A tea witch, a masked rogue, and a love rekindled.
Willow Evermere, a clever tea witch with a knack for brewing truth into every cup, loses the love of her life. Despite believing her romance is over, she continues forth and opens a tea shop. When rumors swirl that the infamous masked mercenary known as the Ember Fox is actually her long-lost love, she embarks on a journey to uncover the truth.
Tristan Ashford was once just a humble storyteller, spinning campfire tales to make Willow smile. Now, he’s a rogue-for-hire, tangled in a dangerous game of courtly intrigue and magical secrets. Fate reunites them once more. Tristan is determined to protect Willow from the peril that follows him, but she’s never been one to sit on the sidelines.
From enchanted forests to hidden castles, from whispered promises over steaming cups of tea to passionate embraces under starry skies, their love story unfolds with all the charm of a fireside tale.
Will love be enough to rewrite their ending?
Tea Whispers & Campfire Legends is book seven in The Enchanted Woods Cottagecore Collection.
Perfect for fans of The Princess Bride, Legends & Lattes, Half a Soul, and Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Fairies, Tea Whispers & Campfire Legends is an enchanting tale with slow-burn tension, laugh-out-loud banter, and the kind of kisses that make legends.
This was a fun, light read, and overall, I did enjoy.
I did like the characters and the plot, but I felt that the story was just surface level. I wanted a deeper dive into everything, although I did like the authors writing style.
Fun premise for this one! Similar to the scenario in The Princess Bride. Willow thinks her love is dead, but new information seems to point to him being alive. Willow sets out on a journey to find him, but there’s danger afoot! She crosses paths with Ember Fox; a man with a less than stellar reputation. Ember is not fully sure of the situation she finds herself in, but she feels as if she’s on the right track. Willow has a strong sense of herself and is a tough lady. A sweet romantic scenario ensues! An entertaining adventure! Enjoyed the writing style and the fantasy world.
This was a sweet princess bride retelling, with mutual pining, hidden identity, a runaway unwilling bride, and tackling a corrupt villain. I loved Willow's passion, determination and quick thinking with brewing teas to get them out of trouble. The dual pov helps showcase Willow and Tristan's thoughts, especially with him hiding behind his alias the ember fox, and being on the run. I enjoyed all the conflicted feelings, then tackling danger together, and uncovering the villanous schemes.
I really enjoyed this Princess Bride retelling. Willow was such a fun FMC. I loved her determination and her ability to think quickly in order to solve any issues she ran into. I also enjoyed seeing her developing feelings fir the Ember Fox, even before she knew for certain who he was. The story was well paced and engaging.
a bit disappointing... this is a "princess bride" retelling and it has a lot of potential. But unfortunately it felt very unpolished and unfinished. The villain didn't even feel like a villain because we literally learned nothing about him. So there was no tension to the plot. especially adding in that the FMC, knew who the MMC was. so there wasn't a big reveal either . there was definitely a lot more that could have been explored and added depth. So sadly the best way I can describe this story is "meh.." 🫤
Thank you to the author for the ARC! “Tea Whispers and Campfire Legends” is available now.
I am so confused by this book.
When tea witch Willow is informed that, despite her wishes, she’ll be marrying an awful nobleman, she runs. The only man she ever loved left her years ago, and she has no interest in starting over. A subsequent encounter with a masked rogue leaves her wondering if maybe her love isn’t so far after all.
I’m still not sure how I feel. Honestly, I made it through the first 30% of the story before I could tell whether I wanted to finish it or not. Every so often, I caught myself wondering if I wanted to keep going. Obviously I did, but I’m still conflicted.
First of all, this story states itself to be inspired by The Princess Bride. And it reads as such. Now, depending on how you feel about that movie, you may already know everything you need to know about this story. I happen to love the movie; it’s one of my all-time favorites and a major comfort watch. With that in mind, I wavered between “oh no, they did the movie dirty” and “aww that’s so perfect for the vibes!”
In the “this was solid work” department, the banter. It’s incredible. The MCs are hilarious, they’re snarky, and they absolutely land the flippant, irreverent tone one might expect. They play well off of each other, and I found myself laughing multiple times.
