■ Plot
It’s hard dating someone who won’t give you the time of day. Su-ae Shim knows that better than anyone, having dated her indifferent boyfriend, Minu Kang, for years. She sometimes wishes she could be more like her charismatic stepsister, Ra-im, who seems to have it all. But life takes a turn for the weird when Su-ae discovers Jellypop, a sentient flip phone, in her locker. Jellypop has a lot to say about her love life, especially as Su-ae drifts further away from Minu and finds herself running into Minu’s friend, Eunhyeok. Add to the mix a growing suspicion that Minu and Ra-im might be more than friends, and Su-ae might need a miracle to navigate the ups and downs of high school romance!
4.25 MYYY cuties!!!! the art is *cheffskiss*. ML is such a green flag. The awful red hair guy isn't!! Red flag material. The FL is sometimes a little oblivious but she's cool too.
Right, I think I’m gonna stop reading this now after the most recent chapter. You think you’ve been properly ragebaited before? You haven’t. this manhwa started off AMAZINGLY, but it seriously should’ve ended in season 1 or early season 2 because all it’s been doing thus far is deteriorate every time a new chapter drops. For a manhwa with such a cliche plot (not that that’s bad), it finds ways to rage bait you in ways that should be criminal. I seriously need to print out cardboard cut outs of all the main characters and just beat the hell out of them. I’ve completely lost my enjoyment in reading this, because how do you manage to asssasinate a plot SO BAD. I KNOW that the author is just trying to satisfy Dohwa stans after depriving them of soohwa content for so long, which I can respect, but it also veers the story so sharply off it’s already deranged road that I can’t possibly envision an ending for this manhwa. It’s truly amazing, how they managed to make such a predictable plot THIS complicated. there was an interesting, mysterious storyline, but it was neglected to turn this into some sort of deranged love triangle with unnecessary angst and fan service to keep readers engaged. honestly, I MIGHT end up coming back to this if eunhyuk explains himself, but my patience has run out for now. sooae, I love u girl. Raim, KYS (…keep yourself safe). dohwa, go away man (I don’t hate you). eunhyuk, fly away and don’t come back (it’s for your own good brotha). So, I guess I’m NOT taking otl into 2026 (unless something MIRACULOUS happens next chapter) #newyearnewme #freenow
i did not choose to read this, someone forced me in exchange for a dr pepper also im confused on how to log this https://nyxscans.com/series/operation... im reading it on here and i know on gr it says there 6 volumes. are all the volumes combined in that one?
OMG!! The way I was clicking the next page, and it wasn’t doing anything… Only to find out that was the LAST PAGE?! I was literally screaminggg.
This was soooo UGH!! I just wanna fight Minu so bad, and scream at Su-Ae to STAND UP. Ra-Im also had meeee raging. I felt all types of ways w/ everyone, Eunhyeok is my fave though 🫶🏽
I love a broody, chill MMC. And the banter? I love it. You can totally tell he’s a sweetie too like 😭🤍 And then the phone situation?! I’m still so curious about that, esp since the intro in the beginning— Ahhhh!!!! I guess we’re gonna have to wait and find it
I’m also curious to know the relationship between the other female classmates ‘cause? I feel like they’re friends, but also maybe not? Idk lol. But either way, THAT TWIST had me gagged. And then the way it ended up on top of that—
ABSOLUTELY DIABOLICAL. I def feel like that upped my interest even more ‘cause what’s tea 👀 I need the next volume REAL BAD.
am so torn on this one! The premise of a sentient flip phone that tracks love ratings is such a cool chaotic K drama hook, but I left Volume 1 feeling like I wanted more.
I kept waiting for more scenes with the phone and the love ratings, but it felt a bit sidelined. Also, while the art is gorgeous, I have never been a huge fan of the super insecure girl and hottest guy ever trope. It feels like there is some character development missing to make their connection feel earned.
The biggest letdown was the ending. I know it is an ongoing webtoon, but this volume ended so abruptly that it did not even feel like a cliffhanger; it just felt like the middle of a chapter.
I am curious enough to keep reading to see if the pacing picks up in Vol. 2, but this first installment felt a bit like a teaser.
Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
I unfortunately didn't love this one. I felt like there should have been more of the jellypop based on the description. I also didn't like where it ended. I know it was episodes 1-10 but I just feel like where it ended was really abrupt.
I did like the plot overall. A sentient cell phone is definitely not something I've read before so I was really interested in it. I would read the next volume to see if it picks up more for me.
I struggled to get into this one at first but once I got maybe 20 pages in I was hooked. I wasn’t too invested in the characters outside of Eunhyeok and Su-ae but I am super curious to find out what happens next. There was so much going on throughout the entire story it was like watching a chaotic kdrama unfold. I loved it
A must read for fans of high-stakes high school drama! Did I finish reading it in less than two hours? Yes. Do I regret it? No. Is it my first time reading it? Nope. Do I still love it? YES.
5 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This volume covers episode 1-12 of the WEBTOON series Tropes: High school romance, mystery, betrayal, lies Spice: 0.5/5 (just kissing)
We follow Su-Ae, a high schooler who discovers a sentient flip phone named Jellypop. The catch? Jellypop shows her exactly how much love a person will receive in their lifetime...and Su-Ae’s score is a firm ZERO. This "loveless" fate seems confirmed by her neglectful, ungrateful boyfriend, but things take a turn when she and Eunhyeok catch her boyfriend and her best friend (and more like a sister), Ra-im, in a betrayal that changes everything. Events bring Eunhyeok and Su-Ae together, and she realizes that maybe... he's not a bad person.
First of all, I'm so excited for this manhwa to be released in print edition. I read this a few years ago (which by the way can be read through the WEBTOON app) and was really intrigued with the plot and characters.
Second, while I may not be a huge fan of Su-Ae's personality, I understand her. It is said that she's older than Ra-im and is almost like a sister to her, and as the eldest, you tend to put yourself and your needs last and your family first. In this volume, it was satisfying to watch Su-Ae evolve from a girl blinded by 'love' to a protagonist breave enough to demand a breakup. Although she hasn't faced Ra-im yet here, it will probably be in the next volume. Baby steps, right?
Third, I labeled it as 'mystery' because she started receiving text messages from an unknown person (hence the reason why Eunhyeok and Su-Ae become closer) who has been secretly watching her and knows of her relationship and choices. This is, however, not emphasized or explained in this volume but will be explain in the next or two volumes.
*Thank you Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group and NetGalley for the ARC! All opinions are my own.*
