Remember Me
Kristen Tyverson lives the ideal life. Happily married, with three children, she has worked her way to becoming one of the most successful reporters in the country. At times I despair at the lack of romance and true love in the IR genre. Too often the sex in a story dominates and completely buries a potentially interesting story beneath the heaving bosoms, bulging muscles and sweaty bodies of lovers caught under the spell of instant attraction. Don't get me wrong, sex in a book is a good thing. But I read romance books to get caught up in a story of love that's sometimes lost, sometimes found, but that ultimately endures. That said, I want to express how pleased I was as I read Remember Me by Michelle N. Onuorah. This folks, was a story about love. The love a family that lost one of its own only to find her again. Unfortunately, the woman that comes home is not as she once was.
The Tyverson's are a loving family with a strong foundation of faith. Kristen has an award winning career as a journalist, and often travels to dangerous locations as a part of reporting the news. Mark is a self-employed man who supports his wife's career. Between the two of them they are raising three children, two girls and one son. On Kristen's latest assignment, a terrorist attack has the world assuming her death. When she is discovered alive some weeks after her assumed death, she returns home to her family, Unfortunately there's a problem. Kristen believes that her only family is her mother and she doesn't remember the family that she left behind. She only remembers her life as it was earlier, before meeting Mark or becoming a journalistic success. The story examines the impact that amnesia has on Kristen and the family as a whole. It also takes the reader along for their journey toward reestablishing and rediscovering the love that memory has lost.
There are so many reasons why I enjoyed this book! The struggle the Tyverson's go through to become a family again was very well described. Each character was well drawn and easily identifiable. I felt for Kristen. Imagine waking up certain that you are a young woman at the very start of your career, only to discover that you have children, a husband, and that you've lost a beloved parent years before. I felt for her children. Their mother promised to come home, and although she eventually physically returned it wasn't as the same person who left. Most of all I felt for Mark. What a beautifully written man. I fell in love with this character. Yes he has flaws, he's human after all, but his devotion and love for his wife will touch your heart deeply. He's just a man who loves his wife and his children, yet he's faced with the real possibility that his wife as he knew her would never come back. His emotions, heck all of the emotions in this book, are so eloquently written that you can't help but become invested.
Remember Me is a wonderful book that will tug on your heart. It's not not wildly sexual or filled with over-the-top angst or manufactured drama. It is about love. It is about faith. It is about the power of both love and faith. I suggest this book to readers who want something more than overheated lust from their romance. Keep writing Ms. Onuorah I can't wait to see what you release next!

I absolutely loved it! At first, I wasn't sure because the main characters pray as a family, and shame on me, I just couldn't fathom how family prayer could factor into a romance novel. That said, if the romance is well written, it does have a place. It was a clean romance where the story took place between a man and his wife that I'd recommend to anyone looking to read a romance on the sweeter, less erotic side with a little faith mixed in. I also found reading about a heroine with amnesia to be unique twist. Remember Me, sets a high standard for romance writers in my opinion. I'm looking forward to reading more from Michelle N. Onuorah. I'm so glad I already have a copy of Type N available. This was a real treat!

