I loved the first book in this series, it pulled me in and I loved the ride to the end. I can't say that for Coming Home. It was a good read, but I didn't feel that connection between Grace and Logan.
Grace came home to LA after her divorce to start fresh. She wanted to take herself out of the limelight her abusive manic husband and a Ponzi scheming, father in law put her in by association. When she comes home the last person she expects to see is, Logan. Logan was always that one that got away when she left for New York. She's not the same person she was when she left. Can the new Grace make it work with her lost love? Is a second chance at love worth the risk?
I think Coming Home is a good read. It's a sweet love story, but the MC's are just missing that sexy chemistry for me.

This is the second in the series, but would still be a satisfying read as a standalone. Jill Blake writes great stories that involve doctors in some form or other - I have read a number in the past and never been disappointed.
Here we meet two doctors, who had once been close, and now get a second chance. Miscommunications in their youth caused a rift which both consider to be the fault of the other. Healing and accepting that priorities change are effectively dealt with in this grown up and intelligent story. It is sweet and caring, as well as raising a number of serious issues. A good mix of chemistry and passion, as well as careers and family.
Once again Jill Blake has another winner with Coming Home, book two from The Santa Monica Trilogy. I am a huge Jill Blake fan and look forward to each new story that she writes. I was fortunate to have read Without A Net, book one from this series and I enjoyed it very much. I find that each story Ms. Blake writes is just as good, or even better than the previous one. Coming Home is an engaging second chance romance, complete with realism, well-defined characters and a compelling storyline.
Both Grace and Logan attended college together on the West Coast and fell madly in love in the process. Then Grace found out her that her father was alive, well, and living in New York City, so she went to meet him and decided to stay. Their breakup was shocking to say the least, but they both moved on and tried to find happiness without each other. While pursuing a medical degree, Grace ended up marrying a sociopath, whose father was another Bernard Madoff. Now she is divorced, and completing her residency in California, in order to escape the horror that was her life. The past eight years have been reasonably good for Logan, working diligently to achieve tenure.
I liked this book. It is well written and it will keep you entertained from beginning to end. Have a couple of tissues handy, because both happy and sad tears may trickle. The story is nicely paced, the main characters are interesting, especially Grace, and the ending will make you smile from ear to ear.

Grace not only left a scandal in New York, she also left an abusive husband who needed but refused to get help. She wasn’t the same girl who’d left California. She’d been tainted and her emotions left astray. She was both harder and more fragile. What she needed was someone to help her move forward in life. And she never expected that person to be her ex Logan.
Logan wasn’t always the smartest guy when it came to love, which is why he lost Grace. He didn’t question her. Didn’t stand up for her. And then she was gone. Since her no woman was more than a friend with benefits…even if they thought it was more. Then one day sitting right there in front of him is Grace, and all he wants is to bury himself inside her again. Yep, he’s a guy, and all they think about is sex, but that desire will become more.
“It wasn’t pity sex,” Logan growled.
“Sure sounds that way to me.”
“For God’s sake, Grace, I love you.”
I wanted to like this book, I truly did, but there was just something about it. It doesn’t pull you in and hold you there. I think because it jumps forward and only glosses over certain topics that my attention just kept slipping. I liked the characters and the storyline has great promise, but the technique wasn’t for me. I like to be captured by a book and this one didn’t do it.
If you’ve never read one of Jill Blake’s books, you’re in for a treat. This one is a little dark, a little sweet, a little spicy, and oh so good! Coming Home is exactly what the title implies, a story about a woman who leaves home and then returns years later, disillusioned with love and life. Lucky for her, she’s got a smokin’-hot ex-boyfriend who’s happy to help restore her faith in both. But first they’ve got to work through some of the issues that broke them apart to begin with, plus all of the baggage that they both picked up along the way. This book is on the short side, and makes for a pretty quick and easy read. The writing is crisp, the characters are believable, the problems sound very true to life. Even though this is billed as a second book in the series, it reads like a stand-alone. I hate cliffhangers (one of my pet peeves), so thank you again Ms. Blake for not stringing your readers along!

Coming Home by Jill Blake is one of the best books I've read in a long, long, long time. I couldn't put it down. It took me two days to read from start to finish.
Whilst I knew from the start what the ending would be, which is fine by me because I like those kinds of stories, it was the twists and turns within the story that left me gawping at my Kindle. Coming Home is full of layers and each layer is more shocking than the one before, it's certainly a chick lit with a twist! Jill does the characters justice and deals with some sensitive issues with great care and due attention.
SPOILER: The sex scenes in the book left me wanting more - they were so well written, they conveyed the sense of passion without being too crass.
Overall, I genuinely cannot recommend this book enough, I would read it over and over and over again and I can't wait for the next one to come out!

A second chance at love is like coming home and when Grace returns to California to escape the wreckage of her past she finds her old love Logan again. He wondered why she went to New York for college instead of staying near him and he finds Grace has changed due to her failed marriage and dealing with the mental illness of her ex-husband. Slowly, he uncovers what happened to her that goes beyond what the press publishes and he helps her rebuild her life and find trust again and the woman he never stopped loving. The love story was tender and I loved Logan's strength and caring towards Grace as she dealt with trauma in her personal life and career and he helped her to recover her from her past to have a future with him. This story is so great! I read it in just one day, unable to put it down. The characters have a lot to work out, and my heart ached for poor Grace as she worked through the aftermath of being with an abusive husband. Logan was just so dang sweet. Really great hero material. Perfect book boyfriend!
The writer’s style is wonderfully easy to read with great pacing and flow. The story itself is a real page-turner. I read this book before reading book 1, but loved it so much that I’m going back to read the first in the series and see what Eva’s story is all about. I highly recommend this! 5+ stars!!
Great read! After 8 years and one bad marriage Grace is back in LA to start her life over. Logan thought they would be together forever but when Grace decided to go to New York he refused to follow. He never understood why she went and she never bothered to explain. When they meet up again the attraction remains but will they be able to trust each other? Another very well written story from Jill Blake. This one grabbed me from the first page. I highly recommend it.
Ms. Blake writes a wonderful second-chance romance with fleshed-out characters, a tender love story, and a well-developed storyline, despite being a shorter read.
This is the second book I read by Jill Blake. It's the second book in a Trilogy but can be read as a stand alone as well. It is a little darker than the first one but that doesn't mean it is less enjoyable. Do we not all have our burdens to carry? Like in the first one, the characters are believable and lovable, the plot catching. It grabbed me from the beginning.
