I can’t lie, I’ve never actually seen the movie this is based on, but I did enjoy the book. Cari and Zed had an innocent teenage relationship, with a side of stalking because Zed’s dragon instincts ride hard. Their “breakup” wasn’t really either of their faults, but was still sad and left a hole in both their hearts. Cari was a compassionate and awkward vet. Zed was one half of a tech startup and a cinnamon roll. They had some pretty rough moments, but genuinely cared for each other and fell quickly back in love.

There's Something about Dragons... there really is! You have to read this, and then laugh about it with me! It was so great! It's funny, sweet, a dash of mystery, and Monsters of course. After your read it let me know if you 'get it'. I have to admit it took me a minute, lol.

Well, this was a wild ride for me.
If I told myself at the beginning of this year that I would be reading dragon smut… I probably would have passed out. Uhm… I’m still awake, but .. like kinda concerned?
The characters in this book were intriguing, but the FMC pissed me off more than I could count. The foot obsession was a little off putting for me personally, but I know some people are either into that or indifferent.
I definitely guessed the twist WAY early on, but gaslit myself into believing it was something else, just to scold myself for not trusting my gut.
Also, thanks for cutting the epilogue short. I … I don’t understand the mechanics of how that would work and quite frankly.. I don’t want to.
Anyway, this was good for a palette cleanser, I guess?
I’m still trying to figure out how to tell my friends i read this book. I guess this is how.

We had a good time reading this little monster novella. There's not a ton of drama, just enough to keep it interesting. It will keep you smiling the whole way through. We enjoyed seeing them meet and then reconnect. Our dragon Zed is down bad for his alokoi and it’s amazing to see all he’d do for her, even stalk her. The humor was fantastic and we really enjoyed the spice. Their chemistry was amazing.
Zed and Cari are cute together. We love that Zed & his feral form are absolutely obsessed and Cari wants to be obsessed over. Radar is the cutest little sausage dog and we adored him. Sometimes Zed comes off as a little immature but his feral form being all MY MATE the whole time probably didn't help his judgement any.
Overall this is an easy read that will bring you joy. Definitely recommend.

This book is exactly what it says and what you would expect. Its a Monstersmut romance with some of my favorite tropes like fated mates and the secons chance is also really nice here.
I liked the characters, even Tristan (damn I want a Tristan book rn). It's an easy nice read to relax and enjoy. I loved how they communicated in the end and how she accepted his nature. There was a lot to like about the story. Zed is just a cutie (also his mom)

Cozy, cute, and cheesy. A perfect little valentines monster romance read.
I liked the characters and the reimagining of a popular romcom. The spice was delicious and full of monster surprises!
Radar of course is the real star of the book and I absolutely loved him.

Cuddly goodness
Such a cute monster romance, it gives you all the feel-goods.
The couple grow up together as best friends, along with her puppy 🥹.
I loved that the 'mostly human shaped' part of the mmc tried to be logical about things while his dragon counterpart acted on instinct.
I don't wanna give anything else away, just know there's a complete HEA and it leaves you feeling good. And the dragon has two..... 🍆
If I had to compare it to another book I'd say Elsie Winter's Leviathan's Song. Very cute, low angst, and spicy romance.

