Elven Heartbound #2

Elven Heartbound: The Third Season

Rate this book
Time bends and blurs in the heartlanding. Especially when you’re trying not to die in the real world.

While Elowyn drifts between existence and nothingness as her body fights to survive, Rominy becomes her anchor—the lone connection between Elowyn in the heartlanding and her family in the real world. No one prepared him to survive this state of limbo, and as his heart beats for them both, he struggles to keep her spirits afloat in their dreams while aching for her in reality.

Amid this harrowing situation, Cerian and Arisanna continue to grow closer, both in the heartlanding and in the real world. Meanwhile, Tharios strives to meet everyone’s needs without neglecting the faerie princess he adores.

As days and minutes and hours pass, will the heartlanding remain a haven for Elowyn, or will it become a cage she can’t escape?

to say i’m disappointed is an understatement. the pure lack of plot or any conflict to keep me attached to the story delayed my finishing of the book. the introduction of an off the wall enemy 92% in? annoying. this book was the embodiment of groundhogs day and that’s heartbreaking given how much i adored book 1!

This series is the definition of cozy read. I usually don't read these types of books, and I wasn't planning on reading this one after finishing the first, but I got pulled right back in. I love all the love and positivity between all the characters. I'm enjoying the focus on character development rather than constant action.

Do some of the chapters feel slightly repetitive? yes, especially when it comes to Rominy and Elowyn. A few chapters in there felt like the same thing, just a different location. However, I still love their characters. Elowyn reminds of Starfire from Teen Titans and now, by proxy, Rominy is Robin lol.

Arisanna and Cerian are my favorites by far. I understand both of these characters- Arisanna and the desire to be perfect, Cerian and his anxiety. I'm low-key obsessed with Cerian. I understand his need to run and be alone, and also not running when you find your person. He's sweet and funny when he's with Arisanna and I love how they bring out the best in each other.

It is quite long, so if that’s your thing, definitely read this one.

Not to be rude but there’s things happening, but I’m bored. Basically they do the same thing in the dreamland as they do in the regular land, which is just sleep together- like everyone’s on a honeymoon (even the parents acting like they’re on a honeymoon) and weird innuendos about everyone needing to do all these things. it’s like not spice but like Spice with avoiding spice words? Just a lot of physical moments and kissing, clean kissing mostly. A lot of consent and talking through every get together.

There is a phrase that keeps happening that I think might be pretend cursing?

Again, reminds me a lot of a different book that I read.

70% through and I hate to not finish, but that might be the case

Quote example
“Whether it’s mere moments or a lifetime before she reaches him is impossible to say. She’s too busy getting lost in his eyes.”
Kind of cheesy and all the time.

Finished and it ends on a cliff hanger and 93% through conflict finally happens

DNF (returned to KU before I could check the percentage).

I thought book one of this (formerly Kindle Vella) series was cute if a little too instalovey, and I was really looking forward to this second installment. Unfortunately, I set this aside a while ago because the story felt like it wasn't going anywhere fast. In short, I was bored. There was a lot of Cerian being a socially anxious little thing, he and Arisanna having sexy times, and Elowen and Rominy stuck in the heartlanding building treehouses and trying not to "go too far." Rinse and repeat multiple times. When I needed to return a book to KU to make room for another one, this one got the axe.

I love character development, and most of the time I'm okay with it taking the front seat over plot. But you have to have enough plot to keep your story moving forward, and this just did not. It was kind of like watching the little spinning hourglass on your computer screen while waiting for a website that never loads. After awhile you get tired of waiting and close out the page.

Bah wretched cliffhanger

I seriously don't understand why it's so slow to get these books out. They're already written! I think I've already read like three more seasons after this, so I'm disappointed I have to be stuck on this cliffhanger AGAIN. Even if I do more or less remember what happened. But seriously, she's not even removing the episode numbers, so can we just go please?! I do want to say I love that we have five or six perspectives in here with NO labels. Take that authors who label it even when 95% of the chapters are the female protagonist and the man gets a couple.

Love this

I love this story. I am so impressed with the world the author has built. It is amazingnhow she describes thr fire that burns both literally as their talent and as passion. She communicates the intimacy in such a sweet innocent way that even teens can read. Love this story and cannot wait for the next one. What happens to Thorias? Will Cerius and Sanna reach them?

Froth.

Is this particularly well written? No. Is there an interesting developing plot? Also no. This is just a bunch of couples being in love all the time and everyone is nice and has positive motives. Did I keep reading it anyways? Yes. Enjoy the froth.

Book 1 had me. Book 2 lost me. Season 3 was too slow... It’s meant to show the next level of the relationships as part of their growth process… but it’s just not my cup of tea.

Augh, I absolutely adore returning to the Westaria’s. 🥰 My literally comfort cozy read. I’m so thrilled their story is being released in print and e-book. Cerian and Arisanna are my favorite by far and I always look forward to seeing what comes their way. Until the next one… see you in the heartlanding! 🖤

Honestly can't wait to continue this series in May when the next book is released! I love that our MMC is coming out of his shell more and letting his magic out to play.