The side characters are also well done. They had enough of a spin on the OGs to make them unique, but they never lost the absurd charm (or vileness, depending on the character). Even the characters who only showed up for a few lines were interesting and made me want to see more of them.
The world-building was middling, but not for the reasons you might think. The actual descriptions were phenomenal. The imagery was vivid, and I could easily have spent more time in any of the locations. But therein lies the problem– time. We don’t really spend any significant amount of time anywhere. It’s a fast-paced story, but it’s not been regulated to fit “book” pacing; it reads more like fast “movie” pacing. This could just be because of the mental overlap with the movie, but I never felt like we got to settle in and get a feel for the world.
That might be the biggest problem overall. Everything feels either underdeveloped or overshot. We get no sense of the characters beyond the page. No development, no exposition that would make them more real, no feel for how they were before the story kicks off. The leaps in logic and emotion, the honestly frantic pacing. You never get a chance to connect with the characters. Even the ending didn’t quite hit. It reached what felt like a natural conclusion and then just ran it into the dirt. It dragged. It felt forced. It completely tanked what had started to be a vaguely decent read.
I really don’t know about this book. I wanted to like it. Parts were genuinely fun, and it managed to pull off ‘cozy adventure’ pretty well for the most part. But between the pacing and the exposition, it ended up being a little rough. Add in that it felt like the author just took the plot from the movie and made 1:1 substitutions with some minor twists, and it just ended up disappointing. It’s entirely possible to take one work and embody the vibes or the spirit of that work in your own. It’s also possible to make an “inspired by” piece that doesn’t feel like a copy/paste of the original. This book didn’t manage to pull that off.
When I say Princess Bride vibes, I mean Princess Bride vibes! “As You Wish”, lovers separated, forced marriages, this book was so good and so fun to read! It is my first book by Danielle Starre, but her addition to the Enchanted Woods Cottagecore Collection, Tea Whispers and Campfire Legends, may be my favorite one yet!
Willow and Tristan have been apart for 11 years, many telling Willow to move on and to accept that Tristan isn’t coming back. When she is fleeing a nobleman and his forced marriage proposal she comes across a masked man named Ember Fox. No one knows who the man under the mask truly is, but Willow’s gut says to stick close to him. Could it be her Tristan after all these years?
A quick and fantastic read, I was able to escape into the beautiful imagery of this book and the characters Danielle provides. Danielle’s writing style is one that easily sucks you in and holds your attention. Our FMC is not loud and invasive, but has a quiet determination that is easy to feel and connect to. Willow is no damsel in distress, but also isn’t meek and unable to take care of herself. As we get to know Ember Fox also, it is clear he is not really a villain. He hides behind the mask and the guise of being one, but at his core has too much integrity and morals. Although he didn’t give off true villain, morally gray vibes, I still loved getting to know him and seeing him help Willow. Especially when the real villain of the story is everything we hate in a villain. Braxley is arrogant, pompous, and thinks he is so much more than he actually is.
I couldn’t put this book down as I had to find out who Ember Fox really is, how Willow will escape the forced marriage being pushed onto her, and of course, the happily ever after.
As always, review any author notes before reading.
What to Expect: 🔮Lost Love Rekindled 💛Grumpy x Sunshine 🔮Secret Identity 💛Unavoidable Proximity 🔮Only One Bed 💛Found Family
Willow, a tea witch who owns her own shop, has been without her great love, Tristan, for 11 years, after he failed to return home. Out of nowhere, a local nobleman tries to force her to marry him. Whilst fleeing to find help, she discovers the mysterious Ember Fox, a masked outlaw, is willing to step up and assist her. But just who is the Ember Fox? Could it really be Tristan, after all this time?
This a beautiful, cosy and whimsical story that warms your heart. Willow is not the feisty heroine I've come to love from my reads, but is quietly determined, very clever and has a backbone of steel. She never cowers, always looking for a solution with a steady head and a sense of belief in herself. The Ember Fox is an enigma - he is hiding himself in the guise of an outlaw, but behaves with far too much integrity to be a villain. The sparks are flying, even when Willow cannot be certain he is her lost love, and their dual POV provides heart aching moments of her suspicions and his pain at her seemingly not recognising him. The real villain, Braxley, is very Gaston-esque, making his comeuppance incredibly satisfying - particularly as it is orchestrated by Willow, as opposed to the male swooping in and saving the day. The Thistle Crew, a ragtag band of misfits are a great supporting cast. The pace is good, and the peril, whilst relatively mild, keeps you turning pages hoping for justice for Willow and Tristan. An enjoyable read from Starre!

