The whole world wants a piece of him. He only wants her. If he only knew where she was.
Charlie
It’s better for everyone that I disappeared. At least, my ex thought so when he left me for dead.
Then Cash—my childhood best friend turned country music star—sings his heartbreak for the world, one song at a time. And somehow, I know…they’re all meant for me.
I tell myself none of it matters. That I can never have him. That if he knew my secret, he’d never look at me the same.
Then a viper with fake lashes and even faker intentions latches onto his fame, and suddenly, my excuses don’t matter. It’s time to stop hiding. Time to go home. Time to fight for the man who never stopped fighting for me.
Cash
I never doubted who I’d spend forever with. It was always Charlie. But when she vanishes…
I unravel.
So, I do the only thing I know how. I post love songs on TikTok, hoping to sing her home. It takes a year, but when she walks on stage at my concert, singing my song, I think she’s finally mine.
But she’s got secrets. Ones that make her flinch when I touch her, ones that make her push me away when I know she wants me too. Whatever she’s hiding, I’m going to figure it out. She needs to know she’s not facing this alone. Not anymore.
Perfect for readers longing for a heart-wrenching, first-love-that-never-got-a-chance story. Packed with angst, southern charm, forbidden longing, and found family, you’ll devour this romance about a girl who ran, a boy who waited, and the moment their worlds crash back together—louder than a stadium full of fans.

“”You are perfect for me””
“"You know all those songs you posted on TikTok?" "You mean, all the songs I posted for you?" "Yeah." Her eyes turned so serious. "You got me through. You sang to me until I believed you meant it." Her fingers traced over my cheek. "You sang me home." "Of course I did. What else did you expect me to do? I was out of my mind, not knowing where you were or if you were even alive." My nose brushed against hers. "I love you," I said again. She gave it right back. "I love you too." "''m probably going to tell you so much it'll annoy you." Her fingers breezed over my shoulders. "Not possible."”
“”I love you. I know you struggle to understand what that means, so I'm going to tell you." I tried to pull away, but my body betrayed me-racing pulse, trembling breath, skin lit up like a live wire. "Loving you means I'm not going to let you slave away for the next decade-punishing yourself—when you could be moving on with your life. Loving you means that if you hurt, I hurt. If you struggle, I struggle. It means you have me for life and that life can finally begin." His nose pressed into the space right behind my ear, sending a ripple of goosebumps down my right side. "So just say thank you and we'll put this behind us."”
What a sweet, emotional, and heartwarming read🥹 This book was all about forgiveness, learning to love yourself and accept help, huge emphasis on the power of family, and some faith elements sprinkled in! There was one scene between Charlie and her mom that actually made me tear up, it was so sweet and healing❤️🩹
The way Cash so loyally loves Charlie is so incredible - he’s a perfect example of someone whose words are backed up by action; he doesn’t just SAY he loves her, he shows it in everything he does!
I loved Charlie’s redemptive story and the lessons she learned. It’s beautiful to watch a character bare their soul and self in the most vulnerable way to someone and for it to be received with utter adoration, acceptance, and love❤️🩹
I wish there would have been a little more expounding of the faith aspects; there was more early in the story, and I would have loved to see it grow, but otherwise a beautiful and quick read!!
This is the first book I’ve read from this author, and I’m intrigued to read the other books from this series! I want to know all the backstories!🤩
🔥no spice/closed-door (some mentioning of what will happen on their honeymoon) 🤬a couple curse words ⚠️trigger warnings for discussion of porn addiction of a side character, past sexual abuse, self harm/scars (all non descriptive)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cash Dupree & Charlie Dupree - Dual POV - Singer, country boy MMC - He writes her songs 🥹 - lost, but finding her way back home FMC - Family 💕 - He falls first / childhood crushes - Best friends to lovers - Second chance
✨ a few of my favorite things: - Peyton and her heart to protect her son but love others well - Addie’s prayer 😂🤭 Addie’s attitude and faith in God to pull through for her and give her, her miracles 😂 - Cash’s protective nature - All the cousins having each other’s backs in EVERYTHING - The whole Dupree family rallying around one another, willing to sacrifice everything - Charlie’s determination - Oooooooooo Dupree cousin drama 🫠 Bowen. Dude. - The plot 👏🏻 - Cash’s sacrifices & persevere to prove his love and stability for her - The ending 🥹 their HEA
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book 1 of the Seddledowne Two: Finding Home Series - The chemistry and teasing between Cash and Charlie is mind blowing. It is so clear that they have VERY strong feelings for one another even when Charlie *thinks* she’s just passionately annoyed by him. I honestly can’t talk about them without spoilers so IYKYK. Ahhhhh THE REUNION. My heart hurts for Cash. He is so head over heels. My heart hurts for Charlie and the pain she carries. JUST LET HIM LOVE YOU. That boat ride was a freaking disaster. lol the got caught red handed 😂🫠.
