Chalk and cheese are not enough to describe how different Brent and I are. No, we need something far more dramatic.
Brent is a thoroughbred prize-winning stallion making millions in high profile races and I’m a zebra, comfortable in my unconventional skin, doing my own thing, and living my life peacefully in the wild.
Really, we shouldn’t even come across each other.
But we did… when my best friend decided to marry his brother and asked me to be the maid of honor. I have to admit though when I laid eyes on that stallion on my way to the cake tasting session and I still didn’t know who he was, this zebra did think, ‘oh my, what a beautiful beast’.
But when I found out he was the rich brother, I told myself zebras had no business being with stallions and shut down that unworthy thought, but then that gorgeous stallion went and kissed me…
Oh dear, now what? The Rich Brother is a ful length standalone romance.
The Rich Brother by Iona Rose is a contemporary romance that introduces us to Daisy, a self-described "cynical and standoffish" woman who is fiercely loyal to her best friend, Leah. When Leah gets engaged to the laid-back Dean, Daisy finds herself questioning her friend's life choices. However, her focus soon shifts to Brent, Dean’s wealthy, successful, and equally standoffish brother. What follows is a slow-burn romance that pits Daisy’s guarded, unique personality against the undeniable, and often inconvenient, connection she shares with Brent.
Daisy is a fantastic character. As a self-proclaimed strict reviewer, I appreciate that Rose has given us a protagonist who isn't a carbon copy of a thousand other romance heroines. Her cynical inner voice is both entertaining and a crucial part of the narrative, allowing us to deeply connect with her struggles and vulnerabilities. Brent is a good foil, but the real strength of the story lies in Daisy's personal journey. The author uses clothing and style as a clever shorthand for character, and the contrast between Daisy's gothic aesthetic and Leah's feminine flair is a nice touch.
This is a good read, but it didn't quite stand out to me as a five-star read. The pacing is deliberate, and the tension between Daisy and Brent is palpable. It explores themes of loyalty, self-worth, and the complexities of finding love when you aren't looking for it. While the core themes resonate, the narrative, at times, feels a bit too tidy. As someone who appreciates longer books with higher page counts, this one felt a little too compressed to fully explore the nuances of the characters' backstories and motivations.
The email regarding the wedding cake for Daisy and Brent’s wedding serves as a satisfying, if somewhat predictable, conclusion. It’s a sweet moment that provides a clear resolution without a dramatic, over-the-top epilogue, which I enjoyed.
I'm giving this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars. It’s a good read, but it didn’t quite stand out for me as a book I would reread over and over again. I would definitely recommend The Rich Brother to other readers, especially those who enjoy contemporary romance with a focus on strong, unconventional heroines and a realistic, character-driven plot. It's a solid choice for a quick, engaging read.
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
My Rating System: 1⭐️: The book didn’t hold my interest and/or had significant issues that overshadowed any redeeming qualities for me, but generally not my cup of tea. Most likely did not finish the book. 2⭐️: The book didn’t quite resonate with me, and while my experience wasn’t remarkable, I did finish it. It had some redeeming qualities and potential but fell short in execution. Recommendable, though with some reservations. 3⭐️: Good read, but didn’t quite stand out. Still worth recommending to others. 4⭐️: Really enjoyed it and stayed engaged throughout. Would read the book again. Definitely recommendable. 5⭐️: Incredible writing that made me deeply connect with the characters. I was completely absorbed in the world and didn’t want it to end. This book stayed with me even when I wasn’t reading it. I'd gladly reread it and highly recommend it to everyone!.

Daisy and Leah have been best friends since college and she is helping Leah plan her wedding to Dean. He comes from old money and is not overly ambitious and is content running his bar. His older brother Brent is a wealthy investment banker. Daisy and Brent are thrown together while helping with the wedding and they are constantly sparring with each other. But their chemistry is off the charts. Lots of drama and angst from his mother who thinks Daisy’s not good enough for her son. She suffers from insecurity about being accepted by his friends. Hot and cold, but the chemistry is always there. Constant interference from a wanna be ex. A good book with a an easy to read story line. The characters are likable and the story has a happy ending and no cliffhanger. I read an advance copy via Bad Boy Updates and I voluntarily chose to review it.
The Rich Brother is the first book I have read by Iona Rose. I was not sure what to expect, as you never know if you will connect with a new author or not. I did enjoy this opposites attract story about Daisy and Brent. They meet when her best friend marries his brother and they are both in the wedding party. Daisy is a goth girl and Brent is a straight laced investment banker who is also very rich. On paper they do not match but in person they are on fire, if they can find the match that is. They must deal with family, his uptight and status conscious mother, friends and a lot of witty banter that makes you laugh and some sizzling hot passion that steams up your glasses. I quite enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more stories by Iona Rose.
Daisy will do anything for her best friend and that includes helping her with her wedding despite knowing that people judge her for the way she looks without knowing her. Working with the best man who is the groom’s brother will be a challenge, but she isn’t about to let his attitude derail her best friend’s special day.
Brent is a wealthy man who was raised in an affluent lifestyle. He has always done what was expected and understands the importance of making the right impression due to his social standing. He knows he should want nothing to do with Daisy however that is easier said than done.
This a story about two people who have nothing in common except for their feelings for each other who find themselves battling all the people who don’t believe they should be together.
4.5 stars! Opposites do attract. Daisy is a goth girl through and through. Brent is a billionaire who works as an investment banker. Though you wouldn't know it from looking at her, Daisy has a great job with tons of contacts and a very healthy bank account. She wants her best friend, Leah, to have the best wedding possible. As the maid of honor, she will do whatever Leah needs even if it means putting up with the rich brother best man. Daisy and Brent have a rocky start, but they are opposites that have great sexual chemistry and neither holds back. This was a good, fun romance with some good twists and turns that have you reading to the last page.

