else Scooby Doo villain unmasks themselves. And it was not who I was expecting.
The whole premise as to why the book turns into a slasher is kind of baseless in my opinion. Once the perpetrators intentions are revealed, I rolled my eyes so hard. Just disappointing and kind of stupid if you ask me. The only thing that saved it for me is the down and dirty screwing that several of the characters end up getting into. There are nearly enough scenes in my opinion, but the ones that do happen are pretty good!
The ending was a very sweet HEA for the characters who remain in the end, which was kind of a juxtaposition to the rest of the storyline. Kind of a conundrum of a story to be honest. It was just okay if I’m being honest, and I did consider giving up a couple of times. But it picks up once the FMC reaches the island so I’m glad I didn’t DNF this one.
oh my fucking god! everything was perfect!! THE GORE!! THE PLOT TWIST(S)!!! this just might be my new favorite book 1000/10 everything this girl writes i absolutely love ❤️ this is the perfect halloween book it felt like an episode of the twilight zone 😳
So repetitive. And did anyone proof read this? The amount of spelling and grammatical errors was insane. Had really good potential but I don't know how many times she needed to say "my mom died on halo island" or "you left me for FIVE YEARS CLAY"

phew, what a book! what a story! so, we have Tommy, Clay and Cyn as friends since high school, Tommy and Cyn are a couple, but Clay likes her too. After Cyn's mother dies, Tommy wants to move in with her, but she refuses because his house is too crowded and since Clay lives alone, she moves in with him. not long after, a relationship develops between the two, and after he cheats on Tommy, in the end, she leaves him and marries Clay. clay disappears and is declared dead and at the funeral Tommy makes his appearance and 5 years later we find out that the two are a couple again and live together. because the 5th anniversary of Clay's death is approaching, Tommy decides to surprise Cyn and go to an island for a few days, where her mother died some time ago, together with the group of friends from high school.
on the island we find out that the girls in the group are bad with Cyn and one by one they start to be killed. in the end the criminal appears and what do you see? is none other than Clay.we find out that in the five years of separation he was not with anyone because he is obsessed with her, while she was fine with Tommy:
"It’s only ever been you for me. Even while we were apart, there was no one else. And she thought I’d risk pissing you off by letting her touch me? Never. If I’m taking pussy as a bribe, there’s only one I want.” and she thinks: "Why does a small frisson of pleasure wind its way through me when I hear that, wherever he was while he was gone, he stayed loyal?".
“You promised me your loyalty,” he grates out between clenched teeth. A muscle tics in his cheek. “How long was I in the ground before you let Tommy fuck you the first time?”
My heads jerks as if he slapped me. It’s my fault? He disappeared and, after three years, I found solace with an old boyfriend, and it’s my fault?
“I thought you were dead,” I snap at him. “You were supposed to be dead."
I ask, “What were you doing anyway? All that time you were gone… what were you doing?”
His eyes snap open. “Counting down the minutes until I could be with my wife again.”
after some back and forth the two of them share a moment and Clay tells her that Tommy cheated on her: "You and Tommy… he got to touch you. Taste you. Fuck you… and only when he was too busy fucking Summer Kaye did I even get his scraps."
"No. No. Tommy isn't cheating on me. Fucking Summer?” I remember those besotted looks, the way he insisted we be friends, how he's been so secretive lately... coming home late... There never was going to be a proposal was there? No... "I saw them. Plenty of times. Hell, they were in a motel together last week."
in the end we find out that Tommy cheated because he was blackmailed just like Cyn was blackmailed by Clay to leave Tommy after he found out that she killed her mother.
“Don’t be upset, baby. I didn’t tell you to be upset. Tommy didn’t pick Summer over you. You know that. He wouldn’t do that. But she made him. Just like I made you. Does that make it better?”
“Because the lives we had are over with now. We’re starting over now. You. Me. Clay. Just like it should’ve always been.”
“Don’t be worried if this is all too much. Believe me, it took years for Tommy to convince me this was the right thing to do. That it wasn’t fair that he had you first, and I stole you. So we made an agreement. I got you for five years. Seventeen to twenty-two. With me out of the picture, he got the next five years to make you love him. Then, once you did, I get to come back and we both get you for the rest of our lives.”
we find out that there are actually two criminals because Clay was helped by Tommy to kill those in the group. to make matters worse, they have a threesome and in the end they kill Tommy and Cyn fakes her death to have HEA with Clay.
“One of you has to love me most of all,” I purr. “More than yourself. More than your best friend.” Now I shrug, dropping my hands to my waist, fisting my hips as I dare them both: “Prove it.”
clay is obsessed with Cyn but he shares her and moreover he lets tommy be with her for 5 years, so nothing makes sense in the end, at least in my head.