I have been mulling over what exactly I wanted to write about this book since I finished it yesterday. Michelle N. Onuorah has written an incredibly authentic feeling book about starting over and rediscovering love. Not just romantic love (although that is done quite well), but the love you have for everyone in your life.
The book begins with the Tyverson family celebrating and preparing for Kristen' s business trip. We see how the family operates (they pray, they enjoy being together) and all is well. We cut to a few months later and everything is different. She's missing and presumed dead, her husband Mark is on autopilot and her children are surviving. She is discovered in a hospital over seas and is returned to a joyous family that she doesn't remember making. From there Onuorah takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions as Kristen tries to adapt and Mark tries to help the wife he adores reaclimate to the life they created.
So, I full stop loved this book. The romance between Mark and Kristen was fantastic. It was both established and refreshingly new, if that makes any sense. As the story progresses you get a chance to fall in love with Mark just as you get to see why his love for Kristen is worth all of the effort. Mark was written as the kind of man, spouse and father everyone would love to have in their corner (never flawless, but strong, loving and dedicated). There isn't a single instance in the book where he entertains the idea of giving up and that says a lot because Kristen unintentionally puts him through the ringer. For her part, Kristen recognizes (even if she doesn't remember) that she has been blessed with a great man and appreciates and comes to love him all over again. And even as she floundered with her broken connections, you see why he loves her and how her absence created such a whole in his life. It felt... special.
Honestly, the emotions felt by all of the characters are nearly tangible. Kristen's fear of the unknown and skepticism (as a former journalist I can say she asked all the questions I would have) , Mark's unwavering loyalty, honesty and love, their son's anger and their daughters' hopeful acceptance all strike a cord.
Of course, the one thing that brings the characters through the trials and tribulations they dealt with throughout the story is their faith. Onuorah let's you know from the beginning that the Tyvetson's are a family of faith and God plays a role in getting them to happily ever after. It felt necessary for these people and I loved how she portrayed them as perfectly imperfect.
This book is a winner and a keeper. I can't wait to read it again!

First, I would like to thank Ms. Onuorah for entrusting me with her words. Second, I was given a copy for an honest review, so here goes.
This is my second experience reading an interracial romance novel with spiritual/Christian overtones. I did not like the first that shall remain nameless because of inconsistencies, however Ms. Onuorah's Remember Me attempts was a better reading excursion -- meaning that I did not flounce her story.
Let's be clear, my review is subjective to *me* but I hope it will assist other readers in their buying decision (or not) and provide constructive criticism to the author (or not) as well.
Remember Me was well-written. I enjoyed the premise about a couple's life disrupted by war, it compelled me to stick with all 200+ pages. I loved the way the book began, allowing me to see a typical day in the lives of the Tyversons.
Even though there were more than a handful of incorrectly marked conversation tags that were really action tags and I guessed (correctly that) the author would use a cliche-d virgin status in the story line, these did not detract from the overall plot. Because of Remember Me, I am intrigued by this author's other works and would purchase one of her books. Kudos to Ms. Onuorah for the special way she handled the religious theme that runs throughout Remember Me. It was done skill and care because the story did not become overly preachy, but was, in my opinion, a realistic look at a family dealing with an unplanned upheaval. I can only imagine the fine line an author has to walk while writing a romance novel with spiritual overtones.
These are the areas I would have liked more exploration (***SPOILERS may be inadvertently shared):
1. we learn Kristen has a step-father who put her down verbally because (it's hinted) that he wanted her sexually. Even though she shares a close relationship with her deceased mother, Kristen never shared that information to her which seemed plausible with me. However, I was wondered why Kristen never harbored any residual issues with her mother or why the author never considered adding that emotional conflict as an additional way to let the reader more into Kristen's head.
2. the sex -- it was fade to black. I am a woman (near these fictional couple's ages), a wife, a mother, and a Christian ... the sex and it's descriptions left much to be desired. To me, there was no chemistry. One can fade to black yet still draw the reader into the very intimate experiences of the mates. However, I felt disconnected. Additionally, the couple's first sexual re-connection (after the accident) occurred after an event with Mark's family which I felt, in my opinion, (the timing) was out of place.
3. Mark and his step-mother ... more was simply needed, in my opinion. He resolved his issues with his father, but we're all left hanging when Mark's and his step-mother's relationship is left wide-open at a potentially emotional scene. I asked myself why didn't the author take the plunge and explore the fall-out from this scene. And, again, it's my opinion that the "events" that happened afterward simply felt disjointed.
It's my opinion that had #1 and #3 (from above) been included, the reader would be introduced to another layer of conflict and see how the main characters resolved (or not) them. In all, Remember Me is well-written with consistent characterizations and a compelling plot, exhibiting the power of forgiveness, redemption, and love.