A Cosy Fairytale Escape Full of Heart and Hidden Truths
Tea Whispers and Campfire Legends by Daniella Starre is a delightfully comforting read—a warm hug in book form, perfect for fans of gentle fantasy with a touch of adventure and romance. Wrapped up in the charm of a Princess Bride-style retelling, this story serves up everything from mutual pining and mistaken identities to runaway brides and wicked villains.
At its heart, it’s a tale about love, loyalty, and standing up to injustice—even when you’d rather be anywhere else. The characters are soft yet strong in all the right ways, and the romantic tension is as sweet as a stolen glance across a campfire. The hidden identity twist was especially fun, and watching it all slowly unravel added a lovely layer of anticipation.
Starre’s writing has a lyrical, fairy-tale quality that makes it easy to sink into. There’s a gentle magic in her worldbuilding, and even when the stakes rise, there’s always a sense of safety and warmth beneath the adventure.
Some parts moved a bit slower than others, but the overall journey was worth it—a charming escape filled with heart, hope, and a little firelight mischief.
If you love secret identities, slow-burn romance, and stories that feel like sharing legends over a cup of tea, this one’s for you. ☕✨
A tea witch, a masked rogue, and a love that refuses to stay lost…
Tea Whispers and Campfire Legends is a cozy romantasy standalone filled with slow-burn tension, witty banter, and the steamiest kisses.
☕ Willow Evermere—sharp-tongued, kind, and clever—brews truth into every cup at her tea shop. 🗡 Tristan Ashford—once her storyteller, now a rogue-for-hire tangled in intrigue. 💫 Fate throws them back together, and sparks fly against enchanted forests, hidden castles, and starry skies. I loved their witty banter, felt deeply for their struggles, and found myself wholeheartedly rooting for them.
A fierce heroine, a rogue with secrets, and a love story that feels like coming home. 💕
“You are my home, Willow.”
Tea Whispers and Campfire Legends is the kind of story you’ll want to curl up with, blanket and candlelight required. 🕯️🍵

Willow Evermere is a tea witch who lost the love of her life 11 years ago. She continues with her life and opens up her own tea shop. When she hears rumors that the masked mercenary known as the Ember Fox is actually her long-lost love Tristan Ashford she embarks on a journey to uncover the truth. Things change and he is now a rogue-for-hire known as the Ember Fox, fighting against corrupted lords. Will love be enough to rewrite their ending?
This is the 7th book in the Enchanted Woods Cottagecore series. It is a cozy princess bride retelling cottage core romance. I absolutely devoured it in a couple of hours! I enjoyed this cute fast pace story. I loved how Willow was real clever and able to think fast in brewing teas to solve any problem. She sure was determined and passionate and I liked that about her. I really liked how Willow developed feelings for the Ember Fox before she knew that he was really Tristan and I liked Tristan’s determination to protect and save Willow from any harm.
If you like The Princess Bride, Legends & Lattes, Half a Soul, and Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Fairies then this book is for you. I recommend reading it!
Thank you Daniella Starr and the nerd fam for this ARC copy in exchange of my honest review! 🩷
Willow Evermere is a tea witch who owns her own shop where she brews tea and comfort for her customers. She lost the love of her life 11 years ago when he left to seek fortune and never returned. She has since moved forward, content with her life… that is until rumors of the Ember Fox begin swirling.
Tristan Ashford was a simple storyteller and the love of Willow’s life. Things change and he is now a rogue-for-hire known as the Ember Fox, fighting against corrupted lords.
Willow embarks on a journey to find this rogue and discover the truth. Are Tristan and the Fox one and the same? Tristan is determined to save Willow and keep her from harm. Magical forests, tea around the campfire, spicy time in hidden castles, and a re-kindled love story.
