A assassin over the top possessive alpha male who loves the heroine so much that he gives her everything 🔥 YES SIR ⚡️
It's been more than a month since I last read a mafia romance featuring a hero who was so obsessed and wanted the heroine so deeply… and treated her exactly the way she deserved! I'm really happy I came across this book. I've never read anything by this author before, but now they've definitely made it onto my favorites list 👀😙
There are so many positive (GREEN FLAGS) signs about the hero and their love story, so I definitely recommend sticking around to read the full review 😙😙
Right from the start, you can see the hero is already there for the heroine at her workplace, a bar. She’s a hardworking woman doing her job, and he’s (the hero) paying close attention to her, even looking out for her. The story has a bit of a slow burn, but it’s not too slow, so you won’t get bored while enjoying this sweet and steamy romance 😉 Their chemistry and connection spark right away in the beginning, which was really enjoyable to watch unfold.
OKAY SO… the story starts with the heroine is working at night and we can see the heroine have some nasty guys try to flirt with her but she immediately rejected them… then one guy asked her out but she declined it and walked away. The hero immediately asks her what the other guy said to her and the hero tries to flirt with her a bit here. She said no to him and walked away. Then we can see the hero after that, he admits to always look out for her at the bar because she’s very beautiful. He’s been at the bar for i think couple of weeks since he saw the heroine😅 he just sit there and watching the heroine all the time… he doesn’t even drink alcohol but he drinks a liquor because he needs to order something and give the heroine the big tip.
After the heroine said no, the hero secretly follow her to where she goes. I think that is the first time he actually followed her to her house though… when he was following her, there was a drug addict guy stopped the heroine and threatened her with a knife. He wants money…
The hero immediately take action! 🚀 he helped the heroine by hurting the guy and threatening him to not ever do that again to the heroine… the guy runs away and they finally see eye to eye. They talked and they have a little steamy hot negotiation 👀👀
This is where the heroine and hero start to develop their chemistry, little by little. From the very beginning, the heroine has feelings for the hero, though not as strong as his feelings for her 🥺 The hero, on the other hand, is deeply into her, LIKE VERY INTO HER 👀 even if at first his reasons are a bit misguided 😂 he thinks it’s just lust and not something romantic 🤣
But pretty quickly, he realizes that she’s truly the one for him 💜💜 It didn’t take him long to come to that understanding, and he recognizes this before they become intimate 😙

At first, I found the hero a bit hard to figure out because he’s not the easiest person to understand 😅 he is like (if i can picture him in a similar character) he is like Eli King’s little brother Creighton from rina kent but more safer than cray cray… cray cray goes to orgy places sometimes, not this hero! 😅
The hero, his own family even says that he is different. The way he thinks is different and the way he communicates with them is different ~ But despite all that, he’s quite the charming gentleman, especially when it comes to the heroine… He’s definitely complicated, but not in an overwhelming way 😁 he’s just different in a really good way! not childish or anything like that!
Initially, he was serious about wanting the heroine, but not seriously thinking about being her boyfriend because he thought it was just a moment of lust 😆 However, over time, he became genuinely obsessed with her… more than she expected… He grew more into her and loved her for who she truly is ❤️ That initial lust turned into something very serious for him, and within just a few days, she became his whole world. Like literally she became his everything and his soul focus… He is more focus on her than on himself…
The narrative unfolds at a deliberate pace (SLOW BURN). however, in my view, this gradual development is both romantic and endearing 💙
Although the protagonist and his brothers resemble a mafia family, the depiction of mafia elements in this story is engaging, straightforward, and easy to comprehend 😍
Often, mafia romance narratives include scenes that are neither enjoyable nor sensible to read 🥲 In contrast, this particular story presents a lighter portrayal of mafia life, devoid of heavy or overly complex mafia-related content, which I find preferable…

Even tho sometimes she can be a bit insecure but it’s not too much… i also love that she’s very friendly and welcoming to the hero’s brothers from the start..

The hero is surprisingly so honest person, he is impulsive sometimes in his actions and words (which the heroine at first was shock and thought it was bad but then she grew to love that so much for the good reasons). The hero is a assassin and always do the dirty work things for his family, like watching other people to know their secrets and hidden agenda stuff like that ~ He doesn’t kill all the time tho, just when the job or the opportunity present itself… And also he is a duke 👀
The hero definitely has that badass vibe, but when it comes to relationships, he’s actually a total green flag 💚💚
He doesn’t drink or smoke, never goes to sex clubs, and hasn’t had many ex-girlfriends. His family and himself never said that he have a ex in the past 👀 Even his own family says that a lot of girls tend to run away because he looks intimidating. He’s not the type to sleep around at all! So he is not a (drum roll please) NOT A MANWHOR3!
This is so rare these days of a mafia scary looking dude like this hero to not be a manwhor3. And it annoys me that many authors like to make the heroes such a playboy when that actually is disgusting… so glad this hero right here is great one!
His personality is really cool actually.. he is genuine, and always like to be honest about everything and always said the first thing that comes up to his mind.. and he became more softer cause of the heroine 🥺 he became more closer even to his family because of the heroine’s effect on him ❤️