Get out your tissues and your devotionals for this one. Remember Me is a well written tale centered around an interracial family in Atlanta. The mother, Kristen is a world famous news anchor for one of the most popular international news programs on a major network. She is the first black woman to hold that position. Her job requires that she travel, often to dangerous locations throughout the world. Her latest assignment is to report the end of the war in Afghanistan. Mark, her husband is a very successful accountant who works out of their home. A devout Christian, he dotes on his wife and three kids. (Jessica the oldest, Caleb the only boy and Kylie the sweet little girl) He is the quintessential family man. Their marriage is one dreams are made of.
As you can guess from the title of the book, someone forgets! Well duh! Okay in all seriousness, Kristen and her crew are targets of a bombing in a village in Afghanistan the day before she is supposed to come home. Assumed dead, the news is relayed to the family. With no remains found, Mark holds out hope for a while until he is convinced that she is dead. They have a funeral and the family is grieving the loss of their wife and mother. On the other side of the world, Kristen is in a coma. When she awakes she finds that she doesn’t remember much. Luckily she is recognized by a family friend who is a doctor over there. He brings her home to her family who she doesn’t know. She has lost the last eleven years of her life.
It is a HUGE adjustment trying to figure out who these people are. She knows logically the handsome man looking at her with love filled eyes is her husband, but she can’t fathom marrying him. He’s white after all, and she had never been attracted to white men. She knows that the three cherubs staring at her are her children, but she can’t remember giving birth. On top of all that, her beloved mother has passed away and she must re-live that grief.
This story uses the bible and references it often without overwhelming the reader and without being preachy. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 is the mainstay of the story. The characters are very faith based and rely heavily on the word. God even speaks to the man and wife as a guide. We see the characters go through the process of getting their lives back on track. Mark is as close to sainthood as a man can get! He is so patient and caring and such a great father. However, he is not perfect as exhibited during a really bad fight where he loses his temper and says some hurtful things.
This family survives on love, God and the unspeakable drive to be together. There are some sex scenes between the couple eventually, but they are written in such a way that you wouldn’t blush if the preacher saw them. The author did a nice job of keeping it clean. Now you all know I love a good steamy, nasty sex scene, but it was nice to take a walk down wholesome lane for a change of scenery. The book was so good that I had to force myself to put it down to get a few hours of sleep, before waking up and finishing it.

I try as much as possible to stay away from 'memory-loss' books. I liked this one though. It was well done and the dialogues and interactions between Kristen and her family after the reunion were believable.
The fade-to-black scenes took away from the chemistry between Mark and Kristen.
Also, Jack was hitting on her right? I wish that was explored further. Let's really make a drama.

Remember Me.... ah, what a beautiful cover photo of interracial love. Remember Me is a wonderfully written story of love, loss, patience, strength, endurance, trust, hope, and belief. It’s a well paced book that stays true to the subject matter and Christian family values to the end. The passages and Bible references I feel are appropriately placed throughout the read and does not take away from the story but enhances the characters identity. As in many religious themed books, the intimacy between the couple (especially interracial couples) does not translate in the writing. Here, I have to say author, Michelle N. Onuorah did a fantastic job of showcasing the heartfelt intimacy between the interracial couple. And, so everyone understands when I say intimacy I am not talking about sex. I am referring to the connection and rapport the couple has between one another; the attachment and familiarly one feels for another when you know you’re with the right person. Remember Me is an inspirational Christian tale that left me in love not only the MCs Kristen and Mark Tyverson but, the Tyverson children as well.
Kristen Tyverson is a career driven woman and has made great strides in her professional career. Just in her thirties, she has the coveted position of being the first and only African American World News anchor for ABC and is recognized as a celebrity in the community. On the personal side, she has a wonderful husband and three children who love and adore her. Keeping both her career and personal life balanced is her Christian faith.
During a reporting assignment in Afghanistan, the vehicle Kristen was riding in exploded. No survivors were named. Months later it was discovered she was not only alive but had amnesia which claimed 11 years of her memories. An uphill battle of feelings of not belonging and fitting in prove difficult for Kristen and her family upon her return. A reoccurring emotion for Kristen is the constant idea of who she thought she was compared to the woman she feels everyone else sees her as. Other emotional issues Kristen was working on prior to the accident have since resurfaced, making recovery even more difficult.
Mark Tyverson lovingly steps up as a single parent to their three children. His silent strength is displayed as he leads his family into everyday chores, cooking, school work, and bedtime rituals while his wife wrestles to figure out her place in her home. Mark also shields the children from the harsh reality that Kristen feels no motherly connection to their three children after her return. Mark expertly keeps his fragile family together with patience, love, and faith. He is determined to keep his family together and to show Kristen although she does not remember their union, they are meant to be together.
What I love about this story is that it feels realistic. I can see any family who has a love one that travels for work, in a situation like this. There are many great and passionate moments in this book. I was teary eyed when Kristen returned home not to recognize her children and the devastated looks on the children faces.
This is the first time I have read anything from author Michelle N. Onuorah and will not be my last. Although Kristen felt like an imposter in her own life most of the book, the showering of love and support from family, friends, and her faith pulls her through. If you're fan of well written Christian romances and HEAs, I highly recommend reading Remember Me.

