I received a digital sample of “Wanda E. Brunstetter's Amish Friends Farm-to-Table Cookbook” that will be published in May and feature 280 recipes. My sample just included recipes from the “Dairy” and “Fruit” sections of the cookbook (most of them were desserts), but I really loved the pictures and how they flowed together to show the story of farm-to-table meals.

The bright, crisp pictures that were featured weren’t fussy from a food-styling point of view and looked like the presentation I would expect if I was joining friends for a meal: simple, clean, and presented with love.

This being an Amish cookbook, I really enjoyed all of the made-from-scratch recipes like basic yogurt, cottage cheese, homemade butter, and apple dumplings. The ingredient lists were short, and the instructions were easy to follow – both of which were big wins for me!

My main complaint was the lack of photos for every recipe. Maybe more photos will be added to the full cookbook by the time it is published, but several recipes were put together on pages without pictures. Also, I was concerned to not find the serving sizes in my sample. If I’m going to take the time to make something, I want to know how many servings the recipe has just in case I need to adjust. Again, I’m hoping this is remedied before publication.

Overall, the sample I received intrigued me to want to see more of this cookbook once it’s published. Anyone wanting to learn how to make farm-to-table meals and desserts will enjoy this cookbook.

Thank you to NetGalley, Barbour Publishing, and Barbour Books for the opportunity to read an advanced digital sample of this cookbook for an honest review.

The Amish Friends Farm-to-Table Cookbook by author Wanda E. Brunstetter has recipes from Amish and Mennonite cooks. These recipes use fresh foods from their own gardens and farms or from their local markets. I enjoyed it very much and found many recipes to try.

The book includes a multitude of colorful photos as well as tips for growing, harvesting, and preserving. Scripture is throughout on each divider section page. There are 280 recipes divided into sections: dairy; fruits; grains, nuts, and seeds; meat and eggs; and vegetables and herbs. I seldom see a cookbook with a section for grains, nuts, and seeds or that includes herbs in with the vegetables. The cookbook is designed with a spiral binding to lay flat on a counter for ease in reading while cooking. Some recipes of note for me were Herbed Oatmeal Pan Bread, Apple Dumplings, Strawberry Soup, and Fresh Tomato Salsa.

I highly recommend this interesting and educational cookbook. There is much to be gleaned from it. This is a nice addition to my cookbook collection and would be for yours, too. I give this cookbook a 5 star rating. A copy was provided by Barbour Publishing, but these are my honest thoughts.

Amish Friends Farm-to-Table Cookbook is a beautiful collection of fresh recipes that will delight your whole family! Wanda E. Brunstetter sets apart different sections of the book for different foods including dairy and fruit. The recipes are short and sweet - you don't need a lot of extra ingredients and there are not hours of steps to complete. Want to make homemade cottage cheese? You only need milk, vinegar, salt, and cream!

This cookbook feels much more accessible in terms of making realistic recipes than other farm-to-table books I've read. There are gorgeous pictures throughout, as well as pertinent bible verses and Amish saying that make the book both aesthetically pleasing and cozy! I look forward to seeing a full copy of this cookbook and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to make fresh and healthy recipes where they can feel good about what they're eating.

Thank you to NetGalley, Barbour Publishing, Barbour Books, and the author Wanda E. Brunstetter for an ARC of Amish Friends Farm-to-Table Cookbook in exchange for an honest review!

"Eat an apple, save the core, plant the seeds and raise some more." - Amish saying
The newest compilation, Wanda E. Brunstetter's Amish Friends Farm-To-Table Cookbook: 280 amazing Recipes Help Encourage Local Farming Networks has to be a labor of love. The beautiful book adds to her series of excellent Amish cookbooks.
I received an e-copy of a portion of the book from the author and Barbour Publishing through NetGalley. The copy features the Dairy and Fruit sections of the book. There are also beautiful photos representing the Amish, farm products and recipes. This is my own unsolicited opinion about this new cookbook.
The Fruit section shares pies, cakes, muffins and more. The Raspberry Cream Pops caught my eye with a colorful photo. I want to try this recipe for my grandchildren. Other fruit can be substituted which makes it versatile.
The Dairy portion includes homemade butter, ice cream, custards and tips on cheese making with more recipes.
This is an excellent project that helps promote the foods and products that you can find at your local farms and markets.

I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review.
I am a huge cookbook fan and have several books so was excited to get a sample of this as I always enjoy cookbooks about Amish recipes. The photography is beautiful in this book. I wish there was more pictures of the recipes. All the recipes sounded amazing and would love to try making them myself. I just found that some of the instructions for the recipes were a little lacking. I wish there was more explanation for some of the methods of cooking as a lot of the recipes are things I have never made myself. I consider myself to be a good cook and can follow most any recipe but the way some were written I don't know if I would be able to successfully execute the recipe. I was especially interested in some cheese making and butter making. I think with more research I would be able to make the recipes.

Wanda Brunstetter always brings her A game when it comes to her cookbooks. The Farm-to-Table cookbook offers mouth-watering recipes from Amish and Mennonite cooks using fresh foods from their own garden/farm or from their local area. The recipes bring me back to my childhood where I grew up on an Iowa family farm. We would process our own pigs, cattle, chicken, ducks and gather produce from the fruit trees and garden. This cookbook is bound so that it lays flat, which is so helpful in the kitchen. There are plenty of colorful photos and tips for growing, harvesting, and preserving. The recipes are divided into sections: dairy; fruits; grains, nuts, and seeds; meat and eggs; and vegetables and herbs. The recipes I’ve tried thus far are wonderful and I look forward to trying more. I highly recommend this cookbook.

Another great cookbook by my favorite author, Wanda E. Brunstetter entitled, "Amish Friends Farm-To-Table Cookbook." The best thing about her cookbooks is that there are recipes from Amish women all over the United States. They are great to follow and easy to understand. I am anxious to try some of the rhubarb recipes. Her cookbooks all have a different theme, and I love reading through them. As the gardens start to produce fruits and vegetables, this is a great cookbook for finding recipes to use fresh new fruits and vegetables. I highly recommend this great cookbook!!
