Guided: The Secret Path to an Illuminated Life

Rate this book
The renowned psychic medium and New York Times bestselling author of Signs explains how our loved ones who have passed continue to communicate with us, steering us to discover our purpose and create lives of meaning, connection, and love.

Who am I, really? Why am I here? How can I endure this grief?

According to Laura Lynne Jackson, to answer these questions is to live an “illuminated life.”

Jackson knows that her psychic gifts are not unique to her. She believes that everyone is capable of perceiving energy, identifying, and interpreting messages sent to us by the Other Side. In Guided, Jackson shows that our loved ones who have passed form our Teams of Light, and that they never stop sharing their wisdom with us. By embracing the connections they reveal, we are put on a path to our best life--a life that Jackson calls illuminated.

An illuminated life is one characterized by connectedness and creativity. It is one of alignment with purpose. It is a life of peace and confidence. And it is a life every one of us can discover for ourselves, if only we are open to the guidance that is sent our way.

In Guided, Jackson shares the unforgettable and moving experiences of regular people who have learned how to respond to the messages sent to them by their Teams of Light in order to discover their higher paths. Offering solace and comfort though times of grief, and chockfull of inspiring, motivating stories, Guided points the way toward an illuminated life for us all.

I’m not sure why but I didn’t like this book as much as her other two. Packed full of stories, and she is a beautiful story teller. I just felt like the weaving the stories together to tie back to her main point was not as strong. I got kind of burnt out with the story after story. I felt it weakened her arguments in a way, almost like an attempt to present data point after data point to prove a thesis, but since it was all anecdotal and there was discussion/analysis missing, it just didn’t feel as impactful. I felt her other books had more to offer by way of helpful mindset shifts. There’s also the fact that I’m in a different place with my grief than when I read her other books, so I just may not find her messages as resonant at this time.

I love LLJ and really wanted to love this book like her others, but it was just missing her usual moving stories! Every story in this book ended with a promotion of someone’s podcast, workshop, social media, or artwork. It made the stories less impactful & powerful. I was really disappointed by that and the constant mention of her workshops at the Omega Institute. It all just felt a little insincere, unfortunately.

I didn't like it as much as I liked her other books. This one felt more like medical research type of writing, but perhaps that was the goal for it. I just see a Laura book and I'm reading without seeing what it's about.
I still love the way Laura's books leave me feeling. There were aspects of "Signs" in the book and that really was my favorite part. These books just leave me feeling so happy and at peace with my grief. I recommend them to everyone experiencing loss. I've learned so much and, because of Laura, I now can still have a strong (if not stronger) connection with my passed loved ones.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This felt like a warm, reassuring nudge from the universe. Laura Lynne Jackson takes big, spiritual concepts and makes them feel accessible, comforting, and full of hope. Her stories about connecting with our “Teams of Light” are both emotional and grounding, offering the kind of peace you can actually carry with you.

This book reminded me how supported and connected we really are, and how signs and synchronicities can shape our lives in the most meaningful ways. A beautiful, uplifting read for anyone craving clarity, comfort, or a deeper sense of purpose.

A couple good nuggets but just a lot of stories. Call me a skeptic but a lot of them felt coincidental.

This was my first introduction to Laura Lynne Jackson’s works and I look forward to reading more! For some reason, I get the impression that I would like her other books more than this one, but this was a great read! Big concepts made to feel accessible and tugging at the heartstrings in ways that make the synchronicities unforgettable. A good deal of this book references the author’s previous work, Signs, which may be why I think that one could hold some value. The anecdotal style was fun and accessible, keeping things interesting. I could tell the author knew a lot about their field and at times it was beyond me, but made me interested to read more.

I feel like so neutral on this, and probably just because I’m not the audience. I already believe in the woo woo so the stories aren’t blowing my mind or convincing me of anything

Sometimes books enter your life at the perfect time.

On the doorstep of change, leaving you astonished by how closely it mirrors your own personal reality. At such a moment, a quiet trust and inner knowing is born. One that feels true at your very core. You begin to read not only with your eyes, but with your heart. The journey of who you become with such a book, this feels magical.

It’s left me humbled, filled with a childlike sense of wonder, deeply aware of how blessed my life truly is.

