Liked it for it’s plot, pacing and setting. As for the rest I was hoping for more western and less romance - a lot less romance. At 180 pages it flew by but the underlying theme wasn’t believable, nor what I expected.

This one grew on me by the end, but there is way too much of the "adult" in this one and not enough Western. Mr. Fargo sure gets around in this book. The writing is good and it is a quick read. I read a few others in this series when I was younger and not much into Westerns. I gave away a bunch of these and some Gunsmith and Longarm books thinking I would never read this kind of stuff, but I find that some of them have some good writing in them, and they are quick reads and some authors I like have contributed to these series over the years. The Signet Trailsman books also have nice covers and a pleasing book design, and I like collecting pulp series paperbacks.

To help satisfy my curiosity on the most popular adult westerns I'd already read the first Longarm and Gunsmith books and picked this one up to complete the "big three." I found it mostly enjoyable but not as much as the other two. In comparison, the Trailsman was more serious and a little more grim.  Spoiler alert: the climatic ending especially had a lot of innocent women and children dying that I wasn't fully expecting. I assume the tone may have lightened some over time and I'll probably read some later titles to find out.

10/10 do not recommend.
I bought this book on a whim from a used bookstore because I was curious to see what a mass market paperback western was like. I don't know if the writing was just awful or if the genre's simply not for me, but I didn't really like this book. It did have a juicy plot twist, but other than that, I was pretty disappointed. However, this is not stopping me from looking into some other Westerns.

I didn't care for this very much. There was a plot here, but Sharpe didn't really do much with it that was very interesting. Also, this had so much sex that it was more porn than Western.
