Igor and Ajax are experiencing the adventure of a lifetime. One last hurrah before the responsibilities of adulthood draw these littermates apart. Galacticaching their way through star systems they encounter more than they bargained for during their stopover at Space Portal Vector 7Z-218.
This unassuming station at the edge of the galaxy holds a key, and the space hijinks and absurdities exponentially increase as they try to find the elusive token and solve its mystery. Ajax has always counted on Igor and vice versa, but he never imagined what he discovers. Will either of their futures ever be the same after the games?
APS is a Jack-of-all-trades and master of none. Self-defined as terminally curious and prone to self-indulgence, APS excels at frittering. Diagnosed as having issues with authority from a young age, APS frolics in being a perpetrator of general ridiculousness and a defender of the irreverent.
and the aforementioned combination squee/melt brought about by a surprisingly tender ending.
weird line-editing issues pulled me out of the story a couple times, but am i ever glad i stuck with it.
because it's delightful, and packed with more inside jokes than i ever caught—and i feel certain, goodreads, that the fluttering black hole was just for me.
I have never had so much fun reading a story. It's everything I always wanted from a deeply affectionate gentle ribbing of the genre. It's an M/M taco shell rammed full of everyone's favorite flavors: quirks, peeves, events, characters, science (science!), pseudoscience (totally just as good as real science!), sexual position, lube use, and punnery. There's 'baby,' a birth partner for a pregnant thylacine, fresh kraken, fated mates, fluttering wormholes, and quantum mechanics. Blink and you'll miss a reference, and they're all too good to overlook.
I'm unable to rate this. It was flawlessly written, probably held many more geeky references and innuendos than I noticed, was thoroughly silly, and it filled the prompt perfectly. SPaG and prose were fine, it was a fast read.
However, whether humour is perceived as funny largely depends on who it is addressed to, and this sort of convoluted slapstick isn't the kind I find hilarious. A classic "it's me, not you". Thus it would be unfair to pull the average down due the fact I've a different brand of humour. This clearly works just fine for geeks.
Fun, super creative story. So many great details, showing us who the characters were and what their world was like. A lot of unfamiliar words, but they were easy to grasp within the context.
I loved Igor and Jax, and kept laughing at their interactions. The banter, the physical humor, it was all so well done.
They also had sweet moments, that made me go "aww”, like Jax's reaction to Igor's hair, and saving the youngling. And sexy times! *nods* Oh, yeah, those were hot, and nicely pervy :P
The other aliens were fun, too, I could totally picture them in all their glory. The beak on the cephaloid, the puddle of ink...lmao!...the winking pinniped. The different settings had great details, too. The faulty translator system at the worn out landing platform...
The scene from the prompt picture? Genius!
A favorite quote: "Stop.” Igor rested his hands on Jax’s. “You’ll get patchy and start looking mangy.”
Side notes: I couldn't not mention the sly inclusion of fluttering ;)
I beta’d this story, but it was even more FUN to read this in it’s complete form. The requestor asked for a silly-erotic-story but they got a hilariously-awesome-scifi-geekFest-full-of-EXTREME-uniqueness-and-zany-adventure. In other words – enter the fluttering wormhole and read this sucker!
I had so much fun reading this story. It has just the right amount of adventure, excitement, silliness and fun to make this an entertaining and enjoyable read.
From the author's name to the very end of the book, this short was fun to read. Written for the slightly twisted, the antics of nestmates Jax and Igor had me in stitches as they raced across the galaxy in a contest to collect the most tokens. The sex was hot but the guys were even hotter especially when they found a strange token. I'd love to reaad more from this author.
Got icked at the parasite removal in the early pages. Humour doesn't mesh with me so didn't read far. Figure you'll either love this and laugh your way through or be lost.
Damn, that was FUN! The author totally got the prompt and ran with it, much to my amusement. A lot was included, but was never muddled. There was plenty of backstory without being too much and lots of memorable moments that showed the bond between Jax and Igor, so I really "got" their connection.
I had some good chuckles with their adventures, as ill fated as a few of them seemed. Then, at the end, there were real and unexpected feels! That was really well done and gave the story a complete well rounded feel to it. It went from being a sexy adventure to a real love story and I love BOTH of those things, so WIN!
I devoured this story and found it highly amusing and fun. My only quibble? I wish it were longer and more fleshed out. You know how a lot of us complain that an author should do more showing, less telling? Well there was quite a lot of showing but, in my opinion, not enough telling. There were many instances that could've really used more back story to explain wth was going on, or maybe I just needed to have read more m/m shifter stories to get all the inside jokes.