This is another book in The Enchanted Woods Cottagecore Collection. I loved this Princess Bride re-telling! It’s a light, fun read with a HEA that kept my attention from the very beginning. I enjoyed the slow burn between Willow and Tristan, even with Tristan’s identity being a mystery to Willow through most of the story. If you love Buttercup and Westley, definitely add Willow and Tristan to your TBR!
Willow, a tea witch, is living a quiet life, Dispensing her teas, specifically brewed for her patrons. Her life is normal, boring even, until a Duke enters her store and claims that he intends to marry her. However, the only man she has ever wanted to marry was Tristan who left 11 years ago, never to be heard from again. Knowing that she will be forced into this unwanted marriage, Willow decides to run. She enters the enchanted forest with two plans, escape Braxley and warn the Ember Fox that he is being hunted for the bounty that the duke has placed on his head.
This is a slow burn, whimsical adventure romance. Willow is a quiet hero, using her brains & knowledge to take charge of her life. The Ember Fox is an unknown, or is he?
He has become who he is to survive, hiding himself behind a mask. They work together, although seperately to bring down Braxley with the help of friends they met along their journey. But will it be enough to ensure their happily ever after?
This will keep you entertained right to the end. I give it a solid 3.75 out of 5. Give it a try. Out now.
This story totally hooked me as a HUGE fan of The Princess Bride, and while it is good, it deviates enough from TPB to stand alone. I did like the creative license that the author took in the book (no spoilers, you'll have to read it to find out). This is a loose retelling of The Princess Bride set in a cottagecore/fantasy setting. All the main characters are there, some of the side characters are too. There are lots of cute moments to separate this from the movie/book it is based on. My favorite deviations are that there is a lot more of the MMC's (Wesley/Tristan) perspective in this version and that the Princess (Buttercup/Willow) has a lot more agency in the plot in this one. Very cozy, very sweet. Thank you to #thenerdfam for sending me this gifted eARC to review.
I thoroughly enjoyed Willow as the tea witch (FMC). She is more active in the plot than Buttercup is in TPB and the banter between her and the Ember Fox (Wesley/The Dread Pirate Roberts). My favorite character is her cat/familiar... Fig.
Tea Whispers and Campfire Legends by Daniella Starre is the perfect edition to The Enchanted Woods Cottagecore Collection! I adore the peaceful strength that the FMC possesses, and I admire Willow's knowledge of herbs and teas (though that is to be expected of a tea witch but this tea loving girl is jealous!) Willow loves deep and longs even deeper for her lost love, Tristan. When an evil Duke threatens her with marriage she flees her hard earned tea shop for the Enchanted woods in order to seek safety. In doing so she meets an odd assortment of characters, including Ember Fox, a masked vigilante who has made it his mission to expose the truth about the evil Duke and his true actions. Throw in Willow being kidnapped twice and a whole lot of tea being brewed and campfire tales exposing the truth bit by bit and you have a truly enchanting tale of love, strength, and lifting each other up.
Tea Whispers and Campfire Legends is such a delightful read! From start to finish it’s packed with humour, quick-witted banter, and that perfect chaotic energy that comes from a ragtag group of characters who somehow just work together.
Willow and Tristan are absolute sweethearts. Every interaction between them drips with charm and just the right amount of sugar—it’s the kind of sweetness that makes you grin without even realising it.
The magical world itself is so easy to fall into. With witches, trolls, orcs, and all sorts of fantastical beings wandering around, it feels whimsical yet cozy—like stepping into a story you instantly want to stay in.
Honestly, reading this felt exactly like sipping on a warm cup of tea by a campfire—comforting, a little magical, and full of heart. It has been one of my favourite in this series so far.
4 Fig the cat is always stealing the show out of 5.
This is a sweet second chance romance that blends The Princess Bride with Robin Hood adding coziness with tea and cottages and campfire tales. I enjoyed the whimsical fairytale feel of this story, and compared to the other books in this series, this one has way more cozy vibes, which was just what I was looking for.
