Holiday lights, wagging tails, and two vets who are about to get drafted… into love.
Dr. Libby Hart came to Bluewater Cove to practice veterinary medicine at human speed — and to build something the Hart Veterinary Shelter Annex, a warm, safe wing where strays can land before they find their families. Her Holiday Dinner & Wishes fundraiser is the make-or-break moment… and she does not have time to fall for the steady, maddeningly helpful man who keeps showing up with tools, floor plans, and cocoa at safe-sip temperature.
Chris is a Canadian Forces combat engineer on leave through the holidays, supposed to pack up in the new year — until a runaway dog, a Giving Tree, and a certain vet’s brave smile start rewiring all his best-laid plans.
From lantern-lit rehearsal nights to a bonfire under the stars, Bluewater Cove turns out in mittens and good cheer to help Libby fund the Annex — and to nudge two careful hearts closer than either planned.
But when a February relocation text pings, Chris has to keep moving on… or finally hold steady.
Perfect for fans of sweet, small-town, just-kisses holiday romance with found family, a matchmaking dog, and all the cozy vibes.
Set in Bluewater Cove, but can be read as a standalone.

Love, Leashes and Holiday Wishes When the army Vet who’s staying with his friend Addy the Veterinarian,he’s met with a mutt he names Moose on the loose. When he meets Libby another Veterinary worker he doesn’t shirk her . In fact he’s upbeat ,even though embarrassed he just looks at his feet. “He’ll expect cucumber water now. And a paw-dicure. You’ve set the bar.” “He’s the clinic mascot?” “Something like that. He’s been with us for a while, waiting for his forever family. I keep telling him patience builds character. He disagrees.” So there’s the meet cute and Addy being astute tells her that Chris is handy . So there’s an idea to get Cupid’s bow hitting his love heartstrings of these two potential love matches .Chris is onboard to batten down the hatches on the escapee . And what a loved up couple you ever did see. It’s instant attraction you see. And this awesome prose from Tina Cyr is awesomely compelling ,it’s divine .Super as a matter of fact . Love, Leashes, & Holiday Wishes arcs in cheerful letters over snowflakes and paw prints. This sign should surely be a sign when Chris yelps ( I couldn’t resist,of course I meant helps) out to measure the hall where the event takes place and the look on Addy’s face ,she’s like the cat or dog of course who got the cream by helping out loves young dream …not that they’re young but you know what I mean . I absolute adore this book ,it’s bliss who could ask for more? I implore . It deserves a great big encore from me ,because it’s heavenly . Wonderfully feel good story phew ♥️. I love it so much ,you will too it gives such a warm feeling inside that warms your heart from the inside out ,it really is something to shout or even bark about because it’s woofly 😉
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and though I wasn’t required to post a review, I wanted to leave my impression of it.
Tina has written a later in life love story of a Canadian engineer who has just left the military and while visiting his cousin finds someone who just may stop him from rambling anymore.
Chris finds a runaway dog and goes to return it to the local pet shelter and meets the new vet named Libby. Both are hesitant at first to build on the attraction they feel because he has told people he’s leaving for a new job soon but helping Libby get a new annex fundraiser set up and the runaway pooch seem to tell Chris that maybe he shouldn’t run anymore and settle down because he finds an attraction growing for both!
I enjoyed the slow burn chemistry between Chris and Libby and recommend this book. Sometimes just being there and showing up means more than any words could. I think you’ll enjoy this book as well.
I want to start by saying I received an ARC of this book. This is a clean romance book and part of the Military Kisses series. The main characters are Chris and Libby. Chris is visiting his cousin when he finds a dog and returns it to the pet shelter and he meets Libby. Libby and Chris are attracted to each other but don’t want to act on it as she wants to focus on her fundraiser and Chris isn’t planning on staying in town. The more time they spend together for the fundraiser the more they fall in love. Will they give in and open their hearts to each other? When Chris gets an opportunity that will cause him to leave will he take it? I loved Chris he is so sweet. I think Chris and Libby made such a cute couple. I loved the side characters especially the dog. I have a soft spot for animals so I loved that the fundraiser was for a place for animals. I loved the small town and the Christmas aspects. Overall, I enjoyed this book.
“You talk like a manual.” At times I felt like this book read like a manual. Chris has hung up his military boots and is ready for a new adventure. While staying with his cousin, waiting for his new job location, he comes upon a lost dog. Knowing his cousin is helping with an animal shelter close by, he decides to take the dog there and meets the beautiful veterinarian, Libby. I struggled with this book. I typically enjoy this author‘s stories, but for some reason, I couldn’t feel any chemistry between the characters and the plot didn’t resonate with me. I didn’t even feel any connection to the animals. There are many reviewers that love the story so I think it’s a me problem. I did feel all the fuzzies about 70% in. So overall, I think a lot of people would enjoy it. I love that. It’s a clean, wholesome romance. 3.5 stars
Any story that has pups in it is a winner in my book. Yes, I'm a dog person. A small dog girlie, to be exact. Love an adorable lap warmer. Anyways. Nothing brings a couple together like a goal and a cute doggo! Just ask Hallmark. And the author of this story.
I LOVED reading this book. If you asked me to pick a favorite character, it's Maurice. If you know, you know. If not, you will when you obtain your very own copy. This is one of those stories that gave me all the warm fuzzies I've come to expect out of my guilty pleasure Hallmark movies. Yes, that's high praise.
The plot was so beautiful, laced with bits of humor here and there that had me giggling quietly to myself. It was so heartwarming and so fun, and I can't wait for more Bluewater Cove.
Ravenheart Rating: 10/10 Spice Factor: Level 3, one or two sweet kisses.
