After the Australian Pack murdered Reese William’s parents, the young werewolf fled and took refuge with the American Pack. Three years later, the Australians have tracked him down and dispatched a bounty hunter to bring him back. That bounty hunter, though, isn’t the lone wolf who owes them a debt, but his twenty-one-year-old daughter, Madison. Maddie is determined to bring in the rogue Reese for her ailing father. Now Reese has to show her the truth behind her client's lies…and avoid being the cause of an all-out war for Elena and the rest of the American Pack.

Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed.
Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She's the author of the NYT-bestselling "Women of the Otherworld" paranormal suspense series and "Darkest Powers" young adult urban fantasy trilogy, as well as the Nadia Stafford crime series. Armstrong lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.
Me gustó mucho la historia y como se manejó. Pero fue muy corta! Las imágenes son excelentes y realmente te transmiten la historia pero un par de veces creo que le faltó algo porque las escenas se cortaban abruptamente.
I was thrilled when I discovered Bounty Hunt was in the Mystery Box I purchased! Although not a big graphic novel fan I really wanted to read it to find out more about Reese, and fill in the blanks after reading the novella that came out after it. Great story, and illustrations! I totally miss this series!
Ahhhh omg okay this was AMAZING!!! This little insight into Reese’s beginnings with Maddie is great and I love how the entire pack was included! Elena and Clay, badass as always! Nick was perfection! My little baby Noah was great and when the baddies were talking about kidnapping Noah to get to Reese I just about died! I love this series so very much!
This is a graphic novel set in the Women of the Otherworld world. This story follows Reese, the young Australian werewolf who joined the pack in the book Frostbitten. If you read Chivalrous, then you know Reese’s back story about why he left Australia. The backstory of Chilvalrous is pretty critical to the story in Bounty Hunt.
Maddie is the human daughter of a werewolf. She came to live with her father after her mother was murdered. Her mother taught her at a young age to call a certain number if she were ever in trouble. She went to live with her father after her mother’s death. Her father owes a debt to the local Australian werewolves. He is asked to find Reese and bring him back to the pack. Maddie decides that she is better equipped to bring Reese in than her father, so she leaves for America.
Maddie thought it would be pretty easy to seduce and bring in a young college boy. However, she was not aware of the past that Reese has had with young college girls. He has no trust in them. It is harder to flirt and seduce him than she expects. The Australians come to America to speed things up. They have to deal with Elena and Clay
Bounty Hunt is a nice addition to the Otherworld series. We get to spend more time with Reese. Elena and Clay make an appearance. Plus the new additions of Maddie and her father as characters were done well. There are pages at the end that come from the Legacy. Keep reading all the way to the end, even past the Legacy. The very last page is a nice treat. Showing us what Jeremy and Jamie had to deal with while Clay and Elena are gone.
While I think you could read this book without knowing the Otherworld stories, I do think you will miss out on a lot of the backstory. This was a limited edition print. I believe that this is something Kelley Armstrong printed knowing that it would only be picked up for the diehard fans. I don’t read a lot of graphic novels, but I’ve read some. This one is well done with great artistry. I will continue to get my hands on anything that Kelley Armstrong publishes, if I can manage it.
I'd been trying to get my little werewolf paws on this one for a while so it was exciting to grab it at last!
Reese is trying to keep to himself on campus and becomes aware of the persistant attentions of Maddie. He sees right through her ploy as a girl with a crush on him, knowing that the Australian pack who want him dead have tracked him down. Maddie is the bait in the trap but he can call on help from his new friends.
Maddie's father owes the Aussie pack and capturing Reese for them is their ticket to safety but no matter what Maddie tries, Reese will not engage with her. Drastic efforts are required and they now decide to try and catch Noah to get to Resses.
I loved the graphics in this novel and it was great to get a bit more background on Reese after he comes to USA. It filled in the story gap nicely. My one complaint is the price of these graphic novels which are pretty steep, so I hope we don't get flooded by graphic novels in the series. My book budget would explode!
This graphic novel is told from Reese and Maddie's POV. Maddie, sent by the Australian pack, comes to New York to kidnap Reese and this way pay a debt her father owes the Australian pack. Only, the story the Australians told her about Reese doesn't have much to do with the truth, as she soon finds out. Graphic novels aren't really my favorite format, and I probably would've enjoyed this story even more in prose, but I loved it in this format too.
A quick, very enjoyable read. Not everyone looked the way I'd pictured them, but I really liked the artist. The graphics were well done. I woudn't say no to more Otherworld in this format! (It's a nice change to have it be a new story, too, and not a re-telling of a previously published novel.)