When I first started reading this romcom retelling with a monstrous twist, I had never seen the original movie before. At the halfway mark, I was enjoying this book so much that I decided to watch the movie. It was…okay. Honestly, kind of bad. My ideal romcom does not wait until over an hour into the film to have the two love interests come face to face. It had its enjoyable moments, but much of it just seemed preposterous or made me uncomfortable.
But this book? Incredible. Sara Ivy Hill took everything GOOD about There’s Something About Mary and made the cutest, sweetest, most giggling-and-kicking-feet-est monster romcom.
Ted and Mary got hardly any on-screen time together with most of the film focusing on what was keeping them apart. Then, when they finally do come together, they just fit perfectly with no explanation. In Zed and Cari’s case, the reader actually gets to see them come together and start to build a relationship. We watch them bond and fall in love, giving this long term crush way more than a single botched prom date to go off of for all those years apart. I loved that Cari pines just as much for Zed as he does for her during the time gap. This is what a perfect second chance romance is supposed to be!
Mary was the fantasy of a perfect woman. Cari is vivid and dynamic and personable, with her own desires and hopes and dreams. With her own moments of vulnerability. She’s funny and awkward and can ramble on nervously forever. She doesn’t always say the right thing, she isn’t inherently perfect, which makes her special. I loved getting to know her and reading from her perspective!
This book review wasn’t meant to be a critique of the original film, but I loved this book so much that I couldn’t help but highlight the parts that just simply make it BETTER. Moral of the story, if you didn’t like the film (or better yet, if you DID like it), I highly encourage any monster romance enjoyer to still read this book! The main couple is adorable and the shenanigans are hilarious. (Don’t worry, the dog does NOT overdose and then get resuscitated with a broken lamp cord.)

No lie, this book has a lot going on. I mean there are missed connections (to be fair, Cari and Zed were pretty young when they first met and circumstances REALLY worked against them), a stalker, a persistent demon, and, uhh, probably some other stuff that I can't remember at the moment. The point being that Cari and Zed have more than a few obstacles to overcome before they are firmly on the road to happily ever after.
To back up a bit, these two met in high school and Zed was happily obsessed with Cari, but Cari's father was not a great guy and THINGS forced them apart. Fifteen years later a slight misreading of a social media post has Zed reaching out and, as it turns out, Cari is single and kinda pleased to see the dragon she'd never forgotten.
As for Zed, one whiff of Cari when they're adults lets him know that his happy obsession wasn't a fluke. It turns out that Cari is his other half and he's not about to let her go now that he's found her again. Which doesn't mean he doesn't do some boneheaded things. Things like tell a lie or two (mostly so he doesn't look like a stalker, but still) and face off against the demon who's been (not so successfully) trying to woo Cari. Let's just say that Cari has to be a little understanding of Zed's fumblings and move along.
So. A stalker (who is not Zed), a demon who isn't nearly as bad as he could have been, a sweet pupper, a dragon who knows exactly what he has when he gets his second chance, and a lady who is dealing with a lot, but whose heart has always belonged to a certain hunky dragon.

Pretty much read this in one sitting. It was a lot of fun with a little quirky. Honestly when there’s mention of toe play I’m a goner🫠 so to say this book did it for me is an understatement! Seriously chapter 2 & 13 y’all!!!
Zed is quirky and cute all you’d expect from the parody and a bit of flare. He is super sweet and giving but of course slow to letting Cari in. The angst isn’t bad and she is just as jovial and lovable as you’d expect as well. The light touches of these characters that mirrored this RomCom were perfect. Sara added her own touches that wrapped up a story of spicy dragon lovin, including a fully shifted scene for us extra saucy monster lovers!

Zed and Cari have a meet cute in high school. Their first date was a disaster of epic proportions. They lose contact and reconnect 15 years later.
This book is intoxicating. When they finally kissed I was cheering! There’s some super sweet moments, an adorable dog named Radar and just an all round heartwarming romance. Also Zed can half shift - his equipment doubles. Dating a dragon sure has its perks.
As this is a reimagining of a 90s movie, it was predictable yet satisfying. The audio was great especially the voice for Zed’s feral form.

Zed is our hot Dragon Cari is our female. As dragons are he is obsessed and completely devoted to his mate. They were teenagers when they met and it was one of those burn your cheeks embarrassing 😳 times. They separate but meet again as adults. Cari is a brat that you learn to love cause she is also the sweetest of people. She has a stalker she didn’t know about and it isn’t Zed. So this story has a lot going on.

We love our stalker dragon who will do anything for his mate!
There was a lot of drama in this short book with another unnecessary character. Which didn’t help the story forward at all (my opinion).
I wished it would have been a 100% romantic book,
where the main character got to know each other and could talk about their long 15 years apart.
They were so cute together and thought they deserved every awaking second with each other.
3/5 stars.