First, you have to love a FMC with a name of Libby ;) (although that is my least favorite nickname... I can appreciate the name)...
A heartwarming novella that brings together veterinarian, Dr. Libby Hart, as she works to expand her shelter and Chris, a Canadian Forces combat engineer who’s trying to find his place in the world but who finds himself helping her with those plans in the meantime. An escape artist dog, Maurice, plays matchmaker in fun, charming ways, including facilitating their meet-cute. Both struggle with the idea of pursuing a relationship, but with the help of a community that rallies behind her efforts and a meddling dog who adopts Chris, they find their place in the world and their HEA.
Love, Leashes and Holiday Wishes is the latest release from Canadian indie author Tina Cyr. It is part of the A Military Kisses Sweet Romance series, as well as part of Cyr's Bluewater Cove universe, but it can be read as a standalone.
I enjoyed this sweet romance. The story's flow, structure, internal monologues and dialogue created a unique reading experience that was perfect for this couple. I really enjoyed their thought processes.
I appreciated the quick references to the footnotes, which indicated the characters from the Bluewater Cove universe and which book they feature in. This allowed me to feel that I knew the other characters in this small town, even though I hadn't read their individual stories.
I now look forward to reading the other books in Cyr's Bluewater Cove series and further supporting this Canadian indie author.
I loved this book from the first page. You have a military engineer wondering what’s next, the town vet with big aspirations for her clinic, and an escape artist dog who plays the perfect matchmaker. What could go wrong!?! Chris and Libby were made for each other. Maurice escaping helped them have their meet cute. Chris immediately jumped in and worked on fixing the gate to prevent Maurice’s future escapades. Libby is what kept him coming back. Both were drawn to each other from the beginning, but neither were sure if they should pursue a relationship. I loved their interactions and banter. It was very relatable. If you like holiday romances, this is a great read.
And this is another book I want to have on my shelves!
One has started anew and has dreams of grandeur + One is looking for his next step or wondering if he should start fresh + One doesn't like confined spaces and is an escape artist = A cozy and heartwarming adventure, with a dash of fun banter, which makes it a great read for the holiday season.
It's a relatable read, with my history with the military, finding the way they communicate very well represented. It's a small story, which is also good for those looking for something lighter.
This was another fantastic read in the Military Kisses series! This one is about Libby, the town vet, and Chris, recently out of the military and trying to figure out what's next. These two are wonderful. They have this sarcastic, dry whit that had me in stitches! I loved it. Their story centered around the vet clinic and raising money for better runs for the dogs. Can't forget Maurice either, the escape artist, loveable dog who adopts Chris. This book made me smile and warmed my heart!!
This is the sweetest book ever. I mean you've got love, chemistry, and animals. you can't get much better than that. Libby being the new local vet and Chris coming in with the blue prints and plans. not to mention the lost dog. this book was filled with attraction, reservations, and ultimately a Love connection. I loved the characters in this book, and the way it was written so was warming and it filled it my heart. just an overall wonderfully sweet book.
This is a new-to-me author, and I loved her writing style and the way she strung words together. I did struggle a bit, feeling like I didn't know the charachters very well. Going in, I didn't realize this was a novella. I do not normally read books that are under 200 pages, so that may explain why I didn't feel as connected with the charachters. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would recommend. And I'm looking forward t9 reading more from her.
Another hit for me from Tina Cyr, involving another of my favourite things furbabies! Loved reading about a strapping man that was good with his hands. The mental health issues are relatable and the hesitance of both main characters of approaching the other to broach the subject of a relationship. Some not so subtle nudging from well intentioned friends and family and.....❤️
Can be read as a standalone but is part of an interconnected series. A veterinary doctor desperate to provide more for the homeless pets. A veteran on vacation with handyman skills A stray dog with Houdini skills and matchmaking plans Instant connection but she doesn't have time right now and he's scheduled to leave
Chris has come back from the forces and is looking for something to do, he's getting involved in the local village and helping Libby with her veterinary clinic fund raiser. They have feelings for each other but he might be taking a job further away, so Libby is wary of getting too involved with him.
Tina always write good books and this one is no exception. This one is perfect for holiday read. Its quick short cozy filled with love warmth. I’ve enjoyed this book and finished it as soon as I received it
This was a sweet and quick read. You be rooting for the two to get together, to make the choice to choose to stay over a job that could change everything and you’ll fall in love with the pups. This is a clean read that makes you feel warm inside!
This was a cute book. Short and Sweet. We get to see the team work of Libby and Chris and the building of their foundation. There's a cute furry sidekick that brings them together it it was too sweet.
A sweet, just kisses romance, for the win. This is a quick read with small town vibes. You have bantering, meddling, and puppies. How could you go wrong. Chris and Libby have trouble being direct, but their interactions are cute. Great read.
This is a cute little holiday read. Chris has just left the service and is home deciding what to do. Libby is the local vet who runs the local clinic. She is setting a a holiday fundraiser and needs some handyman help. Working together on the fundraiser just might turn into something more.
This was a sweet cute holiday book. Chris and Libby meet, thanks to Addy , his sister in law and some help from Maurice! I definitely think it could've focused more on the relationship developing between them instead of Chris's expertise with painter tape and wires, but still a cute story.
Another cute meet cute hallmark novella from Tina. This time an off duty Military man and a local vet. They hit it off right off the bat but will it be enough to keep him in town. Also a very cute dog involved that will keep you giggling.
This book was super sweet. Had a lot of great things in it including a puppy that needs a home. All the novellas I read seem to leave me wanting more and this one isn’t any different. I continue to enjoy everything from this author and will definitely read more.
I really enjoyed another visit to Bluewater Cover, Libby and Chris’s story, with characters from other books mentioned and of course the lovely Maurice with his waggy tail
