DNF but what I read was really good. Found this story on Good Novel but I refuse to pay to read chapters. I would rather buy the book outright. That way I can go back and reread the book if I want.

Pay per chapter is just ridiculous. Booktok got me. I paid for the first installment, then found it on Google. I made it to Ch. 163 of 612. The book has great characters and plot. BUT OMG GET TO A POINT!! There are so many convoluted storylines thrown together. It was like 5 books were edited together accidentally. Pick one or two problems to deal with, not ten.

Review of the actual book:
The author, Taylor West, is a good writer and the story is engaging and kept me interested through the first 272 chapters. Yes, I said 272 chapters, out of 600 and counting.
There are werewolves and there are Lycans. Lycans came before werewolves and when they 'shift' from their human form, they are a wolf/human hybrid. Werewolves shift from their fully human state to a fully wolf form; they can hear/speak to their wolf in their human form and the human is still present when in wolf form.
In this book, the werewolf community believes that all Lycans have died out until Rogues begin attacking humans and werewolves.
Neah was treated as a slave in her former pack until recognized as "Mate" by the Alpha (leader) of a large werewolf pack. Her progression from mistreated slave to Luna is interesting and well done.
However, due to the expense of buying chapters or earning coins, and the ongoing nature of the book, I just can't continue with this book.
My tag "couldnt-get-through" isn't true in this instance when talking directly about the story, but I didn't want to create a new tag just for this book.
The story had several opportunities for the author to close out a "Book 1", and then continue the story in additional books. I'm not familiar enough with the author, or e-readers in general, to know why the author chose to create a never-ending story, other than money.
If I come across this story in another form, I would happily pick it up and finish reading the story.

Review of the style of the book and e-reader company:
I found out that this "book" on the e-reader is an "Ongoing book". Unfortunately, I didn't figure this out until I was 200 chapters into the book.
I am not the audience for this type of book. An "ongoing" book means that you have no idea when or if the author will ever end the story. They just keep adding updates/chapters on a schedule set by the e-reader company.
Readers buy chapters by earning coins or buying a bunch of coins. GoodNovel also offers subscription options for about $15/week or $199/year. ($15/Week = $780/YEAR!) This seems way too expensive to me when many of the books on the site are not well-written. You almost cannot earn enough coins to cover more than a couple of chapters per day without watching several videos/ads. And many chapters are barely 2 pages long. It feels like a money grab and that's not how I like to read. I like to lie down and read for several hours, and I want a whole book when I read.

Several books I tried to read after I dropped The Alpha's Contract were so poorly written that it seemed the author either used AI or was a non-native English speaker. Editing is poor, even in the good books. Entire sentences of random words strung together were unreadable.

I gave this e-reader a shot (GoodNovel) and now that my coins are gone, I'll be deleting the app and my account. I have other e-readers on my phone and each one appears to handle subscriptions/book purchases differently.

Reader beware. This is a pay to read novel that has no ending. It stops with no cliff hanger, only the announcement that the book is in the process of being serialized. It would be a 5 star read if the author used an editor and proofreader and provided an ending. There are too many errors to overlook.
It is a good story that needs work. It has everything: wolves, Lycans, hunters, spells, witches, and many plot twists. Too bad it doesn't have an ending.

First thing, many people have read a snippet on this book but have been unable to find it or get around the paywall on other sites. The author Taylor West has renamed the book, made some edits, and released it on a platform called Inkitt. The books name is “The Bonds that Bind Us.” You will need to pay a $5 monthly subscription but it gives you access to all her books for the month. This story was split into two books so it’s best to pay the one time $5 fee and cancel once you finish.

Now for the review.
The book was great. It took me a total of 8 hours to read the full 662 pages but it was well worth it as I didn’t put this story down.
If you are squeamish about menstrual cycles by warned!!! I won’t put any spoilers but keep this in mind.

The story itself is really good but my main issues are that she definitely needs someone to make sure some consistency is kept and that they make sure the chapters flow better from one to the other because some pieces don't seem to connect and you almost have to guess what is meant...Also where tf is book 2?! I just wanna know how Thalia is dealt with and if Neah can finally get some freaking peace...618 chapters and it still isn't concluded it's a bit ridiculous.

I thought web books were supposed to be quick reads - oh, I was definitely wrong! This is like the EastEnders of books - it just goes on and on forever. The story was interesting at first, but it's way too drawn out. The first 70 chapters were good, I pushed through to around 100 which is when I realised there's 600 chapters! I couldn't imagine sticking with it for another 500+ chapters! WHAT COULD YOU POSSIBLY HAVE TO WRITE ABOUT?! Though some of the chapters could be written in one sentence, as nothing really happens in them! So many words and so little content!

