Levi

When I let my best friend set me up on a blind date for my sister's wedding, I wasn't expecting that person to be Austin Cade, my brother's best friend and high school crush.

After letting everyone believe we’re together, Austin comes up with an idea.

Keep up the act, let everyone believe we’re together.

What's the harm? Neither of us have time for a relationship anyways, right?

Only, that’s not the only proposition he has for me.

Friends with benefits. If we’re letting everyone believe we’re together, why not reap the benefits too?

I’d be crazy to turn him down. This is Austin Cade we’re talking about. Sexy rugby god. The man of my dreams and star of my oldest fantasies.

But as time goes on, lines blur and feelings grow.

How am I supposed to let this man go when it's time for this arrangement to end? And when I do, will my heart be able to handle the outcome, or will this crush me harder than anything has in my life?

Austin

I've been in love with Levi Darwood for years.

After life takes us in different directions, we lose touch for a few years.

So when a buddy on my team sets me up on a date, I jump at the chance when I find out who it is.

Now that I have Levi back in my life, I never want to let him go.

The only thing is, to him, this is all fake, just for show to keep up the ruse.

To me, it’s so much more.

I’m determined to show him how good we could be together, without adding the pressure of something more after we just started this new friendship.

The only thing is, will Levi still want me when he finds out the lengths I’m willing to take to make him fall for me?

Or will I lose Levi for good this time and break both of us in the process?

MM Sweet Romance

I loved this book!! ❤️ Austin and Levi were such an adorable couple that you couldn’t help but fall in love with.
This book would be the perfect palette cleanser. It was low drama, a bit angsty (only because they needed to come clean about their feelings 😉), with mutual pining, incredible chemistry and deliciously spicy…… like top tier spice 🔥🫦

I wouldn’t change a thing about this book.
Watching Austin do everything in his power to show Levi how much he was loved, desired and how he deserved to be treated, especially after learning how Levi’s ex was, was totally swoon worthy. He was definitely an obsessed man on a mission ….. but completely in a green flag way 😂 and I was there for it!!

Although this is a sweet romance there are a few topics that may be difficult for some so be sure to check the triggers ❤️‍🩹

No cheating, No OW/OM drama, no third act breakup with a HFN…… Looking forward to the next book in the series to see their HEA ❤️

* Brother’s Best Friend/ Best Friend’s Little Brother
* Fake Dating
* It’s Always Been You
* Non ‘Playboys’
* Jock/ Nerd
* Mutual Obsession (A Bit More on One Side 😉)

I completely understand authors that set their books in Canada and use American English and American terms, but you cannot reveal to me only 35% of the way through that we are in Canada. Not only Canada but St John’s. That’s so different to what I had pictured. I liked how Helena Hunting does where she uses American English but blends it with Canada terms like university, so you can somewhat feel like you are in Canada.

My other gripe is that while artistic liberties, full scholarships for sports in Canada are basically non existent, especially for rugby. So another thing that made me assume we were in the US before the Canada reveal.

Also I understand Levi is a martyr that would say to his family “no, no don’t spend money on me. Spend it on the wedding”. They are awful people for agreeing. A wedding is not that important. His sister has spent 2yrs travelling and not saving, she can wait to get married. She does not need to be married so young with such a lavish party. Awful person for saying “yes, thank you. My one party is more important than you not working yourself to death”. She also does not show up again basically. Where did she go? Back to living her awful existence of spending other people’s money so she can have a nice day.

The ages also confused me. I really did not feel like we were in university either. I just think a couple things could have been changed to make this book follow better.

I absolutely love the cover but I dont think it matched the book itself. The book was cute, adorable, even wholesome but was lacking the sexiness the cover suggested. MCs agreed to FWB but they hardly spend time together on page until around 50%. Austin was an amazing MC but Levi annoyed me. It didn't matter how well Austin treated Levi he still wasnt sure how Austin felt. Levi was hurt in his previous relationship and that anxiety effected his trust in Austin's feelings.

LONG REVIEW: SPOILERS

💥Brothers best friend/Childhood friend
💥Mutual (long term) pining
💥Austin Virgin/and I think Levi only 1 partner
💥Hurt/Comfort Levi was in a bad relationship a year prior.
💥 no third act
💥 no other person drama...althought there was a random scene where a woman comes up to Austin and Levi in the parking lot telling Austin they were to be married because their fathers were friends. He turned her down immediately.

