This is a bit difficult to rate. On one hand, there’s nothing wrong with the story as such. On the other, it’s a complete rip-off of The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter by Yatsuki Wakatsu, starting with the premise.
An overworked office worker, Mitsuki, comes to a help of a young girl and they both get transported to another world. The girl, Maria, is a God’s Envoy whose job it is to purge the world of miasma threatening it. She’s naturally adapted with the world’s magic, whereas Mitsuki has no mana. He can’t even understand the language, so a handsome knight, Volk, gives him his blood and he suddenly adapts. But it leads to trouble later when Mitsuki’s body only accepts Volk’s mana. The two have to spend a lot of time together, and in medical emergencies to have sex even. All like in The Bean Counter, up to how some scenes are drawn.
The similarities don’t end there. Mitsuki can’t be idle, but instead of taking over the royal treasury like Kondou in The Bean Counter, he starts to help a researcher of herbal medicine. Instead of becoming addicted to herbal potions, he creates them himself. Volk worries about him and preaches to him constantly about healthy work balance. And like in The Bean Counter, the young knight develops feelings for the older office worker who doesn’t understand it at all.
The only unique feature of this story is the beastfolk. There are people who have animal features like ears and tails. Some can even change completely to an animal form. And Mitsuki really loves fluffy animals. So he’s overjoyed when one morning he wakes up next to a fluffy wolf. Of course, the wolf turns out to be Volk, who uses the promise of cuteness to lure Mitsuki into moving in with him.
Despite the obvious similarities, this wasn’t as feel-good a story as The Bean Counter. Mitsuki was rather cynical and not as likeable as Kondou. Side characters where fairly similar, with similar roles in Mitsuki’s life, like the cheery coworker and enthusiastic mage. For a mature BL manga, the spice was almost nonexistent, but there’s some in the end. I’m not sure I’ll read more. Art was good.