You know I should have just DNF'ed it. But it had to mention Scream and so I had to finished this book out of spite and righteous anger for three fictional characters who were slandered in this clear floundering attempt to give Billy Loomis the girl.
Some Thoughts immediately after finishing this:
I cannot think of any book where so much happened and I felt so little
This felt like a Scream try-hard
Shockingly Bad Writing
1st Big Revel happened at the 50% mark like what????
Literally I hate everyone
2nd Big Revel was the least shocking of all and the 1st big revel was in the blurb about the book
3rd Big Revel was probably the real victim of this book
Morally Black is an understatement. This is bad people doing bad things for no other reason than they want to.
This is not successful at much of anything it sets out to do. Below is my CAWPILE rating.
Characters:
Clayton “Clay” Rivers - MMC, hollow and felt like he only existed because of the FMC. His sociopathy seemed to be as much of shock to the FMC as it was the reader’s. Which is weirder even still when then find out that he new that she killed her mother and was blackmailing her into sleeping with him. Such weird Misogyny from a guy who co-signed her getting back together with her ex (with her ex, like this was their plan, so why is she a whore?)
Cynthia “Cyn” Preston-Rivers - FMC, a shell of Sidney Prescott. This was truly shocking at how bad this was done. Sid is truly of of my favourite Final Girls. She is smart and witty and sure of herself. Cyn is none of these things. Not because the author wrote a flawed character who matches the unhingedness of her MMC, and is willing to match his freak. Because that would have been ideal. Prime and perfection. She could have easily discovered that her husband was killing these people for revenge for her and I don’t know joined him. Waste of a character parallel.
Thomas “Tommy” Gillis - 2nd Male Lead, what the fuck is even going on here.
Ensemble - Literally nothing to see here. Names on pages.
Atmosphere:
Literally the only saving grace of this farce. The Town was not really alive or well described. The Island the only well described place and that I could picture it and the layout made sense most of the time. The FMC does seem to be able to loop the island and not run into Tommy when she was looking for him.
Writing:
This was very clunky to read. There were too many details about somethings and not enough about others. The scene setting on the island was ok. The character descriptions were lacking. I think this story would have benefited from multiple POVs
Plot:
Outside of the characters, this is my biggest problem. The plot was somehow too fast and too slow. Pacing What Pacing? The order of the killings made no sense (Something that tends to be important in horror movies with bigger ensembles , like Scream). The big revels seem like there was no thought went into them, One was in the book blurb - Her husband is there and a killer, Two was obvious ( Not really an issue) - The boyfriend and husband are working together, and Three was weirder even still - She killed her mother, because she wanted to (?) Also, the two men working together even though there was clearly opposition from the MMC. Like it felt like all of this plot was being autogenerated as I was read it. This whole story could be been made better if Cyn had just joined in with Clay when he reveled himself to her. Cyn being a socio too was wholly empty based on her actions in most of the novel. This wasn’t a twist or an unreliable narrator for the story. It was bad writing. It's so close to be deus ex machina it’s insane.
Intrigue:
I said it before and I'll say it again;I actually finished this book out of spite and righteous anger for three fictional characters who were slandered in this clear floundering attempt to give Billy Loomis the girl.
Logic:
Literally no logic found here
Enjoyment:
Haven’t hated something this much in a long time.