Like her previous works, Laura Lynne Jackson has a beautiful gift for creating books that are inspiring, enlightening, and deeply comforting. Each page feels like a safe space, offering reassurance and calm. It’s the perfect gentle introduction to spirituality for anyone beginning to explore their own beliefs.

“Guided” leans heavily on anecdotal evidence, which I imagine will resonate with more skeptical readers. For me, I already aligned with the book’s premise, I found myself wanting a bit more depth beyond the stories.

Beautiful, simple, fairly basic, but a good gift for a loved one struggling with loss/in the grieving process, or for yourself if grieving. Great reminders about our interconnectedness to nature and the mysteries of the universe that surround us, if only we stay open to our inner voice and second sight, along with the urging and assistance of the cosmos.

I had high hopes for this book and came in feeling open. However, so many things that were called signs truly seemed like coincidences or people simply wanting to find a sign, making meaning out of things erroneously. Stopped halfway through.

4.5 stars!

I really loved this book. After reading all three of Laura Lynne Jackson’s works, I continue to be amazed by the steadiness and compassion she brings to conversations about grief, connection, and the unseen threads that bind us. Guided reminded me in many ways of her first book, Signs, with its focus on personal stories of people reconnecting with loved ones who have crossed over. The inclusion of stories about animals who had passed surprised me in the best way, adding a beautiful tenderness and dimension to the idea that love exists across every form of life.

What I appreciate most about Jackson is her ability to write with warmth and presence. Her voice feels like a hand on your shoulder, reminding you to look for meaning in small moments, to trust your intuition, and to stay open to the invisible support around you. While I still feel most drawn to her second book, The Light Between Us, because it offers such an intimate look into her own psychic process, this book carries its own powerful sense of reassurance. It focuses more on the experiences of others and the many ways signs show up in their lives, which gives the book a spacious, community feel.

All of Jackson’s books offer comfort, but each one holds a different kind of solace. If I were ranking them, it would be by how soothed I felt in the reading rather than how much I enjoyed them, and Guided certainly brought a deep sense of peace. It is a hopeful, gentle, and heart-expanding read for anyone curious about the continued presence of loved ones, or anyone searching for meaning in their own moments of connection.

To be honest, I don’t have a long thoughtful review to write, not sure how I could put all my thoughts into coherent words that fully capture how good this book was, but this quote sums it all up.

Favorite quote: “Living an illuminated life does not mean living a life free of grief. It means that you live vibrantly even in the face of grief, in doing so you honor the love that was their shining through your grief”

I only rated this at 4 stars because I read Signs first & it affected me so immensely that it's impossible to live up to that. I receive signs & messages from my angels every single day & I just love how Laura Lynne Jackson continues to share these stories if love, light & continued connection.

Just didn’t enjoy as much as I’ve liked some of her other books. Somehow it felt a little too promotional or more like a research essay from high school.

Laura Lynne Jackson has written a beautifully insightful book about how we are guided by light and energy on the other side. Not so much a “how-to” but more a “be aware” message, this collection of information, stories, and insight leaves you feeling hopeful about that which we cannot always see.

I really loved this book. It really echoes my mom’s beliefs about the universe and how much control we have over our outcomes.

I love all the personal stories about different signs people have received. This book really allowed me to reflect on all the beautiful signs my dad had sent since he left, January 2024.

I enjoyed the poetry and beautiful quotes scattered throughout. They were inspiring and perfectly placed.

I can’t wait to read her other books.

She’s back with a new book!

Laura Lynne Jackson, author of “Signs” and “The Light Between Us” has produced a comprehensive guide with tips on healing the body, support with grief and living a fulfilling life. She touches on various topics including: numerology, dreams, environmental influences, empaths, importance of art, nature, science and the power of thoughts.

She is a psychic medium and it would be like winning the lottery to get a reading with her. Yet, she offers readers an unconventional approach to healthy living with her personal thoughts backed up with true stories and reports. The book also includes quotes and poems between chapters – many you’ll want to highlight.

Some of the chapters are a reminder with much we know already: to eat healthy, get a good night sleep and watch for messages sent by a loved one that has passed. However, this is a well-written resource that reconnects us to what’s important in our life for our health and spiritual growth.

People need a great deal of support to get through these complex times and this has pages of inspiration not found in other places. It would also make a great gift.

My thanks to The Dial Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book with an expected release date of November 11, 2025.