Honestly, I just got over it.
I hope her old pack and Salem get what's coming to them.
I hope she's happy w the alpha and all is well w the babies.
I hope Damien and the doctor sister get to live their happily ever after.
I hope the alpha's brother, and the doctors twin, forgives/realises and comes home.
But I just honestly could not be bothered getting there. Parts were already annoying me and I didn't feel as though I'd be any less annoyed if I carried on.

I got to chapter 617 and I see no more. It doesn't end there, there is just no new chapters.
The story is fine for a fast read. This one in particular I read on my phone when I had smaller bits of time to fill.
But if I had to sit and read a bigger part of the story in one sitting I think it would be too much.
There is a lot to read and with that a lot of things is happening, there is no moment of peace for anyone, there is always more and more..
And still.. I hope there will be more chapters in the future:)

Bummer that the author started to rewrite right as we approach the climax of the story. Rewriting is a good idea though. There are some minor inconsistencies in this one, but it was overall a solid story. The pacing was not always great and it's not always clear how much time has passed but all in all, the author has done a nice job.
Hopefully I remember to periodically check in on how far along she is. Luckily she seems to be catching up to where this one left off.

I would have given this ZERO stars if the system allowed it…but alas, here we are. Let’s start with the “spice,” because that’s clearly what this book wanted to be known for. Unfortunately, it was less spicy and more microwaved leftovers with no seasoning. Awkward, unconvincing, and completely lacking the heat it promised. Character growth? Nonexistent. If anything, the characters felt like they were actively regressing. By the end, I wasn’t rooting for them, I was rooting for the book to end. Their choices made me question not only their intelligence, but why I was still turning pages. And yes, there’s a cliffhanger, but the story wasn’t strong enough to make me care what happens next, and I have absolutely no intention of finding out. Overall, this book only succeeded in being disappointing. Save your time and your patience. This alpha contract is one I regret signing!!!! 🙃

I normally lose interest in these types of works early on with how many errors, continuity oversight and nonsensical potholes there are...but this held my interest long enough to see it through the 618 'chapters'. (It's clearly a neverending storyline with no recent updates, but I think I'll tap out now)

The Alpha'a Contract is rich in its side-character development, depth of the world its created and just its general potential. Where it misses the mark is when it loosely ties ends together conveniently and expects the readers to believe the main characters have just moved on. In particular I'm recalling the Jenson-Raven storyline and how little their outcome impacted those closest to them. Then there's the matter of how we're expected to buy that ptsd-filled Neah accepts her future as a mother so readily. Not to mention how quickly the circumstances surrounding her launch into motherhood is just breezed over.

That aside, I loved every new character that joined the fray, from Damien and Brax, to Samara and even Silas. Now that I think about it, I think this author has a thing for twins. 😅

P.S.: I've seen 'GoodNovel' app's add at a phone game and this story was published in that add. while I was waiting add to pass the title seemed interesting and started to read it and then I've downloaded the app to read the rest. I didn't read it as paying the money but watching adds for every chapter because they released it like that for a short time.

it's really fun to read until Taylor dropped writing from the POV of the main characters and started to write from the POV of the secondary characters, like Raven & Damien!! they're so boring that you ditched Neah & Dane for them which is NOT okay!! if you wanted to write their sides you could have just wrote separate story for them rather than ruining this one!


who cares Raven's sex life with that idiot who thinks he should afraid of Dane because of some stupid thing but not because of he's an Alpha and he should damn respect him!! who cares Damien's thoughts?! I DON'T!! he doesn't have a brain to think but I should read his nonsense!!?
Damien was the stupidest one after his brother Salem.
whenever he talks to Dane he says things like "I am not scared of him" the dickhead still doesn't understand that it's about him being the Alpha and himself being nothing!! there's a huge difference. but this Stupid character taken Dane's place of written chapter too?!! it's Neah and Dane's story and suddenly it became Raven and Damien story and there's only 1 or 2 chapters for them two. I don't like it one bit. there's nothing interesting about him or their relationship.


even if there's TOO MANY writing mistakes and she doesn't even Bother to Correct them after people commented on them!! it's still fun and I would have finished it if you weren't ruined it! I could have given it 3 maybe 3,5 but there's no half star here and it got really boring with those two, can't say it enough how I got disturbed by it.


English isn't my first language eighter but you could've at least focused on it!! you did nothing about it after all that warning comments and You said you read the them and thanked them for reading it. so... apparently you don't really care what the reader thought about it even if you say so in the app or doesn't respect them enough?!!

Taylor West; even if you think that these aren't mattered, if it weren't there wouldn't be editors who try to find and correct the writers' mistakes and then publish them!! what do you say "I'm a Writer" then??!!!



it feels like writer forgot how the story continuation works! you wrote that she's the alpha, she's the strongest, there's no one like her and she's the only one that's been like that and now, after you cleared them two out and started to write Raven & Damien story, she suddenly becomes this fragile thing who can be like bitten Lycans?! it's so laughable!! she can't be, if what you wrote is true and this is its continuation, she can't be like them!! if not so, then you really messed it up by adding things that doesn't add up to previous story you told!! and it's a good thing I didn't continue to read.