*Levi's best friend sets him up on a blind date to his sister wedding. The date turns out to be his childhood crush, the one who made him realize he was gay, and his brothers best friend,(Austin). The same could be said for Austin. Levi is the one who made him realize he was gay. He just couldn't come out due to family drama.

* The wedding takes up the first 15% of the book where they decide to "fake" date, be friends with benefits, and actually hooked up in the coat closet (Levi received BJs).

*Levi then proceeded to ignore Austin for over a week. It took Austin showing up at the bar Levi worked at for them to finally talk. Levi was actually laughing and flirting with another guy when Austin got jealous and walked up and kissed him. They mess around in the bathroom (Austin received BJ)

* They barely talk again (on page) until 40% there are coffee dates mentioned but not on page. Their schedules just never lined up for anything else. Austin invited Levi to a Rugby game and Levi turned him down to work. Lucky for Levi he had a change of heart and went to the game. (If he had not went I would have DNFd) They do mess around again after the game in the showers. (Frotting)

* Around 50% Levi's place flooded and he failed to communicate with Austin AGAIN! He had to find out from Levi's brother that Levi was living in his parents garage. Austin got creative and made a fake ad to trick Levi into moving in with him.

* Around 74% We found out that Austin was actually a virgin (penetration) and that is why he didn't push the FWB thing. By the time they finally had sex I was annoyed with Levi because he was so wishy washy with Austin. Austin had.....agreed to be Levi's blind date, set his own feelings aside so Levi would be comfortable,.beat up his ex, gave him a place to live when his apartment flooded, help Levi with his volunteer hours, and adopted the dog Levi wanted when he didn't even like dogs! And Levi still didn't trust his feelings for him.

* At the end, Austin confessed everything and they share I love yous but it was anticlimactic, boring even.

Austin & Levi
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶🌶

Best friends brother
College
Jock/ Nerd
Friends to lovers
Roommates
Fake during
Obsessive MC

This was my first book by Alisha Williams, and I am not disappointed.

This is a quick spicy story about an obsessed boy who loved his best friend's little brother.

“Yup. I’ve been lusting after my best friend's little brother pretty much since we were teenagers.”

Austin has finally found his “in” into Levi’s life. This man is kinda unhinged lol. He is willing to set up some damn near perfect scenarios to get into his life front and center lol

Thankfully Levi doesn't seem to mind too much lol

These two work well. Levi just out of a bad relationship and Austin freshly out as a gay man, these two for the last year have been facing their new realities, both single and gay and attracted to each other.

Austin wants nothing more than to give Levi everything and more. He is incredibly protective of him and builds up his confidence.

They are sweet together, super spicy too

This is a sweet, easy, low angst spicy book.

Austin was feral for Levi, he saw his chance and was willing to stop at nothing to make him his.

Great book

I absolutely LOVED this book so freaking much. Austin and Levi were super adorable, and I found the whole "fake dating x roommate" trope very classic, but GOOD. Them also both being secretly in love with each other since they were kids was just the cherry on top for me.

Austin was unhinged but in a good way..I don't know how else to explain it 😭. I just KNOW he gave his therapist a run for their money when it came to Levi. He was so in love with him it wasn't even funny, and when had the opportunity to be with Levi in any way he could? Oh, you know that man JUMPED at the offer!

Levi was absolutely adorable, and a little oblivious at times but I feel like that had more to do with him protecting himself. I absolutely HATED his ex because Levi didn't deserve what happened to him...hell NO ONE deserves to go through what he went through. So you KNOW I was overjoyed when Austin made it his damn job to prove to Levi that he mattered, that he was perfect just the way he is. I really enjoyed watching Levi get his spark back, and him also realizing his worth.

Overall, this book was cute, cheesey, and I loved every second of it. I was definitely on the verge of falling into a reading slump, so this was the perfect refresher. Finding something after this will definitely be a struggle...

Consider this my official announcement: I am fully, unapologetically in my MM era and it’s all Alisha’s fault.
Because WOW. This book didn’t just give me butterflies… it gave me a whole flock.

Let’s start with Austin Cade, because this man? This MAN.
Book boyfriend of the year. A cinnamon-roll core wrapped in a possessive, protective, rugby-god exterior. He’s sweet, he’s intentional, and he has that “I’ve been in love with you for years and would burn down the planet to keep you safe” energy that should honestly be illegal. SIGN. ME. UP.