This was amazing!! It gives you the perfect look into the world through the graphic art and all the characters are just how I imagined them!! It was well worth the price paid!
1) It's a nice addition to the universe because it's our first proper look at a Pack other than the North American one.
2) I loved seeing the Pack members interact. The poker game at the Sorrentinos' made me feel warm and fuzzy, as did the admission that the best way to hurt Reese is to go after Noah because the two have become brothers.
3) Getting to see Elena filling the Alpha shoes from an outside POV is wonderful. Without the internal self-doubt, she comes across as confident and capable.
4) The "Meanwhile at Stonehaven" page at the end is amazing, showing what Jeremy and Jaime had to put up with from the twins while Elena and Clay were away.
Three drawbacks to Bounty Hunt:
1) I loved Reese's last story, so I went into this with big expectations, which unfortunately, the book couldn't live up to. My main problem is Madison, the POV character. I appreciate her athleticism, but I find her annoying.
2) Madison's motivation comes from wanting to protect here father, but I didn't like him either.
I love a good graphic novel – one that works in with a series that I love. But also that has a beautiful storyline, great imagery and, in this case, the same great sass that I’m used to in the Women of the Otherworld series. The fact that this brings us back to Reese’s predicament with the Australian pack, just makes it a much more enrapturing visual story.
Reese’s past is shown beautifully in Chivalrous, and it’s kind of a sad tale, but, ultimately it takes Reese to Elena. So, when bounty hunters come to the USA to take him back down under and kill him, the story has an almost more tragic turn. Luckily, Reese is wary enough after his experiences to be wary of the beautiful new girl in his life. And his trust in Elena lets her help him to overcome the hunt and another shard of his past can be healed.
Although the majority of this series is based in the USA, there is a sense of the global supernatural community throughout the series. Bounty Hunt just drives the constantly changing world of globalisation and how it impacts us all.
One of my favourite things about Kelley Armstrong is that she can produce a great story in multiple formats. Some novelists can't write a good short story, let along a graphic novel. Kelley Armstrong delivers in all formats she has taken on.
This is a quick read with excellent illustrations. The story follows Reese, involves the Australian pack and gives a glimpse not only into his past but his possible future as well. Read the book all the way to the last page, the write ups about the pack members are worth reading and you don't want to miss the last page.
If you are an Otherworld fan you want this on your shelf.
Very good graphic novel. Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series has been a favorite of mine for years and today I was reminded why. I'm happy I chose this for a quick, early morning read.
Not my favorite story, maybe I'm just not used to these stories as graphic novels, but it was still a great addition to the Otherworld universe. I loved seeing the twins!
This was a great way to learn a little more about Reese who is a favourite of mine. I'm still not a big fan of this art style but at least it was easy to read and understand.
Story: 4 strars Otherworld stories are always a treat, and all in all this one didn't disappoint either. I subtracted 1 star because I personally felt that there were a few places where it could have used more text (or maybe even one or two additional pages), and less relying on the pictures to tell the tale. So while I fundamentally really enjoyed this story and have a definite place among my favorites, unfortunately I also found the storytelling a little less fluid than I think it could have been.
Artwork: 2 stars I'm sorry, but I personally really wasn't all that impressed by the artwork. As far as I can tell the artist is plenty talented, and her style seems to me a deliberate choice - I mean, for instance, the cover she did for Becoming is gorgeous -, but that doesn't make me feel much better when I pick up my copy of Bounty Hunt and find the pictures, or more specifically the way the characters are drawn in the poor thing, butt ugly. There are way too many squarish angles to the characters faces to my liking, and it literally drives me nuts that women, and Elena especially, looks like men.
I read this graphic novel when it was first released, but haven't really thought of it since. But after finishing Frostbitten in one day, I was in the mood for more werewolves, and figured this story would sate that hunger. It kinda did, and kinda didn't.
I am glad I read it now, though, instead of waiting until I was finished with the main series, as my curiousoty about Reese was strong now and reading his story while this interested made it better than I remembered it.
The art is nice, althought a bit too dark, making it hard to see details at times. And I'm still not a big fan of this type of art, but it is what I've come to expect from Armstrong-books with art, and so it isn't all that bad either. If that makes sense.
Keeping the original rating. --------------------------- Original rating: 4/5 stars
This graphic novel is a wonderful treat for Otherworld fans. The artwork is great and it was fun to see some of my favourite characters depicted.
Having finally read the short story dealing with Reese's backstory in Otherworld Nights last year it was great to see his character develop and spend some more time with the Pack.
The overall story was well paced and gripping. . I particularly loved the little touches which gave some lovely insights into Pack life, such as the poker scene and the verbal interplay between the guys.