Susan has some hooked on all her books because they all have heart, humanity, and INSANE plot twists. Every book you read by Susan (Callie Mae Shaw) you get to read real people try to do their very best, but fail sometimes and see how they pick up the pieces. Throughout every book the family has an insane love for one another that is truly unconditional.
I loved all the growth you get to see from the family (now viewed as the parents). I’m so excited to get more of the kids’ books because I like seeing how the kids see their parents after we have been able to watch their parents fall in love. Children have unique views on their parents so it’s so so cool to see how all the previous MCs children view them.
I didn’t think Ford and Peyton could get any better but then we get to see them parent and now I love them even more. Peyton’s fierce love for her whole family but most her husband and children is inspiring. Ford trying to discipline is hilarious 😂 Ash and Tally rallying around Charlie (Theo too) made me tear up. The car ride and all the ensued (sorry no spoilers) was just, perfect. Honestly, no words. Charlie needed that. Also GO UNCLE HOLDEN on so many accounts.
Also all the cousins are hilarious and I so enjoyed their dynamic. Love Bowen and Charlie’s bond. I’ve been stalking my email for all the teasers Susan has been sending out for the next book 🤭
This is a closed door contemporary romance, with innuendo, discussions of sex, some language, and suspense/mystery. The author has content warnings at the beginning of the book and be sure to read them!

I loved Charlie and Cash's romantic tension and chemistry. I thought that was well-written. I also really love the group of cousins and how this family all supports each other no matter what. It's nice to see healthy family relationships portrayed in books, like this one.
Even though the heat level in this book is high, I definitely enjoyed the story overall and plan to read other books by Callie/Susan. I do recommend this one to a certain audience. See my content warnings below to make sure none of that will bother you.
Content Guide: Language: Mild-A few uses of d*mn, h*ll, jacka** (maybe a few other words, but not that made me uncomfortable; no F words) Sexual Content: Closed-door/Fade-t0-Black: Moderate innuendoes and sexual talk, very passionate kissing (descriptive, prolonged, with tongue), fade-to-black (wedding night between married couple), touching (stays appropriate) Violence/gore: Moderate-characters fight some bad guys (to protect some of their family), a character has acid burns due to an attack (and she talks about what happened) Substance Use: Mild: addiction to drugs (side character, mentioned), alcoholism (I think, mentioned), maybe some mild smoking mentioned at a bar Prejudices: character gets ridiculed by the public, an ex-girlfriend harasses the main FMC Religious Content: Christian: Characters believe in God and Jesus and mention their beliefs and how he can help heal several times. Other characters are Jewish. Other: Porn addiction (side character, Not MMC), Extreme Debt (on page), Poverty, Divorce (on page), Panic attacks (on page), Neglect/Separation by spouse, Self-harm (happens in the past)
I loved this author’s Seddledowne Series, and was excited when I found out she was writing a new series about the next generation.
Sing Me Home was just as exceptional as I had hoped. The storyline is gripping and full of raw emotion, angst, humor, and passion—something that draws me to this author’s work. The characters were realistic and relatable, and they made me wish I was part of their family.
The love story between Cash and Charlie was beautiful and completely swept me away. His love for her was so pure, deep, protective, and intense that it made my heart melt. I loved Charlie and how strong and brave she was. I was cheering for her as she found her voice and her way ’home’ again.
You can expect— Country music star First love Childhood best friends to lovers Protective hero He falls first Secrets/Scars Mental Health Rep Return to hometown Small town romance Suspenseful moments Family saga Kisses only
This is a beautiful and heartwarming story of soulmates and second chances, grace and healing, family, belonging, and unconditional love. I couldn’t put it down, and it’s a story that will stay with me for a long time. Highly recommended.