And then there’s Levi….my beloved soft, sweet, needy king.
He brings all the tender, vulnerable vibes, and I could not adore him more if I tried. Watching him open his heart, stand his ground, and slowly realize that his high school crush is very much not pretending? Chef’s kiss. I melted. Regularly.

But the absolute heart of this book? The relationship they build together. The fake-dating tension, the friends-with-benefits heat, the stolen glances, the growing feelings, the way their souls just… fit. It’s the kind of connection that sneaks up on you and then wraps warm and tight around your ribcage. Their journey is tender, sensual, messy, honest and every single beat hit exactly where it needed to.

By the end, I wasn’t just rooting for them.
I was swinging for them.
Cheering for them.
Planning their happily-ever-after like it was my part-time job.

Alisha delivered a story that’s equal parts swoon, spice, longing, and grand-gesture devotion the perfect storm to shove me headfirst into loving MM romance with my whole chest.

Five stars. Zero regrets. Endless heart-eyes.
Austin and Levi own me now, and honestly? I’m not even mad about it.

Holy expo dumping, jesus. The first couple of chapters just literally having Levi internal monologue his way through his history, trouble with relationships, Austin's family, etc was so dull. Show us this stuff, don't just shotgun it via Levi's thoughts.

The dialogue just doesn't stop being so tell-y. Nearly every scene has a character just saying things that could've been better off shown through action. Charlie telling Austin about Levi's decision to not ask people for help could've been something Austin learns from direct interactions with Levi declining his offers of support. Finding out about Brogan through a flashback Austin describes could've been us seeing hints of the trauma Brogan left in Levi through their interactions (the fact that we get a bit of this later illustrated my point. Austin didn't need to give that monologue)

I gave up when the coach gave off paragraph about how "Cade and the rugby team were like sons to him and yadda yadda you're in trouble, yadda yadda idk what got into you" after Austin gets into a fight with Brogan out of nowhere.

TL;DR: Dialogue is way too awkward and forced. It was very obviously just to tell us readers what was happening/what the characters were thinking/characterization. Not nearly enough "showing" here. 2 stars.

This is not going to be eloquent review. Gosh this is going to be word vomit review. Sooo I’m really tired of reading about manwhore/virgin trope and MC being a hoe while pinning. Have I read books like this before? Yes. Was I able to compartmentalize that everyone has a past and what not? Sure BUT I just don’t want to do that right now. I want a possessive, obsessive, and jealous MC who is not a hoe. Since when they are promiscuous more often than not it’s often shoved in our faces. Mmmk! So now that I don’t want to read that! When I do read those characteristics in a book it makes me hyper focus on them which kills the romance (exibit A,B,C etc below). I try to avoid them but not all books have safety info.
So this book had so much potential but the discrepancies and time frame of events made me not believe in Austin’s love and obsession.
Pg 18 We learn Levi has broken up with bf for a year
Pg 42-44 We learn Austin has been out for a year now (Levi does say he was with his ex when he found out..) Austin say he has only messed around with ONE OTHER PERSON!
Pg 47-48 Austin talks how he has been lusting for Levi and is obsessed with him
Pg 51 Austin inner monologue “I’ve never had sex with a guy before; I’ve never actually had sex at all.”
Pg 52 Austin inner monologue he says “I have fooled around with a few guys over the past year” “…… but at least it was enough practice to give me the confidence to please Levi now. It’s also how I knew casual sex wasn’t for me.”
Pg 108 AGAIN inner monologue of Levi “He says he hasn’t been with many people, but the man exudes sex appeal.”
Pg 149 Austin’s inner monologue “The number I used is the one I used to give out on the dating site I joined for a FEW MONTHS AFTER I CAME OUT and thought diving into the dating pool was a good idea.
Pg 170 Austin’s inner monologue “…. It came in handy when I needed a way to text people from the dating app without giving out my personal number.”
Pg 183 They had not talked or seen each other in 2 years.
Pg 210 Levis’ inner monologue “He said he’s never had sex with a man before.”
Pg 232 Levis’ inner monologue after a blonde girl come up to Austin “Is this one of his ex-hookups before he realized he was gay? He mentioned he had fooled around with girls in the past.”
Pg 239-240 About to have penetrative sex. Austin says “I’ve never had sex before.” Levi’s inner monologue “I know he’s mentioned being wit people before, ……. But I guess it stopped before it went too far.” THEN he is like “ And then it hits me. I get to be the one to take Austin’s virginity. I get to be this unbelievably sexy, sweet, kind man’s first.”
Pg 240 After Levi asks for a condom Austin has this brilliant thing to say “Was it too presumptuous of me to hope, knowing you haven’t been with anyone a year, and I haven’t been with anyone well, at all, that we could skip the condoms?” and Levi is like “Yes.” “ but I’ll forgive you”
Pg 247 Austin says “Than you for being my first.”
Pg 256 his nan says that Austin “he might come off as what you kids call a playboy”
Pg 286 Austin says he came to terms with his sexuality until he graduated high school which was when Levi was already with his ex. Blah blah blah

