Jonahmae Pacala (publishing as Jonaxx) was never fond of reading longnovels during her elementary years but found a deep connection with sshort sad stories. She discovered her flair for writing at the early age of ten. What was once a hobby has now grown into a passion for writing online.
This is another Wattpad story by a Filipino writer. I know, I am on a roll. ;)
I just need cliches and drama and impossible romances right now.
This is the story of Chase Martin Castillo and Eliana Jimenez. Eli chose to leave Manila because of love life problems ( She goes to Cebu to live a new life, even pretends to be a poor girl though she is the princess of Jimenez group, and works for CPI as secretary to the acting CEO, Chase.
Their love story begins there. ;)
It's painfully cute and sweet how these two fell in love. And Chase is really someone to die for. Both have issues and they went past that. Don't mind the age gap! She's 19. He's 27. Imagine the insecurity of both.. which I find so cute. :)
I love jonaxx but I'm sorry, I really can't finish this. Let's just say that the way of writing doesn't fit my current preference na, a lot of cringey lines na din. Not surprising since this is actually one of her first stories on wattpad.
However, I would love it if this will be revised! With jonaxx's current way of writing, I think Chase And Heart will be a hit.
At first, I was doubting this one could still pass my taste since I am super duper mega graduate on old wattpad jeje era and I read this hoping my reading slump for months will fade (it did naman) :)). If you are someone who is totally a sucker for something easy, fluffy and chill read... A cringe in a feel good way, then, i think this is for you.
My present self doesn't actually felt attach but the younger self in me felt the nostalgia. Jonaxx wrote it years ago as a young writer starting her career so the way of writing Is actually understandable but tbh, I wasn't that hooked so much and I felt cringe the way it made me felt it was boring. I don't find any major character development in the story yet they are adorable and consistent to their characteristics. No qoutes or scene I am so attatch with.
I just find every chapters fun and rent free to me yet most of them made me cringe all the way. Not my cup of tea as a preference in writing anymore but it was a good story. The plot had me but I expected more intriguing yet I got none hahaha. For beginners, I would recommend this one but if you are not into cringe scenes or smth then please not this. This would be more good if Ate J would re-write this because the plot was interesting within two broken people meeting each other and with her writing skills now, the plot would be more amazing. That's all.
Plot: The plot is too cliché, the “I can buy you, your friends, and this world” kind of trope. But this story was created back in the early 2010s.
Pacing: Compared to the first two books of the Jimenez Series, this one has the right pacing. There are no unnecessary plots or scenes, and the story flows perfectly.
Lines: Hahaha, I found some lines and wording that are sooo cringe. Mind you, this was written by the young Jonaxx, and comparing it to her writing now, I can say she has truly grown as a writer.
All in all: I love how Jonaxx created Chase Martin. This man feels like he’s from the future. During the peak of Casanova and obsessed male leads on Wattpad (not that I have a problem with them 😂 I love those stories too), Chase Martin stands out by being ideal and realistic man, giving assurance to Eli. I also love how Jonaxx highlights how they handle their relationship, clearly showing the age gap between the two. Eli is an anxious lover, she needs constant reassurance. While, Chase Martin is secure. Given that, they balance each other well.
Like what I said, Chase is so ideal (for me): a man who acknowledges his jealousy, says sorry for being possessive, assures you that there’s no other woman, validates your feelings, addresses problems, and ultimately chooses you. Definitely a green flag.
I've read this a long time ago and I bought a copy from the recent Manila International Book Fair to see if I would still like it.
I tried my best to read the book objectively and fall in love with it like I did when I first read it on Wattpad.
I liked the concept of a sheltered girl trying to take control of her life after experiencing heartbreak, but her sheltered upbringing didn't feel convincing. First, FMC didn't know what's Turon??!!?!?! I'm certain that rich kids weren't that... ignorant. A luxury resort even sells Turon, and surely, her yayas would've exposed her to staple Filipino snacks?
Also, the casual use of limousines? That wasn't convincing at all. I'm so sorry! Even nepo babies wouldn't casually show up in limo, their family drivers probably drive Land Rovers or Benz?
One more thing, the setting was in Cebu but none of the characters speak Cebuano, which can be easily translated. And I agree with the others that some of the lines sounded cringey. I'm so sorry!
