BSR sets off on a mission to keep the peace in their corner of the galaxy. Their first impressions of the situation turn out to be badly in error, and the their shepherd uses the opportunity to provide them with an education. Their best efforts miss the mark, until Bob turns to a new friend for help. Ride along with the fleet, while they figure it out.
I’m a house husband. I keep things together while my wonderful wife makes our living. I’ve worked as a machinist, short order cook, electronics assembly tech, and several other jobs. My hobbies include vehicle maintenance, (I’ve had the transmission out of my truck. Twice) free flight airplanes, electronics, and shooting. I was born and raised in the Ozarks, and now live in Mid-Missouri.
I wish I had had been able to read a series like this in high school. Might have realized sooner that there are way more of us on the spectrum than I ever knew. Absolutely love the fact that Bob does so many things his way and they work well because he thinks differently!!! Wonder what their next challenges will be and what the next evolved animal will be. Chickens were basically causing their own downfall and Bob had to get both sides to realize they had to work together again. Was a hard task but Bob is there to solve the big issues BSR comes up against!!!!
This time Bob and company meet up with a new, more alien, race of people than they are used to... The chickens. Bob and the BSR crew, have to go in and save the day. I still can't believe I have read 50 books in this series and they still have me hooked. its a real testimony to how good a writer Mr. Boyd was. On a side note, I just read that Mr. Boyd has passed away. I was so sorry to hear this. Fly safe Mr. Boyd! These great adventures will be sorely missed.
This one gets 5 grins from ear to ear. I wonder if Jerry was thinking of Col. Sanders when he wrote this? A 6 foot chicken would have given the old man nightmares. I like the way he weaves this story with political intrigue, fanatics, organized crime, and romance. Then at the end feathers fly when the Admiral gets to use what he learned. I grew up with Mel Blanc so when Foghorn Leghorn showed up I expected someone to start singing: Doe Da Do Da Day 😁
An entire race in a fowl mood... another creative perspective on 1st contact.
A nice alien culture exploration without violence. To be fair there was some rather predictable and repetitive cycles of activity stretched out to quite a few pages that could've reduced to a couple paragraphs. The casual pace makes for easy reading which serves well as a bedtime book. Looking forward to the next installment.
....again, Mr Boyd has penned another great installment in the Life of Bob, Nikki, and family and crew of BSR. All through his episodes he has been able to capture our imagination and take us into the black as a member of his crew And family. Please don't stop or let up with the story. Keep 'em coming.
Chickens - a bit unexpected, but not that unusual. Bob and crew manage to settle them down enough to be able to move forward. More mayhem created by those errant squirrels, and cleared up, eventually, with some work by BSR. Good addition to the series, with new characters, similar situations, and a mostly positive ending.
I've been doing a review every 10 books. I can't believe I made it this far. I have never read a series this long. I now see there is no end in site. Every book has been enjoyable. The characters hilarious the action ongoing and a superb storyline. I really liked the lack of profanity and gratuitous sex. Great job overall.
Don't get me wrong - I read the whole thing - but I just didn't love this installment as much as the rest. I still enjoyed it, but at some points in the story I felt as if I was reading it more to get to the next book rather than reading it for its own sake.
Starting the next book now - confident it'll be a good 'un!
Hard to believe that anyone could keep up this level of writing and quality and keep our interest through 50 books of a series, but Jerry Boyd just keeps delivering! Love these stories and look forward to each one, and am never disappointed! Please keep them coming!
Another excellent book with lots of interesting things going on. It was great to read about a lot of the original crew of the BSR and what they are doing. I can't wait for the next book.
I use to feed my grandma's chickens, I was afraid of the roster. My grandmother would always say " he's headed for the pot. We've got a replacement for him" lol.
The BSR team is a lot of fun to follow with the main characters and subplots. Each book addresses a new and captivating scenario, while see the difficulties of command. I love it
Remarkably prescient and very timely on the decisions and discussions about how to solve these problems. Not sure exactly what all it meant, and I sure hope he keeps doing it.
The story picks up where Nikki’s Day Out ended. Bob and the fleet try to get the two Chicken groups to work together and enable each other’s survival. A great read.
Another one of the only series I have read and enjoyed this much. This one ramps up the difficulty for BSR due to the problems of communication with this new species.
