She’s a perfectly respectable seamstress with a sharp eye for detail, a sharper tongue, and an unfortunate habit of rearranging other people’s love lives.
But when a teary-eyed customer needs more than just a new hemline to fix her broken heart, Mable offers a bit of friendly advice. One accidental engagement later… people start showing up at her door with marriage on their minds.
Soon, Mable finds herself drowning in letters, dodging reputation-ruining rumors, and making matches faster than she can stitch a straight seam. With the help of her meddling young assistant (and possibly divine intervention), Miss Mable just might stumble into her true calling--whether she likes it or not.
A laugh-out-loud, heartwarming prequel to The Brides of Miss Mabel's Registry Series, this story will charm readers with small-town gossip, accidental love stories, and one very stubborn woman who was never meant to play Cupid… but might be awfully good at it.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet! So who am I? Well, it’s quite simple actually. Of course, first and foremost, I’m a wife and mother. However, along with those two hats, I’m also a Sweet Historical and Contemporary Romance author who writes in her fuzzy pants and loves her horses and her cats!
Love historical romance? Well, then strap on those petticoats, travel back in time, and go on adventures with my sweet Historical Romances. Not feeling historical today? I have a few sweet Contemporary Romances, too!

Miss Mabel Blessington owns a dress shop in San Francisco, California, that caters to an affluent crowd. She employs many seamstresses like Miss Penny. When a young woman and her mother show up without an appointment, it is to learn that for the third time in a row, the wedding was called off by the groom with one excuse or another. Learning that the bride-to-be had capitulated to the ‘whims’ of the intended groom, she had forgotten who she was. That is when Miss Mabel brings up a man who isn’t of wealth, but of exceptional character, and a romance begins. Before you know it, another young woman comes to see Miss Mabel, hearing about how she helped someone find a husband-to-be. While two couples are happy, the rich of San Francisco decide to snub Miss Mabel’s dress shop. That’s when Miss Penny encourages her to consider helping couples make suitable matches.
Penny: You say that isn’t magic, but it sounds like it to me. You saying just the right words at just the right time. Mabel: Pure coincidence. Penny: Face it, Mabel. You’re a matchmaker. Mabel: A matchmaker? Are you crazy? I am nothing of the sort. I am a dress show owner who listens. That’s all. Penny: And? Mabel: And what? Sometimes people just need a gentle nudge in the right direction. It’s better than letting them stumble around in the dark, making the same mistakes over and over. Penny: You just described a matchmaker.
“You certainly know how to make magic happen. He’s absolutely perfect.” –a happy match
The series will have Miss Mabel and Miss Penny working together, going through letters, matching up couples, keeping a journal, and allowing two people to meet, often when that would never have happened.
“People ask for peace and quiet, but what they really need is someone who’ll stir the pot. That’s where the love is.” –Miss Mabel Blessington
Miss Mabel owned a dress-shop and was a seamstress. She had paired a couple of people together and then, the third set was before her. She couldn’t help but match the two misfits together, but the town was not amused and the women boycotted her services. Then, the mailman started delivering copious amounts of letters asking her to find them a husband or a wife. After some time, she agreed that this really was something that she was good at! Can’t wait to read more from this a,using series.
It is fun to read about Miss Mabel who enjoys being a seamstress and also has a knack for matchmaking. She doesn't mean to be known for matchmaking but when she makes good matches the letters start coming in. Great characters and an interesting story. I like that Miss Mabel has more than one thing she is good at so if one stops making money the other can. Great qu8ck read and a good series starter.
Miss Mabel’s Matchmaking Registry is the beginning of a seamstress, trying to bring couples together. Through her job, she hears many things and listens to what they are not saying. This allows Mabel to match couples together. She is more than a seamstress of clothing, she is the creator of love. Perfect start to a new series.
This is a great introduction to a series on the couples Miss Mable will be matching! I will be looking for and reading the next books ! Thanks London, for sharing this book with me!
A good way to begin a series of stories. I like how she isn't full of herself, and needs to be convinced to "meddle" in other's lives. A gift is a gift when used to bless others. This does just that. Definitely makes you want to read more such unlikely matches.
Not bad. Lays a foundation for how Miss Mabel Blessington's matchmaker services came to be. It was a bit overdetailed for my taste regarding gossip. There was a tad bit of faith tossed in. ⭐⭐⭐ Read 9/17/2025
I purchased this eBook. All opinions are mine alone.
A new author for me. I have to say that it was a way to see what I would think about the series. I have to also say that although it started a little slow for me it made a quick turnaround. I am wondering what kind of trouble she will get herself into while making matches.
A great short story, a prequel to London James' new series "The Brides of Miss Mabel's Registry". I'm looking forward to reading 'The Blacksmith's Stubborn Bride' book 1