During a reporting assignment in Afghanistan, the vehicle Kristen was riding in exploded. No survivors were named. Months later it was discovered she was not only alive but had amnesia which claimed 11 years of her memories. An uphill battle of feelings of not belonging and fitting in prove difficult for Kristen and her family upon her return. A reoccurring emotion for Kristen is the constant idea of who she thought she was compared to the woman she feels everyone else sees her as. Other emotional issues Kristen was working on prior to the accident have since resurfaced, making recovery even more difficult.
Mark Tyverson lovingly steps up as a single parent to their three children. His silent strength is displayed as he leads his family into everyday chores, cooking, school work, and bedtime rituals while his wife wrestles to figure out her place in her home. Mark also shields the children from the harsh reality that Kristen feels no motherly connection to their three children after her return. Mark expertly keeps his fragile family together with patience, love, and faith. He is determined to keep his family together and to show Kristen although she does not remember their union, they are meant to be together.
What I love about this story is that it feels realistic. I can see any family who has a love one that travels for work, in a situation like this. There are many great and passionate moments in this book. I was teary eyed when Kristen returned home not to recognize her children and the devastated looks on the children faces.
”Where is my family? Who are these people?”The abovementioned declaration hurt one child deeply and makes for a challenging bond later on. The Tyverson children are well raised and behaved. They know the Lord and pray regularly. There's a moment of consciousness that Kristen experiences when she realizes she has an awesome husband and she thinks
"I'm falling for him."The Tyverson family is typical family who has experienced turmoil. How the family comes together in these trying times is nothing short of touching.
This is the first time I have read anything from author Michelle N. Onuorah and will not be my last. Although Kristen felt like an imposter in her own life most of the book, the showering of love and support from family, friends, and her faith pulls her through. If you're fan of well written Christian romances and HEAs, I highly recommend reading Remember Me.

I've had Type N on my shelf for some time and now I'm kicking myself for not reading it sooner because this book was a gem to read! I had a hard time putting it down and was so disappointed every time I had to go do something. That's a great sign for a book making my keeper shelf and this one has earned it! The strength of Remember Me lies in the characters.
I love the way Ms. Onuorah gives each character their own personality which bounces off each other so smoothly. The Tyverson's were such an adorable family! The kids came across precocious yet respectful and never annoying. I enjoyed seeing them come together to help Kristen through her recovery. I also loved how awesome Mark was and how tender, patient and supportive he was of his wife. He reminded me of my own husband and I often found myself reading and stepping into Kristen's situation to empathize with her. Her journey back to her family was one that had me cheering and sometimes I even wondered if she'd get her full memory back. I loved that the story was inspirational and the subject of faith and God fit right into the healing process.
I hesitate to call this a mere romance because it was so much more than a romance story. It's a story about falling in love again, finding out what really matters in life and learning to trust. There were a couple of great side stories the author dealt with regarding Caleb reacting to his mother's return, how it affects his schooling and also another story about the death of Mark's mother and the rift between his father that were dealt with in an engaging manner. The characters all felt like living and breathing human beings and a family I wouldn't mind knowing in real life.
The one criticism I have is the narrative style which was slightly confusing due to the head hopping POV and omniscient perspective. The characters and writing were strong enough to suck me in each time and after a while, I embraced it as a style choice from the author.
I appreciated the fact that the author didn't spend too much time on Kristen's life before she went to Afghanistan. It gave this reader a chance to go on the Tyverson's journey back to what life was like before Kristen left. I was cheering for Kristen and many times wondered where the story may take me. Some readers may find the course of actions predictable but those wanting a comforting, inspiring and uplifting read will devour Rememer Me and find themselves revisiting the Tyverson's journey in the future once again.