So the first part of this book felt so well thought out and really had me on the edge of my seat even though I knew ( kinda )what was gonna happen. But a few pages before the ending or more likely the ending it self felt unthought out and was just there for the ‘shock value’ but was mainly weird and extra crazed ( IF THATS YOUR THING THEN YOU DO YOU, IN THIS BOOK ITS NOT MY CUP OF TEA). It felt like she was trying to add things that made the Cyn more unhinge( so that she’ll be more comfortable with everything that happened. I personally feel she loved him so much that she would’ve ignored it and I feel that would’ve made more since, but I digress).
Spoilers: At the end of the book it’s reviled that she really did kill her mother in the river that they went back to. And that her husband (Clay) watched the entire thing and ‘forced’ her to commit sexual acts with him as well as be with him as his girlfriend. She admitted at the end she only offered to do what ever he wanted because she wanted him to stay silent, and that she didn’t think he’ll want her but she went with it anyway and honestly liked it, because to her it showed that he was unhinged and obsessed with her. This is more of that nature that felt she wanted to throw more things in there to make the book more interesting.
ALSO she blames it on being an only child, and I am too and that just was a little weird and felt like a bad rep, I cringed on the inside. Her boyfriend ( Tommy/Thomas ) was the somewhat a master mind. He was apart of it from the beginning and convinced Clay to do the whole thing. It’s also well to mention that he cheated on her with summer. He said it was to protect Cyn because she knew her secret. But it still left a bad taste my mouth and I was kind of over the book when I heard it.
I felt like if she wanted to add that she was unhinged, she should’ve did it throughout the book because what happens at the end would make more sense of her telling them to prove to her that they’re her one and only and that they don’t love each other more. At the end, she basically says whoever kills other, loves me more and I’ll be with them Clay killed Tommy and they had a moment and they ran off happily ever after. It wouldn’t make sense to a girl being a perfectly harmless damsel in destress to end up. being the most dangerous person, and has everyone falling at her feet( especially because she seems more like a pushover the whole book. I felt like it would’ve been better to be like she was pretending the entire time with adding little glimpses that she’s pretending.
I think she tried really hard at the end to make them so obsessed that she should cut the book after there moment when he caught her, which would’ve been so much better then we could’ve gotten another book of them killing together, but yeah. I usually don’t give reviews but the ending was just weird ending and wanted to share.
This book has cheating, omd, owd, fake death side characters, death of side character, fake death of main character, mentions of murder, graphic descriptions of murder, bullying( to main character), extreme obsession x3,etc.

For connoisseurs of campy, blood-soaked B-movie slashers, prepare to be drawn into a world of instant, visceral thrills! From the very first page, this story promises an unapologetic homage to the genre you love.
The narrative opens with the devastating disappearance of Cyn's husband, leaving behind a scene so grotesquely violent, so drenched in blood, that there's no question he must be dead – despite the chilling absence of a body. The gaping abyss of unanswered questions haunts Cyn's every waking moment, forcing her to grapple with an unimaginably cruel reality.
After years spent adrift in a sea of grief and gnawing suspicion, Cyn finally takes tentative steps towards rebuilding her shattered life. Her unexpected solace comes in the form of her late husband's best friend – a man who also happens to be her own complicated ex. Their rekindled connection is a delicate dance between healing and guilt, two souls seeking an unconventional comfort in the shadow of a shared, unspeakable tragedy.
But just as a fragile sense of normalcy begins to settle, he decides to whisk her away on a seemingly romantic getaway to a remote, idyllic island. The catch? This isn't just any island; it's the very place where her own childhood trauma began, a site steeped in dark secrets and unresolved drama. With such a history, how could things possibly not go horribly, catastrophically wrong? The idyllic facade quickly cracks, revealing unsettling echoes of the past and a dreadful premonition that this supposed escape is truly a trap.
From the first chilling discovery to the very last desperate breath, this relentless slasher keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, their hearts pounding in their chests. The narrative twists and turns with a vicious unpredictability, mirroring the desperate struggle of the victims attempting to claw their way to freedom. Expect an adrenaline-fueled ride packed with shocking revelations right up to its unforgettable, blood-soaked climax.
It’s been a couple of days, and this book is still on my mind. “My Wife” by Carin Hart is the first I have read by this author. It captured my interest in a BookBub email promoting books. I read dark romance when the mood strikes, but not slasher. However, the blurb roped me in. The wife is Cynthia “Cyn” Preston Rivers, widowed at 22. The crime scene was bloody, there was no way Clayton “Clay” Rivers could survive. But no body. Eventually, Cyn turns to former high school boyfriend, Thomas “Tommy” Gillis. She returns to California and starts her life over. The weekend was supposed to be one for making new, better memories. Halo Island, the place where her mother died during her last year of high school is the destination. Where Clay, Tommy, and Cyn had spent numerous hours frolicking and playing in high school. Where friends and high school tormentors alike roamed. Tommy gathered a group together to celebrate the upcoming Halloween. The timing was also the anniversary of Clay’s death. Reluctantly, Cyn agreed to go. I don’t want to get too much into the plot except to say the twists and turns keep the reader from putting the book down. Body’s do start dropping while the masked killer roams the island. The story contains a lot of steamy, passionate, highly erotic scenes. The single point of view is from Cyn. Great characters, well thought out plot, well paced. Not just for Halloween! Read at your own risk or if anything bothers you, check out the trigger list. Once started, it is difficult to put down because everything in the story is there for a reason and it works from beginning to end. Grab this one if you are a fan of the dark romance genre. Definitely recommended.
Only 60% done with it but, my god!, does this woman have an editor?!
I'll be back later to review it if I finish it.... But those typos are outrageous (ex mountain lines instead of lions, hard instead of heart, I like my lips *I assume lick* Justin case *lmao is this a new friend Justin case? Stfu! *.. Etc) sometimes half the sentence is written with typos. I don't understand this. Was it written on your phone? Did you never look at it again? Is this a wattpad story that you didn't bother to redo before publishing? Not even a spell check. Are your readers just not worth even a spell check? I'm just confused.
The plot is obvious from the title and I knew that going in so I can't be too hard on that.
I'm back.... Spoiler alert**** *

