Yes. Just yes. Loved the little Valo arc. Loved the wedding. But WHERE DID THEY SEND RAM?

Hadn’t realized this volume had ended but I’m having so much fun with this series. The stakes feel so high, the wedding was so cute and now the stage is fully set for The Battle of Eriadu, they’ve been building up to it this entire phase so I hope it’s a good one.

As the Nihil prepare to launch their assault on Eriadu, they turn to occupied Valo to bolster their troops. However, on Valo, Jedi Padawan Gavi leads the resistance against the Nihil invaders and he soon receives much needed reinforcements led by Ram Jomaram and Farzala Tarabal.

This book serves as a nice sequel to the stories 'Race to Crashpoint Tower' and 'Escape from Valo', returning us to Valo with characters who have grown exponentially since those earlier stories. This is particularly true of Ram Jomaram and whilst I'm not the biggest fan of him as a character, it was nice to see him return to Valo as a very different Jedi to the one who left.
If you haven't read either of those stories, then unfortunately you'll be missing out on this book's best element.

That said, something else I did really like was seeing a proper turning point in the war against the Nihil. Too much of the High Republic publishing initiative largely involves spinning its wheels between the releases of the adult novels, but here we actually get to see the uprising against the Nihil on Valo that throws the marauders off the planet.
I do have to give credit to another reviewer who pointed out how silly it is, however, that the terrifying Nihil seem to be uniquely vulnerable to precocious children (of which there are many in this book).

The book ends by returning us to Eriadu for the wedding of Lula Talisola and Zeen Mrala. It's mostly sentimental fluff, but I appreciate the mindset that makes a gay wedding such an important emotional beat in the series. Down with homophobes I say!

This graphic novel collects issues 11-13 of the High Republich Adventures Phase III, as well as the Wedding Spectacular one-shot. This arc follows Gavi, stationed on Valo to help waylay the Nihil, but he is just a kid, after all. There's only so much he can do. Padawan Ram Jomaram and Jedi Knight Farzala Tarabal are the more leading players in these three issues, as they are the ones to answer Gavi's call. Hopefully they make it in time!

The Wedding Spectacular is a special one-shot featuring the wedding of Lula and Zeen. Of course, it's hard to have a wedding when the Occlusion Zone prevents some loved ones from attending, and the Nihil are constantly up to no good.

This arc felt a bit lackluster to me. The artwork feels a tad off, and the story is starting to feel a bit repetative. Though, if you are a novel reader, you may enjoy seeing some different key players as the Occlusion Zone story and its various arcs progress. I was also so so so very excited for the Wedding Spectacular, and it, too, fell a bit flat. The ceremony was a bit boring and of course the addition of external conflict on their wedding day had to be included. But did it, really? I would have enjoyed just a nice cozy wedding issue. I do like some of the guest appearances and there's a nice full spread page showing the guests that is fun to just pause and admire.

This volume was an absolute delight to read. I liked that we got to check in on Gavi on Valo and that whole section was highly amusing. Now, the wedding... I love weddings. While Lula and Zeen's nuptials were long awaited and lovely, I guess I wanted something on a similar scale to the Legend's/EU's Union. But that's more to do with what I wanted than the actual quality of the Wedding Spectacular.

Yes, yes, I know I said that I wouldn't read any more Dark Horse TPBs until they made them digitally available in my country but... I really wanted to see the wedding, damn it.

An okay continuation of this series. I especially enjoyed the Valo arc, getting to see Ram return to his home as an older and mature Jedi. The plot with Gavi and the Nihil was silly, but again this is an all-ages comic so I guess it shouldn't be thought about too much. This comic leads into the battle of Eriadu, which ends up playing a much bigger role than I thought it would.

Artwork is okay. Not the best in the series, but not the worst either.

My god yesssss

Loved the little valo arc we got, My guy Ram making his return and he just never fails to bring the warmth and smile to my face:) + the wedding was truly spectacular and loved the " For life and Wife"

The Phase 3 adventure series has really been a bit hit and miss for me but i really enjoyed this volume and cannot wait to get to the rest.

This series gathers many of my least favorite High Republic characters and puts them in basically the same Perilous Situations again and again. Apparently, the best way to defeat the Nihil would be to send wave after wave of precocious children after them. They're powerless against precocious children.

As far as I'm concerned Temmin Wexley having lesbian aunts walked so that Zeen and Lula getting gay married during an invasion could run.

THIS IS THE ENDGAME

These are fine. I feel my interest waning though in what has become a very bland series with the High Republic era. It started off so strong too.