I received a complementary copy but a positive review was not required.
My favorite book of this beautiful series. I love the family dynamic and how Jesus is somehow intertwined in it all. It’s definitely one of the best series I’ve read.
Sing Me Home: (Seddledowne Two: Finding Home Book 1) By Callie Mae Shaw (aka Susan Henshaw)
Small town. Big emotions. And one cinnamon roll hero.
Okay besties, grab your comfiest blanket and cue the country playlist, because Sing Me Home gave everything: the slow-burn friends-to-lovers tension, the second-chance ache, the kind of love that shows up and stays—plus a town so cozy, I wanted to crawl into the pages and never leave.
Let’s talk Charlie. My stubborn, scarred, soft-hearted queen. She’s been through it, and yet, she’s still standing. Still fighting. Still trying to believe she deserves love—and watching her finally open her heart? Tears. Literal tears. She’s strong in that “I’ve been broken but I’m still here” kind of way, and that’s my favorite kind of heroine.
And then… there’s Cash freaking Dupree. A rising country star with the soul of a poet, the heart of a protector, and the patience of a saint. This man loves hard. From page one, he had tunnel vision for Charlie, and nothing—not even her walls—was gonna scare him off. The way he waited, listened, showed up? Whew. He’s everything. A swoony, southern, golden-retriever-in-a-baseball-cap dreamboat.
Can we also shower some love on Addie, the little sister with a big faith and an even bigger personality? Her belief that God could answer even with puppies had me both cracking up and secretly tearing up. And the Dupree family as a whole? They’re icons. They’re warm, witty, and fiercely loyal. The way they wrapped Charlie in love without any questions or conditions? It broke my heart (in the best way possible).
Callie Mae Shaw’s blend of humor and heart is chef’s kiss.
And let’s not forget the suspense! Just enough danger and tension to keep me flipping pages like a woman possessed. It gave the emotional arc even more weight and made Charlie’s healing feel that much more earned.
This book is more than a romance. It’s about belonging, grace, forgiveness, and knowing you’re never too broken to be loved. It’s cozy, faith-filled, and swoony as heck without ever feeling cheesy or forced.
If you’re into: • Protective heroes who would burn the world down for their girl • Heroines finding their voice and their worth • Found families that feel like warm hugs •. Small towns, filled with nosy neighbors and big hearts. …then Sing Me Home is your next 5-star comfort read.
This one? Straight to the favorites shelf. I laughed, I cried, I swooned—and I already miss Seddledowne. This is the story we've been waiting for! If you fell for Ford's story, just wait until you dive into Charlie and Cash’s story...it did not disappoint. Total best-friends-to-lovers gold, with that delicious years-long mutual pining we all crave.
Charlie’s been gone for four years, and when life hits rock bottom, she finally heads home. But seeing another woman on Cash’s arm? Yeah, that’s the spark she needed to step back into his life. Only, she’s not the same girl they remember, and she refuses to be. She’s carrying guilt, pushing everyone away… even the man she’s secretly loved forever. But Cash? He’s ready to fight for her. To show her that his love is still just as strong, scars and all.
Y’all… being back with the Dupree family? Pure joy. This story has everything: family fun, sizzling chemistry, steamy (but classy) moments, romantic lyrics, and a splash of suspense. Total page-turner!
I gave this one 4.5 stars, rounded to 5 stars.
*Content note: a few innuendos, fade-to-black scene for a married couple, and mentions of past self-harm.
Big thanks for the complimentary copy. This review is my honest opinion!
This was my first book by this author coming into this second generation, Christian contemporary, emotional romance. Our main characters are ones who became step-cousins at some point when growing up but our MMC Cash has always been clear that they are not cousins. Having had a crush on Charlie forever, he was crushed when she came to a reunion married and then disappeared for years. He wrote all of her songs for her and she found them online and they were her lifeline. Once she renters his life, they have pesky exes to deal with. I enjoyed this romance and the strong amount of family that was included. I loved the music aspects. There were a few instances of swearing and there were also mentions of rear ends and the front tops of females. There was a faith element that was appreciated. With hints of suspense, this was a good read that kept me entertained and engaged for a lot of the story. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series and from this author. This was a fade-to-black, within marriage, romance. Intimacy: level 3. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
Content: a few instances of language, mentions of rears and top parts
I received an ARC of this book from the author, through Booked with the Emily’s, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Cash is a superstar in the music industry but all he wants is his girl Charlie to come back home. After she got married and left, Cash hasn't been the same. He channels his feelings into his songs hoping his message will get to her and that one day her situation will change. When she does finally re enter his life, he is shocked to find out the ordeal she has been through and Charlie is determined to keep Cash at arm's length. Will the two be able to find their happy ever after?