The book starts off good with great characters in neah, Dane and raven. The friendship between neah and raven is awesome. The romance between neah and Dane is great but they end up screwing it up. The downside of this book is that it’s way too long and they have way too many enemies often it takes them too long to kill the enemies or someone else kills their enemies for them, but they are quick to kill a good guy that is going through something. It’s weird at the men can read their mates thoughts and insist on it, but the females can’t do the same. The book really loses it in what they do to Jess, but I was done for once they did it to Raven. It was awful and people get over their mates way too quickly in this book on other sites there is rewrite, but the rewrites don’t change what they did to Jess or Raven and those are two characters that deserved better in essence if you start the book characters like Jensen and Raven and Jess are essentially replaced by other characters that they give away much leeway too, but didn’t give that leeway to Jess and Raven, especially Raven she deserves so much better she deserve to live

It's a pay per chapter book, I found it on the GoodNovel app through an ad in a game. I did not expect to read only 12 -very short- chapters before getting slammed by a paywall. Everything so far seems to end on not quite cliff hangers, but enough that you're frustrated and can't scroll any more because paywall. I'd rather buy the book straight out than deal with this. I'm assuming a lot of this early stuff gets explained in further "chapters" but yeah... I'm not going to read something for under 30 min and come back every day to read 2 minutes for the next micro-chapter.

From checking other reviews, there's a lot of "chapters" that I cannot get to. I am skeptical of that as the ones that I read were incredibly short. It definitely feels like this was done on purpose to lure you in and make you keep paying more and more to read. If this was a printed book, each one would be 1-3 pages.

Why I gave this only 3 stars: This book does not end, and I do not mean it ends in a cliffhanger. No, it ends on Chapter 618 without any cliffhanger or follow-up. This is also a pay-per-chapter book, so you are spending well over $150 for a story that doesn't end.

What I liked about the book: The story itself was great. It's a little slow to build in the beginning, but once it gets started, it is great. There is a ton of character development, interesting twists, and unique story angles.

What would have changed that to 4 stars: One, this should have been two to three books based on the storyline. Two, editing. I get that this is a book that was shared while it was being written. That said, the proofreading/editing process would bring this to a 4-star easily. Three, of course would be it having an ending.

I actually read the whole thing! My first web novel … I won’t be reading another! It was like reading 3 books that’s never ended… until it did. Unfortunately when she decided to end it she just stopped writing on a cliff hanger, but not a neatly tied up cliff hanger that you would get with a published book. No, this was literally almost mid paragraph, mid action, nothing has been concluded! It’s really irritating. I read like 500 odd chapters got through I don’t know how many story arcs to find she starts a new one and leave you hanging. Yeah not good. This could be chopped down into 2 or 3 reasonable (once edited a bit) kindle books. I don’t understand why she is doing it this way, utter nonsense.

Honestly I was hooked from the get go and wanted to binge read this. However, I did not finish it. I simply cannot continue when this whole story feels like the equivalent to one giant run on sentence. It's seriously never ending!!! That's not to say I don't still enjoy the story, I do! But it's an absolute headache following these short chapters with no conclusion or ending in sight. I also refuse to pay every few chapters. That's crazy pants. Maybe one day this will be written in actual book form and added to KU? If that happens then I'll definitely finish it. I think, with where I ended, that I should've been somewhere in the middle of book 2. It took too much time away from my life without getting me any nearer to the end. For now, I'll imagine the continuation of each story line 🤣

1 star solely because this book is not finished and never will be. Looks like it was abandoned in November 2024 on a total cliffhanger and the author abandoned her fans along with it. Meanwhile there are apps profiting off of it and that's just as wrong as the author vanishing.

It could have been great. There were tons of side stories that always ended up connecting, a real look at the long term effects of trauma, a lot of good spicy scenes, and some great character development. The author was not afraid to kill off characters and make you feel their loss.

I suspect this was meant to be more than one book but it ended up being one very very long one. More and more was added, seemingly without end, and then POOF! Gone. It literally stops mid-thought and zero conclusion.

I started this as a serial Web novel with a new type of storyline (or so I thought) I followed this story through several reading apps in an attempt to read the whole thing, ending at the author's very own pay site. Well, for her own pay site, it should have been written in a more coherent manner. The book name changed, the character names kept changing, their love interest name's kept changing, even parts of the storyline kept changing. It changed so often I felt like I got a reader's version of whiplash. By the time I gave up (over 200 chapters later), I felt as if I'd been ripped off by an AI written novel by an AI author. Hopefully, not all new books are blender copied spit out carbon copies of other novels.