Unfortunately, the pacing is a bit off. There were times when things felt horribly rushed, and I felt blindsided by new information being sprung on me, while at other times (especially during the resolution at the end) it just dragged on and on. What could have been tied off in a few sentences was drawn out over chapters. Additionally, the spicy scenes totally didn't work for me. They fell completely flat starting with a kiss that ought to have been as epically memorable as the final line from The Princess Bride only it didn't work. It was weird for me how none of it hit the way it should have. So, 3,5 stars.
I received an eARC of this book from the author (Thank You!). These opinions are my own!
What a sweet tea adventure to find truth and love. This was so fun!! There’s Robin Hood/Princess Bride vibes and magic and mystery. There’s a quest for truth and an evil Lord and a sweet romance!
I eyeballed this on the kindle and it’s a super quick fun and cozy read! Not spicy or overly violent/triggering.
This is perfect for an afternoon read in the woods (or in a quiet book nook with ambiance) with a nice cup of tea!!
Tea Whispers & Campfire Legends is a cozy romantasy that reads like a comforting fireside tale!!Our FMC, a clever tea witch, brews magic and truth into every cup, while the MMC, a masked rogue from her past, brings a dash of intrigue and hidden identity. Together, they navigate enchanted forests, starry embraces, and a slow burn romance that simmers just right🔥
Without giving away spoilers, this book is pure comfort with a fantasy twist. If you’re craving a standalone story full of tea steeped magic mysterious identities and a Princess Bride style vibe this one’s for you!!
This was a very quick read. If you love the Princess Bride , then you'll love this retelling. We see the main character Willow, thinking that the love of her life is dead only to learn that he's really alive. What happens next is a journey to find the one that she loves but we get so much more.
Willow was a very strong main character. She's very headstrong and determined and has a knack to think quickly on her feet. I love the dual point of view and also being able to see Tristan's side of the story.
The Princess Bride was a hallmark of my childhood. Westley and Buttercup’s undying love partly inspired my hopeless romantic tendencies. To see that story retold in curls of steam and wisps of magic, with new characters I fell in love with just as much, was beautiful. Although our merry band of thieves took a bit of a backseat in this tale, Willow and Tristan are the perfect protagonists. I love a man who trusts his woman to handle danger, and Willow’s particular methods are both entertaining and brilliant. Brewing tea to stop a troll? Ingenious!
My only complaint would be that the ending felt a bit too rushed. I wanted Willow and Braxley’s final confrontation to pack a harder punch, but it seems he barely realized what she’d done before he was sentenced.
Overall, this Princess Bride retelling is perfect for old and new fans alike - and it will hopefully inspire you to make a good cup of tea.
This is a fun retelling of the Princess Bride. The angst is quite low, but that does not takeaway from the story, but allows the plot to focus on the characters and highlights the sweet areas. I like Willow and Tristan and how they handled their second-chance of happiness. This is a fun fairytale-esque read that charms and delights throughout.
I received and early copy in exchange for my voluntary review.
A cute, quick read about a tea witch and her adventure to find the Ember Fox. There is fighting, rescuing, scheming and a not very nice Lord...oh and a magical cat named Fig.
✨️ Magic ❤️ Lost Love Robinhood Vibes Cozy Romance with a little spice.
Can’t get enough of the Princess Bride vibes! This was a super sweet princess bride retelling, with pining, hidden identity, a runaway unwilling bride, and tackling a corrupt villain. The story was well paced and engaging, a quick and fantastic read. Like most books some parts moved a bit slower than others, but the overall journey was worth it.
If you’re in the mood for a low-stakes cozy romance with a touch of magic and court intrigue, this is the book for you. Throw in a cat familiar and you have everything you need for a quick, cozy, lighthearted read. This is low spice.
Please note that there are several grammatical/copy editing errors that can sometimes affect the readability.
Cute nods to The Princess Bride and Robin Hood. A tea witch falls in love with a storyteller only to lose him to time.
The flow of the story felt off in places, but overall, this was a cozy little story about unexpected connection and the power of simple gestures. Pairs well with a nice cup of tea.
This was a cute second chance romance with all the fantasy goodness. I love the history of the characters and all stories within the story. There was so many great moment of characters finding there place in the world and the friend made on the adventure were so comical. Easy sweet read.
