Jamie Malton is an American, non-fiction writer. She is the author of Killer Case Files: Jamie Malton’s Best True Crime Series which is an anthology of crime stories where the author examines the homicides perpetrated by murderers and serial killers.
Drawn to the how and why of real crime stories and fascinated by the detailed police work, DNA reconstruction, and genetic genealogy, she started writing her books to share the details of these stories with her readers.
For book research, she splits her time between the USA and European destinations where she often visits some of the places where crimes have occurred.
With criminal apprehension and victim restitution as a personal cause, she donates a portion of her book sales to charities that fund DNA reconstruction to solve cold cases and charities that support the families of murdered victims.
You can reach her at JamieMalton.com where she curates her research into Case Files for her book readers.
As a huge fan of Jamie, I loved this book. It focuses on crimes that have an element of sadism in the murders. This is such a good book, and like Jamie's other books, had me hooked and blitzing through them. Good amount of details, and it's clear that research has been carried out, and this makes the book more enjoyable.
This is a well written, well researched and nicely narrated collection of true crime stories. Some very interesting albeit disturbing and grisly murders are reported and described in lots of detail.
In all honesty though it is a little too disturbing for my taste and while I appreciate the quality of the audiobook, it's not for me. Others may enjoy it off course, this is just my opinion. I'll stick to fiction.
I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
I listened to the audiobook as part of a box set of the first 10 books in the Curated True Crime Series. I like these books. I enjoy the themed sets of cases. I like comparing the methods and similarities between the cases. Also, these books are just the right size for completing in 1-2 days for me.
The murders in this book were quite brutal. The last case was one I was familiar with from seeing it on a true crime tv show. However, this was a version with some new details from a different perspective. It is one of my favorite cases in this volume.
If you like Jamie Malton’s other books, you’ll enjoy this one as well. Same format as all the others. Well researched and well presented. I’ve never been a huge fan of the narrator, but I’ve become so used to it at this point that hearing anyone else would just seem weird. As usual, I highly recommend any and all of Jamie’s books. She’s an auto-buy for me.
This wasn't very well researched at all, one of the cases discussed I actually know really well as I personally knew the people involved with the victim but also learnt a lot about the case whilst I studied for my degree. You can definitely tell it was written by an American author and not an English one. The area mentioned was incorrectly called Bromley which is a completely different area of the UK than where it actually happened. Author states missing pictures were in milk cartons which is also incorrect as this is not done in the UK ever. Some of the details the author states the forensic pathologist didn't know which again is incorrect. Calling the victim by their surname on several occasions made it sound like they were the criminal. Some of the other facts stated I would argue as to their authenticity. As I know the case well and how many incorrect statements or facts were included it made me question if this was the same with all the cases written about or just the one.
Wow, the stories featured in this collection are heinous. The body count totaling in all these stories is very high. Each murderer killed more than three people. So, you can call them all serial killers.
I think for me one of the most shocking stories featured a young juvenile. He was only thirteen when he killed for the first time. He was fifteen when he striked again.
A theme with lots of these stories showcased how important childhoods played a pivotal part in shaping the killers to becoming what they turned out to be and the styles of their crimes. This collection really captured my attention by how horrific the crimes were and the high body count.
Curated True Crime #8: Murder Most Sadistic: Murder, Madness & Mayhem, Book 8, my first read from authors Jamie Malton & Aiden Galway (Author). A 4-hour 18-minute/170-page serial killer audiobook. “I received a complementary Audible copy of this book back in January and am finally getting around to reading and voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author with Curated True Crime #12: Deadly Stalkers: Murder, Madness & Mayhem (Curated True Crime, Volume 12) already on my TBR list. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
Another awesome volume in this series. I highly recommend this series to any and all true crime fans. Well written and informative the collections are well curated.
This book was well written and went deep into the events and people. While I had heard of one or two of the killers, I really enjoyed learning about the less famous ones. This helps immortalize the victims and warns the public about these people. I would read more books. I'm not big on the narrator. His voice is often grating. There is a serious monotonous tone that works well with the subject matter though.
I was provided an audio verse from the author; all opinions are my own.
Another well-written true crime collection by author Jamie Malton! This one is more gruesome than some of her other works, reflecting the horrific crimes represented. If you are a true crime fan looking for quick, to the point stories, this volume (as well as the others in the collection) are perfect.
The narrator does a great job and adds a lot to these stories.