What an emotional book this was! Cash was such a sweetheart with how much he felt towards Charlie, especially the way he displayed this emotion. I kept wondering what Charlie had endured. The author does not give us this information easily and we learn along with Cash, in small pieces just how bad her life was while she was away. This book was so well written and had me struggling to put it down once I started. You have to love the Dupree family! I can't wait to read more of this series, especially the other cousin's stories.
This is living rent free in my head! I loved my return to Sceddledowne. The concept was excellent and I loved that it focus on the Dupree siblings and Anna's kids.
The book is so beautifully written and flows perfectly. The descriptions are excellent and I think that Sceddledowne sounds like a beautiful place to live.
The characters are amazing. It's so nice seeing all the old faces back. I was so happy Granny and Gramps were there too! The story focuses on Cash (Ford and Peyton's son) and Charlie (Ashton and Tally's daughter - adopted by Ashton). I loved their story. It was so good how it unfolded.
I absolutely loved this book, I love Sceddledowne, I love The Duprees & Bishops. I can't recommend it enough and I can't wait for my next visit to Seddledowne.
After falling in love with the town of Seddledowne, and the characters who reside there, it was so nice to return with generation two! This book is all about Cash Dupree as he hits the music scene, following along in his father's footsteps but also making a name for himself.
While I enjoyed spending time with Cash, I was extra excited to meet Charlie and get lost in HER story. Poor girl has really gone through some stuff, and it was beautiful seeing her find herself back in the arms of her loving family.
Within the pages of this closed-door romance you will find:
- a strong (sometimes lovingly overbearing) family - mental health rep - childhood friends to lovers - self-healing and personal growth
and so much more!
If you're looking for a quick read that lands a huge emotional punch, with characters you'll immediately fall in love with, then check out "Sing Me Home", which is out now. I have no idea whose story is next but I'm already very excited.
I received a copy of this book as part of a book tour. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Cash and Charlie have my heart along with the rest of the Dupree clan! I loved how profound Cash’s love was for Charlie no matter what time and distance did to drive them apart. Charlie went through so much, but I loved how she fought and eventually went home. Some of my favorite moments: their songs to each other, their chemistry and 🔥🔥🔥 kisses, the close-knit group of cousins. This book pulled every heartstring and gave me all the feels! All of Susan Henshaw/Callie May Shaw’s books are way more than 5 stars in my opinion! Can’t wait for more from her!
This was a cute book in so many ways. I enjoyed the idea of the romance and lots of moments they had. However, them being “cousins” even though they were not legit cousins was a little weird for me. Not enough to ruin it for me but enough for me to notice it.
I also struggled a little bit with the fact that almost every conflict was a huge conflict throughout the entire book. I wish we could’ve had a break from some of the external conflict and focus more on her internal conflict and her romance for a good chunk of the book.
Again, some very sweet things in this book and the family banter was great but not my favorite read. That all being said I could still see myself reading another one in this series.
I'm so glad the Dupree stories are extending to the next generation. There were hard parts in this novel - abusive criminal activity (in the past) and more but Cash has been waiting forever for his Charlie and she needs to learn to love herself.
I will continue to say this over and over and over again… if Susan Henshaw/Callie Mae Shaw writes it… I’m going to read it. Period. This book… what a season opener. The love, the secrets, the family dynamic… just pick it up and read it, you won’t regret it!
Love this book so much! Enjoyed seeing the Duprees again, especially the cousins all grown up. Laughed and cried (per usual with a Susan book). This will always be a reread for me again and again. The audiobook is amazing as well!
