Ruthless and cold, Laird Braden terrifies everyone - without even a word. Until an English spitfire falls right into his arms...
Lady Roselyn would do anything to delay a forced marriage...even flee to Scotland to teach 'The Silent Laird' how to speak. But she only has one month. After that, she must return to London and wed the man her father chooses. No matter how the Laird's gaze sets her world on fire...
*Highlander of Silence is a steamy Scottish historical romance novel of 60,000 words (around 300 pages) written by Eloise Madigan and published by Cobalt Fairy.
No cheating, no cliffhangers, lots of steam and a happy ending.
Roselyn and Laird Braden McGraham The Silent Laird of Clan McGraham Roselyn’s father, the Duke of Abbey, was regretting having his three daughters educated, as they had become opinionated and very picky about whom they would marry. The Baron of Wesley desired Roselyn and her father gave her one month to find her own suitor, or he would accept the Baron’s offer on her behalf. Salvation came in the form of a letter from a Kenna, young Scottish woman whom Roselyn had previously tutored, requesting her educational services to help her brother with his speech. Kenna’s brother Braden, Laird of Clan McGraham, did not speak. He conveyed his thoughts through hand signals, but had not uttered a word since the day his father had been murdered. It did not take Roselyn long to figure out that Braden could speak, but chose not to. What follows is a tale wherein two people’s hearts reach out to each other forming a bond without the necessity of words. This story has danger, a mystery to solve, familial complications, secrets and strong emotions. There are nightmares, heroic rescues, misunderstandings due to erroneous conclusions, and romantic and steamy moments. It is well written, has appealing and appalling characters, and will keep your interest from beginning to end.
This book wasn't my favorite. The writing is good. However, for me, they get together too quickly. I like a slow burn romance, with tension. Built up tension and passion towards one another. I didn't feel that between these characters. I personally like the love scenes to be more graphic and longer than they are in this book. The story was a good one, but I like more push and pull between the characters. For me, they fall in love too quickly and want to be together too quickly. For me, they can even be forced into marriage, but i like it to take a long time for them to be fully together in their hearts. I like it when they want each other physically and are attracted to one another, but I like it to take a long time to fall in love and there to be conflict that keeps them from fully wanting to be together, but I love knowing that they will be together and have a happy ending.

With the author's wording and description of the places in this book And the description of the people in this book you can't help but love this book. I enjoyed it from the 1st page to the very last page. You get invested in the characters in the story the You get invested in the characters in the story the characters, their troubles and What leads them In the direction, there direction they're going. I like reading about a strong Alpha male that has a tender heart and this is . the main character is in this story. I also like it Woman with spirit and sass and the author included this so for me this was a win win.
Braden, the silent laird, has not spoken since he witnessed his father’s murder as a child. Now he speaks with hand signs. Roselyn is an Englishwoman who has tutored many in her young life, including Braden’s sister Kenna. Kenna asks Roselyn to come to Scotland to help her brother find his voice. Even without words, there is a definite connection between Braden and Roslyn. But Braden’s past trauma, a mystery to be solved, and an enemy closer than they think, puts their budding relationship in jeopardy.
This was an attempt at a somewhat interesting idea for a plot, but I struggled with maintaining interest. It was described as a steamy Scottish Highlander’s romance with a proper English woman. The whole concept for bringing the main characters together was overdone, and not very believable. The romance was contrived and cheesy with the flow being choppy. There was way too much padding and the steam left a lot to be desired. This was a Scottish historical romance that tried really hard to be special, but fell short. 2.5 stars for effort.
What a lovely read with a powerful story of greed, murder, suffering and love. Laird Braden is mute due to a childhood trauma and Roselyn has been asked to see if she can teach him to speak! What transpires turns a tragedy into love. Ms Madigan gives us a wonderful book that is moving and fast paced. The storyline is different than norm as are the strong female characters. I definitely recommend this book.
outstanding story full of the challenges of speech!!
