This just felt really rushed and like too many teacher/student-themed books I’ve read before already. I also wasn’t feeling their chemistry all that much.

And since I know what WG is capable of, this was a bummer. This seems to be her standard lately though…

I needed more.

I generally love Whitney G’s books. They give me the banter I love with some of the feels as well.

But this felt rushed to me. I enjoyed the first half of the book way more than the second part (after the separation), and it’s because too many twists and turns were placed without enough development for me 😐.

The book opens up with with Genevieve (17-21) at a bar (with fake IDs); she’s there to hear about love, but she shows up two weeks early, which means it’s Open mic night 🥴. Genevieve loves anything with creative writing, especially when it comes to romance. She gets texts from the Warden asking where she’s at, and she calls her back by sneaking into the male restroom (the women’s bathroom’s line is too long 🤦🏻‍♀️ what’s new 🤣). That’s where she meets Liam (35-39) the handsome AF man who ends up invading her dreams.

When she’s back at school, she gets in trouble for the fake ID situation she has going on and has to fulfill a punishment of cleaning. She also meets her new creative writing teacher, and it’s none other than Liam 😅👀.

Liam’s grandfather is the headmaster/principal of the high school. He has a reputation to uphold and work for students to fulfill, so he has Liam temporarily replace a teacher that just had surgery. Which means that Genevieve ends up being one of his students 😬.

And the taboo/forbidden aspect comes to play 😈.

What I liked/loved: possible spoilers
—the tension 👀. I love how into each other they are. There could be tons of people in the room, but they only see each other 👀

—Whitney G’s banter 🤣. I smiled many times, like usual, even though this is more of an angsty book, there were times where they were bantering back and forth, and I luuuurved it 😉

—the 🔥. Ufff. We gets many scenes (not super detailed, but I wasn’t complaining 💅🤣). Their first kiss happens at about 43% and by the low 50% ish, it’s full throttle 😉.

—duuuurty talk 🥵. Liam has a diiiirty mouth 💦. He gives no Fs and says what’s on his mind 🔥

—the forbidden/taboo aspect 👀. Oh yes. Definitely got the teacher/student taboo part right😉.

—how smart Genevieve is ❤️. I love me a smart queen 👏🏻

—she’s not exactly celibate during the separation 👏🏻 (but I’ll talk about this more down below).

—the reasons for the separation 😬. Um. I actually understood both sides 🫣

What I didn’t like/wanted more of: SPOILERS
—who did the blackmailing??? It caused the separation yet we don’t know who did it 😐

—no epilogue 😏. Luckily, I’ve already subscribed to her newsletter, so I had it

—her roommate🥴. Really? 😐. Why did ow have to be the roommate 🤦🏻‍♀️

—the fact that we DON’T know exactly how many people either of them are with during the separation. He says not that many, but I don’t know if that means 3, 5, 10? And for her, she sarcastically says she was celibate and then later jokingly says 80… so, which is it? Was she celibate until her current boyfriend? It’s implied she’s slept with her current boyfriend, and it’s also implied that he slept with her roommate 🥴

—lack of communication 😬. I wish more was done so that they weren’t separated, buuuut I also understood why it happened. We never get told WHO was blackmailing/extorting Liam’s grandfather

—grammar mistakes/lack of continuity. There were some other mistakes too. For phone numbers, it’s area codes, not zip codes. The scene where they almost get caught when Ms. Shaw shows up to his place has Genevieve looking for her shirt. When did she lose her shirt? There were a couple of other times where I felt I missed a sentence somewhere and had to reread/make it up in my head. 😬

—talking about almost getting caught, I don’t know why Genevieve’s answer to show Liam that she’s ready to do more with him is to show him just how much she’s ready for him… with her mouth 🥴. This is right after Ms. Shaw almost catches them 😬. They’ve barely only kissed up until this point, so this was surprising

—her parents 😐. I didn’t care for them, especially because they only cared about their image. We never get told what ends up happening with them either

—I wish we had more about Liam’s romantic past and how Genevieve was different

—so many things were rushed 😐. It’s like, she only had a certain amount of pages to tie all the loose ends, but to me, they were wrapped up way too quickly. I had to suspend my belief for a lot of it

—for being angsty, it needed more

Oh, wow! I wasn’t expecting this to touch on a troupe that can go either way for me. I can love it or hate it, and of course, as always, this author wrote it so that I was completely in love with it.





