Club Red

Rate this book
This is a standalone book in the BBW BDSM series.

I was tired of being hurt. I was tired of being unappreciated. I was tired of being cheated on with some skinny bimbo in hot pants because she was so much thinner than me. I was tired of it all.

When I shared in confidence that I was done with relationships but desperately missed the touch of a man, my friend Erica talked me into coming with her to the hottest underground club in the city – Club Red. Where no fantasy is too taboo, and no strings are attached.

I had no idea what to expect as we entered the club that night.

In Gaius, the dark, mysterious man who captured me in every way a woman can be captured, I found my greatest challenge, and my deepest weakness. I found passion unlike anything I’d ever experienced. I’d found the key to my existence, and the undoing of everything I’d built inside of myself.

But one thing was for sure, when I walked out of Club Red, neither my life, nor I, would ever be the same.

Oh boy... this Story was far too short and ended right in the middle.
I didn't feel any Connection between the characters and the "dom" didn't feel very dominant to me.
Also the female lead's behavior is a bit too unrealistic to me...

Merged review:

At this time I really have to patience for books anymore that sell abuse as BdSM. It's been too long since FSoG first was published, and books like this have surfaced one time too often. There are so many books out there describing BdSM properly.

Maybe I would have perceived this book differently, if I had felt any connection for the characters. But the heroine blindly trusting a dom she doesn't know but running away when he wants a deeper connection is just ...

I should learn my lesson and stop reading freebies!

I wasn't really feeling this one. I thought that the hero, Gaius, tried to act all alpha male, but specific parts where he seemed hesitant, or sad, or uncertain made him seem a bit weak to me. I'm not sure what the deal was with Victoria getting all hurt hurt in the past and not wanting a relationship and then freaking out and running away when Gaius wanted to get to know her (which is totally something a girl would say and the situation would be reversed in typical gender stereotypes). He wanted to get to know her because he wanted to form a relationship with her and you'd think with the men in her past who didn't want to do that she would be all for it. But of course she had to be angsty about it.

Yeah, this one really wasn't worth the time to read.

Oh my. I don't one star books very often but I really had difficulty with this book. I'll list:
1. I did not feel a connection between Tori/Victoria and Gaius.
2. She barely knows him, doesn't even know his last name and allows him to
3.
4. The writing was stiff. A few odd sentences ... "and I was overcome with desire as his tongue probed deep copulated with my own." Huh?!
5. The scene at the restaurant with her boss was odd.
6. Insta-love.
7. End of the book rushes headlong into a finish with him

Sadly, this was definitely not my cuppa!!

I am sorry but I give this book a minus 5 stars and yeah after the 50 shades of gray I understand people who love these books and I respect your choice. Just go in with your eyes open. I am sure all victims or abuse everywhere can't wait for their partner to get off on them being hurt!!! Omg this is such bull, it's not fair to anybody who is an actual victim of abuse. I don't like book where the hero justifies himself and the heroine is so pathetic that she is just looking to get love in all the wrong places. I guess it would have been ok with their light bdsm if she had not been victim of domestic violence twice but if that's all you know I guess that's what you go for, Not!! Sorry for all those victims of domestic violence everywhere for this depiction. I will watch on good read reviews before I read from now on. I would have known and I would have avoided this one. Just not my thing.

This was a really cute erotic romance about Victoria (Tori) a lonley woman through with relationships but only looking for sex without attachments her BFF Erica takes Tori to Club Red one night so that she could hookup Erica tells Tori once they are seated at the bar that a guy is staring at her she makes eye contact with him for just a moment the guy Gaius a lonely sexy businessman who wants to spend some time with Tori their is a spark that passes between them so he comes to the bar and makes conversation with her they go to his apartment in the club and they talk but it gets to deep for Tori and she runs away she works at a restaurant and she happens to see Gaius walk in to her job with a woman not knowing that she is a client she immediately feels ill but pretends to be so sick she asks her manager to go home and she is waiting outside for a cab she called for and Gaius comes out and tries to speak to her but she wont have anything to do with him, she misses work for a couple of days then Erica comes over to let her know that Gaius wants to meet with her she isn't sure she wants to get involved with him because they both feel something more than just sexual attraction she has to decide weather to see him or to ignore his request. Sophie Sawyer did a great job with this short story very heart felt they both have been hurt in their lives and are looking for someone to need and want them. I would definitely recommend this book. readers 18 and older.

This book had promise but ended kind of abruptly. I'm also not so sure about the hero. He seemed a little tame for a Dom who wanted to "own" the heroine so badly. He also seemed to be pushing her a little too quickly into a decision about being with him. I'm not sure I trusted the bond he seemed to think they had and his home was isolated. Again, not sure she should have been so quick to trust him. If I was a friend, I would be worried for her.

So just okay for me.

This is a light BDSM read. The "Dom" was more bossy than anything else. And the relationship between the two was odd. I felt like I was reading an outline of a future book...if that makes any sense.