What a great idea for a story! Rosalyn is a gifted teacher & gets the chance of learning a lifetime to figure a way past the the trauma eliminating speech from intriguing Braden. Loved these characters. Calder is a kick. I guessed who the villain was & liked watching the plot developed. Love to read this one story again! Eloise descriptive writing puts you right in the story, in the Heather.
Going away from home to help her friends brother. Her father did not like it and wanted her to marry. But she had other plans. She was going to Scotland to help a old friends brother. She was wanting for her escort to arrive. No one told her the Liard was her escort . .They started the trip and as the Liard could not speak. He was who she was going to help regain his speech.
The story of Roslyn an English lass and Braden a Scottish laird was interesting, full of mystery and unanswered question. Even though I enjoyed this story I felt that Roslyn character could have been a bit more tough, at times Roslyn acted a bit like a wimp. I love Scottish historical romance novels and this author did not disappoint. Keep writing and I will keep reading.
Roselyn came to the Highlands to help her friend's brother but along the way love blossomed and a mystery needed to be solved. Eloise Madigan has a Highland love story that kept me turning the pages. I so loved reading "Highlander of Silence" as well as all of her books.
It was interesting reading a book staring with a main character not being able to speak, but I do feel like it add to something to their interactions. There was some dark parts in the story I didn't enjoy. Though I love how Braden & Roselyn felt like good friends from the beginning & had a special relationship that was nice to read.
Braden’s father is murdered while he is young. He saw the man leaning over his father but never saw his face. His mother told him to never mention what he had seen and that’s when he lost speech. His sister sent for her ex tutor Roselyn to help him regain his speech. She and the Laird found that they connected. Great rest of the story
Storytelling at its finest, Eloise Madigan brings to life a strong willed lady, and a stronger man. The endeavors they face and wonders they discover within themselves. A page turning story that will keep you turning pages.
Very nice story of laird Braden silenced as a result of trauma from the murder of his father. Roselyn understood him and encouraged him to talk. A beautiful story not to be missed
Wow what a story. Braden hurt and couldn’t find his voice. Roslyn came at the request of his sister to help. Adventure, mystery and silence told the story of his father’s murder and his silence being broken.
Brandon and Roselyn's Story I disliked how Uncle Donald turned out to be a power-hungry madman. I liked how Brandon and Roselyn fell in love. I would recommend "Highlander of Silence" to lovers of Scottish Highland historical fiction.
I loved the way Brandon over came all his optical s. The way the story made Roslyn blossom in the highland was beautiful. But they should have both listened to Apollo about Douglas. A very thrilling story.
This is a book hard to put down. A young boy seeing the murder of his family, a mother protecting her children and the fear of the boy to speak are solved by the love of a teacher sent to help him.
I loved reading this book. It takes me longer to read my books because I only have KU on one iPad . Roselyn and Braden went through a lot. Braden’s uncle thought he was safe until Braden talked again.
Lovely love story, great storyline and characters. The story of Roselyn and Braden, Roselyn came from England to Scotland to see her friend and help her friends brother learn to speak. Well worth reading.
I love a bit of mystery and suspense in my reads and was not disappointed in this one! The characters pulled me in to their tale and kept me turning the pages. Such a great romance with excitement for your enjoyment.
So happy to have found Eloise Madigan s books. I love reading Scottish love stories but do not like all the detailed sex that is included in most books of this nature. This book was great!
I think I have been taken away by the Scottish Highland. The storyline and the characters were just perfect. I am in heaven with reading these historical romances. Keep writing and I will keep reading.
Laird Braden brought Roselyn to the highlands from England to tutor him to speak. He lost his voice after his father died. The author has a way to have suspense and mystery in her books.
. . . on par with other Madigan novels. The denouement with Roselyn leaving the castle was jarring and not believable. The characters, however, nicely drawn and engaging. A pleasant read even though not as pleasant as others.
Braden was silent for a long time, after seeing his father laying in a pool of blood. His sister brought her English friend, Roselyn, to help him speak. They fell for one another, then she was attacked and he spoke. Now there were so many things to sort out…
Nightmares hint at deadly mystery while English lady goes to Scotland to help the laird speak again. Clear foreshadowing lets us know what they don’t. How will it be resolved? Read on.
