Leigh is young and blond and beautiful and living a quiet life on the farm with his family. Only his dad left at Easter, and considering how things are with Blake, his closest, most attractive and too affectionate brother, Leigh isn’t at all happy, though he perhaps doesn’t know it.
It takes a ride into the hills, a skinny dip in a stream and a meeting with a stranger before Leigh understands exactly where his life has gone wrong. But by that time he’s locked in the attic of an old, twisted house, miles from anywhere, naked.
Paul, his captor, has a story to tell Leigh, a story that will challenge what Leigh thought he knew about himself and his capacity for love.
Todd Young writes books that sit on the borderline between gay erotica and m/m romance.
Generally, I aim to write erotica that goes a little further than the average. I spend a lot of time on my characters, trying to make them as believable as possible. While my stories are sexual fantasies, I want them to have a deeper meaning, and a quality of unexpectedness. To some extent, I am attempting to write literature, but I want my stories to be genuinely engaging. I want them to be easy to read, while at the same time leaving the reader with the feeling that they have read something meaningful.
I hope both men and women will find my stories satisfying. They revolve around romance, though there is often much more going on in the texts.
Okay, it's one of these books that totally surprised me because it is NOT what I expected.
It started like fluffy-WTF-easy-PWP or, better to say, I THOUGHT it would be something like this while reading the first 10%, and I was even VERY close to put it aside and then....BANG!!!... a sudden twist in the story. AND I was in. C-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y.
5 stars for a world where nothing is black or white, it is grey
This just blew me away. I didn’t know what to expect, I even forgot about the other reviews that hinted at something creepy.
This was wrong and right, this was, I really don’t know. How can one judge something that I am glad to have no clue about.
I don’t wanna give anything away, so I am not really telling what this book is about. It would ruin the whole experience. You just have to dive in and see what this book does to you and how.
I was sucked in right away, and though I just wanted to get a glimpse into my new book, I finished it in one session. That doesn’t happen often, I tell you!
The writing style really was something. I liked the sound of it, and I think it’s brilliant how the plot and story are revealed. I also like that this book gives no definite answers, how it sometimes only hints at things.
I will write down some more hints in spoiler tags, if you are unsure about the content and if you’re not sure you should read this…
This is a beautiful, stunning book about survivors. I recommend it.
Leigh is young. He's beautiful and 'cock-centric' in the way only horny teen-aged boys can be, so it's not surprising that it dominates his thoughts. His home life isn't perfect - surrounded as he is by his beefy brothers and detached father - but he seems to have made his peace with it. Mostly he's worried that life (ie: the man of his dreams) is going to pass him by if he doesn't go out looking for it him -- or at least place himself somewhere it he can find Leigh.
What he finds has him questioning his own understanding of right and wrong and ultimately changes everything.
The story starts out feeding you subtle tidbits of information that lead your mind in this direction and that direction while you keep rethinking your expectations of where it's going. Yet none of those possible paths that you think you've figured out are even close to reality.
I don't know how to continue without giving too much away. The strength of the story lies in the characters. Self-absorbed but vulnerable, disturbed but innocent ... they are full of constant contradictions that demand your empathy and kind of push aside the 'wrong' because it's somehow not that important any more. Until it is. And then, well, you'll just have to see.
Dark and twisted, a story about two tortured souls finding each other in the ugliest circumstances. Just what I like best.
It normally takes a lot more pages for me to feel connected to the MCs, but this was so skilfully written that when I finished it I thought that less is always more..
Doesn't mean I would've minded an explicit epilogue though ;)
***4.5 stars***
P.S.: After reading a few antagonistic reviews of this book, I went into it with extreme caution. I expected something completely immoral being shown as normal. But without spoiling anything, I'd like to say that it is not the case here. Yes, there's something atrocious happening, but the author draws a clear line between right and wrong. So, unless you're easily horrified by some gory details, there's nothing depraved going on between the main characters. Well, almost nothing ;)
From the beginning Mr Young plays on perceptions, contrasts, images, beauty, ugliness, family, love, abuse, family. He shows you one thing, then turns and shows you that it is something else, like a magician doing sleight of hand tricks.
What is really beautiful?
What is really ugly?
Which is the true love?
Strange piece, almost fairytale-ish, a dark fairytale perhaps. Lots of twists and turns, you think you are going somewhere and find yourself somewhere else.
This was really, really great. That creepy build-up reminded me of the movie Duel (especially the beginning of the story).
Leigh might not be the most sympathetic character…he comes off as quite narcissistic and maybe not the sharpest tool in the shed. But still, he grows on you.
This story was nothing like what I was expecting. I enjoyed the way the author only gave pertinent bits of information out in tiny pieces until the end of the story. I love a good incest story but the noncon bothered me this time as it damaged two individuals badly. For all their personal flaws, baggage and hurts, Leigh and Paul saved each other. The story flowed well and was a quick read but I read it twice to find all the crumbs I'd missed the first time around.
This book had some strong moments and then some floundering.
I really liked the voyeuristic feel to the writing. Watching Leigh is liking viewing a porno. All the scenes and the way they're described give a camera-inspired viewpoint. Even the hostage scene in the house with the cut-out hole and slot adds to this perception. Powerful and definitely erotic.
Now the weaker part is the story of Leigh and Paul. I don't need the explicit details for the abuse they both suffered--I thought Paul's was wrapped up quite well, enough to rattle, but not exploit--though more woven in between them with a few more caring details would have strengthened my belief in them. I love how they found a haven in each other.
Warning: This contains brocest, and not the romantic loving kind--the rape kind.