Sing Me Home is finally here!!! I am sooo happy that Callie Mae Shaw (aka Susan Henshaw) is committed to the Dupree family and continues to quickly dish out these fabulous stories! I don’t know if I could take the agony of waiting too long.
Sing Me Home is book one in the new series, Seddledowne Two: Finding Home. It picks up a few years after the epilogue of It Was Nothing. And if you haven’t read the first series, do your self a favor, drop everything NOW and go read it. Because Cash and Charlie have a history, and that relationship deserves your full attention and understanding. If there is anyone who deserves some therapy and a HEA, it’s Charlie Dupree. That girl’s got issues and rightfully so. But Cash has loved her for nearly his whole life. He knows her, and there is nothing she can do to erase that love.
This childhood, unrequited love story is a wild, crazy roller coaster of emotions. There is smoldering romance, conflict and suspense, and unbreakable family bonds. As always, the Dupree family is top notch when it comes to love and forgiveness and support.
I can’t say enough about the Seddledowne books. They have become all time favorite contemporary romances. Callie Mae Shaw writes the most incredible tension and angst. And swoon that is off the charts.
I am so excited to see the rest of the cousins get there stories. I have very good idea of who is next and it’s going to be explosive!
Many thanks to the author for my advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
4.5⭐️ 1🌶️ Book 1 in the Seddledowne Two/Finding Home series. This is the second generation follow-up to the 5-book Seddledowne series (I read/loved them). Angst, intense emotions (and I mean INTENSE), banter/hilarious moments, a very involved family, and heart. I cried, I laughed, I swooned, and I cried (a lot) more.
Cash Dupree is a singer and the son of Ford Dupree, a Country music star from book 5 of the last series. He’s had a crush on Charlie since he was a teenager, and that has morphed into unrequited love/pining. They shared a passionate kiss once at 18, then nothing for 4 years 💋. Now that she’s back (and getting divorced), Cash thinks/hopes it’s finally his time to be with her. But Charlie has secrets and a lot of trauma to work through, and tells Cash she needs space and time, and a friend. Cash loves her no matter what but Charlie thinks she isn’t worth loving, that she isn’t inherently good because she has ‘bad’ blood running in her veins from her biological dad. 🥺 She thinks she doesn’t deserve love, and that she lets down everyone. When Charlie tells her mom that they should stop loving her and to just love their replacements for her (her half-siblings) - my heart broke. 😢 You can see how many people love her - but she doesn’t love herself, and she pushes Cash away because she doesn’t think she’s good enough for him. She has scars (emotional and physical) that she’s learning to heal by writing songs, including one called ‘Sing Me Home’. ❤️
Emotional roller coaster 🎢 He wrote ‘Please Come Home Tonight’ for her He sleeps on the floor next to her bed the first night she’s back home in 4 years. 🫠🫠🫠 He paid off her medical debt 💸 She writes secret songs for him, too. 🎶 He makes her feel safe & protected. Hard-fought HEA ❤️
Favorite quotes: "You know all those songs you posted on TikTok?" "You mean, all the songs I posted for you?" "Yeah. You got me through. You sang to me until I believed you meant it. You sang me home."
"I love you. I know you struggle to understand what that means, so I'm going to tell you. Loving you means that if you hurt, I hurt. If you struggle, I struggle. It means you have me for life and that life can finally begin."
"I'm here.” “You are. And I promised myself if you ever came home, I'd never let you go."
"I'll wait. However long it takes.”
"You don't want me." "I do.” "I'm a mess. Inside and out." "I love you exactly how you are."
"I love you, Charlie. Every song I've ever written is for you."
‘Hearing Cash say all of his songs were about me? My mind had run wild-thinking foolish notions about things like a wedding dress, a farmhouse, and babies. None of those were in the cards for me. Not with someone as high-quality as Cash.’
Read this if you like: *Small town romance *Friends to lovers *Angst/tension *Hard-earned HEA *Big family dynamics *Trauma/healing *Therapy/mental health rep
Content warning: Discussion of past sexual abuse, cutting/self-harm, panic attacks
I can’t wait to see which second gen Dupree kid gets a story in the next book.
Cash has been in love with Charlie since they were teens, but no one knows where she has disappeared to. So as a rising country music star, Cash begins to sing songs to her, hoping Charlie will hear and find her way back home.
