YOU ARE WORTH IT. YOU ARE WORTH LOVING.Juniper Walden was shocked when she went from a Beta to an Omega in the blink of an eye. After meeting Seth, Bennett, Theo, and Arin, she finds herself spending her first heat safely and securely in their care.

After the heat, her new life is full of change and uncertainty as she navigates four new relationships, sudden career highs, and rocky confrontations with family. Seth and Bennett would do anything for her, Theo has his own reservations about designation politics, and Arin just wants to make sure June's future with the pack is anxiety-free. As strange occurrences begin to pile up, that becomes easier said than done.

In the Golden Omegaverse, Omegas and their golden-hued blood are a rare treasure in a world that seeks to control and own them. And some alphas will go to any length to have an omega to call their own.

GOLD MINE is book two in a why choose (MMMMF) omegaverse duology set in the Golden Omegaverse. Part Two delivers June's happily ever after with her pack.

Disappointing book two

I really enjoyed the first book and was so looking forward to this one but it just fell flat. The pack are cute and as with omegaverse things move quickly however there seemed to be no oomph or draw to the storyline. There seemed to be a lot of unnecessary details and the important parts felt rushed through.

The chemistry between the characters also seemed to fizzle out in this book. In book one there was tension and magnetism. With book two it’s all “bam we’re in love and now we just click” and the chemistry just petered out.

I really had a hard time finishing the book. And while I’m glad I did get to see the packs HEA, it didn’t make up for the rest of the book.

This is such a great debut! I was instantly on June’s side. She was completely overwhelmed with her new reality but was smart & practical while listening to her instincts. I loved all the MMCs and their page time was equitable. There were conflicts & hurdles to overcome, but everyone kept their promise of working through it together. I found the sex scenes to be creative and very hot. You should absolutely get the bonus novella.

This book had everything I love in an Omegaverse:
a pack full of love, spice, and emotional growth, a child-free HEA that I cheered for, and characters who supported each other through healing and self-discovery.

Theo absolutely shined in this one—grumpy, but soft where it counts.
Seth? Still my Roman Empire.
And the pack dynamic? So distinct, so well-balanced, and full of heart. 10/10.

It’s steamy. It’s sweet. It’s comforting.
A story about choosing your people, facing your fears, and building the future you deserve.

I’m officially obsessed. R.L. Randolph, you’ve got me for life.

TW - ableism / chronic Illness (omegas are predisposed to chronic conditions and the world treats them as lesser for this), panic attack, anxiety, alcohol consumption, biphobia + homophobia + anti-polyamory (scs incl family), blood, body shaming, emotional abuse, sex shaming, fatphobia, eating disorder (past, incl unsupportive family), religious bigotry (family), stalking and tracking, kidnapping, use of medical equipment (incl sharp objects, cutting, blood), toxic relationship, parental abandonment, abortion + pregnancy (discussions of the right to choose, sc mentioned as being pregnant), domestic abuse of a sc (recounted incl marriage at 17y/o, resulting in trauma for a MMC), emergency hysterectomy (past, sc, mentioned incl near death experience), drugging of the FMC, gun violence, murder, misogyny, sexism, nausea, verbal abuse (from family), threat of birth control tampering from a sc, going no contact with parents

CW - DP, DVP, voyeurism, exhibitionism, fisting, biting, spanking, toys, light degradation, edging, hand necklace

Tropes - possessive, omegaverse, rich MMCs, author FMC, fated mates, why choose

Representation -polyam - MMMMF

Unfortunately, I found this book to be... boring. See sporadic thoughts below

❗️"One alpha, one beta, one omega — how it should be, how it should always be." This is a weird thing to say when you're in a MMMMF / AAABO pack...

❗️The smut was good. Like it wasn't boring. But all the build up to the heat in book 1 kinda feels meh because, for a contemporary omegaverse, an omega going into heat isn’t a major plot development it’s just a fact of life, there is only so much build up you can do before it becomes annoying.

❗️I felt like the established relationships in the pack before the addition of the FMC were being diminished and it really pisses me off when this happens in a why choose. Seth (MMC) and Bennett (MMC) are BONDED - how does saying This house wasn’t a home until she moved in. June being here has brought a different kind of light and joy to the house. Sometimes I wonder how the four of us existed before her. Sure, Seth and I have a sincere love for each other, but oftentimes it felt like we were just roommates with Arin and Theo. Four people, each with separate lives that occasionally crossed paths for dinners or the rare moment we all happened to be home together. even make sense given that context? The four of them were a pack before her???? This irritated me.

