Some say that if you DNF a book you should not rate it.
There are instances where I agree because the DNF status of a book might occur because of my lack of trying and I really feel it woulf be unfair to judge because I've been lazy.
On other occasions, though, I say "rate away" amd express yourself, because I tried and the DNF status has been reached anyway.
So, yeah, DNF this one and slapped 1-star on it. Meaning I most definitely did NOT like it. At all.
It was weird.
It was a bit creepy.
It was what I call "porn in context" and while I might like me some smut and some dirty dirty action I like it mixed with a good story, too. Furthermore, this one wad just weird - I already mentioned that but I want to make my point very very clear. Weird.
Nope. Not for me.

If I could erase this from my mind as easily as I could my e-library, I would.
I was sucked into this series because the first part was free. The first part was okay (2-3 stars) enough that I read the second half. My bad…
The premise was okay… From the description for books 1-3: Janey's a girl that likes being watched. She finds that out when she moves into a stunning new suburb outside of the New York state capital. The older gentleman next door has the perfect view into her bedroom, and she shows him absolutely everything she has to offer.
Don’t let that description fool you. This series starts one way, veers off into things I don't ever want to think about again, then veers back to a happy ending (thank God, because I don’t think I could have taken a depressing ending after some of the things that take place).
From the description for books 4-6: The second half of this series delves into classic erotica themes such as voyeurism, public display, partner swapping and the intimate pleasure that comes from being watched and humiliated.
Okay… I don't know how "pleasurable" humiliation is, I certainly didn't find it pleasurable to read about. And, since the "partner-swapping" and "public display" was more like rape/forced sex, I didn't find it "erotic." Add to that a sex-slavery component as Janey is held against her will by her husband and his friend, who, it turns out, are trying to join a super secret wife-swapping club (actually, a partner-degradation club is more descriptive).
The story begins with Janey and her husband, Ben, moving into a new house now that he’s made partner. The first part of the series (books 1-3) is about her loneliness in their marriage. Her douche of a husband is having an affair. Why isn't she enough for him? What can she do better? [Why do women always think the worst of themselves?] She notices the neighbor next door watching her through her window. They have across-the-hedge window "sex." Later she meets him and they become friends.
When Janey finally confronts her husband about his affair, he becomes both physically and mentally abusive toward her, to the point of smashing her face up.
One evening she goes to her husband's office and is humiliated by him. When they go to dinner - yes, after that scene -- she finds out that he's traded her for the evening with his mistress's husband. Things go downhill from there as Janey is degraded, left like trash, then later held against her will and forced into sex-slavery.
I don't get off on the sexual humiliation and degradation of people. I don't find it erotic or stimulating at all. Thankfully there is a satisfying ending as villains are held accountable.
The description for books 4-6 also says: It is a story that draws on many of the author's own personal fantasies as well as real life experiences. I don’t know what part was fantasy and what was based on Ms. Weeks' experience, but knowing it makes me feel sorry for her.

2.5/5* My eye brows joined my hairline 24 hrs backs and it hasn't come down yet. The main character lacks dignity, decency and a spine. Her husband is a complete Jack-A and didn't get 2% of what he deserved as punishment. And while I don't mind older men as the H, 60yrs seems to be pushing it.
Now, for the pros, and the reason why I gave it a rating of 2.5 instead of 0.5 ->
•The writing was pretty decent.
•I only read erotica if it has an intriguing, compelling story and this one was shocking, for lack of a better word. When I picked up this book I wanted something shocking and while this wasn't anything I imagined it to be, it did indeed raise every hair follicle on my body, so mission accomplished!
•And last but most importantly, for the courage to write and publish books with such taboo themes. I always believe in freedom to write what you want without fear or suppression. Unfortunately that's easier said than done so kudos to Abby Weeks for poking themes that other authors shy away from.
Now, for the pros, and the reason why I gave it a rating of 2.5 instead of 0.5 ->

Amazing author, sex scenes are hot, hot, hot....even if they are pretty twisted. Such an interesting story line, so different from every other erotic or romance book out there. The true sign of a great author is when you feel everything the heroine feels and can't guess where the story is leading. This is one of those books. It's not for the squeamish though. If you are looking for a sweet romance, this is NOT it. Very dark, erotica, abuse sexual, physical and mental but heroine gets her revenge in the end. I can't say enough about this author and this series.

I thought overall the ridiculous storyline made the books great. At first I thought it would focus more on the relationship with the neighbor and then it went way beyond that. I stayed interested the whole time I read it and it left me saying wow at the end.

Let me just say this book is NOTHING like I thought it would be! It was sexy, lots of HOT sex! & also thrilling like you just Have to know what happens next!! I can't say too much without giving it away but let me just say you will not be disappointed!!

Very hard core erotic read...luved it...couldn t get enough....some parts of the book were a little far fetched but hey..it s a good story ☺️☺️☺️
