Jasmine Young is the nobledark fantasy author of over 15 titles to date.
When she was thirteen, she first dreamed of becoming published after devouring Eragon in a few days on Grandma's couch. As a once painfully anxious introvert, her exposure to fantasy started with hiding out in the library with a great book.
Thirteen years later, her tomboy dreams came true.
Today, she is known worldwide as a part time hermit and a full time rebel. She is also the proud mother of birds. The family currently lounges in Florida.
When she’s not reminiscing about her gaming days or getting lost in old epics like LOTR, Jasmine writes a blend of epic, romantic, and dark fantasy to entertain and empower, especially the underdogs.

A really good novella, the story of the beginnings of the half elf Aesir, whom not even his family wants. He is treated abysmally by pretty much everyone, yet it set the stage for the man he becomes. This is a great break between book 1 and 2!
This is a prequel novella that is really launching the lore and the politics of this world. It takes place 60 years prior to the events of A Breaking of Realms and follows a character in that book. I love the way that it ended and I'm excited for a prequel series discovering more of the lore!
I really enjoyed this little glimpse into the past and learning more about Aesir. The novella provided more background to the world and has made me even more curious to continue on with the series!
Aesir is one of the most interesting characters of this series so far, and learning his history has made him even more so. Now to return to the main tale and see where this thing takes me!
Excellent novella that captures the “family of origin” and past schemata that lead to Aesir’s actions in A Breaking of Realms. Love seeing this author’s pacing and world-building become stronger and more woven together.
As usual another brilliantly written story from my newest favorite author. Her writing style brings the characters to life. This story provides the reader with the struggles that Aelis went through to become the man he is today. His story was very touching. It is filled with a lot of malice and deception. Aelis was taken when he was young from his home. He was half human and half elf and most dispised him and treated him poorly. Then he went to the Rangers hoping things would get better. Alas they did not. When he is sent on a quest, he meets someone and is gone for years. After he gets captured again his main goal is to prove that all dragons and clans must work together. I am just awed by this author and can't wait to see what happens next.
I received an early ARC; this is my honest review.
Young completely shifts gears with this new series in tone, location, society, folklore, etc. AQoR gives us some backstory and foreshadowing for the rest of the series; nicely written with great world-building. I don't know a lot about Norse mythology, but this appears to draw on some of that with a heaping measure of pure Young creativity thrown in. Great entertaining read. It has villains you love to hate and heroes you can't help but root for. Lots of excitement in anticipation of the next books!
I received an ARC of this short story. I am giving my opinion freely. I love watching Jasmine Young develop as a writer and have followed her since the beginning of her journey. This short story is a great addition to the Realm Breaker series. It allows you to hone your insight of the beginning of Aesir. I found myself more connected to this character after learning about the struggles he dealt with to become the man we know.
Aesir was one of my favourite characters in A Breaking of Realms, so I was really keen to read this novella—and it didn't disappoint! I loved diving deeper into his past and getting a fuller understanding of his place in the world. Did my heart break while learning his backstory? Absolutely. But the best stories are often the ones that crush you—in the best possible way.
This book helped me to understand the first book in the series. There were so many names and story lines to keep straight. To be honest, I wish I had read this book first. I have also read the prequel. Once again it helped made the first book have more meaning. I love the series.
I really enjoyed this book. It was very informative and yet it was very entertaining. It really helped to understand how realm building got its start. I now understand more about the ranger and how he became the man he is.
Una storia breve ma che risponde a molti quesiti che mi ero posto durante la lettura del primo e del secondo volume. In più si scopre il passato di un personaggio molto importante della storia. Libro assolutamente consigliato.
Holy smokes, this short story was fantastic. I had so many questions and thoughts tumbling around in my head about Aesir during and after ‘A Breaking of Realms’ (Book 1 in the series). Many of these are now answered. In this novella, we gain insight into how Aesir became the man he is today (in ‘A Breaking of Realms.’) And let me tell you, it was not at all what I expected; Aesir, as a boy, went through some serious stuff. Once again, Jasmine kept me on my toes and wildly entertained. The writing, style and plot is captivating, and the world-building is brilliant. This is a must read!
Aelis's life changed when he was taken from his home. With him being half-human and half-elf, he is treated like an outcast. Later on, he was given to the Rangers, and he was treated just as badly. He is sent on a quest, but things turn out not quite what he expected. He disappears for years and has met someone unexpectedly. But when he is recaptured, he has to prove that all clans and dragons can work together. This tells a little about Aelis's life and what type of person he is.