Other than that, I think a certain author needs to write more space opera type stories, don't you? ;)
Sci-fi madcap adventure with bells on... Igor and Jax are clonned litter mates of a feline type, and they seem to be spending their time in the equivalent of intergalactic geocaching ... during the story they have a variety of strange adventures, deliver alien babies, get fortunes from mer-people, get parasites removed, take drugs that result in lots of sex and discover their destiny as mates....
The prompter's request was for a very silly sci-fi/fantasy story and the author certainly delivered this in spades.
The title of this story is itself the perfect descriptor. The picture that accompanies this prompt is, well...you need to go look at it, and the prompt itself asks for the silliest erotic story imaginable. And this is pretty silly, and also pretty fun, pretty sexy, pretty original...it's pretty damn good!
The author (whose pen name I love, seriously, puns make me happy) sends the friends and lovers (and more, it gets complicated--just read it) galacticaching before settling down into responsibility, and their adventure turns into a rambling, inconvenient, dirty, helpful, exciting, orgasmic romp.
If you enjoy a bit of absurdist humor and creative word construction, a far-flung sci fi setting that is nevertheless handled deftly and leaves you wanting to visit more exotic planets (because apparently the universe is a strange, strange place) then you're going to love this story.

2.5 stars I get why people like this. I do. Hence the extra half star. It's fun and silly, and not just a little bit sexy. But as a sci-fi lover, this is just such a random assortment of all and every sci-fi expression, setting, scenario, and set-up without any real cohesiveness. There was no plot to speak of, just Jax and Igor in random scenes designed for a laugh or some sexy times. (They tried to use the 'token' as the plot, but it fell flat for me and didn't make much sense.)
I didn't feel anything for the characters, and no emotional response whatsoever with the HEA, partly because it seemed out of nowhere. ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Listen, you guys, just read this silly, fun, sweet, highly imaginative, sexy, deliciously alien story. Do it!
We're dropped right into the middle of Igor and Jax's "mission", which also means we're dropped right into the mix of Igor and Jax. Their personalities, the way the relate and react to each other, and the level at which they care about and can get under each other's skin are all quickly established in ways that feel organic, not forced. Definitely one of the more difficult tricks of writing a good short story. And that's what this is, a good short story.
The imagery is vibrant, the dialogue natural and the smexy times are smexy.
I like the easy way with which different beings and cultures are woven throughout.
There's a level of emotion here, as well. We experience it between Igor and Jax, as well as in actions they each perform. It's wonderful seeing these through their eyes each time.
Enjoy the references, I certainly did. :)
This world, these characters, this writing could - and should!!! - all be explored in more and lengthier stories. Pleeeeeeease? ;) :D
I couldn't help feeling like this would make no sense even if I'd read it a second or third time, but apparently I have a thing for Bro-cest since I thought it was really hot. Terrific addition to the event.
This was so much fun! Smutty and punny and clever, with great characters. I loved all the different varieties of aliens and their various quirks. Littermates Jax and Igor are sweethearts.
So creative and fun. Littermate-chest hooked me right away. Collecting tokens has never been such a good time. Completely nailed that picture and prompt
Okay, hands up: I'm a huge sci-fi geek, always have been, from Star Trek to Battlestar G, hell -- to loving listening to physicist Proffesor Brian Cox -- so this had me tittering more than a few times (fluttering wormholes...). It doesn't matter how serious you take the subject on the whole, for those with a playful sense of humour, it's good to step outside and just read some fine fun, mischief, and downright poke-until-you-giggle authorship.
It's part of Love Landscape's free reads and definitely does the prompt all its justice. Great, great read...
The point of this story eludes me... It was weird, bizarre, odd, funny and hot. I didn't understand half of what was going on but I couldn't stop reading anyway. We all need a little crazy in our lives.
Well, this isn’t a story I usually read because it involves poly. I am usually just a MM only. But I gave it a try. It wasn’t that bad. I had a humorous adventure for the littermates, Igor and Jax. They are also sexual partners, but during the story they are promiscuous with strangers. I was confused by ‘mates’. Because they are promiscuous. For me, mates/soulbound means monogamy.
I was a little hesitant to read this at first with the warning littermate-cest. I am not into -cest at all, but was assured by the author that the nature of this was different, and after reading I agree.
The story was fun and erotic. Although I felt like these two were more fuck- buddies than anything else, upon reflection I could see the more.