I loved the way this couple not only met, but remet again. The way they connected each time and their determination to not let it affect them is why I keep coming back to this writer’s work. On the surface each character refuses to accept the other person. They push and push again until inevitably, they give into the pull that they are fighting against. And then holy heck, the pages lit up with fire as the hero and heroine yield to their desires.

This is a short, fast paced read but written in a way that I didn’t feel short changed with the storyline. I was disappointed when it was over because I loved this couple so much!

I Wish I Would've Chosen You took me to one of my favorite places in the world. The forbidden place where rules were meant to be broken, whispered promises of more to come, and the knowledge that once you take that next step, it could be the best or worst thing that's going to happen to you.


Genevieve only wants one thing right now and that's to continue to sneak off and listen to beautiful poetry about love in bars. But she's a few weeks early for that segment so not wanting to waste a night, she stays and enjoys herself and meets a handsome stranger. With the conversations flowing nicely, Genevieve and Liam hit it off so well, they decide to stay in contact. That is until Liam finds out about her little white lie and unbeknownst to him, he's going to be seeing a lot more of her.



I truly loved the first half of this story and I felt the longing and enjoyed the banter between these characters. Having to keep things proper in a professional manner was not their strong suit and it fed into the forbidden aspect of things even more which I really liked. But…. The second half of the story was extremely rushed and I began to not even care about the main characters anymore. The new storyline was too much and over the top for my liking and I just needed things to slow down a bit.

If you're looking for a quick forbidden romance with light banter to pass the time, then you could give this one a try.

The book started out pretty good, however close to the end it took a sharp turn into -overly dramatic-. The climax in particular could have been avoided if the heroine didn't have her "too stupid to live" moment. I mean, I knew with this kind of story the reveal was inevitable but did it have to happen in this kind of fashion? See, if the heroine just took a few seconds to think, things might have turned out differently, but I guess Whitney G. wanted that extra dose of drama.

Overall, the book had a compelling start but concluded with a somewhat frustrating and melodramatic finish.

"I think there can be an undeniable attraction between two people and they can choose not to act on it, but it doesn't mean they're not meant for each other."

Gosh I don't know what to say about this one. It's a forbidden/taboo student teacher romance, with an under age, age gap that I myself am not completely comfortable with. But it's fiction, I can roll with it, and I can't deny the author didn't have me locked from the start. The writing really drew me in. I easily read this in a handful of hours. Easily, because while the story was captivating, it also didn't have the depth I hoped for. And it kind of veered off in the second half, feeling rushed, not entirely edited, also ending abruptly. I feel like we never got to experience their connection fully. But like I said, I breezed through it, so props to that!

Also really loved this quote: "There's always something new to find in a book, no matter how many times you reread it."

Genevieve y Liam, son personajes que, aunque esconden tras de sí matices maduros, se quedan atrapados en una red de sencillez, que silencia todo. Su construcción plana, les hace ser unos protagonistas sin apenas brillo y con grandes dificultades para destacar y convencer, enmarañados desde su inicio en una conexión instantánea, basada más en lo físico, que en los sentimientos, presentando así un romance en ocasiones insustancial.

Creo con sinceridad, que en esta ocasión Whitney G., no ha sabido capitanear esta historia, reconducirla hacia una trama romántica delicada, sino que se ha dejado llevar por un erotismo que lo silencia todo. No ayuda a generar una opinión positiva, que se haya frivolizado con temas tan serios como los presentados en este libro, sin poner de relieve la necesaria profundidad que esos temas conllevan.

A pesar de ser una lectora declaradamente fan de esta escritora, no he llegado a sentir la comodidad siempre acostumbrada, ni tampoco he experimentado conexión alguna con sus personajes y, mucho menos, su historia.

