Robert Kirkman is an American comic book writer best known for his work on The Walking Dead, Invincible for Image Comics, as well as Ultimate X-Men and Marvel Zombies for Marvel Comics. He has also collaborated with Image Comics co-founder Todd McFarlane on the series Haunt. He is one of the five partners of Image Comics, and the only one of the five who was not one of the original co-founders of that publisher.
Robert Kirkman's first comic books were self-published under his own Funk-o-Tron label. Along with childhood friend Tony Moore, Kirkman created Battle Pope which was published in late 2001. Battle Pope ran for over 2 years along with other Funk-o-Tron published books such as InkPunks and Double Take.
In July of 2002, Robert's first work for another company began, with a 4-part SuperPatriot series for Image, along with Battle Pope backup story artist Cory Walker. Robert's creator-owned projects followed shortly thereafter, including Tech Jacket, Invincible and Walking Dead.
Got this in a blind bag and loved it! Foil variant! Beautiful art, fun story, bloody gory fights. Solid story line… just simply fun… if that sounds good to you check it out. I loved it
The Colossus? Pfft. Try the Juggernaut instead. Before Battle Beast can make his way to his death (don't ask if you don't know), a little Blood Games stop-off might be just the hit he needs.
I know nothing of the Invincible series. I don't want to relate everything through the lens of Sword-&-Sorcery since that's what I like a lot but this Dornian warrior really would make for a good beastly character in an ancient area with zero technologies, or at least not so advanced as to make it Sword-&-Planet. Even so, this second issue has my full attention. The brutality is extreme but the humor prevents it from being a brooding read (which could work also). A Star-Trekish background crew with an alien genitalia connoisseur is one example of the wit at play, but more so the back-and-forth between grim Battle Beast and glory-seeking Prince Salaka.
Ryan Ottley's art is entertaining. Robert Kirkman's tale is an adventure of blood.
Hahahaha, YES! This series continues to remain bloody glorious! The art and the story continue to astound me and once again I can’t wait for the next issue! In this issue we find battle beast with the ship who hates him and the chopped up former ruler he got from the body from the colossus last issue. they are currently on his way to his next fight in ab attempt to kill him…except the ship lied and has actually been drifting into space in an attempt to kill him by starving him! Battle beast can only laugh, that would never work. He would sooner launch himself into space and be picked up before that could possible happen. But that’s when the scrambling crawling former ruler has an idea that would benefit all of them. When he was overthrown it was done by the colossus and his SISTER, the sister that eventually defeated him and trapped him in the cosmic nail. That could be battle beast’s next fight and possible death and it would allow him to return to his home world. But there is one more problem, he would rather not return to his homeworld in a near devoured state, maybe they can find a place to fix him up first? Battle beast is hesitant, but there ship found a place nearby and he needs more weapons anyway.
That brings is to a very cool space station and marketplace, where battle beast is actually spotted by a very official looking person who seems to know who he is and wants to take him down. More on that later, as for now battle beast finds the tech shop that could suit the former ruler up…but in order to afford the expensive parts they need for a full body job he would have to win the blood games to be able to afford it. HEH…did you say…blood games? Hilariously the only in tact images of the guys he defeats and rips apart in the blood games can be found on the cover. Finally battle beast gets to the final round where he fights a being known as the unknown, who has a very similar backstory to battle beast’s. He is also looking for a worthy death in combat. And it seems today battle beast will be the one to deliver it!
Unknown: “My limited are unknown! My power is unknown! I am unknown!”
Battle beast: “Your weaknesses are known. Your limits are known. Your demise—very known!”
As battle beast gloriously slams down and rips the unknown apart, he is surprised to find a normal man inside. Suddenly a bunch of characters right out of Star Trek run over and congratulate him on his victory and ask him to put their friend down. Turns out he has been afflicted by a “vengeance phase,” a cocoon state that his kind enters to prepare for later life. B her battle beast doesn’t really care, he wants his reward! And with that battle beast was able to buy a bunch of new weapons and a cybernetic upgrade for the former prince. As the gear to leave suddenly the ship finds that they cannot, and that they are locked in a tractor beam! As the issue comes to an end, they are completely surrounded by the magistrates of the twin galaxies. They have finally caught up to the scourge of the twin galaxies and now intend to arrest and bring him back for trial and execution! Of course the ship was also the one to help tip them off about his presence here…solely because it hates him, lol. WHELP, guess we get to see battle beast rip apart a bunch of ships next issue, lol. Can’t wait!

Just read the ultra rare advance edition of Battle Beast and… RAHHH. This thing goes beyond.
Battle Beast is cool as fuck, pure violence, no hesitation, no mercy. Watching him tear through everything in the Blood Games? It’s like watching a god of war unleashed. The pacing is nonstop, the art is still insanely crisp, and the sheer brutality is addicting. Every panel hits like a war drum.
This edition feels like a deeper dive into what makes Battle Beast that guy. If you're even slightly into savage anti heroes or beautifully brutal combat, this is must read territory.

Loved how they carried it on this way that battle beast has got a heart but a force to be reckoned with looking around the galaxy for a worthy opponent beating up and killing anyone in his way just to find a person better then himself then fighting helping people out among the way but next comic coming out really excited for
A nice issue that progresses the story while also having amazing art like holy shit. I’m so happy Battle Beast has this series cause it’s been such a great seeing his blood fights again.
he deadass just here to throw hands. I’m really liking this direction this story is going in and I’m enjoying all of the vastly unique character designs that are in this run so far!