Daisy is helping her friend with some of the things she needs done for her wedding. That means getting her friend the dream bridal appointment she wants as well as an amazing place for the bachelorette/bachelor party. However, she didn't count of having to deal with Brent the groom's brothers and his uppity manner. Its not long before things start to heat up between them. Can they get things done for the wedding without incident? Will they admit they want each other?
This is a great story that will draw you in from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Ok romance about Goth, Daisy & her soon to be brother-in-law. Whilst I did enjoy this story about the romance between maid of honour, Daisy and best man Brent I felt it never really had a great deal of depth. Daisy has to organise many aspects of her best friend’s wedding to Brent’s younger brother and encounters Brent’s opposition a lot of the time. Not sure if this is trying to be an enemies-to-lovers tale, but if so it ‘misses’ somewhere. It is a reasonable read, but not one of Iona Rose’s best.
Daisy is Leah’s maid of honor. Leah is marrying Dean and Dean’s brother Brent is best man. Daisy and Brent are thrown together as they plan the wedding. Daisy is a goth girl and Brent is a very wealthy investment banker. True opposites. The chemistry between Daisy and Brent is hot and they develop a relationship over time. Will Daisy ever fit in to Brent’s world? Will Brent and Daisy get together more frequently? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book via Bad Boy Update.
When the hard-working billionaire, Brent, took some time off to be his brother's best man, he had to work with the bride's bestie, the ultra goth, Daisy. These totally opposites begin right away arguing and fighting each other. But it wasn't long before their spats were laced with hot action. The bridal couple tricked this pair into taking their honeymoon trip to Madrid, Spain. There they learned to trust each other and realized their friends with benefits had turned to love. A great story with a happy ending!

This enemies to lovers story has two people who detest each other. When Daisy agrees to be her best friends maid of honor, she finds that the grooms choice of best man is no other than Brent. They can barely stand to be in the same room as each other. This book is well written with plenty of drama, angst, steamy looks and romance... as well as a surprise pregnancy.

What happens when the maid of honor and the best man can stand each other? You get explosive chemistry and fireworks for days! They should know better than to judge a book by it's cover, but its what they both do. The more they are spend together, thrust into more wedding planning then they bargained for, the more their walls come down and the passion ignites. Loved this enemies to lovers romance! I received this ARC from Bad Boy Updates.
A great story, two opposites that attract each other, these two are known in the least unexpected way! Daisy is maid of honor and Brent best man , so they have to share time together. Between these two it turns out there is a lot of attraction, but also there are big differences that help them not to be together, but after many things they manage to discover what they really feel and be happy together.
This is the perfect love story. Definitely loved Daisy. Brent is the perfect man in more ways than I could even dream about. Iona Rose is my favorite romance author and I am almost done reading all of her books. No one compares to her. I'm begging her to please keep writing and maybe speed up the process as I'm a 78 year old retired RN and don't want to go to bed to read and not have you there ! Hugs
Its a bit of a slow burn. Interesting characters. Good flow. Easy read. Light on drama. Opposites attract. Plenty of chemistry. I read it in one sitting. It was kind of slow from the beginning and it was going along and picking up speed and it was over. I would have liked more at the end.

I really enjoyed The Rich Brother by Iona Rose. Opposites definitely attracted for Daisy and Brent. They are not only total opposites but they also couldn't stand each other. But they are forced together when Daisy becomes Leah's maid of honor with Brent being brother and best man for the groom. If you enjoy enemies to lovers romance you will love their story.

Brent and Daisy are as different as can be. They are both helping to organise his brother’s wedding to Daisy’s best friend Leah. They go out of there way to make sure they. Have a good wedding. Brent even swaps the wedding rings so they are the same as the engagement ring. Then they both get phone calls to say Dean has food poisoning and can’t go away so Leah asks Daisy to go with her not knowing it’s a set up. And Dean phones Brent with a message. When they arrive at the airport and realise the set up they decide to go. I’m not going to spoil the rest only to say it’s a good story.