❗️Seth saying he wishes he was an alpha so he could bite her and everyone would know she’s his is strange to me because his whole brand is that he’s the unwavering beta

❗️June (FMC) and Theo (MMC) are night and day with the last book. I would’ve liked to see the character development go gradually to actually see them talking more and putting the work in more than the one conversation, the sex and the new room. It felt very abrupt to me.

❗️June's messages from her mum no longer being muted is weird and a flimsy plot line that could’ve easily been rectified by the mum texting from a different number. Her subsequently only wanting Arin’s (MMC) bond right then so she’s not taken away makes me sad for him. It felt like, to me, June was just wanting to use him to get out of her own shitty situation; I was glad he denied her that.

❗️Seth still having significant secrets about his life at the 80% mark of book 2 is weird and I laughed when we found out about what his past entailed because, get real.

❗️The conflict was weird and, again, flimsy, because the stalker aspect I don't feel like was built up enough nor was it on page enough for it to be convincing. There were a few other avenues for the presence of a stalker that I thought would have made so much more sense - the alpha June's parents wanted her to meet or even Seth's cousin would have made more sense and would have been more interesting than what we got.

❗️The pack felt disjointed - it was giving more MMFMM than MMMMF

❗️This was meant to be diverse but the MMCs aren’t described enough, if at all, so for Bennett to be Black, Arin to be Indian and Seth to be Jewish made no difference to the outcome of this book. Arin being Indian was mentioned by one of his siblings. I knew Seth was Jewish because it’s on her insta and maybe mentioned in passing in book 2. It probably wasn't the intention, but it felt like it was thrown in as token diversity.

Scale:
⭐️ - would've DNF'ed / continued out of spite
⭐️⭐️ - shit, but whatever
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - meh, could've been better
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - lit 👅
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - loved it, inject this shit into my veins 🤪

🫑 - no smut
🌶 - no point
🌶🌶 - mediocre at best
🌶🌶🌶 - standard smut, hot
🌶🌶🌶🌶 - 🥵 okay, some CW

This was a sweet second part compared to the fairly angsty first book. Theo had great character development and made up for his grumpiness. Seth and Bennett continued to be amazing mates. Surprisingly, the tension came from Arin, but once it ironed out, June had gained an amazing pack and they a wonderful omega. If you're looking for something that doesn't count on pregnancy and children for the HEA, you've found it. They focus on their future together without extending their family in that way. The relationships are front and center to the main plot with lots of bonding and great communication. This duet makes a good comfort read.

Side note: I don't think the stalker bit was necessary. It had barely been a thing throughout, and I honestly forgot about it. The resolution came swiftly, and I don't feel it added much to the story.

This was… baaaad 🫥

I don’t like leaving negative reviews but this was just not it.. It was so boring for 80% and then it just got bad.

That “twist” came completely out of left field and not in a good way. Also wtf was that weird mob thing, that was so random??

The cliff of Gold Rush was steep, but the payoff was so worth it!!

This was a book of healing and building a family and pack of June's own. Even though they've been through a heat together the pack still has so much to overcome to build a future together. And that's why overall, this is a story about confronting your fears, and the people who would tear you down, to build the future you want and deserve.

I loved every relationship that gets built in the pack. They are all such distinct characters and personalities and they each contribute to building an amazing pack dynamic. I loved all the pack and what they brought to June's life and the support they gave ach other. But in this book Theo's support especially resonated with me in the way he dealt with June's doubts about her own self-worth.

This book had everything I absolutely love in an OV. A well balanced pack, a group of people who love each other and make a whole greater than their sum, and lots of steamy, spicy times! RL Randolph is quickly becoming one of my favourite OV writers!