Respecto a su extensión, el número de páginas que componen su historia es totalmente acostumbrado, quizás algo más conciso. Con un total de setenta y un capítulos, es un libro lo suficientemente sencillo, como para que su ritmo sea ágil.

Oh man....

This had SO MUCH potential. The first 50% of this book was flawless. I was hooked. I was sneaking chapters in at work, while picking up my kids, while cooking dinner. I couldn't wait to crawl into bed and lose myself in the ending.

Turns out, I should have waited. What started as perfection ended up a train wreck. You could just tell the first half of the book was cared for. She sat down and plotted it out. The last half was a mess. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was written in a few hours and just added to the rest. There were so many editing errors it made it it hard to follow what was being spoken and what was internal dialogue. It was just so rushed. It wasn't even believable. It just felt slapped together and completely ruined the first part of the story for me.

I'm sad. I had such a high hopes for this. Blah.

Once again, I find myself *middle of the road but more like 3.5(ish)* when it comes to a Whitney story! Sweet mother of Peter, Paul and Mary, why is she like this? Lol However, overall, the story is very much a round to 4 star read for me. The reason that I am middle of the road is because she wrote a remarkable story for the first 50%(ish) but seemed to fall off the wagon for the rest. I just have no other way of conveying what happened in my reading experience. One minute I was reading a ridiculously well-developed story, and I am not saying it all went to (you know where), but it changed somehow, and it just got very hectic extremely fast!

In keeping with the do not read the blurb theme, I also will not be giving away exact plot-points or circumstances that happen in the story. Reading this story going in blind is the way to go just like it was the way to go with its predecessor, I Wish I Would Have Told You. If you have not yet read that story, you really should.

The greatest part of this story and the reason it is a round to 4 star read for me, is the fact that Whitney develops the story in a way that not only are the MCs living the story as the pages turn but so is the reader. This is not one of those stories where you as the reader know things about plot-points or circumstances and are just waiting for the MCs to catch up, no, you are living the unfolding of the story just as they are. That is a concept that is pretty new in my reading experience, and I am fairly sure that’s why Whitney prefaces the blurb with the warning not to read it. Blind is the way to go with this one and any other she states to go into blind.

So, even though the unfolding of the story went a little sideways in the last half of the story, it was still a remarkable story. I know that sounds ridiculous, but you are just going to have to trust me on this. Also, this style of storytelling is unique, as I mentioned before, so if you are looking for a traditional style that is followed by most writers and even Whitney in the past, this is going to take a little getting used to for you. But try it and go in with an open mind. It will be worth it. #TRUST

Zakazana relacja, age gap i prywatna elitarna szkoła — to połączenie kupiło mnie od razu. Już od samego początku zostajemy wrzuceni w sam środek akcji, od której naprawdę trudno się oderwać. Prolog intryguje i ciekawi do tego stopnia, że przez całą książkę próbuje się odnaleźć brakujący element układanki, do której autorka konsekwentnie nas przygotowuje.

Styl pisania Whitney G. jest niezwykle lekki i bardzo sprawny. Autorka potrafi zmieścić wiele wątków i informacji w stosunkowo krótkiej lekturze, nie przytłaczając przy tym czytelnika. Pojawia się sporo przeskoków czasowych i mimo że nie jestem wielką fanką takich zabiegów, tutaj zostały one poprowadzone na tyle dobrze, że wszystko idealnie współgrało z fabułą i miało sens.

Główny bohater niestety nie trafi na moją listę fikcyjnych mężów. Owszem, jego zachowanie zdecydowanie poprawia się po połowie książki, jednak początkowo to on sprawiał wrażenie niedojrzałego nastolatka, a nie bohaterka, która faktycznie nim była. To trochę zaburzało dynamikę ich relacji, choć z czasem sytuacja zaczęła się stabilizować.

Pod koniec historii pojawia się za to sporo zwrotów akcji, których zupełnie się nie spodziewałam, więc tutaj duży plus dla autorki. Finał trzyma w napięciu i skutecznie podkręca emocje.