SOOOOOO Austin was a half ass VIRGIN. First he says he has messed around with ONE OTHER person then few pages later he says he has been with a few guys over the year. So you lied…. This keeps being brought up too… Austin says he hasn’t had sex…. SIR! YES. YOU. HAVE! Just because you haven’t had penetrative sex doesn’t means you haven’t had sex because YOU HAVE done other sexual activities! So as his fucken past keeps being brought up I start seeing how it seems its emphasized guy/man… So this whole time I’m thinking (my delulu brain or optimistic brain) he has been celibate except for this past year when he has been with one per… oh wait nope few guys my bad. ONLY to find out that he has fooled around with girls in the past….. how many? Who the fuck knows cuz he could say something and then think something else. Now, the time issue for me. Levi left his boyfriend a year ago AND Austin came out a year ago! SO WHY THE FUCK DID HE FOOL AROUND WITH OTHER GUYS IF HE WAS IN LOVE AND OBSESSED WITH LEVI. Please explain that to me. Since he said he was in the dating apps for a FEW MONTHS AFTER he came out. So if Levi was single why wouldn’t’ you try to get at him! SINCE YOU ARE SOOOO OBSESSED AND IN LOVE WITH HIM! I understand not romantically at first but why not try building the friendship that you guys have lost? Austin you are frauding. Then there’s the totally unsafe sex. See above pg 240. Sir! (AUSTIN) You can get STD’s from oral so I hope he got fucken tested because who knows how many people he has been with! (cuz he can’t count). ALSO! He said he has been with a few guys over the year so unclear when his last encounter was! We know Levi has been celibate for a year but Austin? IDK I think that makes it even more icky for me. End rant.
Did these two have cute, possessive, jealous moments? Yes. Unfortunately the time frame and his promiscuity killed it for me. I know he hasn’t had P sex before but the fact that it seems he has been with a few men AND women kinda kills it for me ESPECIALLY with the time of it all AND not knowing when his last encounter was. Even though its implied it wasn’t a lot of people Austin has been with I’m not sure I trust his “not a lot.” I’m sure a lot of people will like it. It really does have cute moments. Like I mentioned before I just get hyper fixated on things when I don’t want to see them.
Will not re-read BUT kinda interested in Charlie and Cole’s book….. They don’t give me manwhore vibes but we will see.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Hooked on Him delivers a cozy, heartfelt take on the fake dating trope, blending childhood history, quiet longing, and genuine care into a story that is easy to fall into and hard to put down.

Levi and Austin were once close, childhood best friends who drifted apart over time, only to be unexpectedly reunited years later when they are set up on a blind date for a wedding. Levi is a nerdy workaholic who spends all his time working and studying, convinced he is not worthy of love after enduring emotional abuse from his ex. That past has left him constantly doubting himself and settling for less than he deserves.

Austin, who recently came out, has been best friends with Levi’s older brother for years and has carried a quiet crush on Levi since they were kids. From the moment they reconnect, it is clear Austin’s goal is simple. He wants Levi to see his own worth. What starts as a fake dating arrangement quickly turns into friends with benefits, built on comfort, trust, and Austin’s steady determination to take care of Levi.

One of the sweetest parts of the book is Austin’s devotion. When Levi’s apartment floods due to a burst pipe and he ends up living in his parents’ garage because his mother is allergic to Levi’s cat, Austin immediately steps in. He creates a fake flyer looking for a roommate just to give Levi a place to stay. It is not dark or unsettling. It is soft, intentional, and rooted in genuine affection. Austin’s obsession with Levi is gentle and nurturing, the kind that makes you feel safe rather than trapped.

The way Austin wants to spoil Levi, protect him, and build him up emotionally made my heart melt. This story is less about dramatic twists and more about watching Levi slowly heal as someone consistently shows up for him.

This was my first time reading Alisha Williams, and it absolutely will not be my last. I loved this book so much I had to force myself to stop reading at two in the morning. The spice is present but never overwhelming, woven naturally into the story in a way that supports the emotional connection rather than overshadowing it.