Well done Mr. Young, well done. It starts with Leigh, who has an exhibitionist streak in him. He makes plans for a bike ride & skinny dip outing, and decides to wear a training suit sized for a 12 year old. The suit is super tight, and stretched out so much that it's virtually see-through, and Leigh is into the idea. In fact, he subtly cruises guys at the 7-11 he is into it so much. The suit becomes a character. And something happens to this inanimate character, and things then get very interesting. And creepy. And sexy in a fucked up sort of way.
I liked this book. It wasn't until the very end when I got the point. The author gave away very little details during the telling of the story. It kept me guessing. A short, enjoyable read.
3 stars, 3.5, 4? Honestly, I went through so many stages while reading this, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. But when I woke up I was thinking about it (and I wasn't pissed off) so that means something. I'm not really very articulate, but I'll try to explain, and let me go ahead and say, I didn't really get it until the end, but I guess you're not supposed to. That's how its written. Oh...hard limit alert At first, I was honestly like WTF, I thought it might be an exercise in how many times one author can use "cock and balls" in a sentence. Then it was just kind of weird and I wasn't sure where it was going and I am truly a little disappointed in myself for what I had hoped would happen. Then I was scared. Stomach clench-type scared. And kind of pissed off and I was feeling all of Leigh's emotions, which was mostly scared and pissed off, but still curious. But when the story started unfolding, I was not only scared and pissed off, but horrified and sad...And then it was back to WTF, followed immediately by ..."awwww" and then I got the big smack in the face! It ended on a high note. It was so strange, I don't know that I would necessarily recommend it (but why not grab it? it was free!), but I would read more from this author.
This was a short dark quick read that I liked. The cover of this book is a little off to me it doesn't seem to fit the book. Leigh was living on his families farm when he is kidnapped while out skinny dipping. I thought that it was strange that the spelling of Leigh I thought was the girls spelling. I didn't like the MC at first it was something about them as I continued to read we learn that they have been through a lot molestation, rape and abuse. I still have no idea what was going on with Leigh and his brother Blake. Paul was creepy and although he has been through a lot he trapped Leigh in his house and he is scared at what Paul will do to him. Paul has some from of autism I was sad at the things that were done to him. This was good read that I wish was longer. I have read this author before this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.
I never know how to rate Todd Young's books. They are truly unique and always make me smile. This one is not what I'd categorize as a romance. It's also not really erotica or PWP either. The hell with it, 4 stars because I feel like it deserves it.
If you liked Jumbo, definitely check this one out when you can. This book has such a dark story.Because of this, it's memorable and terrifying at the same time.
Okay honestly this is nothing more than a little Stockholm Syndrome erotica - but hell it was good. 🤣 I actually love Todd Young’s writing he seems to never give enough of the characters which means I’m always finishing the books thinking about the characters and wanting more of them.
(4 and ½ stars) Wow! Naked by Todd Young has been definitely a surprise. And by all means, a positive one. The story of Leigh and what happens to him one morning he decides to go riding his bicycle is deeply unnerving. This self-centered young man is going to find himself in a dangerous situation which may turn his view of the world upside down. It is difficult to summarize the plot without giving away too much information and so spoiling the story. So I will not do it, just a warning… Many people may consider some of the events offensive. What I like most in this story is the way it is written. Even though it is a short story, it manages to convey a wide range of emotions. At the beginning it is quite creepy. Then there is sadness and repulsion at what we find out. There is sweetness at a certain point. But all is twisted and somehow unsettling. There is good and there is evil in this book, but they are not where we thought they were. The plot unravels slowly, and although there are hints of what’s going on, it is not till the very end that we find out that what we were suspecting is true (Yeah, I had been guessing… and hoping to be wrong). I am surprised by the fact that my opinion about the characters changed completely, and those who I did not like at the beginning (including Leigh) were the ones I liked most at the end. Damaged characters and their struggles to survive always produce good stories. And all is well if there is a happy end. Sort of.

My first impressions were, "WTF is up with this guy and his damn see through suit?"
My next thoughts were, "You better not be walking out the door in that outfit. No. Don't do it…Oh man, he's going to do it..." *shakes head*
It was a definite page turner - I couldn't wait to find out whether his suit would rip apart on him, I really wanted to point, laugh and yell "I told you so!"
I admit there was some eye rolling at the beginning but then things got interesting... very interesting. By the end I just wished there was more!
I did not see that coming! Okay so Leigh and Blake was actually a copy paste of mark and Paul "We are brothers" wow thats was os not expected!!! This story was Very different from what i had expected. Never did i expect a 18y and 30 something hitting it off like that
I didn't know what to make of Leigh at the beginning. It did n't seem the best igea to go out looking for love in an outgrown triathalon suit. I felt sick reading about Paul's youth and what Campbell and Mark did to him.
I cheered when Mark was dead, and horrified that Campbell is in a position of authority and power. How many other lives has he ruined?
I was proud of Leigh when he stood up to Blake. Blake didn't turn everyone against Leigh, but he had no respect for his brother. In Paul, Leigh found someone to respect him, though that wasacreepy way to capture Leigh's attention.
I honestly don't know what to say or do about this book. Applaud the creativity and plot or hide this somewhere where I never have to see it again. It is soooo creepy and weird. And, I'm sorry but, two wrongs never make one right. His troubled past doesn't excuse Paul's actions and Leigh's circumstances don't change the fact he fell in love with his kidnapper. I am amazed by how the author worked this tho. Brilliantly done even if I don't particularly like it.

3.5 stars I can only describe this as weird. I liked it but found myself constantly shaking my head wondering why Leigh thought the latest of his ideas was a good one. He is permanently pre-occupied with all things relating to his 'man parts'. I find it really difficult to describe this story and the ending was a bit of a surprise. I'm at a loss for words, the two MC's are highly flawed and have some serious 'issues' that need dealing with but it was certainly a fun read.
