Rate this book
It’s tough growing up in the spotlight and Freya Easter has had to do just that, being part of the Conor family, who are Hollywood acting royalty, has meant that every aspect of her family’s life has been played out in the spotlight. Despite her own fame Freya has managed to keep one aspect of her life out of the public eye, however, a new job on hit show Front Line and a storyline that pairs her with the gorgeous Jordan Ellis, may mean that Freya’s secret is about to come out.

In a world of glitz and glamor, Jordan Ellis has come to the conclusion that all that glitters is not gold. She has become disillusioned with relationships and is longing for a deeper connection, and is surprised when it comes in the form of the most unexpected package.

Whilst their on screen counterparts begin a romantic journey, Freya and Jordan find themselves on a similar pathway.

Loved it !! Well, I’m always a sucker when it comes to Hollywood or Celebrity romance... There hasn’t been any that I didn’t like... So no prizes there when I openly declared that I loved Stars Collide... You have all the usual suspect or cliche in SC.... Closeted actress, 1st foray in a same-sex relationship, surviving a long distance relationship, loads of misunderstanding & assumptions and of course gorgeous MCs, Freya and Jordan..

And I really adored the supporting characters, Dan and Jackson.... a few scenes/dialogues stayed with me and when I played it in my head, can’t help but chuckled....

One of my favorite tropes is the celebrity romance (throw in a toaster oven and I'm all set!) so I had high hopes for this book. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting the same caliber as And Playing the Role of Herself or Breaking Character, but I wanted the same magic I read in Munro's Mutual Benefits!

This got close - witty dialogue was peppered throughout the book between two very likeable and warm characters - Freya and Jordan. I loved reading the build up of their relationship and the first half of the book was really enjoyable. But I was surprised with the outcome of the relationship as it only focused on the consequences for Freya and seemed to completely gloss over Jordan's public experience of it... and the secondary characters (apart from best friend Dan) were virtually non-existant - what happened to Freya's parents and Jordan's best friend Sabrina in the second half of the book?! Also, even though I have absolutely no experience in the entertainment industry, the description of events around the relationship being exposed and consequences of it seemed unreal in parts...

In any case, there was angst starting around the 70% mark and it kept me interested to the end - I was hurting damnit, and wanted to get my HEA (which I did :))! Some slight hiccups with the editing/grammar - one of my pet peeves is when one MC's physical attritubtes gets mixed up with the other MC's and you end up talking to the book explaining it got it all wrong. Is that just me?

This is my first book by H. P. Munro, and I’ve got to say I’m impressed. I’ll definitely check out her other work.

The story centers around two actresses working together on a medical military drama. The attraction between them is evident and the build up is one of the better ones I’ve read. Munro really managed to convince me that they’re meant for each other and I was rooting for them all the way. I also really enjoyed the supporting characters, especially Anna. God she made me crack up! I caught myself grinning quite often and even laughing out loud at times. No worries thought, it still had an appropriate amount of angst while keeping it just light enough. All around just a solid book. You should read it if you haven’t already.

I’ve seen some other reviews comparing “Stars Collide” to “And playing the role of herself”. This is a fair comparison as it does have a similar plot, however I really loved the parts that were completely different. I won’t say much more, but for one, both characters were incredibly likable.

What excites me now is that Munro left a bit of an opening to write another book in the same universe. I for one would absolutely love to see Sabrina as a lead. Fingers crossed we’ll get one!

I did not realize this until I read this book, but when “stars collide” you die or boredom.

DNF around 60%. I forgot I started this last year and then stopped reading it and now I picked it up again only to discover I'm already in the second half of the book yet I don't remember anything about it. It simply didn't hold my interest so I'll leave it at 2 stars. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't good for me either.

A romance that hit the sweet spot for me (mostly). Really enjoyed these characters, and the flow of the story, the setting, and the ending.

I found it was rather difficult to put the book down as I revelled in these two leads. I love reading about people living vastly different lives to anything I know, so it's great to read stuff like this when the characters are fully rounded, interesting and likable.

I won't enthuse too much about the way this author uses dialog, but it's a pretty difficult task to have characters sound realistic, and often funny, without it coming off as forced or awkward. There's some nice witty banter without it being cringey. Good stuff. Made me just adore these characters, especially Freya.