Charlie knows that if Cash knew her secrets, he would never want her, but she cannot ignore her need to stop hiding and running, and find her way home to the place where her heart has always been.
What you'll love: second generation second chance at first love dual pov country music singer unrequited love childhood friends secrets and scars protective hero family drama and loyalty the race so much tension and angst! that kiss!!! suspenseful moments healing
I am not well after reading this book, but in the best way possible!! Anyone who has been following me for more than a hot minute knows that I have been obsessed with this author's books since I picked up her first Seddledowne book. The amount of raw angst and emotion that flow out of her stories is unreal and this newest book is no exception, not to mention the swoon. Cash and Charlie's achingly beautiful love story completely stole my heart!!
This is a story of homecoming, of second chances and secrets and soulmates, of a beautiful kind of love that accepts without judgement or shame. Cash is a walking green flag and Charlie is so incredibly brave; I love the way they heal each other! That chemistry is undeniable from the beginning and every page with them together is lit up like the fourth of July.
The Dupree family can adopt me anytime they want. There is so much relatability in the way they love and support each other and also in the ways they don't always get things right the first time. I legitimately sobbed during the race scene (#iykyk) and watching this second generation of Duprees find their happily ever afters is my new roman empire.
Reading this author's books is pure happiness and I will never, ever get enough. Pick this one up for the beautiful and swoony love story, stay for the family dynamics and the loyal friendships, the healing and forgiveness, the playful laugh out loud scenes and the sweet romantic ones, and the emotional moments that will heal your heart. 11/10, this will be a forever favorite!
I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
Content: fade to black between married couple, couple of innuendos and mild swears
Trigger warnings: make sure to read the author's notes before the book begins
While Sing Me Home is technically the first book of the series, this is a second-generation series--- meaning we're now getting the stories of the now grown kids of the characters we first met in the original Seddledown series. While you could probably enjoy this one as a standalone, you will definitely be getting some spoilers from the original series, and I think will ultimately appreciate it more when you have that full family backstory so I would definitely recommend reading the original series first.
I do not know what Susan Henshaw (Callie Mae Shaw) is putting in her books... but I am hooked and absolutely cannot get enough of them! I was so thrilled to have the chance to catch up with the next generation of Duprees... and it absolutely did not disappoint! This family is perhaps my favorite fictional family of all time. Yes, they have their fair share of drama (perhaps more than their fair share, if we're being honest), but more than that they also love big and truly just bring so much heart (and humor) to the table. I love seeing that family dynamic between them, and this story reflected that love so beautifully. And then there's the romance. We got a little preview of Cash and Charlie's story in the bonus scene of It Was Nothing. This story picks up at the same point, but this time we see things from Cash's perspective. The way he loves Charlie... Oh. My. Goodness! We saw hints of that crush in the original series but seeing them all grown up and how deep that love truly ran... well, it was beautiful and took me on an emotional roller coaster right along with them. Their story was one filled with so much heartbreak and so many twists and turns that you're absolutely going to want to experience for yourself! If you love an emotional romance with a hard fought happily ever after, this is one you won't want to miss! This is easily a favorite of the year so far for me... I can't wait to see what will happen next!
Sing Me Home is a closed-door romance with detailed kisses and fade to black between a married couple. It does also have some innuendo and minor language as well. While this is not a Christian romance, faith is important to the Dupree family and that is evident in their story. This is a story that does not shy away from tough topics, so be sure to check out the author's note for potential triggers before reading.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
Thank you, Partner, @bookedwiththeemilys Susan Henshaw for a copy of Sing me home #gifted
Sing me home by Susan Henshaw had a premise that sounded good and while I did enjoy the book I didn’t love it. I do appreciate that the author included content or trigger warnings at the beginning and that helped but the story itself was a little triggering for me and that’s on me. It’s still beautifully written story as well as a love story but it just wasn’t for me.
Synopsis: The whole world wants a piece of him. He only wants her. If he only knew where she was.
Charlie:
Cash:
I never doubted who I’d spend forever with. It was always Charlie. But when she vanishes…
I unravel.
So, I do the only thing I know how. I post love songs on TikTok, hoping to sing her home. It takes a year, but when she walks on stage at my concert, singing my song, I think she’s finally mine.
