We have one life on one earth. For some, that means destroying; for others, it means protecting. Make your choice.
An all-new and exciting self-contained story!
Berg Katse pollutes and plunders the country of Atrena to obtain rare mythical elements that enable a psychic link between weaponized mech and their Galactor pilots. Meanwhile, Joe and Ken’s friendship is tested during their mission to rescue Atrena’s royal princess, all while the Science Ninja Team discovers an ancient underground temple that holds the secret to defeating Galactor once and for all.

I wanted to give this book 3.5 stars. The retro artwork gave it an even more nostalgic feel for me, but the story was too rushed, to the point it seemed to be missing panels.
There is a new ruler in the kingdom of Atrena. Undercover G1 (Ken) and G2 (Joe) are expecting an assassination attempt, but Galactor's plans are so much worse. With G1 and G2 caught in the destruction, the rest of the team will have to deal with another Galactor attack at less than 100%. Can salvation be found in the past? What will be the price of victory?
Good artwork but too much to cover story-wise in just one book (four issues). The story had a lot of potential, but it probably needed at least six to eight issues to show everything. The book finishes with a variant cover gallery.
A spinoff of the ongoing Gatchaman series. Felt kinda meh about it. The story wasn't well developed and kinda meandered. It felt like the writer was reading other comics, came across an interesting concept, and threw it into this story without considering whether it fit. Hey. Joe is protecting the newly installed Queen who's holding a car race (cause Iron Man 2 did that), and there's an underground city (cause everyone did that) and the underground city had magic mushroom spores that enhance one's ability to pilot mecha (cause Dune had something like that).
The story was...passable. In that if I taught English and a student handed it in, I'd give them a B-C. Could have used an editor. Oh it had one? Does Chas! know that an editor's job is more than just checking for spelling errors?
The art...is also passable. I wasn't a fan. I don't think they're good for what's supposed to be an action title. The panel layout and pacing suffered and a few pages I wasn't sure what was happening.
Overall, Mad Cave's handling of the IP has been...tolerable. But I really miss when Image/Top Cow were releasing Gatchaman/Battle of the Planets comics back in the 00s.
Eh, Joe and Ken get trapped underground by a natural disaster. It's not the best story. The art's OK. To be honest, I'd rather have had Edwards draw this rather than write it.