Unfortunately, again with this author I noticed problems with typos, misplaced or mixed up words, the over use of some actions, and 'the blonde' and 'the brunette' trap. Normally it would irk the heck out of me, but the rest of the story and writing does go a long way to make up for those flaws. It might be a good idea for the author to have a couple of people read through the stories first before publishing, though this book is quite an improvement in that aspect on the last one I read - Grace Falls.

A 4.5 star book for me (rounded up to 5), though there was just a bit too much of the gay best friend, not quite enough heat and passion (despite the very sweet romance, and the obvious chemistry between the leads), and those editing issues are a bit of a bugger.

Still, some very memorable scenes in this book, and have I mentioned that I adored Freya and Jordan? I'll be reading this one a few more times, I have no doubt.

A-MAY-ZING!

Wow, this is one of those books that you know you will able to re-read time and again and probably love it even more with each read.
Gorgeous character development, with a plot that has great cadence and evolution throughout.
I shall definitely be looking up more by this author.

Let me start this off with 7 letters and a symbol... LOVED IT!

Was the book perfect? No. Was it addictive? You bet it was!

I stayed up reading most of the night even though I kept telling myself "only one more chapter". I just couldn't put it down and had to keep going until I was finished. I just had to! :-)

The leading ladies had the right amount of chemistry, the supporting characters were wonderful and oh so funny, especially Freya's grandmother, Anna. I had more than one 'laugh out loud' moment while reading this book.

Stars Collide was the third book I've read by H.P. Munro and I think it's her best to date. I look forward to reading future books from this author.

This has been on my TBR for ages so I was happy to finally find the time to tuck in. It was a fun, light read, a formula of celebrity closeted lesbian coming out that has been done before. However seen as though this was written in 2014, I suppose Ms. Munro may have been at the beginning of that bandwagon. Either way, I like a good celebrity romance, it's so far beyond my reality that my brain goes on a full-on vacation when reading about 'em.

I liked the two MCs, Freya and Jordan, just fine, as they were warm and friendly and can we just saw "Hi Dan Levy" as Dan-the-best-friend in any movie version? There were some laugh out loud moments that usually involved the best friend. However there were some holes. I would have liked more exposure of Jordan's experience of coming out with her first ever girlfriend after dating guys exclusively, but it's fogged over in favour of only highlighting Freya's negative experience. This would have added a lot of depth to Jordan's character. The fire cracker that is Anna, Freya's grandmother, didn't get quite as much play as I'd like, nor Freya's super famous parents. And some parts dragged, the dialogue becoming stiff and disjointed. Even the first few pages are jarring, the flow just didn't make sense and I had to re-read it three times. Not a great start, but I persevered.

The romance is nice and lovely, I considered it more sweet than super firey, but maybe my lesfic reading has just evolved and I'm desensitized, haha.

The fastest 8 hours of my life.
I’ve been looking forward to this book since I saw the cover and read the blurb a month ago. Not only did it meet my expectations it highly exceeded them. There aren’t many books that I have a hard time putting down for breaks but this one defiantly qualified. I tried to stop reading at the half way point because I knew I would be mad at myself for finishing it in one day but I just couldn’t. I even woke up thinking about the characters from the book (which for me is a sign I really like it). I would love to see a sequel or even a short follow up story in the future.

3.75 - celebrity - fauxmance adjacent - enjoyable read

Hands down this book has the best depiction of a gay best friend I have ever read. Their interaction are great and funny. Both MC's are likable. I really enjoyed the story. The reason of the angst is a little "really?" and imo it took them too long to get back together but all in all I really liked this book and might even read it again some time.

It's a nice enough lesfic following the same story of playing the role of herself, with two women dealing with their attraction and how their sexuality might affect their careers, as well as how their careers affect their relationship. It's a quick read but i feel like something is missing.

Jordan Ellis and Freya Easter are both interesting and likable. The latter part of the read was too long and redundant. In general, enjoyed the story line. Finding your place in tinsel town as well as someone to love can be a daunting challenge. I also enjoyed the supporting characters especially Freya's grandmother. She had me laughing outloud.

The setting for this story takes place mostly in Los Angeles but the phrasing is distinctly British and at times difficult to understand what is being said. I did, however, enjoy the story very much.

