Penelope is a Seattle-based photojournalist who dreams of one day taking to the road with a band to document their every move.

Marcus is the lead singer, manager, and mastermind behind the industrial metal band Attack Ships On Fire (ASOF).

Perpetually self-conscious in a rock n' roll world of size 0 groupies, Penelope is a curvy girl who is just trying to pursue her dreams without being judged for the size of her jeans.

A veteran of the music scene and now in his thirties, Marcus is looking for something more than a cheap f*** with a brainless bimbo.

Emma Rose's "Alpha Rockstar" may not be the BDSM tryst that its title alludes, but it is a solid, fun, sexy and romantic read for any gal who has ever been in love with a musician, his band or just rock n' roll in general. In a fairly realistic take on the world of heavy metal, Ms. Rose creates well-rounded characters with real insecurities who are simply trying to find something more amidst the chaos of backstage. While this has been tauted as a work of BBW erotica, I would simply say that Penelope is nothing more than a real woman in an unrealistic environment. Centered around a strong female character who grabs life by the metal horns, "Alpha Rockstar" is a truly fun, quick read for anyone who might occassionally feel the need to shout at the devil. (Bad Motley Crue pun, sorry.)

I received a reviewer's copy of this book from Bit'N Tours in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's blog tour promotions.

I don't read many books with heroines who are plus sized. This is kind of refreshing. I am a big girl myself, so I like reading about women who are as real as me. Most books always feature skinny, sexy women or women who have curves, but they never mention just how curvy she is. This book as a heroine who's pretty heavy.

Of course, she faces the stereotypes and remarks from people. However, she is brave and confident and comfortable with herself. I like that. The hero was a reclusive rockstar, very much unlike his onstage persona. Together, they kind of click. I liked the two of them together right away.

The biggest thing I like the least about this book was that it was too short. Moreover, it ended before something really exciting happened. The only highlight was when the heroine joined the hero and his band on their tour bus as the band's photographer.

I wish that more things would have happened before they got to the point where the hero asked the heroine to join him and his crew. However, I would still say that I liked this book because of the promise it held. Right now, I just want to read on and see what happens next.

Not your typical rock star, but in a really good way! I received this book as a member of Emma Rose's Street Team for an honest review. This is part one of the story where Penelope meets Marcus as part of her job as a photographer for a local paper. There is a crazy turn of events and she ends up going on tour with this band. For how short it is, I really felt a connection with both Marcus and Penelope. I am looking forward to seeing where it goes next! 3.5 Stars!

** I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

'Alpha Rockstar' was a good quick read. I enjoyed the storyline. Penelope was a great character, plus she isn't the typical blond, blue eyed perfect ten type. That's what I liked. The story played out well. Well written. A great start to a great series. As with all Emma Rose's work, I loved it. A great add to your tbr list.

Blurb - She's reaching for a lifelong dream.
Penelope has made a living taking concert photos for the newspaper entertainment section, but her dreams are much bigger.
She dreams of getting close with a rock and roll band and taking pictures of everything, immersing herself in the rock and roll lifestyle.
He's searching for a life beyond the stage.
She gets her chance when a band on tour invites her to join them for a few weeks, but Penelope has reservations... Is she being invited along because they want a photographer, or because Marcus (the quiet yet attractive lead singer) wants to sleep with her?
And what would she say if he tried?

My Thoughts - This is a feel good, sexy short read. Penelope is a 'normal, run of the mill' young woman who happens to be curvy with a witty persona.
For years, Penelope has been ridiculed for her weight issues ever since school and in my opinion it is why she chose photography, so she could enjoy life without actually 'being apart of it'.
This is a great story that was easy to follow and was a great little quick read. I couldn't help be like the characters throughout the story even though there were the typical 'judgemental' people who couldn't work out why the lead singer from a band would like 'someone' like Penelope.
It showed that no matter what you look like, love can happen anywhere, at any time.
Penelope has been given an amazing opportunity to both fill a life long dream of following and photographing a band while on tour and is also the 'main attraction' for singer.
If you like a short story set outs (this is a story over three books, in my opinion similar to the 'novella' style) a perfect plot/storyline, that is both easy to follow and enjoy, then this is something for you.
I will however, inform you that it would not be suitable for anyone under 18 as there is a lot of sexual content involved. I say get in the 'valentine-kink-romance' fever by reading this. There's nothing in relation to BDSM in this book, so if you want to try a 'erotic' style book with an actual plot then this is the one for you!
Enjoy! And here's hoping you have had a great Valentines Day.

My Rating - I rate this book a 4 out of 5. It was an amazing book but I am unwilling to give the full 5 out of 5 mark as I was only given the opportunity to review the first book to the 'Alpha Rock star' series.
I would most definitely be happy to read the whole series to see how the story and the characters develop.

Alpha Rockstar by Emma Rose is definitely an enjoyable, and interesting read – Especially given the music scene she’s chosen to feature is one that I very much love! Some of the back stage antics and descriptions had me chuckling to myself, as they’re so very accurate (especially the Industrial Cybergoth groupies) and the band members themselves who make up ‘Attack Ships on Fire’ are a pretty close-knit bunch, even Marcus, who tends to keep himself to himself.

Penelope is a likeable character, who knows what she wants and works hard to get it, but the only thing I found rather irksome about her is the way she constantly bemoans the fact that she’s a ‘larger than average’ lady.

*spoiler alert*

Nevertheless, Alpha Rockstar is an enjoyable Rock N Roll Romp, and I’ll definitely be checking out the rest of the books to see if Marcus and Penelope can each achieve their dreams and desires.
Three-and-a-half out of five!

This was an entertaining short story.

Anyone who enjoys music and rock stars would definitely relate to and be envious of the main character Penelope. She is a photographer who gets to go backstage and front row of concerts to get her shots. Her dream is to go on tour with a band to write a book about life on the road of a band and get pictures of them doing every day things.

This was a great idea for a story but I think it could have been developed a little further. There were a couple of situations that seemed to come out of nowhere. I would have liked to see more of a story with these to make the situations seem a little more believable that it could happen.

The book didn’t end with a cliffhanger but definitely left the reader knowing that there is another book to continue the story. I would like to continue reading this series to see what happens next.

Penelope dreams of going on tour and taking the behind the scenes photos of a band. But she is stuck in a low paying job for the newspaper getting the shots only available at concerts. So when she is invited by rockstar Marcus to go on tour with the band, she has reservations but ultimately goes with them on tour. She is a bigger girl and the bandmates seem to think that the only reason she's on the tour is because she's a woman & Marcus wants her. But their relationship develops as the two become friends and they realize they are a good match.
First in a series, set up well for future books. Not terribly memorable.

BBW photographer meets lead singer of heavy metal band while on a job for a local Seattle paper.

They go out for drinks and he asks her to come on tour with them for 3 weeks. Hesitantly she agrees... it's her dream and Marcus is hot and appears to be attracted to her. They start to get to know each other and she gives him a blow job.

And that's it. There are two more books, so perhaps there's more. He hasn't shown any real alpha tendencies either. In fact, she was the aggressor in that bj scenario.

Flat start as I really need more from him and I haven't seen it yet.

I quite enjoyed this short story, the characters were intriguing but overall it was too short. I appreciate that there are some more books in the series but I find it frustrating when a story stops dead just as it is getting interesting. I'd like to see how Marcus and Penelope's relationship develops.