Hooked on Him is warm, comforting, and full of quiet devotion. It is the kind of romance that makes you smile while reading and leaves you feeling soft when you finish.

Hooked on Him - Alisha Williams
5/5

* SPOILERS *

This is probably one of my top books by Alisha. Every book she comes out is just so good, whether she co-writes with another author or just writes it by herself. I cannot condemn how amazing her stuff is. She is by far my absolutely favorite author. The feelings I felt in this book was so unreal. I was either smiling, giggling, or just crying by how I was feeling.

I knew that this book was going to be adorable just from the first few pages I read. This was such an adorable story that I will recommend to anyone that’s looking for something light, fluffy and very low angst.

Levi and Austin have been in love with one another for years. When they begin to fake date, I wonder how far they were going to take it.

I am going to say that Austin is the best book boyfriend I’ve ever read. I need him for me. The way he wanted to protect Levi at all cost from what his jerk of ex had done to him - my god, I was swooning. He would do anything for Levi! Heck, the adoption part of the book had me in tears. Peanut and Snicklefritz are the best pets for Austin and Levi. I’m so glad when Austin got the chance, he went after his ex in the most perfect way.

I loved the conversation that Levi had with his Nan because she told him how it was. She may be elderly but she still had a backbone. God, I loved her personality so much.

I was also laughing that when Austin told Levi everything he did, he told him as crazy as he was for him that he must be crazy as well.

I also loved how Austin’s first time with a man was with Levi. Ugh, those spicy scenes were so worth it. They were dirty and just everything so perfect. The crawling scene was my favorite.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Hooked on Him is a sweet, but spicy MM romance, featuring Levi and Austin, Levi’s brother’s best friend who agrees to fake dating and a friends with benefits situation at Levi’s twin sister’s wedding.

Austin is a cinnamon roll to the core until his possessiveness and protectiveness of Levi takes over. I loved all the little things Austin did for him, making him a wonderful book boyfriend.
Levi works himself to the ground, so his parents don’t have to pay for his college tuition. He’s got the absolute sweetest and kindest of hearts.

I enjoyed their relationship they build together. The fake dating, friends with benefits heat, every stolen glance between them and every time their feelings for each other grew. They have a strong, intense attraction for one another that slowly and slowly builds until it’s taken hold of you and wraps their arms around you.

There’s mutual longing between Austin and Levi, equal parts swoon and spice, a ton of grand gestures and cute, adorable pets!

I saw this book on Booktok and immediately added it to my kindle. This book did not disappoint. I love fake dating, brothers best friends and friends with benefits trope! I could not put this book down whatsoever and the only time I did put down this book was to work. I love how unhinged Austin was with how much he was in love with Levi. I love how protective he was of Levi and how he was ready to fight any of his battles. I love how Levi was also ready to go to bat for Austin when it came to his father. I love the love that these characters have for their pets and making sure that they cared for.

First, I absolutely adore Austin so much. That man melted my heart over and over again. My heart broke a bit for Levi and all that he went through, the man is stronger than he realized. I love all the little things they did for each other. I hope Cole and Charlie are getting a book, I have a good feeling about them. 🖤🔥🏉🔥🖤

My favorite quotes from Austin:

• I could quickly become addicted to this man, and I’m not even mad about it.

• He looks up at me with glassy eyes and a smile that controls my heart. Why? Because I’d do anything to see this man happy. That's why.

What a sweet story! I absolutely adore a possessive cinnamon roll and Austin is the sweetest. What starts as fake dating very swiftly turns into real feelings as Austin tries to show Levi how he feels. There is fun banter, bratty sass, and all of the obsessive fluff. And of course don't forget the spice. Overall this was a great story of remembering to take a step back every once in a while, don't let life pass you by.

Omg, the praise and dirty talk that comes out of Austin’s mouth and the way he is unapologetically obsessed with Levi is so amazing. He is the definition of golden retriever. Levi’s insecurities had my heart breaking for him. Austin’s pining and Levi’s overthinking made for the best angst. Amazing spice and a feel good story made for a one sitting read.

What fake relationship has ever stayed fake, none I hope because it's a wonderful trope to read, and here it runs perfectly. Levi needs a 'date' for his sister's wedding and ends up with Austin, his brothers best friend and Levi's secret crush. It's an up and down relationship at first but it's a nice tale even with the family interference
