In New Domino City, the hottest game in town is the Turbo Duel, fought from blazingly fast motorcycles called Duel Runners. DESTINY'S LAST DRAW!!
Rex Goodwin and Jack Atlas reach the end of their epic duel, and Goodwin demonstrates his ancient power. Elsewhere, Crow Hogan has released the other Duelists sealed by Lazar, but it’s too late for them to go to Yusei’s aid now. High in Aerial Fortress Seibal, Yusei battles the Skeleton Knight to reach Sect…!
From this, I get the feeling that they are wanting to end the series soon. (This does not bother me, as I know there will be other YGO! manga series to love in the future as well.)
The "Ultimate God" will be awakened soon, all Hell will break loose. Till then, we have the turbo duels that we have come to know and love as a storyline. I have loved all the action in this series.
Much as I did not like Rex Goodwin, I did enjoy the background story that Roman "Skeleton Knight" Goodwin shared with us about the two of them and the past duel goddess. I just hope that things will be getting better for Akiza soon in this time. ____________________________________ I want to thank VIZ Media for giving me the chance to read and review this in advance. Original story separate from the anime but still great been a yugioh fan for years and I am not stopping now good luck to any author in writing each new yugioh manga they are great
5D's doesn't shirk away from exploring the lore of its ancient past as it connects to the present story; leading to a somewhat disjointed volume that is still overall enjoyable. Vol. 7 finishes off Jack's duel against Rex; which itself was quite good with strategies on both sides. Then we cut to the middle (yes, middle!) of a duel between Yusei and the Skeleton Knight. Due to this, I wasn't as invested but it was fun nevertheless. We then get quite a lot of backstory regarding Duel Priests Rex and Roman plus Duel Priestess Ish with flashbacks aplenty. I will say I found their history interesting but not overly compelling. That said, I still commend Masahiro Hikokubo for going all in on his history for the manga story and detailing it all in now rather than right before the series end.
The last few chapters see Yusei and Jack discovering the grand plan, along with a duel for the life of Akiza. And it is Yusei vs Sect! Given the build-up I had high expectations of this duel and it delivered. However it ends on a cliffhanger, as is typical with Yu-Gi-Oh collections. The art is as good as ever; with double page spreads for the eyes to feast on. While it stumbles a bit this volume, I still find this manga to be well worth the time to read.
The duels between Jack and Rex was pretty cool even though it is a little confusing about how Jack one since I thought they had gotten into a tie at the end of it. But I am a little disappointed in the duel between Roman and Yusei as they start in the middle and while it was a pretty cool finale of I still would have preferred them having a full duel.
