A Golden Opportunity by J Marie Croft
Darcy longs to escape Rosings Park following his failed proposal of marriage to Elizabeth Bennet. Alas both must remain for an additional ten days for a private ball in celebration of the birthday of Anne de Bourgh.

This post is for the audiobook version of this book. I do wish audiobooks were included in the editions listed on Goodreads—it would make things so much easier! If you’re interested, you can find my reviews for the individual books included in this trilogy when they were first released. I really enjoy the concept of trilogy collections, especially in audiobook format, which offers great value for audiobook lovers.

The narrator, Liam Anderson, is new to me, but I think he shows great potential. I love the sound of his voice—resonant, crisp, and commanding when the moment calls for it. However, there were a couple of things I found a little off. First, his pronunciation of the de Bourgh name felt jarring. He pronounced it like “de Boor,” which didn’t sit well with me, especially as ‘Miss de Bourgh’ features prominently in one of the stories. I feel this is something the publisher or author should have caught during proofing. Secondly, I noticed he occasionally forgot to adjust his tone when switching between characters. His Mr. Darcy sometimes sounded too much like his Elizabeth, which was a bit distracting.

That said, I thoroughly enjoyed the stories. Jan Ashton, J. Marie Croft, and Lucy Marin are incredibly talented, and I always look forward to treating myself to their work.

I definitely recommend both the books and the trilogy, whether you prefer reading or listening!

I loved it!

It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I couldn’t put it down, I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This is a Pride and Prejudice variation. You will see the most beloved characters in a whole new way. This is a compilation of three previously published Pride and Prejudice Variations.

A More Agreeable Man by Jan Ashton
When Jane Bennet returns from a holiday at Ramsgate engaged to a handsome and charming young man, Elizabeth Bennet is astonished to find herself the only person at Longbourn questioning their attachment. Fitzwilliam Darcy arrives in Hertfordshire he discovers that George Wickham has impugned his character and is now betrothed to a lady whose enchanting younger sister has both decided opinions and strikingly beautiful eyes. Elizabeth and Darcy's doubts over the misalliance lead them to set aside their mutual distrust and determine the truth about Wickham’s true intentions, but the more they discover, the deeper they find their own hearts entangled.

A Golden Opportunity by J Marie Croft
Fitzwilliam Darcy longs to escape Rosings Park following his failed proposal of marriage to Miss Elizabeth Bennet. Alas it cannot be; both he and Elizabeth having been required to remain for an additional ten days for a private ball in celebration of the birthday of Miss Anne de Bourgh.

As the days progress, Darcy finds himself increasingly alarmed by the strange happenings that he sees, and that Lady Catherine reports, in Kent. His cousin, Miss Anne de Bourgh has thrown off the meekness and ennui of her earlier years. Displaying unprecedented liveliness and rebellion, she has been visiting the master gardener’s cottage, claiming she merely seeks his advice about her herbarium, but both Lady Catherine and Darcy suspect something more scandalous is afoot. To add to this, there seems to be some sort of thievery or vandalism occurring in the house, with precious items being pilfered or damaged. Darcy’s days are further complicated when he realizes that he may have a rival for Elizabeth’s affection, a young gentleman who is the owner of an estate near to Rosings.

There seems to be a potential scandal or heartache everywhere Darcy turns, but somewhere in midst of it all springs some hope. Can he and Elizabeth untangle all their misunderstandings or will some sort of disaster be their unravelling?

Mrs Bennet Makes a Match by Lucy Marin
Can a mother's determined matchmaking make love prevail? When Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy returns to Hertfordshire and Elizabeth Bennet, the woman he loves, their relationship has changed since the previous autumn, when she despised him. Darcy is disappointed to be greeted by coolness, but he believes he understands her prejudice.

Elizabeth Bennet knows that any chance she had of finding happiness in marriage with Mr Darcy has been destroyed by Lydia's elopement. Nothing suggests that he has any desire to rekindle the warmth between them that she felt at Pemberley. As much as they both long for each other, being together only increases the heartache. Mrs Bennet's efforts at matchmaking are not subtle and are, at times, vexing. Will Mrs Bennet's scheme work or will it only push them further apart?

So with all that and more these stories will pulls you in and hold you tight. It’s a must read. I highly recommend to everyone.

A Very Good Read

I never thought of Darcy as being a nervous person, but he certainly has his fair share of nerves in utopia book. I liked that he finally got a decent proposal spoken, and was accepted by Elizabeth who , he found, actually loved him. Altogether a most enjoyable read.
