Part 1 of the new 4-part story "Stitchglass Slide." After the rebellion of the Titans, Lucifer decides to evict every last immortal from his Creation. And unaware that his fate hangs in the balance, an insignificant creature called a stitchglass spinner forms a fateful friendship across the threshold of one of Lucifer's gates.
Librarian Note: There is more than one author in the GoodReads database with this name. See this thread for more information. Mike Carey was born in Liverpool in 1959. He worked as a teacher for fifteen years, before starting to write comics. When he started to receive regular commissions from DC Comics, he gave up the day job.
Since then, he has worked for both DC and Marvel Comics, writing storylines for some of the world's most iconic characters, including X-MEN, FANTASTIC FOUR, LUCIFER and HELLBLAZER. His original screenplay FROST FLOWERS is currently being filmed. Mike has also adapted Neil Gaiman's acclaimed NEVERWHERE into comics.
Somehow, Mike finds time amongst all of this to live with his wife and children in North London. You can read his blog at www.mikecarey.net.
Unfortunately, my library does not carry Lucifer Book 4 but does have Lucifer Book 5 -- weird. Fortunately, you can find almost anything on-line but I need to read the issues individually. The first thing I noticed was that the cover reads "Suggested for Mature Readers." That got me thinking that perhaps there is a reason the book is not in the library (we are dealing with Lucifer.) But, I was pleased to read this touching story of Thole, (a demon who weaves feelings and colours into objects) and Martin, (who is negatively affected by the slop Thole has been throwing into his home.)
I don't particularly like e-books so reading a comic on my computer is really disappointing and very aggravating. But, happy to be able to continue Lucifer's story. And for now, Thole and Martin's as well.
Thole "The male builds a house and the female comes. With the spinners, ALWAYS is this ... I am Thole who spins in every color. I am thole, King of Stitchglass, King of love!
Stitchglass Slide 1/4 : Thole spins feelings into stitchglass, building a home and egg sacs in an effort to attract a female mate. He throws the bad feelings into a slop hole, inadvertently infecting a boy from Earth. This is the story of the consequences of the inter dimensional transfer of bad emotions, and the budding friendship of 2 very different species. Wonderful, wonderful writing.
Unusual and touching story about Thole, a stitchglass spinner and Matthew a boy from our realm who wanders into Lucifers using a gate that is opened in his attic. Thole weaves emotions into stitchglass which he uses to build his home and wants to attract a mate. However an unfortunate side effect is that his refuse causes the boy Matthew harm , due to which he feels guilty and attempts to make up for his action. Thole and Matthew become friends but the relationship in the end is more father and son.