It's not a particularly long book and can easily be read in one sitting, but I will definitely be re-reading and poring over the artwork and the little touches I missed the first time round. I am very happy to add it to my collection.
Nice novella that gives Reese's background story and explains Maddie's appearance. I'm not the best at enjoying graphic reads and that's why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. So it's all me.
Madison is sent by her father to lure Reese out in the open so that the Australian pack can take him back. She thinks he is really a bad guy and is all up for the mission especially if it helps her dad.
Reese isn't stupid and picks up on Madison's plan right away. He calls in the pack to resolve the problem.
We see how Elena struggles with the other pack's in being the North American Alpha. They ALL think she's a figure head and Clay is the true alpha. Stupid men!
Madison figures out that she has been set up and that Reese is NOT a bad guy. Love how this plays out.
Bounty Hunt is a graphic novel that takes place post Thirteen.
I would recommend reading Chivalrous from Otherworld Nights before reading this graphic novel.
Bounty Hunt is about Reese. The story has a lot to do with what happened in Chivalrous. It mostly takes place in the US (part of it takes place in Australia).
I absolutely loved seeing many of the Otherworld characters drawn in beautiful color. The book was so vivid and amazing to look at and read.
After reading Chivalrous and Brazen, we are up to date with Reese's life. This book continues from there. It was a wonderful and engaging story brought to life by the captivating drawings.
If you love the Women of the Otherworld series try to get a hold of this graphic novel. It is absolutely gorgeous to read.
Reese hasn't wanted to talk about his past with anyone but that doesn't mean that his past has forgotten about him. The Australian pack wants him back for their own reasons especially since they can use this to try and get their hands on the daughter of a non-pack member as well. Reese will have to learn to trust his new pack if he wants to survive this.
Story was ok but nothing amazing. I'm not a fan of this artist's style and had a really hard time telling the different North American pack members apart. I like that authors are branching out to tell new stories via comics but this one just needed something a bit more to make it memorable.
Really loved this one! Looks like the pack will be expanding again! Also looks like Reese's secret is out to the pack so maybe Nick will quit pushing him to date, or knowing Nick he'll think Reese has to face his fear and start dating again.
I really liked the new characters, in particular Maddie! I think she'd be a great addition to the pack if they allow her in when she's not werewolf despite having werewolf blood. I'm not sure how it works in the packs, whether you have to be able to shift to be a full member or if having werewolf blood will be enough.
Great story and Xaviere has done an excellent job on the graphics as usual!
totally loved getting the special edition of this book it was well worth the money...this is the story about reese also it is about maddie and her father charliie as with the book forsaken we see the mention of maddie and charlie but didnt know the full story so this book explains that ..i have to state for any of kelley's fan this is worth the money...the art is totally awesome loved it ..it is a great story ....to the perks which i hadnt noticed till today but the book is numbered and signed by kelley and xaviere...thanks kelley and xaviere
It's basically a visual novella / short graphic novel, with a good story of a character you want to know more about (Reese) and introducing a new FEMALE character (Madison) and giving us tantalizing insights, albeit glimpses, to our favorite characters lives that the book series never quite gets to in enough detail (Elena, Clay, the twins, Jeremy, Jaime).
Makes me want more WOTO books, feels like a strong pack would be good characters to follow.
This is a graphic novel set in Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series. Armstrong's writing is as strong as ever, and it was a pleasure to read Reese's origin tale. Illustrator Xaviere Daumarie really shines when drawing werewolf Elena -- athletic rather than pretty, a thoughtful and strong leader. Clay was also spot-on, but other male werewolves looked too much alike. The pages after the story's end were a delight, a perfect dessert after the main course.
fantastic! got drawn into the story, loved the Graphic novel idea of it (there isnt enough story for a full novella, but Reece's story had to be told, IMO). has been left rather open, so it wouldn't surprise me to see this furthered in next year's round of special editions. and, as usual, great bonus items in the back. more pages added to the legacy! JUST RELEASE THE LEGACY KELLEY! lol i would pay DOUBLE to have a mock up of the legacy! :D
4 stars for the story. 3.5 stars for the graphics.
The story was excellent and I was glad to learn more about Reese. However, I found it hard to keep track of who was who in each panel. I ended up using clothing to follow each character as they appeared in the book. I would have much preferred this story to be told in a novella rather than a graphic novel (my preference).
Great short story, wonderful artwork. Otherworld stories about the Stonehaven Werewolf Pack are a favourite of mine, especially ones with the twins in them. They only have a small cameo in this one, but it's still nice to see.
