I know this book did not just end like that. What in the entire world. Now I gotta read the next book. There is a lot of messiness going on. Everybody got side folks and side issues with family drama lol.
The beginning definitely pulled me end with the commentary between the FMC and her uncle. However, the fat girl phobia is real and it was pissing me off, but I pushed past it and enjoyed the overall book.

I struggled to get through this book, but I simply could not overlook how utterly frustrating Jurzee’s character was. Here was a veterinarian earning over $200,000 a year, yet she lacked even a shred of self-respect or love for herself. Did she really believe that because of her weight, she didn't deserve to live a fulfilling life? The level of treatment she tolerated was outrageous. As for the other characters, they weren’t any better—Kaution and the rest were equally frustrating. I reached my breaking point and abandoned the book at 55%. It was a headache-inducing experience. The only redeeming quality was that Jurzee had a lovely name.

I have no idea how to feel about this book. This book was full of fat-phobia, body shaming, and domestic violence. The romance in this book failed. I didn’t believe any of the connections felt real. I struggled to find one likable character. The one character that I may have liked is Geri who is deceased. I’m going to need all the women in this book to start loving themselves and setting boundaries.
The things that made me interested were that Jurzee and Derek worked at an animal hospital and the suspense.
Messy, chaotic, fast-paced, many characters, different POVs.
What I’d love to see moving forward is powerful, confident, admired and respected BBWs.

I’d give this book a 3.5 stars. It’s fast-paced, things were happening nonstop, which made it easy to get a little lost in the story at times. My favorite character was the uncle. I just wish we’d seen more of him.
Now, I honestly have no clue who’s behind the stalking. What I do know is that Holly is out of control, and Jurzee’s mom isn’t innocent either. I’m over here wondering if they’ve got some kind of scheme going on together.
Based on the title, I thought this was going to have a little more romance, but it turned out to be pure drama from start to finish. Lamont definitely got his karma in the end. The men in this book had slick mouths. Derek seemed like an okay dude though.
I’ll keep reading the series. It’s quick, messy, and entertaining, and this one ended on a cliffhanger. I’d tell others to give it a try. It’s not bad at all… just a lot going on!

3.75 due to the male characters.
This was a book club pick, and I went in not really knowing what to expect. I didn’t love how Lamont or Kaution spoke to the women in the story—Lamont especially rubbed me the wrong way—but I will say, I liked seeing how things turned out for him in the end. It’s a quick, engaging read, and I’m definitely planning to continue with the rest of the series.

Terrible
This book is pure garbage. Her uncle was supposed to be the comic relief, I suppose. I did not laugh, though. It was weird and forced. Jurzee’s lack of self esteem ticked me off. Not a likable character. You let a man beat and degrade you and willingly go back….paid for the hotel. Were you simply trying to see if you could get some words published? This certainly can’t be ‘story’ you sat down and came up with. Were you watching LMN, BET+ and just put a bunch of stories together. GARBAGE!

I did not see that cliffhanger coming
Tina J you have done it again because baby this book is so good. I’m going to need Jurzee to get her self esteem up because she absolutely put up with some straight bs dealing with Lamont but her meeting Kaution was all the karma he needed. I loved Jurzee’s relationship with her uncle because he is a straight fool and had screaming out loud laughing at his foolishness. Her mammy is up to something but I am not quite sure what it is yet but I hope she keeps her eyes on her. There is so much more going on in this book but I don’t want to spoil it for everyone I suggest you download it you will not be disappointed..

must read!!
I enjoyed this book! I like jurzee she’s really just trying to find her way. She needs to leave Lamont alone for good hopefully after the fire he didn’t make it. Kaution is exactly how his name sounds and he’s just rude as all get out! But knowing his back story it makes a little sense. I’m glad Kold gave Derek a chance because it seems as though he’s been waiting, she needs to tell him she can’t have kids though and just be all the way honest. Janet is a nut case and is kautions booty call she needs help fr. The ending with piya dying is crazyyyyy, I think Janet did it!

Weak FMC
DNF I got to 75% but the FMC is so weak, it’s sickening. Just my opinion. I loved uncle Lester though, and he is the reason why I got to 75% because I wanted more of him, but it wasn’t enough of him. How you doing great in life, making $200,000 a year. In complete control and you choose to let a broke, low life man degrade you and abuse you and you keep going back. While everyone is telling you, you’re a dummy. Btw Stockholm has nothing to with that!!!

This book was all of that. I cannot put it down and the characters were phenomenal. We have some crazy people in the book. But Kaution will deal with them. I have no doubt, about that. I love Jurzee. This is probably the worst book coming from this author that I have read!!! It gives this author just threw something together in the book because it was all over the page!!! It took me days to read it which says a lot since I’m an avid reader!!! Disappointed to say the least

Omg… I wasn’t expecting the end to come like that. Kaution with a K is about to go crazy over his sister and not to mention Geri’s grave site. I can’t wait for part 2. Ms. Jurzee is going through it with this damn Lamont. He is just treating her so badly I can’t take it. Going to be patient and see how things unfold in part 2. Great read 💕💕

So Far So Good
There is a lot of mystery in this book and I'm curious to see how it plays out. What's the story with Holly? What happened with Piya? Who damaged Geri's tombstone? Is Jurzee's mother up to no good? This book also has a lot of good plots, but the drama in the writing and detail is lacking to really pull me in.

Lamont I don't understand why he can't keep his hands to himself after the beating he is getting. Jurzee is really too naive for me. I like Kold but Piya is nerve racking. Kaution is so mean but I'm hoping his loving side comes out soon. Derek needs to really listen to his mother about Holly something not right with that Kool aid?? Janet seems off also??

Who killed Piya???
Jurzee is not the best on judging character when it comes to people. She let's everyone run over her. I can't wait to see where her story takes me. Kold is strong in mind yet she soft at heart. Lamont and keya is something else. And Kaution is the strength of the book but will he let go and truly move on . guess I'll find out in the next book.

Great Read
Lamont is a trifling, abusive, piece of sh*t who took advantage of Jurzee insecurities. I wished Jurzee loved herself and knew her self worth but having a mother who left her to go chase a man. Jurzee never had a positive woman role model to nurture and teach her about self worth, self love. Although her uncle raised her. He didn't have the ability to guide her and give her the womanly advice she needed growing up. Being a big woman played a huge part in Jurzee insecurities and Lamont was the first man to show her interest but he used her for his own selfish reason. Kaution is a no nonsense, very blunt, very rude, man. He's cold hearted and closed off. Losing his pregnant fiancee had him feeling guilty but what he don't play about is family and seeing women getting abused. Lamont have to be a glutton for punishment because Kaution had beat his ass multiple time's and Lamont still haven't learned to keep his hands to himself. As mean and rude as Kaution was when he first met Jurzee. He didn't like she was allowing Lamont to abuse her. Kaution was also smitten with her as well but Janet is going to be a problem. Janet is showing signs of being obsessed with Kaution. Even with him being brutally honest and telling her she's nothing more than somebody he is just screwing and don't want a relationship with her. Janet have it in her mind that Kaution is her man. Derek should've listened to his mother. Something is definitely off with his long lost sister. Holly is sneaky and is up to something. She's also creepy. Kold is a sweetheart. I was glad she gave Derek a chance. They seem good for each. However Kold have a heartbreaking insecurity that is holding her back. I don't think Derek would look at her differently when she decides to tell him.
