Cute and funny sibling story. Bumble’s life is pretty much idyllic until a mysterious, uninvited “guest” moves in. He’s about to toss her out when he hears, “Bumble,no! You be nice to your sister.”

( 4-5 ans+)

The book starts with a dog dressed like Sherlock Holmes saying "No ... I didn't run away again. In fact, life has been amazing lately!" The illustrations show the dog soaking in a bubble bath, hogging the bed and blankets while their human is on the very edge of the bed, and having a birthday party. I guess this must be a sequel but I have not read the other book and wish that this was made as a "stand alone" book. The dog starts noticing things like a broken plant pot and lots of scratch marks around the home. Readers get a peek at the dog's evidence board, too! The dog identifies that a cat must be the cause and catches the cat, but their human says "be nice to your sister!" The cat brings a dead mouse to the dog, which was my least favorite part of the book, knocks the dog treat canister off the counter, and gives the dog a massage. Eventually, the dog apologizes to the cat and recycles all the papers from the evidence board. At the end both the cat and dog are snuggled up in the human's lap. I love that the human is a woman of color, sleeps with a bonnet, and has pajamas that match the dog!

Our friend Bumble is back. We just met him in the companion picture book I'm Not Missing. 🐕

Bumble has noticed some suspicious goings-on at his house. Fur in his food, piles of gross-looking grass, claw marks on the furniture, and that feeling of being watched. 👀

What is happening? Could that black cat he has seen in the yard have anything to do with it?🐱‍👤

Surprise, Bumble! You have a black kitten sister named Queen. 👑

As with the companion book, the illustrations are clever and engaging. The spread with Bumble putting the clues together is a hoot. When the two pet 'siblings' become partners around the house, there is a heartwarming spread showing their adventures.🦴

We will take Bumble's advice from the earlier book to let sleeping dogs lie. For him, having a pet sister is "the cat's pajamas."😻

Thank you to Little Bee Books and Edelweiss+ for a DRC in exchange for an honest review.

Bumble is back and he has a mystery on his hands - some strange things are happening around the house; furballs found, scratch marks everywhere, broken vases.... who or what is doing this? That is the premise of this very funny picture book . As it turns out the cover might give it away, but as Bumble solves the mystery, he learns to adapt to the big change in his life. This is a great read aloud that the very young can help solve as the story unfolds; it is also a fun book about family change. All in all it is a fun book - the illustrations are expressive and colorful and the pace is quick. There are also a few gross-out elements which will get some big laughs!

Jester's thoughts.
I read the first book about two weeks ago and just had to get my hands on the second one! Though I didn't enjoy this as much as the first, it's still pretty entertaining!

Bumble, how could it take you so long to figure out the mystery? You're the dog of the house.

Having a new sister isn't so bad. In the end, things worked out fine.

This is one of those books with "dog is boy" and "cat is girl", but eh, I don't mind.

2 stars (it was okay)

This wasn't my favorite. They drew me in with a picture of a cat on the cover but then the book was mostly about a dog! I can see this being a good book for a family who is getting a new pet but I'm too biased against dogs and for cats to really enjoy this one. Plus I saw that the dog is from another book that I haven't read.

I bought Un-Wanted (Bumble and Queen) for my granddaughter because it was on her Christmas wish list. I read it first and found it witty and cute, with a fun old-school detective feel told through animals. The illustrations are playful and engaging, and I know she’ll really enjoy it.

Cute for the most part, but I don't love the outdoor cat.

Delightful, but in my personal opinion not quite worth four stars. I didn't feel like I got to know the cat at all.

Very funny book about a dog cluelessly trying to solve a mystery. Lots of great sight gags and humorous details as our bumbling detective fails to realize the eerie presence he has sensed, turns out to be the cat who lives with him. 3.5 stars rounded up.

Ok going to preface this by saying we are a dog family but my 8yo is cat OBSESSED! This was the absolute perfect book for us. The story follows a silly pup (Bumble) as he puts together the clues to discover that *surprise* he has a new sibling, Queen, the cat! The illustrations are hilarious (numerous illustrations of poo, which you know my kids loved) and the overall story is sweet and fun!

Would be absolutely perfect for anyone adding a new sibling or a new pet to the family or just as a fun read! We absolutely loved this book and will definitely be adding the first in the series to our collection too!

Thanks to the author and publisher for the ARC! We are absolutely loving it!