Tender. Loving. Heart wrenching.
Kristen Tyverson has a life that could be envied by many. She has a husband she love dearly, children she adore, and a job that she has cultivated and loves. This all changes for her with that one more story. Doing the job she loves, she reports on conditions in Afghanistan, then severely injured during a bombing. In that one instant most of the life she knew is taken away from her.
Mark Tyverson believes his wife to be dead after a bombing in Afghanistan where she was reporting. Then months later find that she is alive, but with no memory of him, their children, or the life they once shared with each other. Regardless of her memory loss, he is determined to make her remember them. He is willing to work at it and work hard he must.
This story does more that show the trials of Kristen's life but of those around her as she builds the gaps in her memory. There is tenderness, love, and the heart wrenching pain that is experienced by the children, her husband, and herself.

This book was incredible!! It became very personal for me, because as an Enduring / Iraqi Freedom Vet coming back home to my four children and husband and seeing the toll that it took on them, I could totally relate to everything (except the memory loss) that Kristen , Mark and the children went through. Stepping back into your role as wife and mother isn't just automatic and the author did a beautiful job of letting me go on this family's journey to get their love and lives back on track.
I also liked that it was a Christian book that showed such intimacy without getting too indepth, and I liked that we got to see a little of Mark's life.
I do have to say that it would have been very believable for me if Caleb would have been acting out purely because of what Kristen said when she came home without the problems at school. That scenario, to me, wasn't needed.
I'm over an hour late getting ready for bed, but just couldn't wait until tomorrow to finish!

Now this is what I'm talking about when I want to read a well written and captivating inspirational read. I was a bit hesitant to read this novel, but I'm glad I did. The characters were developed well and the plot had just enough crisis to keep me engaged. I could barely put it down (in fact, I'm pretty sure the only times I did were when I HAD to be focused on a task at work and when I was driving lol).
Now while I didn't agree with everything the characters did or said, I felt that I could still connect to them and be in their world and root for their family.
It also helps 100-fold that she mentioned Zora and Nicky which is one of the best inspirational novels I have read.
Because of all the above, I can honestly say that Remember Me is definitely going to be a repeat read for me (as are Julie by Catherine Marshall and Zora and Nicky by Claudia Mair Burney) and I can say that I can't wait to read what Michelle Onuorah has for us next.

Wow words can't describe how beautiful Kristen and Mark story was, brilliantly written, I had tears in my eyes throughout the book. I have never heard of this author but so glad a fellow book lounge reader recommend it thanks Marcia, best recommendation ever for me, really love this book both Mark and Kristen went through a really hard time during her ordeal yet love bring everything together perfectly. I would say its a religious book but the story was so well written, you wouldn't even think of it that way while reading the story, great job love the book.

This book is the second one I have read by this author. Remember Me by Michelle N. Onuorah has some of the same religious and inspiring overtones as Jane and while she tackles some weighty issues, she uses a much lighter touch in telling her story (Jane was hard to read at some points). Kristen and Mark Tyverson have been happily married for over a decade and have a lovely relationship replete with sweet children and wonderful careers. Kristen is the nightly anchor on a major network and occasionally travels as a part of her work duties. Her latest trip takes her to Afghanistan on a routine mission. However, the outcome is nothing close to routine and Kristen is presumed dead. Her family is mourning her passing as she unexpectedly returns! Her return is not the joyous reunion one might anticipate….Kristen has amnesia and does not recall the significant and important events of the past ten years: her marriage, her mother’s passing, the birth of her children, the trajectory of her career! The people weeping tears of joy at her appearance are just strangers to her, crowding her and wanting something she can’t give. Ms. Onuorah gives her readers a lovely and sensitive story and we can see and feel both sides of the narrative. Kristen is lost in her past; she has just started her career and is footloose and single. Mark is looking at the embodiment of the love of his life, only she doesn’t love him back. I enjoyed all aspects of this story as we wondered will she remember or won’t she; will she learn to love them as she is now, or will she give up and walk away?