Zed and Cari’s story warmed my heart. Their backstory, friendship, coming together again was all so sweet.
Cari has such a kind heart and spirit, almost too kind. She’s so trusting and always wants to see the best in others that she leaves herself vulnerable.
Since losing each other when they were barely adults Zed and Cari have been going through the motions trying to create fulfilling lives. How can they without one another?
My heart ached for Zed throughout the book. He knew since they were kids that Cari was the one for him. Then when he swoops back into her life, he struggles to find the balance between his logical mind and feral mind.
I wish we saw more of Zed’s feral side, and I know Cari feels the same.
Tristan really had me tied in knots till the very end, and now I want his story.
I love that Radar was also a main character and never forgotten!!

This was so fun!
It was so addictive, like all of Sara Ivy Hill Dragon books!
Cari and Zed was Perfect together, I love the little key details on some of the scenes because they fit in so well LOL!
I love the obsessiveness these dragons have when they meet their mates and they start the intense watching.
This was so a cool spin on the romcom!
100/10 would recommend!

Omg I loved this book! It had me laughing out loud. Zed is so lovable, Cari is relatable and a total sweetheart, and Radar is the best character ever written (I may be a little biased as a dachshund lover) The writing was great, easy to read and flowed really well. 10/10 for sure!

I’ve been stuck in a deep reading slump for a while, but this quirky story helped me waddle my way out of it. It was lighthearted, fun, and a perfect amount of spice—perfect for a cozy heart-day read. The 'hair gel' scene absolutely took me out—I couldn’t stop laughing! 😆 And Radar? Oh, Radar is an absolute star 🌟.

Theres something about dragons is fated mates, second chance romance following a cute dragon Zed and Cari. We saw the relationship build through the book and the two become just as obsessed with eachother by the end as our boy was from the start!
This book was sweet, funny and quirky and i would read more from this author.

This was a lot of fun! The characters were good, the premise was good, and I really enjoyed the plot and writing.
Issues (and spoilers!!!):
- Kind of found Cari to be gross (sausage grease dripping down her chin and his cum slicking back her hair in public?)
- Some things don't play out the way you'd hope. We barely see Cari confront her stalker (the one she least wants of the three she has, that is). - Kind of found Cari to be gross (sausage grease dripping down her chin and his cum slicking back her hair in public?)
- Some things don't play out the way you'd hope. We barely see Cari confront her stalker (the one she least wants of the three she has, that is). very cute and cheesy
H, a monster and h, a human meet when they are in high school and form a friendship. he invites her to monster prom but when he gets to her place to pick her up, he has an accident involving his zipper and his you know what and ends up in a hospital. she had to move cities, they lose touch and only get to meet 15 years later. i loved the H, he was so cute but the h was a lot dumb and a lot clueless.

Cari is awesome! She’s kind, sweet, fun, understanding and compassionate. Cari is a woman with a heart of gold and always tries to see the best in people (and monsters). Even more, she’s so fierce and lovable. Cari is a wonderful woman and I loved her so, so much!
And Zed is an incredible male! He is so sweet, smart and playful. Even more, Zed is incredibly thoughtful, funny and fiercely protective. And he’s so adorably awkward sometimes! Yes, Zed is also a bit stalkerish, but he can’t help himself when it comes to his mate. This charming dragon is utterly irresistible and I couldn’t help but adore every single thing about him!
I absolutely loved everything that happened between Cari and Zed! They meet as teens and become very good friends and have a crush on each other. And everything is going wonderfully between them until an accident tears them apart. Years later, neither of them has gotten over the other and fate, or maybe Zed’s sweet stalkerish tendencies, give them another chance. I absolutely adored those two together! Their chemistry was fantastic and they were just the cutest together. Even more, I loved their banters, teasing and the adorable awkward situations they found themselves in. There were some rough patches on their way to happiness, but Zed and Cari were truly perfect together and meant for each other. And when they finally gave into the undeniable need, the passionate moments they shared were so hot and I couldn’t get enough. There’s truly something (special and naughty) about dragons!
Overall, There's Something About Dragons is a fun, sweet and naughty story and I absolutely loved every single page of it!