Omegaverse/RH 3 Alphas; 1 Beta and 1 FC Omega/Fated Mates/Multi PoV

SYNOPSIS (Duet): This story is set in the Omegaverse, one where omega rights are reduced and they are treated as only fit to have babies and not to hold jobs or go to university. It’s not a dark Omegaverse however but somewhere in between dark and light. The FC, Juniper, has been a beta her whole life brought up by parents whose whole focus is the facilitation of classic Alpha/Omega pairings but who are anti pack. Whilst on a book tour to promote her most recent book Juniper emerges as an Omega and one on the verge of her first heat. At the age of 25 this is the oldest of any known omega so she doesn’t fit into the system and the expectations of the omega designation centre. She is kept confined at the Designation Centre and not allowed to leave. The DC try to find alphas for her but all she is offered are unsuitable as she is deemed to be too old to be of interest to most packs. Fortunately an Alpha and Beta that she bumped into hear about her on the news and, having been inexplicably drawn to her, agree to take her to their pack. The story that evolves over the Duet deals with how Juniper develops a relationship with the 3 Alphas and the Beta each with an individual focus and how she adapts to being an omega whilst there is a low level sub-plot of her possibly having a stalker as well as the emotional trauma of having a mother who picks on her body issues and insecurities whilst trying to force her into a one on one Alpha/Omega relationship.

HEAT LEVEL 🌶️🌶️🌶️/🍆🍆🍆 There are plenty of spicy scenes including MMF, MM and MF as well as some group scenes. There’s no kink or dom elements. Whilst some of the scenes are geared around the developing relationships that the FC is forming others are simply added spice.

The Duet is well written and the editing is OK. There is limited violence which is mainly focussed on the climax in Book 2 and is over quickly. There is some angst and drama but nothing that is dragged out or particularly dark. The story keeps moving over the Duet although it definitely goes through slow periods and could probably have been cut shorter. Having said that much of the length revolves around the development of the relationships with the MCs. The author takes time to focus on each relationship individually which provides some depth to the romance and not just a reliance on fated mates but it does make the story slow as there is little action to keep the reader engaged. There is a good amount of world building showing a world where omegas are simply for looking pretty and having babies with limited rights or support for autonomy and there is some simple character building for each of the main characters but no secondary characters other than those who are pivotal to the story or sub-plots.

The FC is likeable but a classic omega and the MCs fit the usual buckets of big and grumpy, bouncy & upbeat (Beta), calm and loving and powerful (Pack Lead) with possessive and protective elements. However none of the alphas are particularly “touch her and die” or come across as overtly dominant so they felt a bit subdued and the pack/family element seemed to lack some cohesion with individuals of the pack existing more as individuals in a group than part of a real pack and the FC having separate relationships. There were a few sub-plots with a stalker and an overbearing mother however these never really come to much drive the story. The whole stalker sub-plot seemed redundant in that there were only limited references to it through the books then suddenly everything comes to a head out of the blue in Book 2 and is sorted before you can blink. The part about the Beta’s background that suddenly comes to a head seems ridiculously manufactured and unbelievable and you don’t even get a full explanation before the book ends. I didn’t really understand the point. Why not have a real build up through the Duet that would add some mystery and drama to the story?

Overall this is an OK read if a bit slow and with no real action to get your teeth into. If a slow romance is your thing then this is the Duet for you. If you are looking for story or action with your romance maybe not so much.

Part 2 lost my interest. The central conflict for the majority of it was that Arin randomly decided that maybe June didn’t really want to be with him. Who knows why. Sure, it was the main plot point, but I honestly have no idea.

Arin also decides to have a party where they invite 30 family members, including Theo’s abusive fathers, after forcing everyone to attend a dinner with June’s crazy parents and some rando. I don’t know why Theo’s so into inviting everyone’s family around, it sounds like a nightmare. I would 100% excuse myself from that party.

June grows a backbone and tells off Theo’s dads, which magically inspires his abused mom to leave them right there at a family party. Too bad she didn’t have a backbone in literally any other interaction in two books. She normally just sits quietly while people abuse her or neglect her, so I don’t really know where it came from. But it doesn’t matter, because it’s not important at all to the story.

We find out June’s been stalked for years. I can’t decide if that makes the stalker a really good stalker because he went undetected, or a really bad one because June didn’t know he existed.

He kidnaps her, but it’s ok because Seth is randomly part of an organized crime syndicate and they magically find her right away. I don’t know how. Computers or something. It’s glossed over.

