Kinda a slow start. I like how he appreciated her wit from the beginning & saw Adeline scar as proof of her strength

It seemed a little extreme he got his heart broken 13 years ago & still couldn't get passed it. There was about 100 pages total, that was mostly sadness, that was difficult for me to read.

Overall it was a great story, I really loved how much Edmund reassured Adeline & genuinely cared & wanted to make sure she felt cared for & I love how Adeline did the same for him & how they were both genuinely wanted to help the other.

They showed true concern for the other & Edmund helped Adeline feel seen & she helped him feel understood. I loved the moments when they started to communicate with each other & were really happy, that was really wonderful to read.

This is a heartwarming story about a lady with facial scars, considered an outcast by the ton and her father, and a duke who only sees her scars as her strength, and has some issues with believing in love. Due to a scandal, they marry and attempt to build a friendship and a true, realistic marriage. Of course, there is a bitter, shrew of a woman who tries to bring pain to these characters and break up their marriage. Ms Caves has once again used her writing talents and created compelling characters, a smooth flowing plot, and a bit of drama, all with a purpose in mind for all to reach their HEA. A great book for Harriet Caves fans. I received a complimentary ARC, but I am voluntarily offering my personal opinion.

Old wounds are hard to heal!

This is a heart breaking story of rejection and ridicule for a young lady who was injured because her father wanted to show off her horse riding but put her on a high spirited horse who threw her and scared her face. He is ashamed of her and ignores her and only looks at Isabella , her sister. Adeline is spoiled goods! Edmund, Duke was betrayed by the love of his life, And by his father, after years at war , his heart is in cased in ice, but caught alone with Adeline, are forced to wed, but when he tells her it will be in name only, no closeness, she feels rejection again!

He hurried over and handled the horse. Then he approached the young lady. They new each other in fact they were smitten with each other. But the grandmothers were off telling every body about the coming wedding. So the dye was cast.

Wonderful book and characters because of a bad experience with a past lover Edmund puts trust in no woman, forced to marry Adeline he makes a pact to have a marriage of convenience. Adeline has scars on her face from a previous accident from falling from a house, she is put down with snide remarks from everyone in the ton, even her father who hides her away. She meets Edmund and it was works from the beginning, they marry and she moves to his estate outside London. They will get their HEA and so much more. Highly recommend this author and book. Happy reading!😊

Unique And Touching Story

This story is unique because the heroine is not perfectly beautiful; she has a scar on her face from a childhood accident. The story follows her as she learns it is her kindness and goodness and loyalty to others that truly determines her worth.

If you’ve ever had any feature of your face and or body that was not perfect and caused you distress, you will definitely understand the heroine’s feelings of pain.

It is also a wonderful love story, as the hero looks at her scars differently than anyone else ever has.

I recommend this book!

This was a great story. Almost too spicy but excellent. In books, and from what my great-great grandmother told us, the “ton” and very wealthy were highly prejudiced against anyone who did not fit into their very narrow window of perfection. Grandmother said a simple tiny little scar under your chin would get one labeled as hideous.

I love how this book throws that prejudice to the side and shows that people are worthy and deserve devoted love, despite a slight or major disfigurement of body or mind.

5 STARS, EDMUND & ADELINE LOVE DRAMA

5 STARS to Harriet Caves for her wonderful romance drama that takes place during the regency era plus provides a good BLURB. Book 4 gives the reader plenty of sighs, unshed tears, & big smiles as the romance continues in the social whirl of the Season, Ton High Society's activities in the Series: Imperfect Duchesses.

Great characters that deliver enjoyment to the reader along with fast paced & page turning. Several laugh out loud situations had people hushing me, without cares though.

I think this one is my favorite. Not only do i admire Adeline's strength, but I also love her composure. I hated how people treated her, even her own father. It frustrated me so much. Then Edmund was such an ass, but he got better. He was hurt and, instead of healing, allowed that wound to fester. Im so glad they both were able to find happiness. I dont think Joanna got enough disdain from the ton. And I believe the women got off too easily with how they treated Adeline. Justice doesn't always happen all the time. Im happy that both Edmund and Adeline found their perfect ending.

His scarred Duchess

Adeline and Edmund have a perfect relationship in the end and this story, if it shows anything, shows how difficult the relationship can be. It isn't all plain sailing and roses all the way!
One learns how to navigate the choppy waters and come out smelling of roses, if you are lucky!. Well done
Fabulous story, well written and presented, but a bit gushy in places for my taste.

I really enjoyed this book. There is the third act breakup in sorts so be weary but it gets resolved and I will say, I'm glad they talked some sense into the dad because he was starting to piss me off big time.

Adeline turned into a stronger version of herself by the end of the story and I loved that for her. Of course it was with the help of her husband but I feel like she didn't have any reason to hide anymore by the end and was ready to shine.

The grandmothers were great too. Wish we had more of them in the story and their meddling ways.

Faith, Hope and Love

What a compelling read with our main characters both scarred by the tragedies of life. Edmund and Adeline are thrown together in an unlikely scandal caused by their grandmothers! Heartache and low self esteem keep the main characters from overcoming their doubts and opening their heart to love. Lovely read that I just couldn’t put down!

Boring, nothing really happens. The Duke acts like a 19yr old and cant get over what a woman did to him in the past so he ignores his new wife for months, treats her so horribly after its his fault they had to get married. They don't do anything interesting for at least the first half of the book. I just gave up. The father of the MFC is just as awful as the Duke for no reason.

A classic Harriet Caves regency romance. I enjoyed this bittersweet story very much. A selfish wesel of a father, a protective grandmother and a scarred young lady who stands to blemish her sisters debut to the Ton and the brooding duke she meets by accident are the main characters in this book. A charming bittersweet tale with characters you can't help but to care for make this a great read.

Characters changed positively.

Hero realized he wasn't repeating his past. Heroine learned to stand up for herself.
Scene where father says he was wrong didn't ring true.
Graphic sex scenes aren't necessary.

brilliant

I loved this story. I’m a sucker for a happy ever after and especially when it comes after a person who wished harm gets their comeuppance. I will read it again sometime in the future.

Scars don’t mean life is over

Loved this book. So many of us have scars of all kinds, some visible, some invisible but all hard to overcome. His were invisible, hers were visible, but there nonetheless. Loved how they each overcame.

I think this needs to be proofread. I found a couple of paragraphs that repeated. Certain phrases were overused. And the father apologizing in the end just didn't seem convincing.

His Scarred Dutchess

I would recommend this book to others and know you'll enjoy this as I did. It is a wonderful way to get away for a few hours. The Duke sees her the person and finds her beautiful and not the scares of her childhood.
