Augustus Berrycloth-Young is travelling to New York aboard the RMS Aquitania, when he is asked by the captain to dispose of a ghost in one of the second-class cabins.
Ben Aaronovitch's career started with a bang writing for Doctor Who, subsided in the middle and then, as is traditional, a third act resurgence with the bestselling Rivers of London series.
Born and raised in London he says that he'll leave his home when they prise his city out of his cold dead fingers.
Another short Rivers of London moment, this one starring Augustus Berrycloth-Young of The Masquerades of Spring fame. Gussie is one of my favorite characters from the series, so naturally this moment is one of my favorite moments. There are no talking foxes (boo!), but I suppose I'll give that a pass this time considering the story takes place on a ship. I can't imagine ocean liners are a preferred habitat for foxes, talking or not.
Berrycloth-Young has run afoul of The Folly and is fleeing to New York aboard the RMS Aquitania, and the ship's captain has one small request: there's a ghost haunting one of the second-class cabins and can he please remove it post-haste? What follows is a short but amusing tale in which Gussie handles the ghost problem in a very Gussie sort of way.
This is definitely one of the more fleshed out moments that I've read so far and I enjoyed it tremendously. It can be read for free here: https://mailchi.mp/cd112e0274e9/winte....
Augustus (Gussie) Berrycloth-Young is fleeing to New York aboard the RMS Aquitania. The ship's captain requests his presence and has one small request - he believes there is a ghost in one of the second class cabins, and he wants Gussie to get rid of it pronto! A fun little read. Thanks Jamie for the link. Here is that link! https://mailchi.mp/cd112e0274e9/winte...
A "moment" with Augustus Berrycloth-Young onboard a ship on his way to America. There he meets Mabel, a ghost. Precedes the novel The Masquerades of Spring.
I absolutely loved it! The short stories are awesome! I hope a Vol 2 will be in the works sometime in the future! This is a must read series! I can’t wait for the next stories!