In other nonsense, they name their pack June’s family name even though her family is awful. They also get vasectomies with no downtime or recovery and the only explanation is it was done by an alpha doctor. Okee dokee then.

They never visit that sex club from the first book, and they have pretty boring sex. All the guys sort of meld together into one Nice Guy personality and they bring that same vibe to the bedroom.

Reverse Harem, Bisexual polyamory, omegaverse, HEA

There are threads of the story that start in the first book, that Randolph weaves into the last book that make this book so fucking special as a sequel, I could get enough of this series and I read the bonus content online right after because I longed for more. I hope Randolph writes more.

I really wanted to push through because I enjoyed the first book in this series so much but I just couldn’t. The pacing of this second book is so much slower than the first with no clear plot direction. They’ve already built up to the heat in the first book and it feels like this second book had no point other than to try and re-hash the family issues some of the characters have and in doing so their “flaws”. But my biggest problem while reading is that suddenly in this book both June and Arin seem to have forgotten their entire character from book 1 and are both suddenly acting stupid. There was no consistency in how June was supposed to be strong yet broken and no clear reason for why she can stand up for herself in some situations but is completely mute in others. Their characterizations was just so all over the place and it felt like the book was dragging on for no reason. Also, the dinner with family, especially June’s family was just completely unnecessary. TBH I think it was just poor plot direction and there could have been other ways June overcomes her trauma by bonding with her pack. I think if a lot of this was cut and the series was just in one book, this would have felt like a more complete development of both the characters and the plot.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.75 stars

Ahh, so close to a 5 star rating for me!! There was a scene that I wanted included that wasn't (Arin + June doing stuff at a club), but alas.

I couldn't stop thinking about this book when I wasn't reading it and even dreamed about it. This book really took me out of the current reality of the world and I'm very thankful for that 💙

Seth remained absolute perfection the entirety of his book. Bennett wormed his way into my heart even more. Arin frustrated me at parts (but he was meant to), but I still love him. AND Theo won me over (totally helps that he can braid hair!!). He can also do my laundry for me and spoil me by buying me stuff any day.

Also I'm SO happy that June remained wanting to be child free. More romances should have HEAs like that!!

I cannot wait to read more by this author!! Definitely a new favorite :) You're stuck with me, Rebecca!

If you love a great sweet OV with some angst + tension, go read book 1 (Gold Rush) in KU right now to get ready for when book 2 (this one) comes out on March 31st!

This is book two in the Golden Omegaverse.

I really wanted to love this but a few thinks didn't feel right in book two that didn't occur in the first book. Most of this book takes place after the heat and they move back to the United States from London, the pack has a manor estate outside of Rochester New York. Relationships within the pack are defined, and bonding starts to happen, the first being with Bennett and Seth. I didn't think that Juniper would be into some of the activities that were written, but it doesn't matter. Also the time it took before she bonds with Arin felt off for some reason, but I don't make these decisions. The story could of used more build up to the kidnapping, and more hints around what Seth's family was involved in, would have been welcomed. But overall it was an interesting read.

You bet yer booty I binged this in one sitting, LOL.

NBD just one of my favorite duets to ever exist now.

In Gold Mine we get to see the pack get their (childless!!) HEA, with some HAWT AF times both before… and after. That EPILOGUE THOUGH. 🔥🔥🔥

You get to see June standing up for her pack. You get to see just how gone for her all of them are individually, and together. You get to see THE H E A T. The … drama. 👀

One of the things I cannot stress enough is how much I love that- while the pack members have emotional damage- they are made to see it, learn from it, and GROW. HELLER WE LOVE SOME CHARACTER DEVELOPMEEEEENT

I can’t say a whole lot more without spoilers but I am LETTING YOU KNOW it’s an A++++ from me, okay? Okay.

still gunna simp for Seth until the day I die honestly

Destiny takes its own time to unravel...

Rating: 3/5 for Writing Style

Plot: It's a supernatural heirarchy based universe, where their is categorization based on your designation. This gets decided in the teen years but there are anamolies to it. Let's leave it at that..

Genre: Reverse Harem Romance, Slow Burn Romance

Highlight:
+Multiple MMC and one FMC
+Multiple POVs

The plot got it's closure but I felt that the character description for MMCs was a bit rushed, especially for Seth. I felt the book tried to pick up the lost momentum for the main story but the character's back story was summarised to make it look completed.