The reason the fmc murdered her mom is so ridiculously laughable! "she was choosing Rick over me. She was rejecting me. She had to die" 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
I actually finished it. I give this 1.5 stars bc I actually finished it. But I hated most of it. It could have been good but just wasn't
Star Rating: 3.5⭐️ Spice: 2 🌶️ I LOVE a good thriller that leaves me on the edge wanting more and this checked that box for me. Also who doesn’t love a little bit of spice 🌶️I am a slasher film junkie and this was just that. A little spice and a little 90s slasher film all wrapped into one. The ending is predictable in the way most “slashers” are but I was drawn in and just had to know the ending. Cyn hit the right amount of sass and ended up being just a little crazy. Tommy and Clay gave me Stu and Billy vibes and I loved it😍 Summary: Cyn loses her husband Clay in a freak car crash and is left trying to pick up the pieces of losing the love of her life. Tommy her husbands best friend comes to the funeral to help her try and do just that. After 5 years Cyn has to face the place where her mom died and the place that turned it all around for her. Will she and her friends survive the night? Will she see that even after everything she is still Clays “wife”. Fav Character(s): Clay, Tommy And Cyn Fav Quote(s) If leaving bodies behind is a way to get you to understand how much I fucking love you, no one is safe.” He’s suddenly dead serious as he adds, “I can’t exist without Lou I
I need to go touch some grass after this book because lord, I’m just unwell. This slasher dark romance was not it for me. The whole friend group was so immature. This is supposed to be ten years after high school but they’re all still sleeping with each other even though some are married and they’re all still salty about stuff that happened when they were in high school.
I thought Cyn’s husband’s coming back from the dead was going to have a really deep and meaningful backstory. Again, it was something so immature. Because they both wanted her for the same amount of time. Very odd and confusing. I’m still not sure what Tommy & Clay’s original plan was after killing the entire friend group on the island.
I’ll say that the plot twist shocked me for sure. I never would’ve pictured Tommy & Clay working together on this. I found it odd that Tommy was trying to take Cyn back to the island where her mom died. He said he wanted to create better memories for her there but the girls in the friend group were bitches to her from the beginning. Just all around a confusing read😂

I just couldn’t finish it. I got to the point T man got offed and I just couldn’t like the husband. I know we were supposed to with all the backstory and emotions with it but I skipped a lot of those parts because it was getting boring with her droning on and on about her dead husband while she’s supposedly moved on with her current boyfriend yet she doesn’t seem to give a shit about him. She just doesn’t love him even when it builds up and she’s supposed to love both of them she is biased. I liked the idea of husband dying then coming back to kill her tormentors and even with T man being in on it but it gets muddy once they all are in one room and I just can’t like it. I had to stop I tried hoping I could finish it but with T man gone I just can’t. We’re supposed to not like him I guess with the cheating thing but the big reveal of all the secrets it just seems so meh I couldn’t hate him.

The book was wordy! Thats the biggest issue i had with reading this. So much of the story was telling and not showing, so much internal dialog instead of spoken conversations between characters. And the time jumps in the beginning made it feel kinda impersonal, like we missed a huge chunk of story that would have helped connect with the characters more. If we had gotten that this would have been a 4 or even 5 star read for me but i feel i can only give it a 3/3.5.
I did have to skim read a lot and skipped some pages altogether to get through the book. The plot twists weren't over the top and the one kinda really annoyed me but i did really like the ending. The lengths the MCs are willing to go to for the FMC were great and i will say that one part towards the end (cant give spoilers) was really good and i felt it was the perfect outcome considering everything they were put through.