It was good, the plot is solid and the characters too. The writing style is a little confusing for me, it can changes perspective right away no signs whatsoever so there's that. There are some details that doesn't sit well with me. The said details is alright but for me some seems a little too good to be true to resolved or left unresolved and forgotten.

This was such an enjoyable light read for me, and I love the faith aspect of the book. The author did it in such a way where she wasn’t trying to shove anything down anyone’s throat. It was written beautifully.
I love how the romance was written between Kristen and Mark. It just flowed beautifully nothing was rushed, and how Kristen comes to grip with this life that she doesn’t remember and also the racial aspect of it her navigating how she’s married to somebody of a completely different ethnic background and how they relate to each other.
Many important topics were brought up, race, political background, etc. and I just thought it was written beautifully and didn’t come off as cliché or anything like that. As a reader, it made me think about many of these things that as a country we’re still struggling with today.
Definitely a very enjoyable interracial romance filled with faith, and a family come together.

this book is so pure and sweet and shows a man's incredible love for his wife and her journey to get back in the rhythm of living after being presumed dead. An inspiration on how to live a God centered life and though he was not perfect you can see a man's love for God translate to his love for his wife and children. His family in general. The portrayal of Mark and Kristen relationship after she returned even the varied response of her children were very realistic.
Two great responses from Mark to Kristen:
"I am your husband. You are my wife. Anything that is mine: money, time, resources, anything - is also yours." - after her dr visit when she thought he was upset b/c the medical bills or it took several hours. Turns out he was upset b/c she was in pain
“Yes, I do.” he countered. “You don’t know me. You can’t love me yet because you don’t remember. But I know you and I love you. And I hope you will get to know me again and possibly grow to love me. Just give me a chance. We’ll take this one day at a time.” - after she expressed her doubt of him loving b/c she felt he didn't know her.

The most boring book I ever read!
It seems interesting when you read the brief description of the book, however, after too many descriptions about her life and how she handle situations with husband and kids after losing memory...become the most boring book that I read in my whole life, also describe her as sweet, succesful, emotional woman ...when we know that black women usually are agressive, rude, cold and mostly lazy and not succesful at all. I dont buy the image of Kristen. This book is a waste of money and time!

Realistic and contemporary
This is a timely look at a journalist in today's political climate that suddenly finds herself with amnesia and having to readjust to everything and everyone in her life. The story is very good in that it delves into so many nuances that amnesia can affect on your work life, home life, and your psyche. I would have preferred a see bit more information regarding the incident that led to the amnesia and the way things got resolved in the end, but, overall,it was a compelling story.

This was a great Christian story about Mark and Kristen. Kristen is a newscaster and travels to the Middle East leaving her husband and three children behind. During her trip the tanker that she and the film crew used blows up. The family is given the devastating news that the crew is dead and no body was found for Kristen. Life moves on for Mark and the children. I won’t say more because I don’t want to spoil it. I loved this storyline.

I thought this was an ok story, well developed with great characters , family unit and storyline. It was a bit repetitive in parts but on the whole a good read. If you want a light but wholesome read, I would definitely recommend this book. Thank you MNO 😁

Great story!
This was an awesome story! I love the way this author writes the story was so believable. This is my second book by this author and I truly loved it. I could not put it down. I highly recommend this book to my fellow romance readers. This was a very entertaining book.