Types of book that I’m looking for: SAFE, safe all the way from the beginning till the end🥵 No cheating, no unnecessary childish drama. Not too much OW DRAMA cause they are loud and annoying lol. NO to still having feelings about a ex especially wants go get back together tf no. NO to friends with benefits and still seeing other people type of sh*t. NO to hero or heroine who said i love you and have been obsessed but still likes to fvck around yeah big NO to that sh*t. NOOO to still married or still in a relationship with someone else while liking the main character, yeah they have to be single since the beginning. NOOO to a long separation and have someone else they have s3x with during the separation. NOO to too many times of separation and breaking up sh*t. NOO to toxic narcissistic characters.

Types of book that I’m looking for: SAFE, safe all the way from the beginning till the end🥵 No cheating, no unnecessary childish drama. Not too much OW DRAMA cause they are loud and annoying lol. NO to still having feelings about a ex especially wants go get back together tf no. NO to friends with benefits and still seeing other people type of sh*t. NO to hero or heroine who said i love you and have been obsessed but still likes to fvck around yeah big NO to that sh*t. NOOO to still married or still in a relationship with someone else while liking the main character, yeah they have to be single since the beginning. NOOO to a long separation and have someone else they have s3x with during the separation. NOO to too many times of separation and breaking up sh*t. NOO to toxic narcissistic characters.
I preferred the characters are loyal to the core, over the top possessive heroes since the beginning and never stops, main characters have unique jobs or talents, the hero adores and obsessed with the heroine so much, the hero fell harder for the heroine and don’t want let her go and fight for her. And most importantly EPILOGUE AND ESPECIALLY THE DECADES LATER SCENE…. HAPPY ENDING IS A MUST. Chemistry is a must too 🙏🏼

Fml, this book did not do it for me. I tried, I really did — but it ended up straight in my DNF pile. The plot was cheesy as hell, painfully predictable, and made me roll my eyes more times than I care to admit.
The characters? They react like aliens impersonating humans — nothing made sense, emotionally or logically. And the insta-everything? Insta-love, insta-lust, insta-drama, insta-trauma. I swear they blinked at each other and were suddenly soulmates. I need some build-up, please.
I know this book has fans, but sadly I am not one of them. Give me spice with substance, not just a plot held together with cliché glue.

Although it says Book 1 in the series, I was confused most of the time. There was a lot of background that was missing from this story. Aside from that, it was very simple and predictable. It definitely lacked the "depravity" that the name alludes to. I somehow managed to like Killian a lot, which accounts for my 3 stars.
Chloe Baros (22-ish, virgin, waitress, art student) works at a high-end bar. Tips are big but usually come with handsy clients. For the past several weeks, there's been a dark, dangerous man who sits in the corner and watches her.
Lord Killian Smith (36, family enforcer) is obsessed with the sexy waitress at the bar, but his main reason for being there is to spy.
Despite her objections, Kill inserts himself into Chloe's life in the most amusing ways....
Both Killian and Chloe have trauma from their pasts, Chloe is attacked a few times, her and Kill grow close, job revelations and consequences, turf wars, Chloe questions her decisions, sibling fights, a farewell for safety purposes, a family secret, and then an HFN.

An easy read and I like Chloe and Killian but there are so many inaccuracies - English Lords are not called Killian, this is an Irish name and his siblings haven’t got English names either.
Their surname Smith is the least ‘regal’ name in the UK. It’s the most common surname in the country.
Also the use of ‘luv’ didn’t fit, it’s too common for someone brought up as a Lord attending private schools - darling, sweetie, my love would have been a better fit.
He is also Lord Smith (Surname) or Lord ‘English estate name’ not Lord Killian and she won’t be Lady Killian.

This is a solid 3.5 ⭐️ mafia-light dark romance. A fun, quick, spicy read.
- Chloe is an art student/artist working as a waitress at a Las Vegas nightclub when she gets tangled up in a mess between two (3?) rival families. At the same time, Killian Smith, the somewhat unhinged enforcer for a wealthy real estate family takes an interest in her and engages in some “light” stalking, following her home for a couple nights in a row and inviting himself into her bedroom. From there they quickly become equally obsessed. These are two hurt and broken people who find each other.
- No third act breakup
- Communication - these two easily communicate all their feelings from the beginning.
- Genuine care and affection between the two MCs. The painting she paints for him. 🥹 He has a tattoo of the universe on his body because he thinks he’s a black hole, meanwhile she paints the same scene (and him) the way she sees him.
- No OM/OW drama. It’s explicitly stated that he doesn’t date or mess around. She is a virgin after being abused (not sexually) by her step father. There is some Russian mafia guy who takes an interest in her and causes some trouble (attempted SA). Killian takes care of him.
- Spice - it’s a bit of a slow burn, but also the chemistry is on fire from the beginning.
- Dual POV, HEA. Wedding in epilogue. 1 yr later extended epilogue, still crazy in love and having her first art show.