I'm actually torn about finishing the book, but I did. I liked the special chapter. However, the overall feel of the book is too Wattpad in a sense that the narrative didn't develop into something more convincing.

It was year 2013 when I first read this and now that Jonaxx had published this book with Mpress, I decided to re-read this again. My younger self would probably love and give this a much higher rating, but since my preferences are constantly changing as I age, I have to give a 3-star rating.
If you read this story now, it's kinda jeje but it's understandable because this book was written decades ago. It brings me back to the old era, clichè stories when Wattpad was really hyped back then. Chase and Hearts is a light-read, fun, and cringey sweet book. It's fun reading this kind of story again--this is just one of the books that made us expect too much on love when were still young and the reason why we began having high standards in men.
It's beautiful to witness Jonaxx's improvement in writing and even though this piece was a long time ago, you would really appreciate and commend Jonah's writing skills, because it brings nostalgia to my younger self.
It was a cliche YA book but it was good and an easy read. Tho there are a few parts that are cringey 😬.
I didn’t like how both Chase and Eliana dealt with their exes. Eliana was too soft at rejecting Yuan that it comes off that she was still kinda giving him false hope and Chase was too trusting with Ophelia and I didn’t really liked that he tried to get Eliana be cool with his ex. WHAT FOR???
It's kinda flopped for me, I think because I kinda read lots of story from Jonaxx that is recent so the writing and plot of it is more delicate. I also had a standard in reading and I cringe a lot but its bearable. The plot is not that worst but not that shocking, if your a Jonaxx reading you will know that this story is a stereotype of her plots.
Before anything else, I have to admit my rating for this book is very biased—C&H holds a special place in my heart. So, I’m giving it 3 stars and a heart 💞. But if I’m being objective, it probably deserves 2 stars. It’s not a terrible book, but it was written a decade ago by a very young Jonaxx, so its flaws are understandable. My younger self loved it, and even now, I still feel attached to it. It’s a very nostalgic read.
Honestly, I was nervous to revisit the book version, knowing it was written during the “jeje” era. I was afraid I wouldn’t enjoy it anymore, especially since Jonaxx’s writing has improved so much since then. Objectively, the narration isn’t great, and the plot is quite light.
"In this world, you can't go after the one you love without hurting anyone. I know that. But right now, I've realized another truth... In this world, you can't love without getting hurt."
I’ve always liked this quote, and I didn’t even remember it came from Chase and Hearts until now.
The book is a light, easy read with adorable characters. Even though it’s a bit cringey at times and clearly shows its age, I still enjoyed it. It makes me want to revisit the other books in the Jimenez series, which I also loved.
This is what our happy ending looks like. Me and my hearts
I especially enjoyed the special chapter, and it made me happy to meet their children, Reid and Eleanore.
I don't know kung pang ilang story na 'to ni Jonaxx na nabasa ko but as expected this one is so good too.
The story revolves around the two characters namely; Eliana and Chase. Eliana was a rich, homeschooled and overly protected girl who decided to runaway from home and decided to have a new life from a new city. On starting her new life she wanted to live simple and independently. Which brings her to find a job while studying that later on becomes the reason for her and Chase meet.
Chase was a businessman and a reputable bachelor. Eliana becomes his secretary after his mother decided to completely handover to him their company. That situation becomes a bridge for them to be more close to each other.
Like any other stories, their love story wouldn't be more exciting or intense without a villain (char) - their exes.
This book will never make you bored as it will make you to go on. This brings me so much kilig and I just notice that most of jgirls are into modeling or always been casted for it. Or maybe it just the stories I've read so far. Nevertheless this was a good read for me.

The story was really good! It felt lighthearted and gave off that fun, kilig vibe—like a classic teen story you just enjoy flipping through. I honestly loved watching Eliana grow. Her character development hit me hard—from a sheltered girl to someone strong, independent, and brave. And don’t even get me started on Chase... he’s literally the definition of a gentleman! 🥺💖
Binasa ko ulit... Hindi ko itatanggi, na-enjoy ko naman basahin—but the thing is, I find Chase sort of predatory. 😖 Pagdating sa mga phrasing ni Chase towards Eli na 19 year old?
