AJ Ross has always focused his attention on two things, women and medicine. He was the best at both. He was the love them and leave them type. But when he moves in with a girl he had a fling with, a girl he cannot remember, his life slowly begins to unravel.
Katherine had always done what was expected of her. She was daddy’s little obedient girl. But when her father arranges a marriage between her and her friend she begins to rebel. Katherine bumps into a man who gave her a night she could never forget. The problem is, he can’t seem to remember her. So when they end up living together her sole purpose is to make sure AJ Ross remembers the night he took her virginity.
Listening to the voices in my head. Putting them down on paper and giving you a piece of my mind.Writing is an escape. there is a little piece of me in every charcter i create and in every moment.
I knew a guy like AJ once who bounced from woman to woman and hoped I would be the one he settled on so I could relate to Kathryn. This story did keep my interest and made me close to tears when AJ went out of country to help and came back two years later BUT I want to know why this author left this story a cliff hanger!? Yes he came back but what happened after that! The next book isn't about them. Not sure I want to continue with the rest of the series if it's going to end that way.
Katherine really got on my nerves. She kept reacting to situations without knowing all the facts. AJ has one mean temper. But I Love how he Loves his sisters. And I I the relationship that AJ and Keno have. I'm just glad that AJ and Katherine got themselves together. And realize how much they Love each other finally.
On Call is book#2 in The New Yorker series. Books 1 and 2 are similar in the sense of book cover, humor, editing errors, and there is also a car crash. Speaking of car crash, this one touched my heart. Transitions seemed easier to follow in this series. This installment focuses on the romance between Adrian Jr. better known as AJ, and his father’s ex-best friend’s daughter Katherine. Both AJ and Katherine are doctors at the same hospital. Like in the previous book, AJ is a protector of those he loves. I like this quality in him. Katherine never fully grew on me, in fact I found her to be shady.
I love Lisette. She is the character that provides the comedic relief for this serial. I liked her feistiness in Betrayed and enjoyed her more in this installment. Her quick wit tongue often placed a smile on my face. I loved her line:
”Yes, I know he’s Black and I’m Latina. There was a mix up of orders in our mother’s womb.”
Lisette’s boyfriend Reno continues to prove to be the perfect match for her and big brother to his new found siblings. I wondered if the young woman (Lacey) who Katherine examined was Reno’s missing sister Rhyne with a different name. I was disappointed to find my assumption was wrong as there was still no resolution to the Rhyne storyline. Maybe all loose ends from Betrayed & On Call will be cleared up in book#3.
The epilogue is heart wrenching. I really felt for Catalella. Her story along with any insight around Rhyne is what I look forward in the next episode One Night Stand