But she’s got secrets. Ones that make her flinch when I touch her, ones that make her push me away when I know she wants me too. Whatever she’s hiding, I’m going to figure it out. She needs to know she’s not facing this alone. Not anymore.

4.5 stars Oh my goodness! This book was heartbreaking yet wonderful. This is the first book that I have read by Callie Mae Shaw but it will certainly not be the last. Sing Me Home is the first book in Callie Mae Shaw’s Seddledowne Two: Finding Home series. Charlie and Cash had history and it was complicated but it was full of love. The characters draw you in and the story holds you captive. There was heartbreak and hurt but there is also love and redemption. I love the Dunpree family and their antics. Charlie and Cash were step-cousins but they always knew that they weren’t related. They had been drawn together but they also feared that the other didn’t truly love them. I really enjoyed reading about their interactions and seeing how deeply they cared for each other. They had a lot of obstacles to overcome but they preserved. Charlie had left home a couple of years ago and came home broken and scared, but Cash never gave up on her. I love how the family tried to support Charlie in the best way that they could while also cheering Cash on. Charlie and Cash had to figure out if love was worth the pain and suffering. I really enjoyed this book and I would definitely recommend it. It is closed-door and deals with hard topics so I would say it is more PG-13. I would recommend it to those who are considered at least older teens. However the romance is sweet and the family scenes are a lot of fun. Sing Me Home is a closed door contemporary romance.
The second generation of the Dupree family is here with this new Seddledowne series!
Short Synopsis: Cash has been in love with his best friend Charlie for as long as he can remember. Unfortunately for him, he waited too long to let her know. When she left home and got married, he wasn’t sure if he would see her again. So, he started writing songs for her and posting them to social media in the hopes of singing her home. When she finally arrives back home, she’s filled with secrets and deeply hurting. Can Cash help her heel and move forward? Or will her past keep them apart?
My Thoughts: I loved the Dupree family in the first Seddledowne series and while this book starts the second generation, it felt like a continuation of the first series! I loved getting glimpses of the original Dupree couples and catching up with their stories! That said, Cash and Charlie’s love story fell flat for me. While it seemed that Cash was supposed to be caring and protective, he was obsessed with Charlie in a way that felt unhealthy. Charlie, while portrayed as stubborn and fiercely independent, showed very little growth and was very dependent on toxic relationships with the men in her life. I did appreciate the beautiful songs that were incorporated into the story!

This captivating introduction to the Seddledown Two Series: Finding Home, marks a powerful return to the beloved world of the Dupree brothers, now showcasing their children as adults. The Dupree brothers were featured in the Seddledown series.
The author masterfully unfolds the poignant story of Charlie and Cash, who have been inseparable friends since childhood and secretly in love with each other. After a tumultuous four-year absence filled with secrets, Charlie returns home, setting the stage for an emotional journey of self-discovery and healing.
What truly struck me was Cash's unwavering love for Charlie, which ultimately allows her to forgive herself. Charlie’s struggles are profound, and witnessing her resilience as she finds her way back home is both heartbreaking and inspiring, a truly magical transformation. The lyrical expressions in their songs about their relationship add an enchanting depth to the narrative.
I also appreciated the growth of the younger generation, as they embody the same playful banter and supportive dynamics their parents once shared, further enriching this heartfelt tale.
At its core, this story is about homecoming, second chances, and soulmates. This is a wonderful story about love that outshines judgment or shame. This is a journey you won’t want to miss. This book is available now.
I loved the original Seddledowne series, so I was really excited to dive into this next generation, and it didn’t disappoint.
Cash has been a favorite of mine since he was first introduced. He’s sweet, open, and so full of love. When Charlie, the love of his life, returns after disappearing, he sees her as nothing short of a miracle.
Charlie, though, has been through so much. She comes back carrying pain, guilt, and secrets, and while she tries to keep her distance, Cash refuses to let her push him away. His determination to show her she’s loved no matter what is really the heart of this story.
This is a soft, angsty romance that grows from a deep friendship into something more. Watching them work through the past and finally open themselves up to healing and love is really beautiful.
Music plays such a key role in their story as it’s woven into their connection in a way that is emotional and healing. Like the rest of the series, the strong family ties are front and centre, with faith playing an even more prominent role in this one.