Her “monster” to protect her from everyone else. She has an abusive past and is slow to trust, especially controlling men. These mutually traumatic pasts allow themselves to see each other clearly. He responds to her acceptance and warmth and it is the reason for their quick bond. He would quickly burn down the world for her. Theres a lot of cute care and chat between them - he sits and watches her paint, makes her food, washes her. She speaks to him so lovingly and carefully so he knows that she sees his goodness. She paints him the portrait showing her feelings.
Plus there’s action, mafia shenanigans, some unaliving, etc.
Why not 5 ⭐️: This isn’t going to win any awards for great literature, but it doesn’t need to. Overall, it’s a fun relatively low angst read with a plot that pulls you along.

So I started this book at 1am with one thought only- please keep me awake long enough to make sure my daughter is home for her curfew. Well it kept me awake, also hooked me right in and I ended up reading it in one sitting and was still awake when the sun rose.
I really enjoyed this. Chloe is a waitress and Killian had been watching her for a little while becoming more and more intrigued by her. He’s obsessed from the get go and Chloe tried to resist a tiny bit but he’s one of those fun bulldozing psychos who’s ready to burn the world down, disown his family and take down anyone who is a danger to Chloe. I loved him 🥰 I really liked Chloe too.
The timeline was insane they were dropping ‘I love yous’ in less than a week but I love Instalove so I was eating it up!
I was going to give it 5⭐️ because I’ve been in a wee slump this week and just binge reading novellas and this really grabbed my attention but there was a few little things that brought the rating down for me- first was the spelling of the word ‘cum’ idk why but this is just an ick for me. Second was they started having sex with absolutely no mention of birth control at all. She was a virgin and he wasn’t and he didn’t assure her he was clean or usually used condoms or what- another ick for me. Although he wasn’t a manwhore at all, even his brothers mentioned he never dated and didn’t know the last time he hooked up and his behaviour and feelings for Chloe were so new and different for him. I loved this, I love when the h is super special in every way 🥰

This was a meh for me. I gave it two stars because it didn’t make me DNF but I also really didn’t love it. It was insta love and the whole story took place with in a month (if you count Tristan’s epilogue). The over all main story was all within a week or two. It just felt lacking overall for me.

This book started out almost exactly like the first book in the Kinkaid intertwined series. I hate when authors recycle plot points to this degree: struggling female college student has to wait tables to make ends meet, gets into trouble and is saved by the big bad boy. The description of the male lead being tall, intimidating, cold, muscle-bound with a sharp jaw and crook in his nose, is the same as well, the only difference being the tattoos. Seriously, change it up more than that. Make a distinguishing feature of the male lead something different than a crook in his nose and uber masculinity; how about the intensity of his eyes or his smirk or a chipped tooth, something different for Pete's sake. Sure a female lead that's a college student working as a waitress, is common enough, but how about one that's from a happy family or is a regular well-adjusted gal, or has graduated and is working while job hunting for a position outside of Vegas? Just stop with the cookie cutter crap. If they're all the same, we lose interest pretty quick, like by page 19.

i can get past a lot and even skim read just to finish if a book gets too cheesy but this one was a DNF. he’s a killer but asks her “in your heart of hearts what would your dream job be” like what lol he’s not supposed to be this touchy feely nice guy. Plus they would go from serious conversation to instant smut scene.. just made no sense. waaay to many brothers to keep track of and the mafia aspect was a stretch (did i mention a helicopter gun battle that no one ever says is impossible- set place in some random vegas suburb) that’s when it was over for me.
i can get past a lot and even skim read just to finish if a book gets too cheesy but this one was a DNF. he’s a killer but asks her “in your heart of hearts what would your dream job be” like what lol he’s not supposed to be this touchy feely nice guy. Plus they would go from serious conversation to instant smut scene.. just made no sense. waaay to many brothers to keep track of and the mafia aspect was a stretch (did i mention a helicopter gun battle that no one ever says is impossible- set place in some random vegas suburb) that’s when it was over for me.

DNF i have no idea why this book has received so much praise it literally started with the guy SA’ing the girl. he wants to claim he’s not like other guys and gets jealous and protective when those guys are inappropriate to her, but he literally does the same thing?? im all for dark romance but this wasn’t even dark or romance it was just creepy insta-lust from a guy who forced himself on a girl who said NO multiple times.

It wasn’t the darkest mafia romance I’ve read, but it’s definitely one of my favorites in a long time. I absolutely adored Killian, and yes, I loved every single one of his red flags.
The pacing was fast, but it worked perfectly for the story. Honestly, I think it would’ve taken me even less time than Chloe to fall for Killian.
