4⭐ - A sweet story of finding love in the unlikeliest of partners & accepting yourself in the process.

Read if you love
🪶 "hate " to love vibes
❄ MM romance: winged guard x God
🪶 Overcoming your past
❄ duty vs. love

Having read the first 2 books in the Of Fate series, I was excited to read this novella for Jes and Moros' backstory. I thought the author portrayed Jes's struggle to accept himself so beautifully, as well as Moros's hurt in wanting to be 'loved out loud'. Their story really tugged at my heart strings.

That being said, I think some of the emotional impact might be lacking for those who read this as a standalone without already having met Jes and Moros in the Of Fate series. In this novella, we didn't really see the buildup of their relationship that much. It seemed like in one interaction they disliked each other and the next they were consumed by the other. But overall I still think readers will find this to be an enjoyable novella.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC. This review reflects my honest thoughts and opinions.

This was a sweet little filler, I can’t wait to check out the rest of C.A. Blooming’s work. We love a bit of character and relationship development in such a short story.

I was lucky enough to be one of the first ones to ARC read this and I have to say I was not disappointed.

C.A. Blooming delivered a captivating novella following our beloved characters, Moros and Jesiel. This standalone love story is both the same as her other books, yet it’s entirely different.

Characters: If you’ve read Threads of Fate and Bindings of Fate, you know the emotional rollercoaster that is Moros and Jes. While there’s mentions of their relationship in the series, this novella dives into that love and some of their backstory. It shows their commitment to each other and how they balance each other with their duties.

Plot: It wouldn’t be a C.A. Blooming story if there wasn’t a bit of trauma involved. While this light hearted story is really showing the relationship and love between the two characters, it also uncovers detailed backstories that tug at your heart strings and provoke emotions in you that you didn’t know was possible, considering these are fictional characters.

Spice: The author really said, “Hold my faerie wine” and delivered steamy yet tasteful spicy scenes between our two lovers. None of it felt out of place and it felt right.

Overall I gave it a 4/5 because I felt the timeline was a little confusing (that could have just been me) and I was left wanting more of these two. Like Blooming’s other books, everything has a purpose. There are details that tie back to the original series and Easter eggs throughout. That being said, it is entirely possible to read this and still enjoy it by itself. I cannot wait for other projects to be finished!

Thank you to the author for the ARC! “Feathers, Frost, and Fate” will be available February 14, 2025!

Years before a young woman forced her way through a garden door, the sworn protector of a prince fell in love with a governing god. This is their story.

I was *so* excited to see Jes and Moros get their own backstory, and this one didn’t disappoint. Although set years prior to the events of “Threads of Fate”, I think this one is best enjoyed after reading books 1 and 2 in the main ‘Of Fate’ series. At that point, you’ve already gotten to see who these characters are and it makes this story that much sweeter.

It’s a short book, so there’s only so much I can say before we get into spoiler territory. What I will say is that it’s every bit as sweet and heartbreaking as the other two books in the series, so it’s right on brand. I would have liked to see more of the two interacting outside of their key moments, but since this is mainly a background novella I understand why it was more of the ‘highlight reel.’ It just felt like we didn’t get to sink into the relationship as much as we could. Outside of that, Jes and Moros are adorable together, and there were some truly ‘warm and fuzzy’ scenes between the two that made the book really enjoyable to read.

Did I just binge this in one sitting? Yes, yes I did.

"If you love him, Jesiel, you'll do the right thing. You'll protect him with your life. No matter the cost."

"I guess we both have people we fear to find out about what we are."

In this Novella, we get a tiny glimpse into Jesiel and Moros' relationship with a hint of trauma and struggles of navigating their feelings in secrecy due to their judgemental families.

I'm normally not a huge novella fan. I feel like there's only so much you can pack into a short story. However I loved this so much. I love love love Jesiel and Moros in Threads Of Fate and Bindings Of Fate, if you have read the first two books you already know and are probably obsessed with these two and now we get to see their love story unfold.

I like that we see their little moments together, the small details that formed the base of their relationship when they realized they had feelings for each other while also still fulfilling their duties as Beskermer and God makes me root for them even more.

I think this short story tied into the two main books really well, every single book in this series has its purpose. You can feel the love, the anger and the sadness in this story.  I adore Jes and Moros so much more because of this novella, and I can't wait to see more of them in the next book.