If you’re looking for an angsty, closed-door romance (fade to black), this is a really lovely read.
***If you haven’t read the original series, I’d recommend starting there first. There are a lot of interconnected characters, and you’ll appreciate this story so much more with that background.***
Wow. Sing Me Home absolutely wrecked me—in the best possible way. Callie Mae Shaw knows how to hit you right in the heart with this emotional, beautifully raw story about love, healing, and second chances.
Charlie is one of those characters who just grabs your soul. She’s been through so much, and watching her slowly find herself again was heartbreaking, powerful, and honestly kind of magical. I cried, I cheered, I clung to every page.
Her best friend—the famous musician? Their connection is unreal. There’s so much history, so much pain and love tangled up in their story, it gave me actual chills. It’s messy, passionate, and completely unforgettable.
And can we talk about the town of Seddledowne? It felt like coming home. The warm, familiar vibe, the community, the little details—it was all perfect. Plus, getting glimpses of characters from the original Seddledowne series made my heart so happy. It felt like catching up with old friends in the middle of a brand new story.
This isn’t just a love story. It’s about survival, forgiveness, and the kind of love that pulls you out of the dark. I turned the last page with tears in my eyes and huope in my chest.
If you love stories that make you feel—really, truly feel—Sing Me Home is a must-read.
“When something is meant to be, it finds its way home - no matter what.” Chapter 32/33 -race time (all the tears and overwhelming love)
Another smash hit for Susan henshaw. I love the interconnecting web she has weaved full of gorgeous characters, relationships and a town I would love to live in.
Seddledowne continues to grow and I am here for it, I crave more and could indulge daily. Charlie and Cash, the meaning of true love at first sight and proving that childhood crushes can become your happily ever after.
Susan has written this book so beautifully, giving a second chance to a first love and showing us all that if you take your time and nurture a connection that it can grow into something truly sublime and breathtaking. This book explores the character journey of Charlie and Cash intertwined with the rest of the Dupree family, there’s a few surprises in there which I didn’t see coming and an ending which all of Seddledowne and I were hoping to come to fruition.
This closed door romance is very well written and I love how the subtle build up unfolds as the reader wants it to in their imagination.
A love story focusing on no matter what happens in life your family will always have your back and a lesson to leap in and take the chance sooner rather than later.
I loved this book. I literally laughed out loud, cried, & swooned hard over Cash. I loved the nostalgic quotes, like the Mr. Collin’s quote from Pride & Prejudice & his boiled potatoes. I laughed out loud at that. Cash’s little sister Addie was a riot. She was so confident that God was going to answer, even if it didn’t look like how she said it (ie the puppies). I wish I had her faith sometimes! Loren was a tool. I despise him with every part of my being.
Cash was a total sweetheart. He had his eyes on Charlie from day one & nothing was changing his mind. He was so good with Charlie & each revelation she revealed. My heart broke for her. I also wanted to pop her upside her head because she had a wonderful family that would have been there & a man willing to take her anyway she is & she still stayed gone.
Last note, I wish my family was like the Dupree’s.
All in all, I truly love this series. Callie does an amazing job writing these books. She’s one of my favorite authors! I haven’t read one yet that I didn’t love. They’re inspirational, swoon worthy, & not cheesy one bit which is so hard to find in this genre. I am obsessed. Definitely read this series!
I enjoyed the first Seddledowne series and was delighted to discover this new series with the progeny from the first. (Definitely read the first series first.) This story follows Cash (Ford's son) and Charlie (Ashton's adopted daughter). These two were the oldest of the Dupree cousins. Although Charlie isn't technically blood-related. (Which is important!)
In this story, Cash is just starting his music career. Charlie left home several years earlier under circumstances that strained her relationship with Cash and her family, and eventually, they lost contact with her.
This story gives "prodigal son" vibes. Yes, it is about Cash and Charlie's love story, but it is also about family being willing to love and welcome back one who lost their way. It's about being willing to forgive yourself and see your worth.
I sometimes found Cash's impatience to wait for Charlie to heal to be a bit annoying. I understand he was excited to love her and wanted her to be on the same page, but the girl had some serious trauma to work through.
Overall, this was another sweet (and clean--only some swoony kisses) Seddledowne story. I'm hoping to read more about some of the other cousins!