Ta pozycja zdecydowanie przypadnie do gustu fankom serialu Pretty Little Liars, a dokładniej wątku miłosnego Arii i Ezry. Znalazłam między nimi a bohaterami Żałuję, że cię nie wybrałam kilka wyraźnych podobieństw i być może właśnie dlatego tak łatwo było mi ich polubić.

Jestem bardzo ciekawa innych książek Whitney G., więc z pewnością jeszcze po jej twórczość sięgnę.

Genevieve Edwards has a very interesting first encounter with a handsome stranger named Liam Donovan. Too bad she wasn’t completely honest with him on just a few topic lol…like her name or age! When she finds out her new professor is non other than that handsome man what will happen? That should be the end of whatever they felt when they met but sometimes you can’t help what you want. This is a steamy age gap romance that will cross some boundaries. A story of fighting what you know is wrong to want but realizing you can’t fight that pull it has over you forever. I don’t want to say anything more so you can see what happens for yourself but this is not your standard age gap, taboo love story. This is a journey for both characters that they needed to take with a few surprises too. A touching romance I couldn’t put down. Told in first person and dual POV.

Good premise, weak execution.
This had a lot of potential but for the amount of things happening it was way too short and rushed.
Insta-love, little to no chemistry and a heroine who didn't sound 16 but acted like it.
I really really wanted to love this as this author has written Turbulence, one of my most favorite books ever,so I know she can write great angst. But this was too over the place. There was no time for the romance to develop and the ending was too abrupt.
Rating it 3 stars because of the strong start.

I know when I get a Whitney G book, I am going to get sucked into an emotional rabbit hole, and that is the case with I WISH I WOULD HAVE CHOSEN YOU. I was really on the edge of my seat on one hand, while simultaneously afraid to look around the next corner on the other in this forbidden romance.

This is so much of a “what were you thinking?” story but told so well. The author has very clever ways of structuring her stories. She also has a way of making me so angry with the characters for their choices then searching for any loophole to forgive them. You won’t be disappointed reading this story, but it is a messy one.

I have been waiting for the advanced copy of this book to come out so I could read it and give my honest opinion on it.

Oh the angst! My heart bled for these star crossed lovers! Liam Donovan, the handsome, aloof teacher, and Genevieve Edwards, the gorgeous, brilliant, yet rebel student. Everything was against them; their age, their school status, their stubborn stances, and of course, their uncontrollable passion.

The back and forth, the verbal sparring, these two were so in sync! Liam just kept things so bottled up where Genevieve was the complete opposite, everything burst from her like a rushing spring! I loved her for her honesty and openness. She just wanted her person and someone to love her as she never got that from her parents. I wanted her and Liam to get their HEA and after all they had to go through, and it was a lot, they finally could be together! This book is definitely more than FIVE STARS if I could give more!

I was eating this up! Liam was funny AF when he was writing his resignation letter 🤣 Genevieve was sweet as she is intelligent and mature. Seriously! I love her sometimes dry responses towards Liam and her reckless side to the things she really want which is writing.

Probably in the minority but I liked the writing, the construction of the each chapters, the sometimes short, sometimes detailed events. It got easier to read with how the author structured it.

I don’t know why but I expected the same conflict as in Book 1, where the MMC was imprisoned, I’m glad I was wrong. The plot twist was…well I didn’t see that coming.

I also love how their connection was a connection of the mind. Not saying there’s anything wrong with connection of the heart but it’s rare in romance books if it’s the former.

Hot to trot little number!

When Genevieve Edwards and Liam Donovan first meet, it's attraction at first sight. They spend the evening talking and flirting. However, before they can take their attraction any further, Liam is called away. But imagine the horror when they both realise that Genevieve is still a high school student...and Liam is the new professor at her exclusive school.

Ooh, these two! Liam tried so hard to do the right thing but Genevieve was like the sun - drawing him ever closer to her light and heat. I think Genevieve just wanted to be seen and loved. He saw her and valued what he found in her. But...plot twist! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was an easy, hot, heartfelt read.