Well, if this isn't almost a carbon copy of And Playing the Role of Herself, then I don't know what is. Everything is there: the high-rated TV series, the new actress that has a crush on the lead since she first saw her, the new actress is a lesbian who isn't out, a kiss on prime time and I could go on, as so far as Freya ends up driving the same car as Caidence.

But it was a genuinely funny read, the secondary characters are very funny, and it has a grandma who inadvertently steals the show by standing up for Freya by confusing explosive devices with contraception, on national TV no less.

In my opinion, it could have done with about 15 chapters less at the end. The author tries to convey the pitfalls of a long distance relationship, but she does not succeed in that, because it got really old real fast with the constant will they/won't they, before we get to the HEA that was a given anyway.

Until then, it's a lot of fun.

I've been in a bit of a reading slump lately. Nothing is really clicking completely for me. So I kind of think I might have liked this book better if I had read it at a different time, but it was still an enjoyable, if somewhat predictable love story. It just felt a little too much like books I have already read.

A nice read, though I wish the author would introduce the main couple more to their family. I don't like the time skipping either, it's abrupt, and before I know it, 6 months already over with no continuation of the previous events from the last chapter.
While Freya and Jordan have nice chemistry together, their romance struggles are typical, and often time, it's frustrating for me.

A lot of their feelings and loves toward one another were being observed by Dan and Jackson, I wish Dan and Jackson could tell the main couple how miserable they are after their broke up. Instead, it was never disclose.
Still, I did enjoyed this story. It has a similar vibe from another novels like Waiting in the Wings or And Playing the Role of Herself, but this story is good in its own way- especially the many funny dialogues and comical moments, and the angst is huge by itself.

I love Freya when she tells everyone that that she'll hang her award in the bathroom- right after she receives said award. I mean...who does that?

Super fun read! I happily and wholeheartedly give it a 5.

The story and the characters were zooming between sweet, hilarious, adorable, heartwarming, and borderline crazy. Hormones were definitely flung around some chapters.

Our clumsy Egg and her beloved onesie. Jordan and her 200 Oranges. Dan and The Wig. Anna's death by slip up during her outburst. Jackson the Hopeless Romantic. Sabrina and her diverse knowledge of kitchen stuff. Oh, how could I forget that Dollhausen fan, the old lady in DeLucca's... :D

This book gave me feels which were almost, I repeat almost, as good as when I'm stuffing my face silly with my favourite sweets. That's high praise coming from me.

Not sure what's up with my reading of all this Hollywood-themed lesfic lately.

I enjoyed the first half a lot, the characters were fun to hang out with down to the secondary ones. But the second half was just way longer than necessary, too much back and forth for my taste, especially knowing the outcome of romance novels. The short micro-chapters for that part of their lives didn't work for at all and I was bored.

3,5 stars. I loved the humor, Dan, Jackson and Anna. For me the part after they broke up was the best part because I ‘felt’ the tears and the emotion. And I loved the fact that Jackson and Dan were at their aid. But when they got back together after The song Jordan sang, it felt to rushed. One moment they were finally saying to eachother that they loved eachother and a bit of kissing and one minute later they joined Jackson and Dan again. No...that could have been written much better!
I also wanted to feel more chemistry between Jordan and Freya. More secret eye contact, small touches, nicknames or baby or something. And probably for me it might have been a better book if Jordan and Freya were between the ages of 22 to 27 instead of mid thirty. The way they acted/talked sometimes was not mid thirty behaviour.

This book looks a lot like the very much better And playing the role of herself and also had a bit of Waiting in the Wings in it which is also much better. So I would recommend those instead of this one.

A reread multiple times since I got it in 2014! I love this book (in all honesty love all Munro’s books) and even after all this time I find myself giggling out loud at some of the lines. The secondary characters as as entertaining as the mains but don’t overshadow them. This is a fabulous light, frothy and well paced romance. I might have given it four stars but for a book to be as enjoyable after multiple rereads over a decade, and one that randomly pops in to my head or I just need a light well written book, it is a 5 from me.

I really enjoyed this and I am so thankful to a few reviewers I follow to rate this so highly - it was the reason I picked it up :)

I think this was also one of the better lesfics that had developed side characters that really added to the storyline. Looking forward to reading more from H.P. Munro.