Personal favourite: The closure for how the FML's transition and her support system (MMCs), help her in becoming a better version for herself ✨

I really liked how everything came together in the end. I enjoyed seeing the bonds deepen between everyone in the relationship, with all the characters growing, maturing, and having their personalities explored more fully. The first book was already deliciously spicy, but this second one turns up the heat even further, with scenes that are not only more intimate and passionate but also carry even stronger emotional weight, making the connections feel more intense and addictive. The only thing I wish had been developed further was the relationship between Theo and Arin, which we only get to see deepen briefly in the epilogue. Other than that, I was happy with how June and her pack’s story wrapped up.

While I enjoyed seeing June and the pack continue to come together, I feel the conflict should have been simplified. We have the family drama with June’s parents and the . It was easy to pick up hints about the latter throughout the two books, but it wasn’t at all necessary to the story. I feel having her parents as the main villains and tying them together would have been better. Then we throw in Seth’s family secrets. They came out of nowhere and only seemed to exist to solve a problem.

I really enjoyed the first book in this duology, but this one suffered from some pacing problems for me. The pack was pretty happily settled down by the beginning of the book, and yes, heat shenanigans ensued, but the romantic tension was pretty much cut at the beginning. The stalker subplot was sprinkled throughout, but it didn't actually amount to anything meaningful and was resolved very easily.

I think this has some really excellent components, and I will definitely read more from the author to see if she worked out some of her structural issues. I liked the writing and the characterization for the whole pack, so I know she has the potential to write a fantastic book.

wow! Just... wow!!

this was BEAUTIFULLY written. I laughed, a lot. I cried and I almost threw my Kindle at the wall at one part.

As a bigger girl myself, I really really loved reading June's story. And I loved that the MMCs were all different sizes as well. Most omegaverses are skinny little petite omegas and ripped alphas and I enjoy their stories as well but I felt a soul connection with June because she's not your basic omega.

I highly recommend this duet to anyone on the fence. this is the second/last book of the duet so read the first book before this one but an amazing ending!

excellent finish

This was a great finish to the duet. Watching as the relationships developed was very satisfying. I do wonder if the stalker storyline could’ve just been excluded completely. It was insinuated in the 1st book and almost non-existent in the 2nd except for one, one chapter scene. I guess I feel like the story would’ve been just as good/the same without it. However, overall this duet was very good!

Beautiful story, told from all POV. This had a bit of drama, but not too much. Each alpha had their own personality and issues. The author put an interesting spin on omegaverse, with the blood and bites tinged with gold and silver. The spice is definitely 💯 fire. Can’t wait to read more from this author!

Yikes! This series was bad

No offence meant to the author, but honestly, it felt like it was trying too hard. The premise was decent but the execution was poorly done. The whole thing was boring and I kept finding other things to do. Which isn't like me because I usually love to read and when a book hooks me, it doesn't let go. This one, wasn't it.

I loved this story and the characters. June’s journey with her parents and rejecting all the learned self-esteem issues really hit home for me and I think many people will relate to in some capacity. Mostly I REALLY, REALLY appreciated that the epilogue did not include a pregnancy and the pack ACTUALLY committed to not having kids in the future!!! It’s SO hard to find in the romance genre and especially omegaverse. Since a large part of June’s story was that she was an adult with plans and ambitions before everything happened, it would’ve been devastating if she suddenly said “nvm I’ll give it all up for a baby.” Thank you R. L. for representing the child-free community beautifully and writing a beautiful story!

The first book (Gold Rush) was great, I really enjoyed it, but this second book was completely unneccessary. Things could have been wrapped up in book one if the author had cut out a lot of waffle and filler.

Loved the premise of the first book so I kept reading to get the pack's HEA, This book is boring and drags on.

I just wish the FMC had any real spine or agency. Also that the societal world building problems were addressed and that the MMCs did groveling WAY better. And the dynamics between them were more complex. Basically I wish this book was more than erotica

This is the second part of the Golden Omegaverse duet. This follows June, three Alphas and beta through her first heat and beyond. They deal with evil and loving family. Kidnapping. A lot of doubts. Tons of lust, love and happiness. Plus, so much more.