Remember Me was nothing like how I expected! I'll admit that based off of the cover I thought it was going to be more of this heart-wrenching romance, but it wasn't like that! There were heart-wrenching moments and some romance weaved into the story, but the spiritual deepness of the novel was amazing! Michelle really delivers a perfect story of what love is based off of 1 Corinthians 13!
One thing I thought was interesting about this novel is the events and situations that occur based off of real events in 2014! This is the first novel that I have read like this with references to Obamacare, the Kardashians, and other well-known movies! It really brought a freshness to the story that helped me to relate to Kristen and Mark! Of course with this Michelle includes some good humor that gave me a good chuckle every now and then!
The story as a whole was really powerful and as I said before, heart-wrenching! I could not even begun to place myself in Mark and the kids shoes! It was such as an amazing journey that this couple took and the time, patience, as well as love that when into making their marriage work again! It really blew me away!
If your looking for a story of true dedication and love in bringing back a marriage from the "dead" then this a great one to read! I will warn you as the author did mention that their is some language and a little bit of sexual tension!

Remember Me by Michelle N. Onuorah was an amazing book! I could not stop reading it and I was so sad when it was over because I didn't want it to end (books rarely get me in this state)! I would recommend Ms. Onuorah's book to anyone who enjoys a good romantic novel or just a great book to read (I've already recommended it to some friends)!

Ms. Onuorah crated such a beautiful story, as well as incredibly believable characters who are inspiration to all of her readers:) I would highly recommend this book...it will be worth every captivating moment you spend reading it!

I'm not usually someone who enjoyed reading inspirational romances. Often I find the religious aspects intrusive and heavy-handed, which leads me to stop reading. That was not the case with Michelle Onuorah's Remember Me. Kristen and Mark's story--one that is fraught with the pain of post-traumatic stress, of memory loss, of losing faith, of trying to find their way back to one another.
I really liked how authentic her characters felt. One of the aspects that I really liked was Mark's steadfast belief that his wife's memory would return, that she would remember their life together and the love they had for one another.
It made for an interesting study of a couple dealing with the casualties of war--a topical situation considering the times we live in when, in some way, we have all been touched by the consequences of the Iraq/Afghan Wars. Again, the author handled the inclusion of the war and Kristen's struggle quite well, without ever teetering into overly melodramatic territory.
Remember Me is a very satisfying read and I look forward to reading more from Michelle Onuorah in the future!

I wasn't sure about Remember Me when I first read the descripton of the book, as to me the "lost memories" books have been done. But Michelle Onuorah had a sale on Remember Me for .99, so I figured "why not?" and got the book. (I had LOVED Type N and Taking Names. I knew it is a different type of book from those.
I am glad I did buy Remember Me as I enjoyed it! It is all about love; not just romantic but family love. I expected more romantic love based on the cover, but still enjoyed the book.
The beginning is heartbreaking: What Mark goes through thinking Kristen passed away, when in fact, we as the reader know she is alive! I am just a few years younger than Kristen so I identified with her when she realized how much time in her life she lost. I put myself in her position thinking back to the year 2003 and how much of my life I would have lost. I actually put the book down and thought about that for a while.
I enjoyed the faith that Mark and Kristen have in the book. Michelle Onuorah is a proclaimed Christian and wrote that disclaimer in the description of the book. I look forward to reading more from Michelle Onuorah in the future!

This is the first book I read from this author. This was a beautiful love story of Kristen and Mark Tyverson. Kristen is a famous and successful news report. She get's injured while covering a story in a worn-torn country. She losses her memory.
The book starts by showing this loving family. The love between these two people and their faith. The accident that leaves Kristen with no memory of the last 10+ years test the family's faith and love for each other. For Mark, how do you introduce yourself back to your wife. How do you rebuild?
This book was amazing because you could relate to these people. In Mark's attempt to "court" his wife, you could see the love they had for each other. Yes, this family was religious and leaned on their faith to get them through. What I liked about that aspect of the book was that it showed that even religious people struggle to comprehend the next step.
I think this story was done beautifully with such grace.
On a side note: I wanted to strangle Mark's Stepmother....there I said it.