Thank you C. A. Blooming for sending me the Arc of this book. All thoughts are my own.

Talk about an emotional rollercoaster!! So many things to unpack in less than 200 pages. The story of Jesiel and Moros was such an amazing addition to the Of Fate series. It’s a happy story, but full of TRAUMA!! It wouldn’t be part of the Comas World if it didn’t have trauma though right?

Jesiel (a Beskermer) and Moros (a Governing God) come from completely different backgrounds and upbringings with one exception. They both are shamed by their families for not “fitting the mold” and being disappointments to their unapologetically abusive fathers.

An unlikely bond between the unlikely pair is one that neither of them can ignore. Will either of them be willing to allow themselves to enjoy each other’s companionship? Love can be painful, love can be messy. But is it worth it?

As I read through each page I truly didn’t know which way things were going to go. The emotional turmoil, the sexual tension, and the stubbornness of both characters was so well written. I found myself screaming at the page a few times, but also caught myself holding my breath watching their individual journeys unfold.

I had the pleasure of being an early reader for this fabulous novella about two side characters from C.A. Blooming’s Of Fate series and I absolutely loved it! In the interest of avoiding spoilers for the main series, I’m confining my review to just this story.

Moros is a Governing God, Jesiel is the Berksemer (think bodyguard and right hand) of Roan, the God of Nyte - who is also Moros’ cousin.

Moros, despite being the god of the winter realms, is all that is light, open, and free.

Jes is burdened by his sense of duty and obligations that have been drilled into him since childhood. Every belief and tenet he has lived his life by is shaken to its very foundation when he is forced to come to terms with the emotions that Moros’ very presence brings to the surface.

A heartbreakingly beautiful LGBTQ romance about the boundaries we will and won’t accept when it comes to following our heart.

This is a novella in the "Of Fate" series that is also part of the Loathing to Lovers collection.

This was a cute little novella about two males struggling to accept who they are. One wanting to be loved out loud with no reservation, and another wanting to be able to do that, but their duties and the circumstances at large prevent it. I've loved the Jes and Moros storyline in the first two "Of Fate" books. I loved seeing their bond grow and experience real struggles that weren't immediately resolved with love.

I do think people who haven't read the other published books in the series may struggle with some of the plot points, but not so much that it wouldn't be enjoyable for them.

Big thank you to the author for allowing me the opportunity to ARC read! This novella has been published for a while, and while I (regrettably) did not finish it in time prior to publication, that is not a reflection of my thoughts on the work! 💜

This is a novella that follows two of the characters from Of Fate series also by CABlooming.

Years before Orah stumbles upon the door in the garden into Roans arms and the events of Threads of Fate…. Just after the first challenge between the kings sons… Jesiel and Moros are characters that are seen often in the Fates books. This novella gives ultimate an insight into them and their relationship. How it started and got to where it is present day(well present day in the series) you don’t need to read the other books before this but it would be highly recommended that you do. I loved reading this. Especially after reading the of Fate books. These two males had a ton of heat between them so it was great to be able to understand them as a couple and how they started. They weren’t very out in the open forming the of fate books so seeing everything from their pov was amazing!!!

I feel like Courtney wrote this book just for me. Jes and Moros always had a special place in my heart during this series and to get a novella of their beginning was everything I needed🥹🥹

This world is just so magical and the court of wintur was so beautiful and cozy. I love coming to this world again and again. Jes is just the sweetest brute there is, and Moros is such a sexy flirt🤭 their dynamic, although heartbreaking and confusing, was so fun, sweet and playful. They were truly made for each other. It was hard to go back to the beginning and see both their struggles with their opposing loyalties. But knowing how their story progresses made it that much sweeter. I LOVE JES AND MOROS MORE THAN ANY OTHER COUPLE!!!! ❄️💙🤍🪽

Jesiel, a skilled Beskermer, and a Governing God, Moros. Together form a bond that challenges the rigid norms of their society. They must confront prejudice, isolation, and their own doubts to preserve their love.

Their journey is one of emotional depth. Jesiel’s struggle to reconcile their role as a Beskermer with his desires and Moros’s quest for acceptance within a judgmental society are detailed. Together, they fight not only for their love but also to redefine their place in a world that often refuses to see them for who they are.

This book is LGBTQ friendly (of course), and soft on sexual details between the two characters for those that are advocates of LGBTQ.

