I’ve always been intrigued by dreams, that mysterious territory where the unconscious quietly takes over. I picked up Quantum Dreaming at the MIT Bookstore; the fancy title alone pulled me into this petite reading .It explores the idea that modern rational thinking may have distanced us from the dream, centered, imaginative side of the mind.
Drawing on thinkers like Leonard Shlain, it reflects on how literacy and linear thinking may have shifted human consciousness away from imagery, dreaming, and intuitive knowledge. As Shlain writes in The Alphabet Versus the Goddess, the rise of alphabetic literacy marked a shift from right-brain dominance , associated with imagery and dreaming, to the left-brain’s linear activity of reading and writing, creating what he calls a kind of cerebral imbalance. In the wake of this shift, our sense of belonging to a single dreaming universe may have been lost.
Yes… apparently the letters are to blame. I knew it. 😂
And finally, the most unexpectedly, scientifically romantic sentence hidden in a book that explores dreams in a quantum field and even wanders into dark matters, here it is 😂 “ - What is the map of the heart ? -……If the dimensions are X, Y, and Z , the fourth is U.”❤️