Fast read.

I really enjoyed getting the chance to read an early copy of this sweet novella from the Of Fate Series. You can read this as a standalone but this gives us the backstory of Moros and Jes (who I just love).

I struggled a little with the beginning but then it picked up for me and I just loved seeing how their relationship began. They are just so wonderful together. They both have extreme responsibilities that makes a relationship difficult but somehow managed to fall in love. They are just so wonderful together!

Highly recommend reading Threads of Fate and Bindings of Fate prior to reading this novella which is estimated to release on 02/14/25.

First off this is one of my favorite godling books this year. It has love hate and a little betrayal in it. You will fall in love with both jes and moros. There is some room for both boys in your heart I promise. This book was beautiful in its own way from the detail of the characters, places and the atmosphere. I did have a good cry at the end but that’s just because I loved it that much. It does have some characters in it that are lgbtq but definitely worth it. C.A Blooming did not disappoint with this one.

There is some absolutely beautiful prose in this novella, it’s up there with the best I’ve ever read.

Unfortunately, it’s lost a bit in what I found, for most of it, a confusing story. It sort of comes together in the last few chapters, but I spent a lot of the book thinking I’d missed a page or a paragraph and couldn’t fully understand the motives of why Jes & Moros kept pushing each other away. I’m very glad they got their HEA though as their declarations of love were perfect - when they decided to make them.

Received as an ARC in return for an honest review.

I love this series...the characters, their world and their magic! I was fortunate enough to receive the first two books, Threads of Fate (ToF) and Bindings of Fate (BoF) at the same time. I literally began reading BoF within five minutes of finishing ToF. I could not put them down. Then I received this novella and it has answered questions I did not know I had. It has left me anxiously awaiting the next book! A must have, in my opinion.

Cute heartwarming novella about Jes and Moros, and their secret love affair for the past several decades.

I really enjoyed this one! I was curious about their love story and I’m glad we got to see them come together. I would have loved a bit more interaction with them but it was a novella not about the main characters of the series so that makes sense we only read the big moments.

The cabin in the valley?? Loved it!!

The emotional toll that I took while reading this. All I can say is that I loved every minute of it, including the moments where I got frustrated with Jes and Moros. Without reading any other of the books in this series, I loved the detail that C.A. Blooming went into to build their story.

Definitely a must read. Will captivate you to read the rest of the series. I know it sure did for me.

Feathers, Frost and Fate is a sweet fantasy romance that takes Of Fate fans to the beginning of Jesiel and Moros. This novella is an easy read that will have you kicking your feet, smiling, loving, longing, and all those good book feelings. You could read this as a quick standalone MM Romance, but I definitely recommend the whole series for more understanding of the world and characters.

This novella is the backstory of Jesiel and Moros, two background characters in her Threads of Fate series. I would say to read this book after completing the first two books in the main series so you have an idea of who the characters are now.

There are an abundance of trigger warnings in this book so please make sure you check those first.

This was my first read by C.A. Blooming, and I thought it was quite cute! This is connected to the Of Fate series, which I haven’t read yet, but I don’t think it’s necessary to in order to understand Feathers, Frost & Fate. However, I’m definitely adding the main series to my TBR since I enjoyed this novella!

The insta-love was pretty insta-lovey, which usually isn’t my sort of thing, but like I said, I found the relationship in this novella to be pretty cute. I actually would’ve liked to get even more of their story honestly. I’m not sure where this novella happens in the timeline compared to the other books, but I’m curious to see if we get more of these characters in the main series.

Thank you C.A. Blooming for the early copy of Feathers, Frost & Fate. All opinions are my own.

Another great read by C A Blooming!

I'm new to her Fates world, and I'm planning on RUNNING to read her 'Of Fate's books.

This was a perfect read to enjoy in the cold weather, and Moros and Jes's story was angsty and sweet.

I was left satisfied and hungry for more at the same time!

I was lucky to be an ARC reader for this beautiful novella of the of fate series.
The story of Jesiel and Moros. The bond they have is strong and it was just so nice to read the good and the less good moments between them; how the love between them grew.
I really loved it! ❤️

I liked this book even though it’s out of the norm of books I usually read. The characters are deep, and have been traumatized. C.A. Blooming really knows how to tug at those heartstrings. By far one of my favorite authors!

Looking forward to the next book!
